Son and Garden San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
If you want an Instagramable or TikTok aesthetically
If you want an Instagramable or TikTok aesthetically pleasing restaurant then this is the spot for you. Food wise, not so much. Ambiance: 8/10 Beautifully decorated interior perfect for all of those seeking a cute aesthetic spot. Flowers galore. Food:5/10 We got the Bibimbap, loco moco, and some French toast dish. The food was OK, but nothing outstanding. We also got some alcoholic beverages. I would say be careful if you have a low alcohol tolerance because their drinks were heavier on the alcoholic side. Everything was super good presentation. Service: 6/10 Service was OK. If you've ever been to an Asian restaurant before, then you know the particular type of service that you will get here. Some people mentioned a rude waitress and I think I know who they're talking about when we went she just came across as, direct and no funny business type in my opinion. The other waiters were nice, but don't expect a five star restaurant type service. Overall: Go for the aesthetics and pictures if you want. Food is mediocre at best.
Mouse In The House: I went to have a nice morning
Mouse In The House: I went to have a nice morning breakfast for my anniversary. I don't usually write reviews, but this one was important. Halfway through my meal, I heard a squeaking sound coming from the fake rose decorations next to me. I looked down and saw a baby mouse, squeaking and stuck to a glue trap on the floor. Honestly, I felt bad for the mouse. My spouse told the staff, and they took the poor mouse and threw it in the garbage. This made me feel even worse! It was a complete turn-off. I understand that many restaurants may have rodent issues, but traps should not be placed where customers sit! Especially, glue traps!!! Put them out of their misery, not a slow dead on a trap in the main serving area. This incident totally ruined my experience. All I could think of afterward was mice potentially crawling all over the plates they have by the kitchen piled up when the restaurant is closed ( and I'm pretty sure they don't rewash all of them before serving.) They gave us a 30% discount, but honestly, if this were my restaurant, the meal would have been free. The staff were very apologetic and friendly during our time there. Food was tasty, but I couldn't get over the squeaking mouse next to me. Despite the staffs kindness, I won't be back and felt it was important to share this experience.
Food is fresh and flavorful, very pretty! Staff and service
Food is fresh and flavorful, very pretty! Staff and service were fine. The only thing is, the location, -the location is... well awkward. It's in a pretty shotty neighborhood. You're literally stepping over poop and other miscellaneous things on your way to the restaurant so going and coming from this place takes away from the vibe of enjoying the restaurant. Otherwise, its wonderful place to celebrate all things pretty!

If I could give a "zero" stars or a "-1" to this place, I would! The service is THE WORST YOU can imagine! The waitresses have terrible attitude from the get-go. Immediately when we started the order she told me and my friend: " you better be sure of what you are ordering because i am not goin got take it back if you don't like it!!!" WOW! What a "terrific" way to make a customer feel welcome! When i only asked for pancakes with the souse on the side, she said NO! Can't do that" And many other horrific remarks that i don't care to share... When we left no tip, she DEMANDED IT!!! Yes, you understood correctly - DEMANDED A TIP!!! I have NEVER experienced such an atrocious treatment at a stupid breakfast place!!! DO NOT GO THERE!!! Unless you want to be humiliated of course. It will ruin your mood and an experience of San Francisco FOREVER!
My parents and I went for my mom's birthday and let me just
My parents and I went for my mom's birthday and let me just say that the service was ok. The servers made us feel rushed. When we booked our reservation it stated that we have a 90 minute limit; which is great but we felt like we had to get out of there. Ambiance is very cute. Food was okay.
I came here with a couple of friends.
We made a reservation ahead of time and got seated once most of our group had arrived. They sat us down in a side area instead of the main building area, which was pretty nicely decorated with fake flowers and other props. When we visited, they had a Little Mermaid or "Under the Sea" theme. I tried the Sakura latte, which came in a cute bear cup. I thought it tasted more like warm strawberry milk rather than flowery, but my boyfriend said that's how other sakura drinks tasted from Japanese stores. We also tried the bibimbap and belly ranchero. The bibimbap was pretty good, not exactly traditional, but the flavors were nice. I would have liked a larger and juicier piece of chicken, though. The kimchi fried rice was nice. The belly ranchero was interesting, but I didn't like something about the taste of the pork; it just didn't come together that well. The service was decent, no complaints. However, the place includes a 20% service charge, making it pretty expensive for what you get. Overall, the food was okay, and the theming was nice, albeit a little cheesy. Maybe I would try some of their sweet items next time if I wanted a vibey brunch.

