The Capital Grille Seattle Reviews from The Last Year
Best steak house in Seattle.
The Ruth Chris is way overrated and the ambience sucks. At the Capital Grille you actually get what you pay for.
First time coming here for our entire party.
I found parking at a nearby parking garage using spot hero. When they called to confirm my reservation they asked me about parking and I said I had already had it-not sure if that means they have a preferred location for you or if that means parking is validated, I'm not sure. I made reservations for my husband's birthday. When we arrived, you immediately notice how dark it is inside. They asked to take my coat and hung it up for me. The decor was a little weird to me, lots of animal busts mounted throughout the walls. Giant paintings of patriarchal portraits of men were also on all of the walls- it felt like maybe it was a men's club of sorts & I questioned the history. I was a little relieved to see that there was at least one painting of a black man... started to give me a "Get Out" vibe. The restaurant was quiet-eerily quiet. The kitchen was close to us and it was so quiet I don't think they even talked out loud to each other. Tons of servers/wait staff. All wearing white lab-looking coats (see the vibe?) There aren't signs for where the restroom is, so I had to ask. My husband described the hallway to the bathroom perfectly: "the hallway looks like you shouldn't be there...and then you keep going waiting to be stopped by the staff... and that's when you see the restrooms" lol Small table lamps at each table and low lighting give it a relaxing ambiance. Due to the low lighting I saw a few people at different tables pull out their cell phone flash light in order to read the menu. When we got to the table we noticed that there were confetti gold stars on the table top along with a card propped up saying "Happy Birthday Douglas" inside was a hand written card signed by the restaurant. That was such a nice touch. Really surprised my husband. Drinks: capital cosmo & the passion fruit mojito. Both were tasty and did not skimp on alcohol content. Bread basket came with quite a few different types of bread and a huge pat of butter. Mains: filet Mignon, bone in rib eye, NY strip, & roasted chicken breast with mushroom & Parmesan risotto I had the filet and it was SO SOFT. I have never had it be so soft before it was delicious. Everyone else at the table also enjoyed theirs but heard a lot about the roasted chicken breast with mushroom & Parmesan risotto being "so good" multiple times lol Sides for the table: mashed potatoes, asparagus, and truffle fries. For anyone who doesn't know, the mains do not come with a side (except for the roasted chicken). You order your meat and then you order sides for the table, which then you share like family style. The sides were really good. I was meh about what we ordered (we have some picky eaters in our group) because they are all things I've had before elsewhere, however... the mashed potatoes were so flavorful and not because they were overly flavored with garlic like other places. Idk what they put in them but it was some of the best tasting mashed potatoes. The asparagus was drizzled with lemon-lemon on asparagus is not my first choice but it was still good. The truffle fries came plentiful and they were not only tasty but the consistency of the crispness of the fry and the softness on the inside was delightful. They gave complimentary dessert for my husband for his birthday. The plate said "happy birthday" in chocolate and included the following desserts: cheesecake, flourless espresso chocolate cake, seasonal berries. The flourless espresso chocolate cake was dense and rich. The espresso is pretty strong and the cocoa was equally strong. Came with whipped cream and berries on the side. If you're not a coffee fan, this isn't for you. The seasonal berries were fine, nothing fancy, just sweetened berries. Now the cheesecake... I am not a huge cheesecake fan, they are a little too dense and rich for me. HOWEVER, this cheesecake had like a crème brûlée crust on top so it was slightly caramelized crunch and the cheesecake was light. Almost like a whipped cheesecake? Not your normal heavy dense cheesecake at all. I wish all cheesecakes were like that My husband said he liked the restaurant and would come back. I'd like to visit other steakhouses in the area before deciding if I'd come back.

5 stars always at any location! Main reason I make it a mission to seek out the Capital Grille at any major city when I travel the US. Service was great and my rib eye was cooked to perfection. Ambiance and decor were great and a just all around great experience once again. Boston location and this one rival each other.

