Came here with a friend on Thursday line was about 20-30
Came here with a friend on Thursday line was about 20-30 minute wait. Place was clean and there were side dishes and water already on the table. I got the original king and karrage I enjoyed both dishes. The noodles were really soft and chewy. I loved the broth was very rich in flavor, but not too strong. The karrage was nice and crispy with some soy sauce on it. The sauce was sweet and went well with the chicken. Super enjoyable will definitely come back!

Came in around 6pm on a Saturday and this place was packed! Took about an hour 15 to wind around the ropes and be seated. I'm not sure lining up is the most efficient and I wish they did a text option as you are in the mall and could use time more wisely, but it is what it is... maybe makes more hype than this place deserves. Parking is ample, but you need to pay after 2 hours ($1 thereafter) so it's not super expensive, but factor it in. Ordered the Chicken Karaage and the pot stickers to start. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the dipping sauce was a nice touch. The gyozas were filled with I think pork and shrimp and even though they were a little burnt, the flavor was there. Service was prompt and very nice and even thought this place is small, they use the space well.

Each step of the Ramen Nagi experience feels very detailed and thought out. From the design and feel of the space to the bursting flavors, I really enjoyed my time here. I like how you can customize your bowl to your liking and there's also a variety of sides to choose from. The chicken karaage was AMAZING! Super crispy and I wasn't expecting it to be sweet but it was perfect. The egg salad served on the side really caught my attention as well. Not even the star of the show lol but I LOVE the bean sprouts placed on the table while you wait. The staff is super attentive and efficient. Makes it worth the long waits in line but it goes pretty fast -- I waited maybe 15 mins. Will be returning if I'm in the area!

this place is a cult favorite around here! their ramen is pretty good but it's not worth the wait for me. if i happen to catch a short line that might convince me but it's not smth i plan for :) the noodles are a great texture but the broth is quite salty. you can customize your order nicely on an ordering sheet which is convenient!
Came here a second time! The wait was long, about an hour.
They do their best to accommodate by giving you a menu in line and collecti your order. Once seated, the ramen comes out within 5-10 minutes. Really authentic and yummy ramen. This time I got spicy and learned I prefer non-spicy ramen from this restaurant. (Personal preference) still very tasty! Ambiance is busy and restaurant is always full.

I have been here 2 times so far and both times have been absolutely fantastic and tasty. If you don't mind a little bit of a line this is a top notch ramen shop. Every worker has been lovely and efficient.

Amazing broth (I had the original king)! I also really appreciate how you can choose saltiness, oil content in addition to the spice level it really is unique in that sense and really caters to the customer's needs.
I love the concept they have of building your own ramen
I love the concept they have of building your own ramen bowl. They make you choose your options while you wait in line which helps with seating you right away! Their service is always impeccable and their food is always good. Try out the chicken karage while you're there!

Ramen was pretty good, beware of the wait line it will be long. Come early if you can, but overall the ambiance was ok.
Long lines kept us off for a very long time but it was my
Long lines kept us off for a very long time but it was my older one's birthday and he requested for ramen. The occasion definitely deserved one of the best ramen places so we decided to weather the line. There were about 40 people ahead of us on a weekday night, a waiter met us in the line and gave us menus to mark our choices while we waited. I got the veggie king and we also placed an order for chicken karaage later in the restaurant though it was not on the menu. The chicken karaage came with an extra thick batter, it could definitely give KFC a run for its money in terms of the thickness of the coating. Jokes aside, I didn't like it. The veggie king was another story though. The soup was a lusciously thick, creamy and flavorful, the two hash browns it came with took it to the next level. I recommend pulling out the hashbrowns to avoid them getting soggy. I took the regular spice level but it would have been even better with an extra dose of spice. I stole parts of a soft boiled egg from my husband and it was delicious so I recommend getting that add on as well. I got the thin/regular noodles, less oil and more garlic and it was perfect for me. I wouldn't change anything the next time except increasing the spice level. Though the bowl looked huge I managed to complete it making it the first time I ever completed a bowl. Overall, it was definitely the best veggie ramen I had in the bayarea. My husband got the spicy king and he said it was the best bowl of ramen he had as well.
I had the vegetarian option and I didn't think it would be
I had the vegetarian option and I didn't think it would be very flavorful because of that but it did not disappoint! The food had so much flavor and now I understand why there's such a long line for it all the time! Once we got seating everything was clean and and we were served quickly. The only advice I would give the customers is put the hash brown on the side right when you get it or it gets soggy.

