Léon de Bruxelles Paris Reviews from The Last Year
Cheap
We already knew the Léon chain and were a little disappointed by our Parisian dinner: mussels not very tasty and wine definitely not up to par. The starters and desserts were good, however. Friendly staff and prices in line with Paris standards.
DISHONEST RESTAURANT
Many of the molds were empty. I thought I would find them at the bottom of the pot but no! I mentioned this to the staff who told me they would bring me a little more. After 20 minutes of waiting I called the waiter again who told me that I just had to wait. After half an hour I said there was no point and I had to leave. He still brought a new pot which I didn't touch and charged for it. Inadmissible. !!!
Good for kids
Finding a place to eat with kids in swanky Saint-Germain is not easy, but Leon fit the bill. Yummy seafood & burgers, not super-expensive, fast service. Moules frites so delicious, shellfish pasta really yummy as well, fried fish crispy & moreish. The kids’ menu had options for even the pickiest eater and ice cream as well. Excellent find!
Gluten-free in Paris
For celiacs in Paris...one of the few restaurants where I ate in complete safety! As soon as I entered, they handed me the list of allergens for each course indicated on the menu! I ate some delicious mussels au gratin and, in the absence of bread, they offered me french fries!
Bad experience with rude staff
We went to Leon's at least once a year and always enjoyed it as much. But our last experience this Easter Day 2024 was very disappointing. Not the food which is always of the same quality but an extremely unpleasant welcome by the customer placement manager. In fact, 2 days before, we had reserved a table for 3 people for 1 p.m. We received confirmation of our reservation and we arrived 5 minutes in advance. I don't know if it was because we were 3 women of a certain age and probably not representative in his eyes but this gentleman after a moment of hesitation took us to the back of the restaurant to a table completely enclosed in a really not a pleasant corner. We protested by asking what was the point of booking in advance only to find ourselves relegated to the back of a windowless room when there were several free tables in the first room. Very badly he ended up giving us a table in the 2nd part of the 1st room and without the slightest apology. Fortunately we found a charming and competent waiter who made us forget a little about this execrable welcome. In any case as long as this investment manager is there we will not set foot in this restaurant again.
Commercial elegance to highlight
What elegance...from the director We were so disappointed with the taste quality/quantity of our mussels (perhaps rightly so) that the manager took it upon himself to offer us a second helping An example that must be followed, because a dissatisfied customer is a lost customer. Even if the quality did not convince us, we will probably return to this establishment in a lively area and perhaps with “better seasonal fishing” next time… Thank you Leon
Do not go there. A big dissapointment
It was a disaster. The moules we had supposed to be with butter and white wine but there was no clue of butter. No parsley or anything existing inside the pot. It was plain cooked only in hot water and brought to the table; so no taste at all. The french fries next to moules were fried in very old oil so they were really discusting and also served cold. Because they were already fried may 1 hour ago. Later the sole menuere was also fried in the old oil and the fish was not fresh; it was frozen and tasteless. Leon used to be one of our favorite restaurants 10 years ago. They used to serve the best moules and frites in Paris. This time what we ate was the biggest dissapointment. Don’t go there. I will never go back again.
Decent fare when you know what to expect
Family lunch, December 29th. We came to this industrial restaurant after a trip to the Eiffel Tower. We were freezing and decided to go for a hot pot of mussels. The food was decent. Except for the mussels, which were good, everything else seems to come from a factory. The highlight of our lunch was our waiter Lamin. Welcoming, smiling, professional and humble. The essence of Hospitality isn’t it? And a hardworking waiter, he took care of just under 50 covers alone, without a commis. Service was smooth and Leon as expected. Keep up the good job!
Discriminating Service
Every Leon operates like its own restaurant, so, you can have a very different experience depending on the location. We’ve been dining at various Leon franchise for years and had great experiences. However, this one on Saint Germain is THE WORST! The quality of the service and the food depends on the staff’s perception of whether you are a local or a tourist. Even if you speak French, if the staff thinks you're tourists, you will get an indifferent service at best or just completely neglected, where as the servers were much more attentive to the locals at the table next to us. Also, most of our food came out dry and over cooked, and we had to track down our server to get some water. It's a shame that there's such discrimination in a city that depends highly on tourism industry. Especially with the summer Olympics coming up, it's concerning that the locals would have such low regards for the visitors to their city.
Fine
We ended up at this restaurant by chance. Due to the bad weather we decided to go inside and we were kindly received by one of the employees. Taking the order also went smoothly. The menu is in French. You can scan a QR code to view the menu in English. Certain dishes also have a photo on the menu. We therefore chose the dishes that were highlighted on the menu. Unfortunately the pictures were more appealing than the food actually served on the plate. Everything was tasty, but nothing special. The salad costs almost €20 but contains little variety. The cheese croquettes are tasty but a bit simple. The tacos with guacamole and tuna tasted very good. Thank you!