The food and service were amazing! The steaks were cooked perfectly with the fat melting in your mouth. The drinks were delicious and well worth what we payed. As for the cheese cake, I've never had one as good as this. 5/5 for us, thank you for helping me celebrate my wife's 33rd Birthday!

We went to The Capitol Grille based upon previous experiences at other Capitol Grilles. However I was quite disappointed in the Bone-In Ribeye steak. I was expecting a tender and and juicy steak which it was not. Also this was the first time I had a Ribeye with so much gristle I which I couldn't eat. Also one of the recommended red, Washington ones was not good especially when it be similar to the one we first drank. This was the first time I had a bad experience at a Capitol Grille.

The food is fantastic! Bursting with flavor throughout. Lunch before shopping and had a hard time selecting as everything sounded great!
Topnotch Dining in Downtown Seattle
The service at this restaurant is outstanding. I dined here as part of a large group, and we were given a semi-private dining room. We had a limited-option menu but there were still excellent dishes to choose from. The atmosphere was upscale and refined with an attractive decor. I enjoyed the Filet Mignon steak, which was very good. I highly recommend the Capitol Grille in Seattle.

Order: * Cold shellfish platter * Lobster Bisque * New England Clam Chowder * Porcini Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye with 15-Year Aged Balsamic * Butter Poached Lobster Tail * Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese * Sauteed Spinach * Mashed Potatoes * Coconut Crème Pie * Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake * Seasonal Berries * Capital Grille Cheesecake Pros: * Welcoming old school, yet refined steakhouse atmosphere with smiling, friendly and attentive service. * The Chowder and Bisque were both spot on, flavorful. * My steak took up the entire plate and was cooked perfectly, moist and tender. * Pasta in the Mac 'N' Cheese was surprisingly slightly al dente, which is so welcoming considering most restaurants overcook their noodles in the Mac 'N' Cheese. * Spinach and potatoes were both excellent. * The Cheesecake was lightest and fluffiest cheesecake I've ever had, combined with perfect flavor, makes this the best cheesecake I've ever had. * I love coconut and the crème pie was excellent, light, airy and not overly sweet. * The poached lobster tail was perfectly moist and tender. Cons: * The lobster on the cold shellfish platter was overcooked and tough. The oysters were very small, too small for my liking. * The balsamic sauce was far too overpowering. They should have either put less of it on the steak or put it as a dipping sauce instead. Comments: * Overall, this was a very pleasant dining experience and if you're interested in going, I think you'll be pleased. However, I have to easily dock the score due to the tough lobster appetizer and the way overpowering balsamic sauce.

From Yelp what caught my eye was the Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tails. For an appetizer I ordered the New England Clam Chowder. This came in a small cup and was very hot. I allowed it to cool and enjoyed it to the last drop. Along with my entree I selected the Sam's Mashed Potatoes, a half portion (perfect for just me). I elected to have the fresh ground pepper on everything. Very good. After I tasted the lobster, I was surprised that it was cold. I touched the other lobster tail and it was cold too. Once I mentioned to Amber she had the kitchen warm it up, no problem. They also replaced my mashed potatoes so they would be warm. I finished off my meal with the Coconut Cream Pie. The huge wafer cookie was also yummy. Amber offered coffee and that sounded like a perfect pairing with the dessert. I left feeling very full and satisfied. Thank you!

