Moono New York Reviews from The Last Year
Mono offers a hotel-like service in a restaurant setting,
Mono offers a hotel-like service in a restaurant setting, evident in the thoughtful gesture of the waiter neatly folding the napkin back onto the table as diners leave. Complimentary to the dining experience are two dishes: chawanmushi and kimchi. The food at Mono is highly anticipated, with my personal favorite being the crispy fried chicken. However, in comparison to traditional mom-and-pop Korean restaurants, some of the other dishes lack in flavor.
Agree with reviews noting the space/building to be the most
Agree with reviews noting the space/building to be the most distinctive aspect of this restaurant. Unfortunately we were seated in the upper level, which feels cramped and dark with low ceilings. The food ranged from okay to good, but felt both heavy and bland (mushroom sotbap), or salty and sugary (galbi jjim). I enjoyed the meal, but felt ill afterwards, possibly from the egg amuse bouche or raw salmon. Service is good, though dishes were rushed and brought out more or less at the same time. Would have preferred the monetary equivalent of 2-3 hearty meals in a more traditional Ktown restaurant.
Moono ended up being such a style over substance place
Moono ended up being such a style over substance place which was majorly disappointing. Kimchi was fresh kimchi but it was a little too fresh so the flavors didn't rlly have a chance to marinate and the cabbage was too crunchy. Free onsen egg thing was meh. It was a little too eggy but the broth was good. Scallop dish was very refreshing and the flavors melded well together - cucumber, Korean pear, scallop. However, there was barely any scallop in there and it had this weird jelly thing that created an odd texture juxtaposition that I didn't like. The mushroom sotbap somehow lacked an umami mushroom flavor and just felt buttery. Cold noodles were fine but nothing to write home about. My favorite part of the meal was the ice cream. Both flavors were good and unique. This would be the only thing I'd come back for, and even then I wouldn't really crave this. Sad to say that despite a cute interior the food was subpar. Heard the drinks are good but we didn't try any.
Modern Korean restaurant with a beautiful interior and
Modern Korean restaurant with a beautiful interior and exquisite food. You will be able to enjoy the ambiance and actually be able to have a conversation as this place is quiet compared to other Korean restaurants in the city. 1. Uni Sot Bap (sot bap = rice claypot) - 7/5 I've tried so many uni rice dishes in the city, and this would be the best I've ever had. Personally I enjoyed more than uni rice from Atoboy. Server mixes the rice for you when served. 2. Galbi Jjim - 6/5 Meat was soft and tender. I'm not a big fan of Galbi, but they were so good. It comes with mini pieces of rice cakes. Even if you've never had Korean food, you will love this! 3. Mung Bean Pa-Jeon (pancake) - 6/5 I was surprised that they had this on the menu as many restaurants do not have mung bean pancakes (usually seafood or kimchi pancakes) If you want to order an appetizer, I strongly recommend getting this. Crispy outside but chewy inside. 4. Dried-Aged Branzino - 5/5 This was recommended by our server. No effort needed to remove fish bones! Fish is pretty big and sauce that comes with has a great kick to it. I found it decent/ok and my husband loved it. 5. Hoe Muchin - 6/5 It comes in a Korean earthenware pot and portion was generous. Spicy red sauce paired well with kim (dried seaweed). Be aware because this is spicy! 6. Yukhoe (beef tartar) - 5/5 Tasted good, but I would suggest getting Hoe Mu Chim over this dish if you can tolerable spiciness. *Recommended for all sizes of groups (couple, friends, family). maybe suitable for special occasions than casual! *This place is really popular, so ensure you make a reservation. *All parties must arrive to be seated. *Desserts are OK, not too special.
This place is actually one of the best restaurants I've
This place is actually one of the best restaurants I've ever been to!! It's so cute on the inside and the service was top tier. So many dishes are so unique/delicious! They start you off with a complimentary soup/poached egg which was amazing and soothing. We had 6 people and they recommended 9-10 dishes which was perfect for us. We got the Fried Chicken, Pyongyang Cold Noodle, Uni Sotbap, Beef Tartare, Galbi Jjim, Hoe Muchim and Bossam. Honestly, everything was sooo good but I was most impressed of the Hoe Muchim which featured raw salmon and you wrap it all in seaweed. The only dish I would not order is the Pyongyang Cold Noodle. It was a lot less flavorful than expected and I've definitely had better ones elsewhere. Overall, 11/10!
