Lechon Portland Reviews
What an amazing night out we had going to Lechon.
Our server was great and let us know that we had a good amount of food ordered and that we should be good but can always add in and left a menu with us. They have an old fashioned bar which my wife enjoyed and I had lost tropics and was just as much delicious as her old fashioned. The food was amazing and we will definitely be back.
Charming Ambiance and Tasty Tapas
I loved the ambiance here, especially the cool fish tanks and the mesmerizing jellyfish display behind the bar. We decided to try several dishes, opting for tapas. While each dish was good, they didn't quite live up to the rave reviews I'd read. On a positive note, the kids' menu offered generous portions at a great price. Service was excellent, making the overall experience enjoyable.

This place was amazing- from the service, food, drinks, and the vibes, it was all superb! We came without reservations but got sat pretty quickly at the bar since it was only the two of us. We wanted to try this place out because it was tapas style and we wanted to try a bunch of their items. Our waitress told us for 2 people usually 3-5 items would be good depending on how hungry we were. We ended up getting the Ahi Tuna ceviche, the smoked duck leg chaufa fried rice, the foraged mushrooms on roasted brioche, and the chorizo grilled octopus with salsa verde and preserved lemon. Everything was so delicious and I loved that it was easy to share! We also ordered a couple of drinks each and all were really great as well. I was soo stuffed after the meal but also really happy that we tried what we did. Def recommend this place when in Portland :)

Wow. There are no words really. ( yet of course I will find too many!) I went to this South American inspired restaurant by recommendation back home. I was told to get the gaucho bread... A nan like bread with chimichurri and salt, and it was beautiful in a very simple way. Then there were Peruvian fried chicken bites (popcorn chicken) in fermented hot, honey, corn, basil aioli. Again, no words. And finally plantain and black bean empanada. I washed those down with a nonalcoholic drink called "island time" composed of dhos bitter orange, lychee, honeydew, lime and guava soda. Truth be told I wasn't so sure. I typically don't like guava... and lychees in drinks is something I have only recently accepted in my repertoire, but it was perfect. I was too full for dessert ( and already had a take away bag of leftovers), so of course I ordered banana, caramel pie. It was orgasmic! I usually only get chocolate desserts... so that's saying something! After a few bites it went into the takeaway bag for tomorrow's breakfast... There were far more adventuresome options on the menu such as: grilled octopus with chorizo, Chilean beef and corn pie, wild boar sausages, as well as three kinds of ceviche and a calamarcito Frito that included green apple jalapeno leche de tigre ( is that milk of a tiger?), grilled pineapple, cucumber, and pickled pepper. I'm really not that adventurous...so I stuck to fun but recognizable to me foods...haha! Tyler was my server and he is both sweet and knowledgeable. He really was adorable and very professional. The guy who seated me was lovely too. Unfortunately I did not get his name. Additionally there were two huge fish tanks. One had lots of tropical fish, one of which stared me down most of the meal. He kept mouthing something to me... either "help me" or "feed me", not sure which, but he was a little stalky! The other tank had jellyfish! I've never, ever seen a tank of jellyfish in a restaurant. That was pretty unique! I'm realizing it's hard not to get an amazing meal in Portland.... Or I've lucked out really well with my choices!

Our friends from out of state were visiting us for a short time and we decided to take them here as it's one of our favorite restaurants in PDX. We came here on a Tuesday evening and everything was perfect. We decided to order a little bit of everything and shared it. The smoked bone marrow is indeed one of our favorites here now. The grilled octopus is a close second for sure. Don't forget to order those two dishes when you're here. Our waitress was extremely attentive. She came around and asked us if we ever needed anything. The server made sure to introduce the dish to us each time it was dropped off at our table. The way the food came out was nicely timed as well. The fish tank by the bar is indeed a great focal point of the space. Not to mention the open kitchen view from the bar top tables. We will definitely come back for sure.

Delicious tapas place! Drinks were delightful and so was the food! We went for happy hour and ordered the patatas, shrimp ceviche, and foraged mushrooms. For drinks, we got the mal humorado and shine eye gal. So delish! 4.5 stars rounding to 5 :)
Lechon has very nice vibes and atmosphere.
Try getting here early for dinner service because everyone seems to know this is where you can get good foods and drinks.
I didn't know Lechon had vegan lava cake.
It was a game changer with the vegan ice cream and whipped cream. The tapas are also delicious as always! I really enjoy the flavors blending together from the variety of plates. Excellent service! The food was prepared quickly and we were able to stay longer at our reservation despite arriving late. I really enjoyed el humorado and tried the espresso martini which were surprisingly delicious! I can't wait for my next meal here.
Lechon is always a great place to eat at.
First came here a few years ago and was amazed how great the food and service was. We didn't have a single bad dish. Came back a few months ago for happy hour and again everything tasted amazing.