Waited about 15 min to be seated but prior a host will hand you forms for you to customize your ramen. Love that they do this because it makes the service run more efficiently. I also enjoy that the menu is small so it helps indecisive eaters like me to make a decision faster. Once seated the host David recommend to me the veggie king and my boyfriend the original and I was satisfied! Thank you to David again for being able to inform us about the menu in a kindly manner. It made our experience more pleasant. I enjoyed the veggie king a lot. The broth actually tasted like pork broth and came with spinach mushrooms, hash browns and I added a soft boiled egg. My boyfriend enjoyed his original king and was even more happy that his ramen was worth the price point. It was delicious and tasted like a well balanced meal. Would love to come back here to try red and green king!
Been in the Bay for five years now and every time I go to
Been in the Bay for five years now and every time I go to Valley Fair mall, there is a huge line for Ramen Nagi. Not gonna lie, I didn't understand what all the hype was and didn't have the patience to wait in line. Well tonight my partner and I got really lucky and the line was super short on a Sunday night so we decided to give it a try. I now completely understand the hype. This place is INCREDIBLE. Usually when a place is super hyped up, it doesn't live up to the hype but this place totally does. We both ordered the original with an egg as well as one order of the chicken Karaage. The broth is absolutely the best tonkatsu broth I've ever had. It's super flavorful but not too heavy. The pork belly is very tender and melts in your mouth. The chicken karaage is also bomb. The dipping sauce has eggs bits in it which is very unique. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the line up if we find the line isn't too long again! Also while waiting in line, one of the staff was so nice and gave us advice on what to order and the history of Ramen Nagi. Great service too!
Awesome food and vibe! You need to stand in the queue but
Awesome food and vibe! You need to stand in the queue but worth it. It has spice level suggestions, for me 5 was good.
I must say I did like the food but the long line was kind
I must say I did like the food but the long line was kind of annoying. Not sure if worth the wait. The place was alright. I like the fact that they gave you menu options so once you are seated you can just order asap. Did not wait too long for the food came out fast so not mad at it. Ramen was satisfying and delicious. I did try each flavor so nothing too crazy. I did not like the chicken I assumed that it tasted like popcorn chicken but it was actually sweet. Not a big fan just my own opinion. Employees are attentive and quick no complaints.
We waited in line 20 minutes to be seated.
My ramen arrived with rubber bands in the broth. I was able to waive a server over. She whisked the bowl away with no comment. 20 minutes later my new bowl arrived but not the way my lunch was ordered. The server brought over the order slip to try and prove me wrong. Sadly she did not read the order and mentioned that she would fix it. Seriously poor service. I shared that I did not want the ramen as my family had finished their lunch. Really poor experience.
This place had been on my list for some time and I was
This place had been on my list for some time and I was eager to try it after being recommended it by some friends for a while. For our dinner, both my gf and I got the original king flavor with extra garlic as an option. Overall, we both really enjoyed our bowls but I thought the level of saltiness in this ramen was a bit overwhelming for a tonkotsu base considering it was the "normal" saltiness level. If you're looking to add spice to your bowl, I would highly encourage getting higher than a level 3 option as I found it to be hardly spicy at all and had to ask for extra spice on the side.
Very tasty.
Like the pork belly, always ordered extra piece. The line is a little shorter now ( probably because the cross hall has the fast service noodle . That is good news for us -the Raman Nagi fans
I've had many different kinds of Japanese ramen in Hawaii,
I've had many different kinds of Japanese ramen in Hawaii, Japan, and Korea and I think Ramen Nagi's ramen is mediocre. I wouldn't stand and wait for a long time for this one.
Absolutely delicious bowl of noodles.
The wait isn't as long as it looks because the noodles comes out fast and it's so delicious that you finish it fast too. We finished our noodle within 15 mins. Tastes like ramen I've had in Japan.
Lengthy wait. Good, but not worth the wait.
Line is too long. The flavor/umami factor isnt worth the wait time in my opinion. i guess the bright side is that you can customize everything to your liking...
