Starting the review on a positive - the food was good, had great variety and tasted yummy Now, DO NOT GO IN THE RAIN Seating is outside underneath a permeable tarp with slots. Not only will your food get soaked, but you will too! And you'll have to pay for it We asked to relocate to one of two tables underneath an actual structure, but don't worry, a bachelorette trip was not prioritized over a staff reservation. Upon asking to relocate, the hostess approached us rudely and said "we agreed to this" when we made the reservation. I'm not sure anyone agrees to get rained on for hours while dining The waitress also had no solutions to our problem besides a picnic umbrella and rags. They didn't do much. She also never apologized for the troubles (nor did she smile once) When presented with the bill, we asked to take off the auto gratuity for the poor atmosphere/service. Which was done - but not without being called "bitches" from the staff Overall, if the weather is bad and you wondered what it was like to dine at the rainforest cafe, this is the place to go

Brunch was great at Josephine House! The avocado toast was super flavorful. Not incredibly filling so I'd recommend getting a pastry. The lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious. They were super fluffy and fresh, I'd definitely get these again. The service was good but not outstanding. Also, it does get a little loud inside if it's crowded. The building is very cute and I loved all the flowers. Make sure to make a reservation because this place fills up quick!

The food was great I got the steak and eggs and what I like about it was that you got more than just steak and eggs you got quite a bit. Service was great, everyone was very friendly and the food came out pretty quick. 10/10 :)

This is an adorable spot in Clarksville with a nice outdoor patio and repurposed-vintage-home vibes. The menu is pretty unique and eclectic - albeit, PRICEY. The drinks are wonderfully crafted. I had the Beef Tartare with Whipped eggplant Dip ($22), and BF had the Spring Lamb Ragu ($36). The tartare was super interesting, it was heavy on the Middle Eastern spices and oils. The pasta was delicious and very generous on the protein - I loved the fresh pea shoots and gamey taste. The portions are huge - we definitely could have split an entree! The staff are polite and warm.

We shared the pancakes and shrimp & grits--both were outstanding. I'm not usually a pancake person, but these were amazing. The shrimp & grits blew me away with perfect seasoning and just the right amount of spice. Tip: make your reservation as early as possible, even days in advance--they book up fast. The staff and our server were warm, welcoming, and made the visit even better. This spot is officially on my "must-have" list whenever I'm in Austin.

Josephine House is a charming little blue cottage turned restaurant. The interior is cozy and intimate, almost like you're dining in a friend's home. Inside, there are only about eight tables, but there is also some outdoor seating. I stopped by for happy hour on a Friday (happy hour is Tuesday-Friday, 3-5 PM). They offer half-off snacks and $10 house cocktails -- a great deal for the quality. I started with a refreshing Hugo spritz. I shared the cheese and charcuterie board, which included three cheeses, soppressata, chicken liver mousse, pâté, fresh blackberries, olives, and grain mustard, served with a basket of bread. The chicken liver mousse was the standout -- silky, rich, and absolutely heavenly. I also ordered the roasted beets with strawberries and feta, which was fresh and vibrant. Parking was not terrible; they have a tiny parking lot with four spots, but there are also parallel spots available along Waterston Ave. Overall, it's the kind of place that's perfect for a relaxed afternoon treat or a low-key date -- cozy, charming, and delicious.

Everything was cooked to perfection and fairly priced. I highly recommend this establishment. The food was absolutely delicious--an excellent choice for brunch in Austin!

Austin is flooded with so many average brunch spots just like this: places that rely on quality ingredients to justify jacking up the prices all while serving these standard, generic, forgettable dishes that lack inspiration. It's culinary noise taking up space but not really elevating the food scene. For that same money, I'd rather support a spot that brings bold flavors, creativity, or maybe global influence to the table. At least give me something memorable. Places like this are a dime a dozen, but I guess if you just want "OK", it's an option. The Good: Service is excellent. Warm, attentive, and efficient. Also, the nugget ice here is a small but mighty win in the brutal Texas heat, especially if you're dining outside. The Meh: The food is HUHHHHHH. To be fair, it's quality ingredients executed in a general well-prepared manner, but it's boring, safe, and...unimaginative. The best way to describe it. There's nothing culinary-forward or inspiring happening here. And for the price point of the dishes, the lack of creativity is hard to justify.