Had a client dinner here And was pretty happy with our experience. Our server wasn't too outgoing, seemed as if she was overwhelmed with a number of tables she was managing. Our total time at dinner was 2 1/2 hours which I thought was a little long. Food was amazing and I really dug the space in the old building. Was advertised as being vegan friendly, but we found there was very few options or considerations they would make for our vegan friend. Felt bad for her, but the rest of us had a great experience with the cuisine.
We were visiting Portland and this was walking distance
We were visiting Portland and this was walking distance from our hotel. I'm so glad we stumbled upon it! The ambiance and decor is incredible. My daughter loved the fish tank and jellyfish wall, of course. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. I was a bit nervous because it seemed like an "adult" place, but they had a kids menu and were completely welcoming. The food was amazing. I'll dream about the brisket empanadas forever. Spicy chicken bites were another winner. Bring friends and come hungry!
Fantastic food and service
This place was fabulous! We ordered four South American-inspired tapas: ahi ceviche, steak tartare, lomo saltado, and bone marrow. Everything was phenomenal. We also both ordered supremely tasty mocktails and finished it off with a banana dessert that had dulce de leche to die for. (Two informational non-complaints: It's a little dark in there, so our older eyes had trouble reading the menus without phone flashlights. There is no espresso available for dessert, just drip coffee.) I look forward to trying other dishes soon!
Amazing Restaurant!
Lechon is an amazing restaurant! This restaurant specializes in tapas of a wide variety. Every tapa I have tried at this restaurant was amazing. This was my second visit to this restaurant, both visits were outstanding. I highly recommend the pan seared scallops, flank steak, brisket empanada and roasted brussels sprouts. The desserts are also very good. I tried the banana caramel, it was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Best meal in a long time
Great place! Food was exceptional. Wait staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Would highly recommend.
Fast Service
Booking is recommended if you don't want a wait for dinner. Service is efficient and friendly. We decided on the tapas option and chose 6 selections between the two of us. Unfortunately, and a major fault with the service, is that the plates came rapidly one after the other. Surely the kitchen can manage food delivery more professionally. My recommendation, if ordering tapas is to simply order 2 dishes at a time prior to ordering further options. This will ensure your table is not swamped with plates. Despite this flaw in service we did enjoy our evening the food was all cooked and presented to a high standard.
Yummy, fun spot!
Food was totally spot on with some unique and delicious twists and service was great! One of our fav meals!
Phenomenal food
Phenomenal food! everytime I go to Lechon I am completely full and satisfied. I have been here 4 times in the last 2 years and already have plans coming up again soon. The flavors are wonderful and they have many vegetarian options.
Got to try this unique restaurant with distinctive and unique tastes. Highly recommended
From the cocktails to the Tapas to the banana Carmel pie the flavors and tastes were wonderful and unique! We visited on a busy evening and sat @ the bar but the service was great and the staff checked with us regularly.
Different. It good food
Lee hon serves South American food. It is best to share the many tapas that are on the menu including, duck wings, bread, beef and pasta. Excellent service.
LeChon is aa place you must try.
LeChon is an outstanding restaurant with wonderful food, service and a very happy and lively atmosphere. We enjoyed several different tapas and small plates which were unique and perfectly prepared. When you are in Portland, you really need to try LeChon, but be sure to make a reservation in advance to assure you can get in when you want to be there. I promise you will have a great time and a wonderful dining experience.
Great food.
GET THE BONE MARROW WITH THE GAUCHO BREAD. It's supper delicious. Maybe rui ed the rest of dinner because we started with it and we just kept wanting more. Great sercice by friendly staff. Atmosphere hip and enjoyable.
Aside from all the glowing reviews about Lechon, what
Aside from all the glowing reviews about Lechon, what really sold me was the JELLYFISH TANK. It's my dream to own one in my unaffordable home one day so it was nice to just sit and stare at it while my food got cold.Anyway, Lechon is a tapas type restaurant so come with a group or a date. Foraged mushrooms and smoked bone marrow are probably some of their more popular items and for good reason. I will say the gaucho bread flavor is pretty overpowering so if you eat it with the bone marrow you might miss out on the bone marrow flavor. Otherwise, it's a great dish to order. The foraged mushrooms was surprisingly really good despite the name. Did they actually go in the forest to forage these mushrooms? I dunno, but they were pretty good with the egg and brioche bread. So what more needs to be said? This is a great dinner spot for any occasion, just be ready to pay a pretty penny to dine here.
The forage mushrooms are a delight.
The steak is cooked to perfection. The customer service and the food were excellent. The seating is a little tight but good enough space for a close gathering.
The food here was amazing! I wish it was a little faster
The food here was amazing! I wish it was a little faster service so that we could try more options. Ambiance is great with beautiful restaurant with fish tanks.
Tapas, Tapas, and more Tapas
LeChon is a South American cuisine inspired tapas restaurant on the waterfront in downtown Portland. A large tapas menu with meats, fish, and many vegetarian options allows for trying multiple dishes. We had shrimp ceviche, scallops, cauliflower, patatas bravas and foraged mushrooms dishes. All were excellent with interesting flavors and methods of preparation. They had fun and different drinks including mocktails for our non alcohol drinker. Service was attentive and friendly. All in all, a great culinary experience!!
Great food great drinks great staff first time in Portland
Great food great drinks great staff first time in Portland and it was amazing. Duck wings are 10/10. Will note if you opt to walk in and wait they will leave you waiting for awhile with tons of open tables. Kind of foolish to me but hey outside of that great place and super well priced for the quality and experience
Lechon was great, but I'll start with why it got 4 stars
Lechon was great, but I'll start with why it got 4 stars instead of 5. It was difficult to get service or even to request more water because it was so busy (all tables full) and limited servers, also because MOST of the food was awesome but there were a few dishes that I would not recommend.Dishes I enjoyed:Grilled octopus- chorizo, fried potatoes, salsa verde, preserved lemonForaged mushrooms- farm egg, aged parmesan toasted brioche, caramelized onion puree, herbs (v) (HIGHLY RECOMMEND, SO GOOD)Pork belly baocitos- pork belly, firecracker slaw, steam buns, sesame bbq saucePiquillo pepper empanadas- queso, onion, parsley, ancho aioli (v)Brisket empanadas- golden raisins, fontina cheese, ancho aioliRoasted brussels sprouts- tamarind glaze, smoked cashew puree (v, gf) (HIGHLY RECOMMEND, CAN REQUEST SAUCE ON THE SIDE. ENDED UP ORDERING ANOTHER OF THE BRUSSEL SPROUTS)Smoked bone marrow- gaucho bread, parsley, shallot, caper mustard salad, chimichurriDishes I would not recommend:Shrimp ceviche- aji lime amarillo, salsa criolla, avocado, jalapeno, cilantro (gf)Pan seared scallops- fresh corn polenta, tomatoes, parmesan, fine herbsLan roc pork chop- 12 ounces, pistachios, dijon, artichoke relish, piquillo pepper romesco, fine herbsPeruvian fried chicken bites- fermented hot honey, basil aioli (gf)Peruvian roasted chicken- corn, sweet potatoes, salsa criolla, cilantro, limeOverall a great experience and extensive cocktail menu, even for non-alcoholic drinks!
The aquariums were awesome, food out of this world.
Really hot in the restaurant lol but the service was fantastic, really knowledgeable and the drinks were some of the best I've had recently. I wish I remembered our servers name because she was awesome! Highly highly recommend we will be going back as soon as possible! *hint* try the bone marrow! I was scare Ive never had it like this, but dang! So good! Best homemade naan!
Always delicious food and great drinks.
The smoked bone marrow is amazing! My favorite tapas place in Portland.