Beautiful space.
Expected more from the food from the chef but left slightly disappointed. My favorite was the kimchi lol seems slightly heavier on the fish sauce. Soodae Ssam - I usually don't love soondae but enjoyed here a lot. Mung Bean Pancake - it was fine nothing special. Salmon Hoe Muchim Kim - okay Foie Gras Noodle - very light, $32 with small pieces of cut up foie Pyongyang Cold Noodle - the worst, so bland and flavorless. Galbi Jim - very good and tender but my friend said it's done very transitionally that can be easily made at home. Buckwheat Dessert - enjoy the flavor but don't love the ice cream texture (too creamy) Burdock Dessert - enjoy the flavor but don't love the ice cream texture (too creamy)
Service was great.
Food not so much. And acoustic even less so. Read all the reviews before going and ordered the popular dishes. The complimentary egg soup and the spicy fried chicken off the menu were the only things that were good. Skip the uni sotbap. The uni gets cooked in the rice once it gets mixed and turns into bitter goo. We could only finish it with the complimentary kimchi. Keep your fingers crossed that you won't be seated next to loud people. It's hard to converse across the table. Maybe if they change the menu I'll try this place again.
4.5/5 We ordered Beef Tartare, Galbi-Jjim, Mushroom Sotbap
4.5/5 We ordered Beef Tartare, Galbi-Jjim, Mushroom Sotbap (our favorite), and Pyeongyang cold noodles. Mushroom Sotbap was my favorite. The server was really nice that he mixed and served it for us. The meat dishes were both great. Galbi-jjim was the best I had in the States. I wouldn't really recommend the cold noodles, the broth was mild but a little more salty than what I expected&had back in Korea. Love the atmosphere and interior design of this restaurant. Would def visit again :)

Celebrated my birthday here with my bestie & it truly is a beautiful restaurant. The ambiance is both cozy & intimate inside of a well lit space - perfect for both date nights and girls' night out. Reservations are highly recommended and easily made through Resy, but we did book it as soon as the spots opened up (about 2 weeks in advance). Between the both of us, we split the hoe muchim + kim, galbi jjim, uni sotbap, and pyongyang cold noodles. The hoe muchim was definitely our favorite of the night. Flavors were well balanced, portions were generous, and we received a refill on the kim! Galbi jjim was also really tasty & tender. I've read in some reviews that thought this was similar to CDG's, but I actually liked Moono's more. The uni sotbap was good, but not my favorite of the night; I'd argue that Hortus' uni truffle rice is better than this. And lastly, the pyongyang noodle was worth trying once to satisfy my curiosity, but my preference is definitely for typical mul naengmyun with vinegar + mustard. If you do decide to try the cold noodle, you can ask for the mustard + vinegar on the side in case the Pyongyang version isn't your favorite either. It's a bit on the bland side, and really tastes exactly like it sounds - cold beef broth with somewhat bland noodles. Our drinks were tasty, but also came with a huge block of ice; not the most worth it considering the price point. Service was friendly, but not the most attentive. Our waitress looked a bit frazzled at different points throughout the dinner, and also didn't really have a chance to check in on us. It was quite busy though. Also not sure if they intended to present anything for a birthday celebration (given that it was written on the receipt), but we were never given anything. Definitely on the pricier side, and better reserved for a fancier splurge dinner.
