The Ainsworth Phoenix Reviews from The Last Year
My daughter and I went to the Ainsworth after an event in
My daughter and I went to the Ainsworth after an event in downtown Phoenix. The staff was attentive and the food was excellent! We had an issue with a waitress and that was unfortunate. I'd like to applaud the manager in charge today 5/5/24. That wonderful lady deserves a raise! She turned around an unfortunate experience into a great experience in which I could I could compliment her professionalism all the while my daughter and I exchanged with the waitress nicely asked for our bill and to leave. Thank you to the manager today! Your professionalism was much appreciated.

Came here before a Dbacks game and received amazing service from the bar staff! They were definitely busy but we got our drinks promptly and our bartender, Charity, was so helpful and fun! We ordered the fried Mac & cheese and it was great! The vibe was so fun and energetic! I will definitely be coming back!

Relocated to the area less than a year ago, therefore I am exploring and getting acclimated. As a minority woman, I don't recommend this place. My old fashion was good, but the reason for 2 stars is because everyone else in the building was offered a Sunday's seltzer for free, but my table. We brought it to the attention of the waitress she apologized and offered us one for free. We appreciate her efforts, but minority women please be mindful that you may or may not be treated as an equal.
Easily the worst review I will ever write.
The service in this place was absolutely atrocious! Went before a DBacks game and you would think this place understood the necessary pace. Not at all! First round of drinks took 10 minutes to deliver. The place has 1/3 full. This should have been a red flag being an hour from gametime and a short walk to the stadium. Why so long? Drinks were wrong. Sent beers back and 10 minutes later our "correct" drinks appeared. Wrong again! I had to take them to the bar to get it sorted out. Ordered wings. Half dressed, half plain. All came out plain. If you say you can do something...do it! Then the bill arrives! -Restaurant Fee: 3.5% (what is this??) -Event Gratuity: 20% Charging a RF should be posted or we should have been told. Pre-charging 20% in a half-filled place was ridiculous! What is the incentive for the servers to work hard? The absolutely stunk at their work yet they still got 20%. I promise this...I will NEVER return to this place. I highly encourage people to avoid this place too, if you want to avoid frustration.

Wings were ok too big tho look like they been injected with steroids. They don't honor the $15 for $30 deal on yelp so don't get finessed
In all my 51 years of life, I've never experienced worse
In all my 51 years of life, I've never experienced worse customer service. I basically was an employee of The Ainsworth. I found my own table on the patio, alerted staff no one had been helped on the patio (all tables were full), got my own menus and silverware from the empty hostess stand, asked 5 different employees 7 times for a soda... I truly think I should've earned a wage. Once ordered, the food did come out fairly quickly, but no drinks to be had until I was 1/2 way through the meal & had even gone to the bar to try & get a drink. The bartender let me know they were understaffed and I should go back to my table & wait. I contacted a member of management the next day through email since I knew that would be impossible to accomplish while I was at the restaurant, and I was going to a game after lunch. He assured me he'd take care of the issue. I emailed back a few times to see what resolution he might offer and got no response. At a minimum the 2 drinks for my party should've been refunded. Great location across from the Footprint Center & downtown Phoenix, but I'd stay clear if they're busy. We got The Ainsworth burger & fried pickles - just meh, but maybe it was because I was dying of thirst.

The food was surprisingly good Burgers and fries (bar food) Nice staff. Sports/club vibe , Super loud music /DJ Even outside , where we tried to escape from it. Too loud for lunch. Appropriate for nights. I would not go back. We stayed because of time restraints at civic center event

Made reservation for 2hrs in advance of concert at Footprint Center. Location was great - thank goodness because took every bit of 2hours to get our food, drink, eat and get out of there. Service was worse than horrible. Three tables of people left because no server even came to them within 30 minutes of their being seated. We thought we were doing great with time - what a joke! Ordered drinks and apps right away. Took 20 minutes for 6 drinks (3 which were premade). 2 drinks came wrong. Only 1 out of 2 apps ordered was brought 40 minutes after ordering. Luckily we ordered our dinner when first round of drinks came. Dinners came out one by one. My dinner arrived at 6:55 and was incorrect. 3/6 were incorrect but couldn't be sent back as we were worried about time. Server forgot about our 2nd app. She brought it with the dinner. When ordering, I asked for a salad instead of fries. Server didn't let me know it was added cost. My dinner came with fries (not salad) so I mentioned it. She brought salad at 7:03 and charged me for it even though no time to eat. The 2 drinks we ordered when our app came didn't arrive until after we paid our check but were brought to other table because server was just dumb. Two servers bumped causing one to spill 5 full glasses of water on floor. No one cleaned it up for 10 minutes (we timed it) and no effort was made by staff to tell people it was slippery. Our table alerted people to be careful. Honestly the food was good but the servers were just dumb and inefficient. I would NOT advise anyone to go to this restaurant before an event. We told server we needed to be out and our time was not respected. Oh, did I mention the server first presented us with wrong check. I did say something (even though amount was much less). Then the "correct" check had too many entrees and drinks we clearly did not order. It was just a huge mess!

