Kiln London Reviews from The Last Year
Fun and delicious food
It is a restaurant with a huge bar that serves more or less Thai food and that has undoubtedly become fashionable, because there are cakes to sit on uncomfortable stools, with an infernal noise. But it's fun and people have a good time. It is an unpretentious place that is not expensive and where the food is good. It's not like they tell you, at 7 in the afternoon, that you have to wait three hours to sit down... In my opinion it is overrated. But it's clear that the staff doesn't think that. Come on, I won't be back for a long time...
Really nice
Really nice restaurant in Soho. The food is presented very well and it tastes great. The chefs are amazing. The staff are too.
Ambience is nice, food is delicious (especially the noodle)
Ambience is nice, food is delicious (especially the noodle) but the portion size could have been better. Not sure about the hype but definitely worth of trying if you're a foodie and like trying south East Asian food.
Came by for lunch the other day and it was a world class
Came by for lunch the other day and it was a world class experience! Kiln is a Thai restaurant located in the bustling Soho district and is featured in the Michelin guide as a Bib Gourmand. Made a reservation online and I was able to be seated upon arrival. Dining is available at the kitchen counter, bar, or in the basement dining room. Managed to get a seat by the kitchen counter and it was a very warm experience sitting in front of the grill. Bring a mask if one is sensitive to spices! The waitstaff were lovely and spent time explaining the menu that changes daily. Started off with the chicken and soy along with the rump with ubon relish and they were both excellent. The chicken thigh was grilled to perfection and super flavorful from the marination. The rump was cooked to perfection at a medium rare and the flavors were on point. The chef that made this personally presented this to me at the counter. Amazing! The glass noodles were fragrant and tasty. The crab portion was minimal and the pork belly had a smell to it... ~£30/head including VAT and service for lunch. Kiln takes credit cards and there was a £1 donation that was added to my bill which I requested them to remove...
Relatively good value, entertaining, fire 🔥, fun, taste sensation, just a bit tight !
A wow restaurant, cooking on charcoal, lots of it. Flavours and textures not had before, great staff. Only criticism would be it’s tight but adds to the experience, don’t take any bags! Monkfish curry, noodles, beef were excellent.
Dissatisfied and disappointed
My partner and I attended this venue last Wednesday. I did my research and booked this based on reviews. I can say I was very disappointed with our meal. The quality was not what I was expecting whatsoever. I do not mind spending large sums of money if the food justifys the cost. We were a party of two and we spent £170, which included one bottle of the wines on the lower end of the wine list. The soy chicken was disappointing and the skin was wet, fatty and not crispy at all. The noodle dish was reasonably ok, but I felt like it was like a hunt the crab meat test. We also had beef that was over £60 for 700 grams. The flavour was ok. It was totally under seasoned and I would estimate 30 to 35 percent of it was fat or gristle. Would not go back, and am disappointed with the quality of the food delivered during my experience. On the one plus point, the turnip and beetroot salad was extremely tasty.
IF like very SALTY food
It’s disappointing when a restaurant doesn’t live up to expectations, especially when the atmosphere and service are welcoming. Overly salty food can definitely be a dealbreaker for many. They made it again and still very salty the second time, I am afraid I will not be returning. I check with the one sat next to me, and she felt the same, I had Tin Jool, salty and tough meat, Cornish greens very salty, and rice noodle clay pot was also salty. Over all a very big disappointments.
Underwhelming
The food quality and service was very good, but for the price and reviews we expected to be blown away. The chicken and soy and beef skewer to start were very nice. The hake curry dish was cook well however the sauce it was in was on another level of spicy, and we can usually handle a lot of spice. Overall we were just very underwhelmed by the food and drinks and would say it’s not worth the money.
Wonderful spot in Soho
What a wonderful place Kiln is. I must have strolled past thousands of times making a mental note to pop in. Finally, I did and was extremely pleased with my decision. The staff are incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. The menu is not too large and perfect for a varied sampling. It’s no exaggeration to say we loved every dish served. The claypot glass noodles are superb. Well, it’s all superb! A relaxing environment with some choice music via their on counter turntable. I wish I could have stayed longer to sample some cocktails. Next time. Soon. Thanks Kiln. Keep up the great work. 👍🏻
Incredible restaurant
Kiln is an incredible restaurant. The menu is splendid. Wonderful food which is delicious. The service is excellent. Really nice place.
Brilliant restaurant incredible food!
So I live 20+ years in SE Asia and have to travel to london to eat the best N Thai / Golden Triangle food I've ever had?! Brilliant buzzy busy restaurant fabulous staff and the food is utterly fantastic. Loved sitting at the bar watching all the cooking going on, fire and flames and incredible smells. The sardines were amazing, the oxtail incredible, laap sausage, glass noodles, soy and garlic chicken awesome! The restaurant was absolutely packed, not an empty seat between 1730h and when we left at 2130h so they are doing something right. Ignore the negative reviews this place is very special and you should plan a visit.