Love this place! Classy, cozy, delicious, vibrant, and just great overall. As a plus, I always get a kick saying the name because lechon is (to a Filipino) a whole pig on a spit, roasted over an open flame. Well aware that Lechon is more Argentine than Filipino, but it's still endearing and amusing to me that they choose this name!
Great food.
Had about 6 total dishes. All were exceptional. Friendly helpful staff. Not a single bad thing could be said about the experience
My favorite restaurant in Portland!
Lechon is my tried and true and go-to for everything! Good day or celebration - Lechon. Bad day or high stress - Lechon. Friends visiting from out of town - Lechon. I've never had a bad meal and I haven't missed a cucumber cardamom margarita there yet! The food is always incredible and you get great quality and quantity for the price!! I hope they never change!
Good food, service okay
This is a busy place that you will need a reservation for, especially on a weekend. We ended up waiting for quite a while for our table, even with our reservation. Food is tapas style and shared by the table. We ordered an empanada, mushrooms and flank steak, all of which were good. The cocktails are fun. Because it was so busy and we were just a couple, we were overlooked by our server who was serving some larger groups, which was a bit irritating.
Superb!
Wow! The food was just excellent. Not some of it, all of it! We had 8-9 dishes between the 3 of us and every one was prepared with great flavor. Even the vegetable ceviche which frankly sounds somewhat boring was outstanding! A must visit in Ptown.
Downtown Portland gem
The highlight of our Portland visit, we started with individualized takes on favorite cocktails like the customized old fashion with rye and cardamon. All the tapas sizes offerings were amazing, crisp pepper empanadas, complexly flavored mushrooms, spicy Peruvian chicken lead up to the moist pistachio cake with strawberry ice cream. The jellyfish aquarium added a soothing completion to a wonderful dining experience.