Every time I walk by I saw a line of people outside, then
Every time I walk by I saw a line of people outside, then people told me this is the best around. Recently I noticed on weekdays after 1pm or so, the line is not long, so I gotta go check it out. I was seated within 5 minutes, and I ordered the original with their recommendations. Over all it's a very good bowl of ramen, but imo I like Hironori Craft Ramen better. Maybe I didn't like the garlic added. I'll go back again to try without garlic. But even if I like that, it's still not a place worth me waiting an hour for.
2nd time braving the line at Ramen Nagi!My first ever visit
2nd time braving the line at Ramen Nagi!My first ever visit to Ramen Nagi was at their Palo Alto location and we didn't have to wait long (only the 15 min prior to opening and we got seated within the first wave. We decided last minute to get ramen while at the mall and there was already a decent line 20 min before opening. We also ended up waiting extra as they were staggering how many people they let in despite having open seating. Not too too bad of a wait though considering we thought we wouldn't make it in the "first wave" although it was more like the second as there was a long break in between seating people. We were a party of two and got seated with others at their communal table which was fine as the tables were lengthy enough that it didn't seem like an intimate dinner with other strangers and each side had their own utensils and seasonings that could be grabbed rather than sharing amongst everyone. We enjoyed their self-serve seasoned bean sprouts at the table while waiting for our ramen! They hand you forms while in line to choose how you want to customize your ramen (soup choice, ramen thickness, spice, garlic and sodium level). No appetizers this time around but their karaage looked good! We tried their black king (squid ink) and green king (basil) which were pretty good! The black king was a bit sweeter than expected but the thick noodles were a great texture and came out piping hot!Not my go-to spot for ramen but if there's ever a chance I won't have to wait too long, then I might be down to go again to try their other broths
This review is not for food.
The ramen is still solid. We were seated close to the kitchen today and the guys working inside the kitchen were super foul mouthed. They were working and chatting with each other and continuously cussing in Vietnamese as they spoke. Ver loudly, for the entire time we were eating, which totally ruined our mood. If you decide to have an open kitchen that your customers can see and hear you perhaps refrain from cussing. Urg!
Worst chicken karage ever.
Super greasy and the seasoning is on the sweeter note. Just not what I have always accustomed to. Ramen itself is cooked well but the broth is overrated; not worth of waiting in line for a long time. Service? There is no service it's a quick meal. I like the condiments including the sprouts.
Hands down the best ramen in the Bay Area.
We waited 45 minutes in line on a Friday night, however it was totally worth it. Personally think it's better than marufuku. We ordered the pork ramen and original ramen. Both were flavorful, juicy and hot. Will be back soon.
Flavorful broth, tasteful chicken karage very juicy and not
Flavorful broth, tasteful chicken karage very juicy and not dry. My favorite ramen place in the Bay Area. When you come expect a very long wait because it's that good!
If you've ever been to Valleyfair, chances are you've
If you've ever been to Valleyfair, chances are you've probably always seen a huge line outside of Ramen Nagi. My boyfriend and I were able to try it for the first time today and (at least for us) the wait was thankfully not too long. We came about 10 minutes until they opened for dinner (5pm) and only waited about 10 minutes once they opened to be seated. The service was very efficient, like a well-oiled machine, and upon waiting for them to open, one of the employees came out to hand everyone a build-your-own menu and took time to explain the process if you were new, which was really helpful. In terms of the ambiance, I will say it's not a place I would frequent if I wanted to have a relaxed and casual pace for my dining experience. However, I do understand and recognize that it is a smaller establishment in the middle of a huge mall, so it's to be expected. Really the most uncomfortable part for me was sitting so close to other guests to the point where either of us can hear the others conversations and/or we were too close that it didn't seem like an environment where we wanted to chat. Because of this, I would say it's definitely a kind of eat and go establishment. I will say though, they do offer a "bar" like seating for guests dining individually which really helps with the aforementioned awkwardness. As for the food, I would say that the ramen at Ramen Nagi is pretty good, but that's also coming from someone who doesn't have a great gauge or knowledge of what makes good ramen. The tonkatsu broth was rich, salty, umami, and creamy almost and, personally, paired beautifully with the thicker noodle. The portion is more than satisfactory and overall we left happy and full!