My friends and I have been collecting a saved folder of NYC
My friends and I have been collecting a saved folder of NYC restaurants to try from all those IG reels we see. With only 3 days here, it was a tough choice but we decided that Moono would be a must try. Absolutely loved the cathedralesque ceiling and terracotta tiles. The place was clean and orderly. Our servers were very nice and helpful. The short ribs were plentiful, as a matter of fact, I was kind of surprised with the amount. Moreover, it was very tender! The fish tasted slightly fishy (I've been told I have a very sensitive tongue towards fish). However, I remembered that the waiter said to eat it with the radish in one bite. So, I did that and voila, the slightly fish smell was gone! MAGIC! GENIUS! The Fois Gras noodles looked sad so we didn't expect much from it. To my surprise, it was quite flavorful. Overall, the ambiance was superb, service great, and food good.
Lovely place!
Awesome little place. Great ambiance (DJ rocking vibes on a Thursday night) the place is beautiful and funky. They have a whole huge wall full of old records in back, and little niches were you can sit couples making it really romantic and interesting. It’s really cute and sweet. Good Korean food. Menu could be more expansive, have a bit more choices. The potato wedges and street corn appetizers were great. My pork loin, the bulgogi hamburger and fries, trufle japchae were all tasty entrees. And the mochi were fantastic little desserts. I’d go back. They only take cash or Amex though, so come prepared. Great experience.
A unique and artsy experience with excellent food to boot!
You enter through a flower shop into a dining area that is both unique and quirky with soothing jazz playing over the sound system. Start your meal with one of their signature cocktails, you won’t be disappointed! The food is well prepared and seasoned to perfection! Ask your expert server for recommendations! We would return in a heartbeat!
Worst experience ever!!!!!!!!
Tbh this is THE worst experience ever to have dinner in the city. I reserved a table for party of 5 @5pm last night. When we got there some waitress assigned us to a rectangular table that is obviously only suitable for 4 people. Thus three of us had to sit shoulder by shoulder on one side. My wife asked if she can sit in between (on the shorter side between the long ones) the waitress said NO. Then we noticed that there was a bigger rectangular table for 6 (3 seats on each side) available right next to us and asked if we can switch over the waitress then became upset and said that’s the table for 6 and this is the table for 5. Later their manager came over we raised a question that for rectangular tables if you don’t allow people to sit in between it’s either for 4 or 6 people not possibly for a party of 5. The manager seemed really arrogant and said I’m sorry but this is our policy and turned around leave without any further explanation. We ate our food since one of my daughters didn’t want to switch restaurant after the long ride but later we surprisingly found a mandatory 18% tip was already included in the bill with additional tips (range from 15-25%) still suggested —— they didn’t even give us a chance to complain through the tipping. Btw, during our entire stay, the bigger table for 6 was completely empty but they just decided that we don’t deserve a comfortable dinning experience. This restaurant doesn’t accept Visa or Mastercards which we only found out by the time we arrived (after a $250 deposit already paid for the reservation). The food is just so-so with normal prices comparing to other places with same level decoration (great for taking pictures). Most of the waiters are polite while waitresses are usually with bad attitude or being super arrogant. They have a tiny and stink restroom from where you start to realize your money is indeed well spent…Will NEVER go back to the place and will definitely WARN anyone who wants to go just because some of the pictures that they saw from the internet — the same mistake that we made to choose the place…
Enjoy your time in this restaurant! You will have fun!
Nice place, nice people, very good vibs. Music is high. Not too much but you have to stay close to your frinds to not miss the discussion. Food is ok. I strongly suggest.
More of a grift than a restaurant. Look elsewhere.
This place is unashamed of using every trick they can to cut their costs and maximize yours. They charge a $100 cancellation fee within 24 hrs (I asked and yes, they really will charge you). They only take AmEx, buy you can use their ATM and they can pocket that fee from you. The wait staff is non-existent. It seems like a normal table-service restaurant, but you will not know your server's name, they will speak minimal English and they will rush both to bring you plates and to take them away (even if you aren't finished). A wholly unprofessional operation with decent but not amazing food. The only amazing thing is the interior.
Perfect!
The food here is truly incredible. The wings are exceptionally crispy and bursting with flavor, making them some of the best in the city. Additionally, they offer wonderfully creative cocktails with an Asian-inspired twist that are refreshing and packed with delightful flavors. The ambiance and decor inside are breathtakingly beautiful, creating the perfect atmosphere for a date or to impress someone special.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