Josephine House has been a place I've grown up visiting, celebrated holidays and family milestones, and recommended to countless friends. I brought a close friend visiting from out of town to enjoy Steak & Frites night -- something I've looked forward to many times as a regular Monday night guest. The evening started off well with our server, Stevie, who was attentive and friendly. We genuinely enjoyed her service through most of the meal. During dessert, we asked if we could order one final glass of wine before wrapping up. When we asked this, Stevie's entire demeanor shifted -- she became super annoyed and frustrated that we asked. We immediately offered to cancel the order if it was an inconvenience, but she responded by rolling her eyes at our faces, audibly huffing, and walking away abruptly without a response. Moments later she returned, poured a splash of wine without a word, and then we watched as she walked over to the manager, hostesses, and other waiters/waitresses one-by-one, obviously gesturing and pointing toward us and speaking about us in plain view. This left both of us feeling extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. At a restaurant of this caliber -- especially one I've held in such high regard for years -- I never expected to be treated this way. We were polite and appreciative throughout the night, which made the sudden hostility even more bewildering. What added to the disappointment was the lack of any acknowledgment or follow-up from the manager, who saw this unfold but made no effort to check in or address what happened, especially after we paid over $200 for the night. I don't think I'll be returning after this and do not recommend coming here. At least ask to be served by anyone but the server Stevie.

Just like the name says, it's definitely a house. Cute little outdoor seating area. The vibes were....interesting. I don't really know how to describe it. Service was fantastic. Would have appreciated a few more choices on the food menu, but our server gave great suggestions and I was happy with my meal.

Had a dinner date on Monday night for steak frites - lots of excellent things to recommend this venue. Charming ambiance, we dined outside. Excellent service, Sarah was welcoming and created a sense of ease - while the support people definitely kept a professional eye on delivering our every need. We tried a variety of dishes & all were tasty and presentation lovely. The only disappointment was the ribeye was a tad salty. Did I mention- 3 courses with bottomless wine included?!

This was the first restaurant I went to when I moved to Austin. They really set the bar high. Ambiance was 10/10 the meal was 10/10 service was also amazing. We got the steak frites and a burger and both were to die for. Monday night is steak night they have an amazing deal on steak.

They're biscuits are out of this world delicious and of course can't not have a mimosa or 2. The house is gorgeous, the service always professional and the vibe so nice and relaxing
I came out on a little solo date on a Friday night.
The ambiance delivered every little thing I needed to feel cozy and like I was at home having a high quality dinner. I also loved that even though it's slim pickings. They offer nonalcoholic mocktail options. The food was delicious. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and and steak & frites. The service was great as well. I hope to be back again in the near future.

It was so cute inside and the front lawn area was adorable also! Lots of outdoor seating but inside was limited. Would recommend a reservation if you prefer one over the other. The sourdough was delicious, we requested it be swapped in place of the croissant for the breakfast sandwich. All of the breakfast pastries and breads were very tempting, my favorite was the orange cardamom tea cake. Took on star off for prices and limited seating.

Where I ran into an issue and why I'm giving this place one star is service. Terrible terrible service. When we arrived we were greeted by a rude waitress when we made a request she told us "I don't care". Huh? There are nicer ways to say no/yes. During our meal my husband fall off his chair really badly on his back and not even one staff member came out to see how he is doing. Not even asked him if he was okay. I will not be retuning here. If you are looking for a nicer brunch experience look somewhere else.

Personally, I wasn't a fan of it as it didn't taste fresh. Since the pancakes were recommended, I had to get them. They were delicious!! They weren't too sweet, definitely a must. The shrimp and grits were flavorful and cooked beautifully.

My friend got the lox ontop of hash browns which was good however portion was a bit small for the price . The heater wasn't working where we sat so it was pretty chilly. Decent food but a bit overpriced.

The manager Bobbie was incredibly rude and made the experience less than desirable. He was less than accommodating and rude. We spent $600 on the food and we felt rushed to leave at the end. The outdoor was empty and we were asked to leave. We will not be returning to this restaurant ever. There are too many restaurants in Austin and they need to work harder at keeping their customers.