Amazing service!! Came to this restaurant to celebrate my anniversary with my partner. Made a note that it was our anniversary and we felt so special and welcomed. Drinks were yummy, on the lighter side but I don't mind that. We always start with oysters so gotta order those. They were informative about the oysters and it was very fresh. Weren't as informative with our other dishes but that's not much to complain about. I asked for my steak rare and they delivered it perfectly. The lobster it came with was unfortunately very tough and rubbery, I had high hopes for it because of the oysters but it is something I'd never order again sadly. My partner ordered the lamb and this is where his love for lamb bloomed, it was juicy and nicely seasoned! Honestly wish I ordered that over my steak and lobster. Had to leave a little early and our server was so kind to offer us a little dessert to go which meant so much to me! They were very attentive and always delivered on our requests (not that we had many) The establishment definitely attracts a more mature crowd as I've been here before for a business meeting, on the quieter side as people are usually here for formal occasions. I will definitely be coming back for the amazing service as they had made me feel so welcome in their restaurant:)
The food here is always fantastic.
The steaks are so delicious and tender! The side dishes are generous and delicious. Amber was our hostess and she and her support team provided outstanding service. I love the ambiance because it is fine dining with just the right amount of casualness. It's not stuffy and it is welcoming regardless of the wealth of their patrons. This is a great place for dining in style.
A place not to be missed
Service and choice of dishes Very tasteful cuisine Wine recommendations The cozy and not ostentatious setting A restaurant not to be missed in Seattle
Grilled to Perfection
Read the reviews, it's how we stumbled across this gem. Rib eye was bang on, juicy and tender. The sides were perfect and plentiful for 2 people to share.
Extraordinary experience!
If you are looking for an extraordinary experience (and happen to be celebrating a birthday), look no further than the Capital Grille Seattle. Our evening will go down as one of my top five birthday dinner experiences (and I'm now 63!). First, there was a phone call to confirm details...Then a warm welcome as we were led to a cozy booth sprinkled with tiny stars. But the evening really took off when Maddie Osborn arrived at the table. Maddie has a graciousness that immediately charmed us! She was able to interject her flawless and professional service with not only humor but also great knowledge of the menu. We pretty much followed all her recommendations ( Crab Cocktail, Wedge Salad, Bone-In New York Steak, Brussel Sprouts and Roasted Mushrooms). Everything was flavorful and delicious! When it came time for dessert, Maddie send out a couple glasses of bubbles to go with our Chocolate Cake and Cheesecake (beatify presented on a large platter. I will truly remember this evening always. Congratulations to Managing Partner Josh Westcott for creating an environment that inspires the best in everyone. Highly recommended!
Wonderful dinner in Seattle!
My daughter had gone to a Captial Grille in Pittsburgh and wanted to try this one in Seattle based on reviews. We were not disappointed. Our server Amber was wonderful. We were seated closer to the kitchen than my daughter would have liked, but we found it quieter than the main dining area. My daughter ordered an excellent cabernet to start our evening. The bread basket was wonderful (I ate way too much of the bread). We shared an heirloom tomato and burrata salad, which was split for us by the kitchen. My daughter had the filet mignon and I had the sliced filet mignon with onions and mushrooms. As sides we chose the mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. We were too full for dessert but wanted coffee after dinner. Amber brought us a small sample plate of dessert (she said she knew we said we were full but wanted us to taste the chocolate cake. Wonderful! We would definitely go back.
Excellent Restaurant
Excellent meal in an emblematic US restaurant. Antonio's service was efficient and very friendly. Price consistent with the quality offered.
Pre Cruise Dinner
I wish I could transport this restaurant to Florida. It was one of the Best Capital Grills we have ever been to. The food and service were beyond amazing. If I could it would be rated more than 5 Stars Great evening thank you
Very dissapointing
This is our first visit to Seattle, and we have tried to book the very best restaurants. The Capital Grille is the first restaurant we visited, and their Filet Mignon with some sort of butter on it just didn’t taste nice. My wife’s seabass was also very disappointing and didn’t taste of anything. The best part of the dinner was the bread and the Whispring Angel. We have visited very many cities in the USA over the years and are rarely disappointed. The service was good. They also have an excellent manager in Steve Smith. Only other tables seem to be enjoying their dinner. We chose steak with a butter and Seabas with a miso sauce recommended by our server. If I returned, I would order a steak plain. I think we were just unlucky.
Great restaurant and great atmosphere!
The food is great. The place is very clean and everything is well-done I will definitely come back next visit