Service = good.
Ambiance = romantic & hipster, yet, casual at the same time. Drinks = had 2 cocktails which were tasty but not strong. Glass size is smaller than what I'm use to. No garnish used on cocktails. Food = Thai influenced but had a "western" flavor forward profile. Portions were very small but tasty, nonetheless. 12.5% auto gratuity and 1%(?) charge for something else on all bills
Thai-inspired fusion in London
We were interested in trying this Michelin guide restaurant and I am glad we did anyway. The food was more like a fusion, rather than an authentic Thai food. But it was delicious anyway, we ordered claypot baked glass noodle (a must-try for this restaurant), aged cull yaw&cumin skewer, and chicken&soy. The spices and taste were pretty strong (so Asian, very unexpected and I was definitely impressed by it). We ordered some cocktails as well and they were decent. The price was reasonable for London, but it may reflect how small the portion is. The claypot baked glass noodle also came with very little amount of meat. Sadly, I expected a more balanced amount of carbs and meat together in a dish. But other than that, it was definitely a marvelous experience. Recommend reserving your booking because of the long queue.
Food was fantastic Staff was super friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend it. Make a reservation
Burn baby burn.
..it was nice to be near fire in the cold of the winter. Oh and it doesn't hurt to have some good food along with it. Small menu, just try whatever and you'll be fine.
Phenomenal experience here.
Had a bit of a wait so popped out to a nearby pub. Worth the wait. Got the laap sausage, slow grilled chicken, raw mutton, grilled rump cap, ox heart, glass noodles, and brown rice. All were great and almost all were fairly spicy, ranging from 4-7. The mutton and ox heart were the spiciest but went well with rice. The chicken was the best, had to go in for seconds. Glass noodles were great too. Everything we had was great, would definitely come back to try more. Vibes were fantastic. Fitting for the name, if you sit on the first floor it's all bar seating and you can see the prep line with big flames and clay pots. All in a dark setting with UK grime blasting in the back. Downstairs vibe is more chill, much more lighting with proper tables. Would recommend first floor bar seating if your party is small enough.
Great: citrus salad, pork sausage, Jin toob, roasted
Great: citrus salad, pork sausage, Jin toob, roasted chicken, clay pot glass noodle, stirred fried veggies Meh: lamb chop Don't try unless you really want to: turmeric & ginger lemonade, curry pollock
We had 5 plates of various food.
Except for the chicken marinated in soy sauce and spices it was some of the worst tasting food I have ever had at a restaurant. Some of the dishes were not edible. It seems Very strange that Kiln has such high reviews.
Was jazzed to check this place out after seeing the great
Was jazzed to check this place out after seeing the great reviews. Overall, the food was good and the service was attentive. It was jammed packed on a Thursday evening. Would highly recommend getting a reservation if you want to check it out. The dishes are super flavourful. A bit pricey but given the area, should be expected. I'd be willing to come back again!
Great low key place! Not the Thai I'm used to having, but I
Great low key place! Not the Thai I'm used to having, but I still really liked it. The 'chicken and soy' dish was my personal favorite. We got to sit at the bar right where they cooked our food! W experience. Definitely suggest trying to sit at the bar next to the kitchen. It was cool to watch the cooks in action. They only serve for a limited time so be sure to get there quick! We were the last group of eaters and we ate around 3-3:30. Overall (as the kids say) 'hip' place.
To be fair, compare to the take out Thai place that open
To be fair, compare to the take out Thai place that open til 2am in the morning, this is way better. But if you're looking for amazing Thai food and pay a decent amount, this is not it. We ordered literally the entire menu. Not only did nothing really wow us, the price was not exactly nice either. Most of the food is either not big enough to share or it tasted very bland. The more flavorful dishes are waaaaaay too spicy and we are the kind of people who have experience Asian spicy in asia. I mean don't get me wrong - it's not the worst Thai food but I guess I have too much expectation for it to be flavorful. We booked 3 months in advance to get a table on a Friday night so it's not exactly somewhere you can just pop by. On top of that, there's no dessert at all.

I've earned $150 in a transaction and am not able to send this to my account. It's been rejected 3 times because I'm asking for too much?
The customer support function has provided zero responses and there are so many fees on the deposit process. What the heck? Has anyone been able to withdraw $ from earned bids?

You can only deposit $50 at a time until you earn the “Sales and Low Refund Medal” I believe. Im new to this as well but the ability to deposit more money at once and increase your amount of listings comes with that medal.

Someone else posted that they were only able to transfer $50 at a time so maybe that’s why it says you’re asking for too much. I haven’t sold anything yet so I have no personal experience but I would try $50.