We went to Son and Garden recently after they'd been in my Yelp bookmarked restaurants for months, and it was so worth it. Immediately, the indoor ambiance was breathtaking. It's beautiful inside! The tables have QR codes for the menus, and those who took our orders and helped us with our dining experience were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Korean Benedict and the Matcha Mochi pancakes, as well as the I Scream for Ice Cream cocktail and the Into the Forest cocktail. We shared our plates and it was more than enough food for 2 big eaters! The plates and the drinks looked fantastic, and tasted even better. I highly recommend if you're looking for a bougie brunch!
I've visited this place twice.
Once for dinner and another time for brunch. Came here originally because of the photos I had seen. The inside is cute and there is definitely lots of opportunity to take photos. But the drinks were way too sweet, and expensive. Food was decent but again, imo underwhelming. Service was good and they helped someone part of our group get a new meal when there's came with dairy (allergy). If you only care about getting a photo, this is your place. Otherwise, I'd say skip and go somewhere with better food and drinks.
Very shady location but good restaurant! Perfect if you
Very shady location but good restaurant! Perfect if you like dressing up for the occasion and getting your picture taken. I happened to fit in with the theme when I stopped by for brunch with a friend but you might stick out a bit if you don't put some effort into your outfit and it doesn't align with spring flowers and light pastels. I wish there were more choices on the menu since I'm not the biggest fan of asparagus but I ordered the smoked salmon benedict. The asparagus did pair nicely with it and I've never been the type to deviate from what is presented on a menu so it's not a big deal. If you don't mind asparagus and also love smoked salmon i would recommend this dish. The English muffins here weren't my favorite, they were a bit on the tough and thick side which made them rather difficult to slice. But the eggs were poached nicely and the hollandaise had the right consistency on the runnier side and a good zesty hint of lemon. For some reason it was everyone and their mom's birthday this day. The staff do come around with maracas and tambourines to sing happy birthday, so if you're trying to find an experience to embarrass a friend look no further. If you're trying to have a quiet and peaceful brunch experience though, just be warned that this seems to be a destination spot for birthday celebrations.
This food was some of the best brunch I've ever had.
They attended to my and my girls group the best & they even welcomed my fur baby Chanel. Everyone enjoyed it. Would love to come back soon. The drinks were a whole lot of fun too! Good food made w/ LOVE. I love you too chef
Best Brunch - Thrillist
Googled Best Brunch spots in San Fran, Son & Garden was at the top of the Thrill List, so we gave it a try. Awesome! Really popular on the weekends with cocktails served with cotton candy, but the star of the show was the food. The Fried Chicken Benedict was well as the Ricotta Pancakes were both terrific! Suggest making a reservation because there’s a line up to get a table.
definitely a place for pictures and aesthetics! Good idea
definitely a place for pictures and aesthetics! Good idea to get a reservation as they fill up quickly.. everything comes out picture perfect, food, and drinks especially.. we didn't order any ourselves but they are very creative! I will say the portion sizes for what we ordered were huuugeee but still tasty and an overall good experience.

We have tried the Menlo Park location twice and we're pleased both times before and wanted to have cousins try the fare . Excellent as expected, service was great as well as we were greeted promptly though a bit before our reservation We highly recommend Son & garden for their exquisite cuisine excellent service

Finally made it to their San Francisco location, definitely not in a great neighborhood, which made me prefer the one in Menlo Park a bit more. We were early but the place got filled up quick. Everything we ordered came with a huge portion and tasted really good. The drinks were pretty and had the right amount of alcohol for brunch. Since we were early, all the drinks and food were served and refilled fairly quick. Love this place but not too much for SF location.
Peter served my friend and I for her birthday lunch.
Peter was super friendly and quick with our service!! He even sang happy birthday and brought a small dessert
Cool vibe, we went for my birthday.
It had a very cute style with the grass look and a nice photo opportunity soon as you walk in (although the entire place could be ). I enjoyed my food and had good service!! Would like to come back for dinner

Service was fast and friendly! Food was piping hot and DELICIOUS simple but homey. This was the best place for Galentines date with my bestie- I saw all the girlies were there having little dinner dates which was cute! I love the dishes and the vibe, I kinda wish the lighting was adjustable bc it would have been nice to see my food in actual color but it tasted good so A- bc they charge same price for virgin mocktails as they do actual cocktails.
Lovely decor, perfect for celebrations.
Reservations are a must. Delicious food and cutesy presentation.

Horrible service wouldn't take my military ID and proceeded to not serve us and badger us to make sure we wouldn't share drinks, food was old and soggy. Very disappointing
Experience location.
Cute girly decorations. We had spotty service, but food was good. Food highlight is really presentation. Ordered tea, tea pot and cup comes out. I then ask for honey.. no spoon received... endless back and forth just trying to get someone's attention. This didn't sour the experience, just frustrating. Food comes out, crab omlete... different flavors... sun dried tomatoes, capers, celery, crab... not bad, just different. Three main take aways: .. 1. Don't trust reservations when she says, just come we will seat you. No... make a reservation. I called two blocks away, and yet when arrived was liked at like had two heads. Only go if you have a reservation... they pack their customers in. 2. Primary clientele fairly young... think 20-40. Also, a bit urban flavor... in the tenderloin. 3. They add 25% not including tax to the bill. I personally was not impressed with that move. This took our $70 bill to $100. In dirty, but we had two crab omelets... I really don't think breakfast without gold flakes, should cost $100 for two. I'm giving them 4 stars for unique, but will not be a regular.
It was okay.
Honestly first and last time going there. Don't think it's worth it. Food wasn't great. And the wait time was crazy!
What a wonderful experience! Don't let any amount of wait
What a wonderful experience! Don't let any amount of wait time turn you away; Omar greeted us, provided hospital service, shared stories and laughs. Every aspect of this restaurant is charming. If you're looking for an brunch photo opportunity (and delicious food) look no further.
Beautiful and Delicious
So beautiful when you walk in. The neighborhood is sketchy so it was so nice to walk into a beautiful restaurant. Delicious. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes which were recommended in a blog, Girl & a Passport. My sister got the son and Garden omelette platter is so delicious too. Nice staff, huge tv screens on the wall & beautiful Asian decor.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