What a disappointment
We were quite excited to dine at Josephine House and booked several months in advance to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. When booking on Open Table we were give the choice of a “standard” reservation or an “outdoor” reservation. Since June in Texas is quite hot, we chose the “standard” option. Upon our arrival at the restaurant, we were shown to the very hot and sticky patio area. We immediately informed the hostess that we had reserved indoor seating and were told that “standard” meant outdoor seating. This made absolutely no sense, but we tried to play along and tough it out. It immediately became clear to us that it was going to be miserably hot, and my husband was just three weeks removed from a stay in ICU, so we made another appeal to the staff. We had noticed empty tables inside so thought it would be an easy switch. We were immediately treated as if we were being untruthful and basically not worth their time, even though we produced documentation that clearly stated that we did not make an outdoor reservation. The staff member told us that the best she could do for us was to give us an inside table for one hour as there was another reservation after that time, and we would have to hurry so we were within that time frame. I explained that we were having a family celebration and really didn’t want to feel rushed, so she shrugged and left us to swelter in the heat. Rarely have I been treated by a wait staff with such a rude, dismissive attitude and at no point were we granted an apology. A simple apology and a bit of kindness would have gone a long way and perhaps made us more inclined to attempt to stick it out, but we felt extremely unwanted. We chose to leave and took our dining dollars to Chez Zee where we were treated to a lovely meal by people who actually seemed appreciate our business! What a novel concept! I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention that my future son-in-law gave Josephine House a call after our debacle, and inquired how to book an indoor table on Open Table. He was told to select the “standard” option and he would be guaranteed indoor seating. Right. They are a hot mess there in every sense and unless you enjoy being treated poorly, I would take my business elsewhere.
Would return for a break in typical local Tex-mex or BBQ options.

Freezing and disappointment
So disappointed! We ate at the bar in a freezing indoor instead of a sunny table outside which was supposed to be not available.

As long as you can get a seat at this place, you will love their food and drinks that they offer.Getting into this place when you don't have a reservation is like a crap shoot, might work, might not, but there will probably be a hefty wait.Once getting in however, you'll be pleased that the overall vibe and environment is laid-back, prompt service, and good food.The green and apple juice was super refreshing albeit a little $$. Cold brew and pot of hot coffee came out very nicely! For starters we got their Nutella bun, this turned out to be amazing for sharing! I got the English muffin breakfast sandwich, absolutely delicious and it really hit the spot!

Average mimosas. Very good croissant...maybe the bakery is the way to goUnless you're trying to be "seen" by the west Austin "elite", go elsewhere

The house is adorable, the service was ok and the food was quite yummy.It was a good experience but nothing special, especially for the price. The service was ok, we kept seeing different people coming to our table so not exactly sure who our server was. The food was really good, but not memorable enough to come back again.The inside was pretty, and the bathrooms were clean.Probably wouldn't recommend to a friend, but worth a shot if you're in the area!

Our go to breakfast spot when we host out of town family & friends. Avocado toast is a proper meal. Very good breakfast drinks. Pastries are always a great starter. Service is always quality. Inside or outside, it's always a good vibe.

The portions are small, which makes everything overpriced. We don't mind paying for good tasting food and decent portions, but we had to fill up on bread. I wish the waitress would have told my husband that the crudo was more like a small appetizer. The cheese board had nothing impressive. The red snapper tasted good, but once it got to room temperature, I was not impressed with the taste. The table is the smallest table I have ever given, and not very comfortable. If you are a big person, you would be even less comfortable. It is also one of those places where you hear everyone's conversation but your own.

The creamy, indulgent texture of the cheese was the perfect balance with the gentle sweetness of the cheese. The outside was beautifully delicate and the center was a heavenly melty softness. The flavor was subtly complex, with a pleasant mix of, saltiness, tanginess, and richness. All in all, I highly recommend trying burrata, and I'm sure you'll find it as flavorful and memorable as I did!

I got the rice bowl with chicken -- save yourself the trouble and go get a bowl from Honest Mary's that tastes way better for 1/4 the price.Service was apathetic and took forever though at least was cordial. It gets an extra star though for the vibe.

* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at Josephine House Austin to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
