Spring Court Singapore Reviews from The Last Year
Don't trust the 5-star review on google
The food is actually decent and I would have given it 4 stars. However, the staff told us that we can get a free red bean soup if we leave a review on Google. Upon doing that and seeing the 4 stars, the staff said that we can only get the soup if we give them 5 stars. There you go. That's why there is an abundance of 5 stars review for this restaurant. They are engaging in shady business tactics to get it. In other words, don't trust the 5-star reviews on Google.
highly do not recommend this place!
We should have read the most recent 4 reviews via G platform (it was so new 3 days and 1 month ago), which stated: "Used to be excellent many years ago - Disappointed with the tasteless food," "SO FREAKING UNDERSTAFFED & SMELLS LIKE A TOILET," "Horrible experience," 🤨 It started with a poor first entrance experience; they should have listened to what the customers were going to say (we had a table number as a friend was already seated inside) before rejecting us due to arriving early. Secondly, a historic restaurant shouldn’t have a problem planning the dishes served to the table. However, they came so quickly in batches, and they even decided to serve the free steamed birthday bun (dessert) with the third dish. The basket was so big that it blocked the space on the table, and we had to ask them to remove it first. Thirdly, the Peking duck served was not as crispy at all - totally not worth the $85. Fourth, waiting for the duck meat to be cooked into spicy salt took $12 and 50 minutes... yes, it was nearly an hour! The actual duck was prepared at our table at 20:04hrs, and after asking the staff three times to check the order, it finally reached our table (overcooked and tasteless) at 20:55hrs. I have photos as proof, so I didn’t extend any extra time to this!! I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the service recovery for the above errors from the kitchen or anyone at Spring Court - it was really bad for a manager level (the male manager). He just decided to put the free dessert red bean order receipt (that’s all). He was highly unimpressed and showed signs of annoyance! Disappointed!! Even when we gave feedback to another male manager during the bill, he just brushed us off and was unapologetic, then urgently went to charge our card. One young lady server wearing a red uniform was okay; she was friendly. The only two dishes we enjoyed were the popiah and shark fin soup. I feel bad for bringing my whole family to this establishment for the first and last time! The food was really average or even below average and not worth the time and money. For this price point, you would be able to get better quality food at other local or Chinese restaurants! I highly do not recommend this place. The total damage for 6 adults and 3 kids was about SGD 82 per headcount, with no alcohol.
A Treasure in Chinatown
Spring Court is a timeless treasure in Singapore. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff very helpful throughout your visit. I enjoyed my favorite the Chili Crab served in a large claypot. Their sauce is delicious and a very nice sized crab with large claws. The mantou were perfect and great for dipping in the sauce. What a welcoming place and a great experience.
Awesome dining experience
Spring court always has the best food and friendliest service crew . Conveniently located next to Chinatown mrt . Do remember to make reservation in order to get a seat .
Limited choice in Spring Festival
Bad experience. Limited choice in Spring Festival. Most of the recommended menu are unavailable. Wait half an hour for one dish.
Get out of your hotels & go here!
Chinatown favourite! We ate here this evening following a recommendation (we asked where locals eat) and were not disappointed. We were taken care of by the amazing Sherine Chong who made sure we made good choices! She gave us amazing service. We had peking duck which was served initially as a starter then the residual was taken away and fried with salt & pepper. Absolutely fab! Make a reservation this place is busy because it’s great. Thank you Sherine, see you in Edinburgh one day!

16 years later, still stunning!
I was sitting with my wife at this restaurant tonight trying to work out the last time I ate here, turns out its was about 16 years ago! I had to hunt this place down, it used to be consistently the best Chinese food, the good news is its still as amazing today as it was then! Lots of memories including ordering far too much (they are extremely generous with servings, their small isn't!) This place I have to say, even got better, they have robots bringing the food to their servers and they have the most amazing hostess Sherine Chong, this lady was so super friendly, really looked after us well, made our evening just fantastic. Thanks Sherine and everyone there, I hope its a lot sooner than 16 years until I'm back there again!
Heritage restaurant with excellent food and service !
Had a great business meeting in this authentic and charming restaurant. The lobster glutinous rice was delicious . Love the almond coconut dessert. Reasonable price and excellent service . Highly recommended.
Year-End Thanksgiving Dinner
Had a very good dinner with friends with excellent food at reasonable price. We were attended very to by Mgr Ken Tan and Mgr Sherine Chong & Team. They were attentive and catered to our varying needs. Management ought to retain the services of such excellent staff who bring quality service that’s unusual to such a set-up in this restaurant.
My wife and I tried this place on a recent trip.
Their app ordering function was down so a real human had to come up to us and take our order. We didn't order too much because there are so many food options in the area and my Singaporean friend told me to prepare my stomach. Their pig trotter vinegar was done very well, also their charcoal custard bun, and the mala bihun noodles with clams. Our server, Sherine, checked up on us and made some conversation sensing we tourists, there was a person checking that out tea cups were filled and the food came out on a timely manner. Good experience!
Enjoyable family dinnner
Enjoy the great food. Ordered the roasted chicken with minced prawn. Quite a unique taste. The fish maw soup as usual my favourite and the cabbage with dried scallops was beautifully done. Sherine and the team are friendly and service was quick and good.
If I could give zero reviews, I absolutely would.
This is a total TOURIST TRAP. AVOID AT ALL COST. 100% DISHONEST. I normally give a restaurant the benefit of a doubt, but I'm going out of my way to write this to warn all tourists to STAY AWAY from this restaurant that is supposed to be an old family restaurant. They charged us over $40 of extra fees for items we never asked for, used or wanted. Napkins we never asked, peanuts we never asked for, tea we never asked for and an extra dish we never asked for. Ridiculous.