Perhaps the worst service I've ever gotten in my life!! We can't completely blame the waitress she was obviously doing the best that she could. where was management? Why weren't there enough wait staff, and bar staff? We probably waited 20 minutes or more for a drink and then another 30 for dinner, never did get any dressing for my salad ! And to automatically add 20% just rude . What's even inappropriate, perhaps illegal is adding a 20% tip to drinks when you get them at the bar!!
If you value your time, you will skip this place altogether.
Noticed it was near the Footprint Center so we went to get drinks and dinner before a concert. The drinks took about an hour to be served and the kitchen was equally backed up. We never ordered the food because we didn't have time to wait for their kitchen. Another customer told us they were there a month earlier and the service was the same. I asked him why he would go back, I said I would not.

We got there during lunch on a Sunday and they were slightly busy but not crazy busy. (No wait) Once we were sat at our table, we waited about 20 minutes to even get greeted by a server. We ordered our drinks which took 30 minutes past that to get to our table. When our server dropped off the drinks, she was not ready to take our order but we asked that she come back as soon as she could because we had an appointment we needed to get to in an hour and judging by the time it took to get greeted, and our first drink we knew it might be a while. She never came back. At this point, the restaurant had died down and there were only a few tables that were seated with people. Another 20 minutes and without seeing any sign of her anywhere so I asked one of the other servers to please find her so we could have her take our order then another 20 minutes past and finally she appeared from wherever she had been hiding, and I was able to flag her down and at this point the restaurant was not at all busy. She dropped off the food and she didn't bring any of the sides we asked for nor did she give us silverware or napkins, or check on us. She just disappeared from site anywhere in the restaurant again after she dropped off our food. Then we got the bill and we were charged for the sides we asked for and told that there was 20% gratuity added because there was an event later that night at 8 PM in the area. Awful. Sitting at the bar the bartenders are attentive but anytime we have sat at a table the service is pretty bad but this one was by far the worst. It is a cool place to hang out and get drinks or watch a game but the service is absolutely horrendous and then adding 20% gratuity unable service ? Not cool. There was another person complaining about the exact same thing to a manager, but I didn't have time to wait an hour to get my concerns addressed because we were already late for our event. We were here for over two hours. Being in the service industry for 15 years I'm pretty empathetic about subpar service because you never know what's going on in that person's day, but this was just no service at all. Servers shouldn't disappear completely for 20-30minutes at a time from the floor, where they cannot be seen or found or keep an eye on their tables. That's just crazy.
Service was terrible.
Food was subpar. The music was WAY too loud I could barely hear the people around me. Overall disappointed and wouldn't go back. I give this a 2 not a 1 bc the host was super friendly and kept checking in bc the servers were chatting in the back corner.
Service was horrible.
Drinks were not great. And over price. We order some drinks and were not what was described as on the menu
Still trying to figure out what they are.
Prior to its opening it was promoted as an "upscale sports bar". They try to straddle being a sports bar, restaurant, and night club. Frankly, they fall short on all 3. Inconsistent hours, service, and menu have kept this from being a regular spot for us. It can be quite entertaining out front about 1am when the fights break out though!
Post Correct Hours
Went to the restaurant on Sunday at 7:45pm. Their website says they close at 9pm. The lady was closing up the restaurant and said they are closed. I asked her why their website says they close at 9pm but they were closed early. She had no idea.
Service was good atmosphere mediocre food was very lame.
So disappointed pictures on Instagram look good but I would never go back not worth it.
Pre-gaming for Suns basketball
We pre-gamed here before a Suns game while visiting Phx. The restaurant was very chaotic. They take reservations but didn’t seem to have real host station and process for honoring them. The location however was very close to the arena. The bar and restaurant were packed. The beer was cold and the servers friendly. The food was bar food, but very mediocre at best bar food. Wings were limp, tenders were not crisp, our salad eaters said the dressing choices were not pleasant tasting. This is not an eating destination, and while I cannot say for certain is not a step up from the food served in the arena.
HORRIBLE PLACE!!!
This is what the Ainsworth Phx did to us and several others that showed up at the same time for their reservation on our recent visit. We made reservations on September 15 for Monday October 10. We knew it was going to be busy downtown for the PINK show and this was for our pre-Pink concert dinner. On Sunday October 8th we got an email to confirm that we would make our reservation. We confirmed that we will be there. On Monday the 9th at 2:26 PM we get this email “Hello! We’re looking forward to having you at The Ainsworth tonight! Just so you know, we are having a ticketed event for a pre-concert Pink party that will be $15 per person at the door. Let us know if you have any questions!” I did in fact respond and ask for clarification and got no response. So, we decided to head down early and join the pre-party since we now had to pay for preplanning our reservation. To our surprise when we arrived, we were told that they were full and that they cancelled all reservations. Now had they said that in the email they sent out a few hours earlier we could have diverted to a different location before heading downtown. I was with my family that flew in from Minnesota, so this turned into a horrible experience. The entire downtown area was packed and we could not get in anywhere to eat. The manager we dealt with at the door was pretty much “not my problem”. This was my go to before the Suns game and other events that I frequent downtown. I will never step foot in here again and will discourage anyone else from going here also. The Ainsworth’s and their management team should be ashamed for chasing a few extra bucks!!!