I really don't understand the hype for this place.
Their are better places with shorter waits for the same price in the local area. The ramen was nothing special.
Really delicious Ramen and loved the soup.
Got the extra Ramen on the side and great that it's served when you are ready, so it won't be sitting there cold.
I got the Red King when I visited, and it was pretty good
I got the Red King when I visited, and it was pretty good overall, with a good amount of spice! The one thing that I absolutely could not stand at the end was how sweet they made the ground pork toppings. The sweetness was so overpowering that all of the other flavors went away as I was finishing up the bowl. If they can fix that aspect, then it would be a 5 star review.
The best ramen I've ever had! I absolutely love the
The best ramen I've ever had! I absolutely love the customization. I love the tonkatsu broth sooo much. The broth is so flavorful and rich, but not too heavy. I usually get light salt, light, oil, regular garlic, spice, level 1 with pork belly and cabbage. I like the thin noodle and I prefer it soft to extra soft. The pork belly is so flavorful and soft. I prefer it over the chasu. 100% worth the wait!
Had to wait for about 30 minutes or so on a Friday
Had to wait for about 30 minutes or so on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Once we were seated inside the food was bought out pretty quickly. There is exactly one vegetarian option but it was pretty good. This is not the best place to visit with young children since the the tables are very close to each other or you will be sharing a long table with strangers. But if you are good with that, want to try some authentic ramen, and don't mind waiting in line for a while, check it out!
This is one of the best places for ramen.
It's convenient that it's located in a mall but the line was insanely long.Service: The staff were kind and efficient. My family and I waited almost 2 hours in line and the line never died down! When we were getting closer to the front of the line, the staff handed us the form to fill out what we'd like to order so when we sit down, they can immediately prepare our order.Food: We ordered the Original King and the Black King with the addition of tamago. Everything tasted absolutely delicious! The food was hot in temperature. The broth was creamy and flavorful! The noodles had great texture. The eggs were cooked perfectly! We also got 1 Chashu Rice to share. We loved the taste of the chashu and the sauce over the rice. I highly highly recommend coming here. It is one of the best ramen I've had. The wait can be very long. We came on a weekend. Maybe try coming on a weekday.
Except for the long line and wait .
. this place is delicious! They sometimes don't have certain things on that show on the menu so that's a bit disappointing. Food though is on point.
Ramen was 10/10!This is a Ramen spot in the mall.
I hope they open an outside location soon too with more room. This was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint!I've can only remember maybe 3 good ramen I've ever tried in my life and this is one of those 3. The thin style ramen noodles was perfectly cooked. J liked how you can customize the saltiness of the ramen as more than one occasion I've had ramen that were way too salty I couldn't finish it.We also ordered the crispy gyoza and it was also very good with the sauce it came with,The line is long and sometimes go around the floor so be early if you must.
Great food at good prices, but it's worth the wait in long
Great food at good prices, but it's worth the wait in long lines. Luckily, long lines move quickly. We like eating there because the food and service is quick as soon as you place an order.
Best in California!
Food 5/5 - I ordered the original king and it was extremely good. Best ramen in California! Service 5/5 - The service was very good despite it being very busy. Value 5/5 - The food was worth the price. Atmosphere 4/5 - The wait was extremely long but it was still worth it. Overall 4.75/5 - Love this place! Would definitely eat here if in the area.
Amazing
Amazing veggie ramen. I avoided the mushroom. The hash brown gives it a nice crunchy feel. My brother and family who eat nonveg were a little sad that all those ramens were pork based which they don’t eat. Edamame was amazing also.
