Ristorante Enoteca Buca di Bacco Pietra Ligure Reviews from The Last Year
Pro forma menu list, they recommend dishes not listed... with surprise
There were four of us for dinner. We've been wanting to try it for a while given its reputation and the many positive reviews that accompany it. The result was not so positive that we decided not to go back again, also because there are restaurants in the area that in our opinion deserve more both for the food and the prices. But let's get to our experience. Once seated at the table we found a one-page laminated menu in which we clearly read two warnings: One, that they do not serve raw fish there to avoid health problems due to Anisakis (since in other restaurants raw fish is eat I deduce that they don't know how to handle it); two, which serve pasta al dente. As for the list of dishes on the menu, there are about ten. The owner arrived to take charge (in Bermuda shorts and tennis shoes, while the helpful and courteous waiters were in uniform) who, with an arrogant air, listed a series of dishes off the menu, strongly urging us to choose from these, the price of which was obviously in the dark. I wanted fried food which was on the menu but he turned his mouth by saying that fried food was already in the house starter we had chosen. As regards the quality and flavor of the dishes, I can't comment because they are very subjective aspects and what for some is the best may be nothing special for me. Finally, an evaluation of prices: house starter 25 euros (on the menu), white spaghetti with clams 18 euros (on the menu), first course with trumpets, pecorino and tuna bottarga 23 euros (not on the menu), second course with sea bass fillets with trumpets 28 euros (not on the menu), desserts 11 euros. High prices in proportion to the value of the dishes.
A dinner for true gentlemen!!
Excellent food, impeccable service, a vast choice of dishes for all tastes... and portions that will take your breath away!! Absolutely an experience to repeat
Top Quality!
We ate at this restaurant on the recommendation of local people and had a great time. The friendliness of the waiters, the attention to the customer and the quality of the food are absolutely worth it!!! The fish was spectacular!! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Always a certainty
Always number one in the west. Spectacular appetizers, unique first courses, despite the pasta always being al dente, a little too much for some, but fantastic for me. You don't need the menu, just ask the manager, who is a bit particular and needs to be known to appreciate his professionalism and availability. An example, never chosen a food or wine, never wrong. Expensive experience but, in my opinion, with a positive quality/price ratio. Sweet choice and quality I would call it sublime.
Amazing place!
Fantastic place, very high quality food, best fish and desserts we have ever eaten, the owner is also very nice. We go there at least 3 or 4 times a year. We always had a great time.
Experience to forget! “From the series weddings with dried figs”
Environment in an anonymous building in the cellar area, ruined courtyard, and without parking The interior: nothing special furnishings, dazzling lights, tables stuck together, low ceiling, disorder everywhere, practically a corridor, an old armchair who knows for whom, headlights and spotlights... pleasant and knowledgeable staff, slightly snooty owner with an easy joke, too; on the table stood a cup with green chillies cut into small pieces drowned in oil BUT WITH SEEDS... horror, in the land of olive oil!! The choice of food was a bit difficult... bavette with bottarga and artichokes (few) moist bottarga... not dry... pasta too al dente, I would say raw... but the horror was seeing the grated pecorino on the bottarga... Generation of Sardinians who are rebelling. (but it must be a must) a hit of the place given the reviews.. and bavette with clams always crunchy when cooked.. too much! ; We avoided the owner's arrogance by eating without complaining, it was really too al dente, we did NOT ask for the second course, but only a raw artichoke salad... very good and a truly exquisite dessert (revisited tarte tatin). We did NOT understand the somewhat despotic approach of the owner, however the place was quite full, and I must say that we were not at ease, perhaps the location... basically a long corridor... we didn't have the pleasure of taking anything else . We also noticed that we were in a place without a minimum of privacy and with the lights shining on us, we didn't like it. Patience. I think the name we heard advertised doesn't deliver what we thought it would...but a lot less. Obviously it's a personal opinion. We don't understand how he can have a comment from Michelin.. he should be banned from that name. We are Ligurians, used to seafood... this experience was one to forget.
Definitely negative experience
Absolutely inadequate for the fame he has built for himself. I wanted to try it with my wife, but beyond the fresh and good quality ingredients, only the delicious crunch offered before dessert is noteworthy. Well-dressed and very kind staff, arrogant owner in short pants! ...total lack of respect, especially for employees as well as guests. Fish soup which was actually a hake and cuttlefish soup, tasty, but it's not a soup. Raw pasta, definitely raw! 70s atmosphere and absurdly high quality/price ratio. The classic place that thrives on existing customers and has trouble getting new ones.
Hospitality is something else
Fresh fish, well cooked, but nothing exceptional. The rude and opinionated attitude of the manager, the summary indication of the ingredients, the poor choice of wine by the glass made the experience very bad.
Not recommended
Arrogant and at times rude owner, raw pasta, symbolic menu without the costs of the dishes recited verbally by the owner, non-transparent prices, very expensive wines, very high bill. Worthy of note are the desserts….at exorbitant costs and discovered only at the final presentation of the I count. Location from the 70s. An experience to forget! I have eaten in starred restaurants at lower cost!
Family lunch
Very fresh and delicious fish Excellent wine Amazing desserts! Always number one on the Ligurian Riviera
