Eleven Madison Park New York Reviews from The Last Year
WOW !!!
Probably the most amazing dining experience we've ever had the privilege to enjoy. Outstanding food. Outstanding service. We stayed after dinner and continued to enjoy the wine list...
I used to frequent EMP in the early 2000s when it was more
I used to frequent EMP in the early 2000s when it was more "accessible" and the menu (a la carte) seemed reasonably priced for special occasions. For some time now the menu is prix-fixe and vegan. I have no dietary preferences or restrictions; and I appreciate and respect all cuisines. My vegan friend suggested to celebrate our birthdays together here. As a foodie who likes to try new foods and enjoys cooking at home, I was wary on justifying the cost of dining here. But it was a special occasion with a very good friend so I went along. I was thoroughly impressed start to finish with each dish. The textures, combinations, and flavors of ingredients were exceptional. Very creative and well-executed. It was a very positive and eye-opening experience. To learn about the creations using plant-based ingredients was mind-blowing to me. We were satisfied and grateful to celebrate here.
Best. Food. Experience. Ever!
This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Namely the staff made it great. Special shoutout to Isabelle, Nick, Jayne and Brandon. I first heard about Eleven Madison Park on the Netflix documentary “You are what you eat.” I generally like vegan foods and wanted to taste the inventive ways EMP has created an entirely plant-based menu. I went to two, 3-star Michelin restaurants while in NYC and EMP was by far my favorite compared to the other, traditional omnivore one. The serving staff at EMP took the time to get to know us and tailor our food not just by allergies and sensitivities but also by eliminating any strong dislikes. The other fancy restaurant staff acted snobby and even tried to find ways around food sensitivities. Yes, 3-star restaurants are expensive and they take time but for me Eleven Madison Park was worth every penny and minute spent for this one-of-a-kind experience. I will likely return to Eleven Madison Park with my friends again soon. I do not have any interest in returning to any other 3-star Michelin restaurants because the cost of the omnivore ones are NOT worth it, and I found their food to be common, boring, and unimaginative and the staff were snobby. EMP also gave us their homemade granola in a nice jar to take home. All these little details made the whole experience so special.
i thought it was just okay but people love it for some
i thought it was just okay but people love it for some reason so i came here and got one of the fixed meals the ambiance was great and they had pillows in the booth i was sitting in which was really nice. it was dark-ish in the restaurant but the food was still visible some of the dishes were just let downs. they honestly slipped my memory but the cold soup they give you as one of the first dishes was kind of weird and dare i say unpleasant? my favorite thing was the cut peas. how in the world, i thought, would they be able to slice such tiny peas in halves? my other favorite thing was the chocolate covered pretzel dessert. not just how they tasted (a good mix of bitter, savory, and sweet as well as soft and crunchy). my other other favorite thing was the breakfast they give you to go. the BEST granola i've ever had in my life (balanced mix of dried fruit and oats and nuts and rice and the exture of each very edible and gentle on the teeth while still being exciting) and a brilliant souvenir :)

What a gastronomical experience! I've dined here four times--spring, summer, fall, and winter--and each visit has been unforgettable. The service was impeccable, and the flavors in each dish stood out remarkably. I was also fortunate enough to walk through the kitchen, an experience I will never forget.
Didn't go...Thank the Lord!
If you are a millionaire vegetarian, this restaurant is for you! A dinner for two that costs more than eight hundred dollars is beyond outrageous--no matter how beautiful the restaurant is or how tasty plant based food is! I feel sorry for visitors who are suckered into this place by glowing reviews from authorities who don't pay for their own meals! I read that their switch to an all-vegan restaurant was a big flop, and they went back to serving European and American fare...but apparently not!
Amazing experience.
It is hard to evaluate a three Michelin star restaurant unless you constantly dine at multiple star restaurants, which is not me. So, this review will be from the perspective of a person who just wanted to see if the hype was lived up to: it was. I really could not find any flaws. The food was fantastic, the staff was polite and professional, and the ambiance was intimate and inviting. We felt welcomed right away and the front of house was sure to consistently check in. The second my glass of wine was empty, it was filled (and if I was still on the paired course, it was filled with the same wine). We were also provided a second serving of our favorite dish simply because we said we liked it. Also, from a non-vegitarian perspective, I can tell you that I did not miss the meat, so anyone in the same boat should not be concerned. We took a cool photo of the table in front of us: strong After The Party FS II vibes.
No dress code
Back after 5 years of absence. We truly enjoyed the all vegan dishes. Wonderful tastes, combinations, presentation. Great service. Points of criticism : lots of staff movements around our table, when making reservations it’s worth it to ask for table without nearby traffic from and to the kitchen. Wine list much to elaborate, make up your mind before the meal which wine from where you want to enjoy. Be prepared to pay five times for your wine than you would pay your metchant for the very same bottle. Check whether service charge is included in your prepayment when making your reservation. Come as you please, no dress code and some may not like fine dining in an environment where men wear shorts. Very expensive, as before.
So unreal bad
worst michelin I've eaten at out of over 20 and they certainly didn't deserve 3 stars Overall just tasteless food, I even sent the pea dish back because it was so tasteless
Wonderful vegan meal
We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner at EMP. My husband is vegan, so he was looking forward to the interesting combinations of flavors/vegetables; I am vegetarian, with a mushroom allergy and aversion to curry/coriander, so I greatly appreciated their accommodations for my dietary requests, providing several dishes with some variation so that I could enjoy my food as well. The staff was very pleasant and attentive, and the plating of each course was pretty. We were a bit disappointed that we were not invited to see the kitchen. (I am not sure how one goes about doing that.) We found the lighting to be fine for us because we went early; there are large windows which provide plenty of light. As others have noted, there is a wide variety of dress-- when we went about half of the diners (including us) were dressed up: many mid-level (khakis/slacks with polos or short sleeve button shirts), others with a t-shirt & shorts. (There was someone near us wearing just a white undershirt, which seemed quite under-dressed for such an upscale restaurant!) Our favorite courses were the tostado, fried artichoke, and the strawberry & rhubarb cream dessert. The croissants were amazing as well.
Warm and Welcoming + Delicious!
When 11 Madison Park went plant-based, it became a dream for us to eat there "someday". It was one of those bucket list items that you know you'll probably never get to do when you live across the country in California. But when I recovered from a life-threatening illness we decided that we wanted to start making our dreams come true. We flew to New York specifically to have this experience so our expectations were probably unreasonably high. However, our experience -- because that's what it is really -- an experience exceeded even the sky-high expectations! The food (exceptional), the staff (impeccable), the ambiance (gorgeous) -- absolutely everything was so filled with joy so you can't help but leave feeling high on life!
¿3-Star Michelin?
We had much higher expectations for a 3-star Michelin restaurant. We tried several Michelin restaurants around the world, and EM was okay, not superb. Service is good, but there are no deeper details on course preparations. The wine pairing selections are good but in a strange order, starting with champagne, whites, and reds and then returning to whites. For dessert, strawberries from Japan are good, but they are not a delicious final sweet touch.

We decided to visit the place after watching the documentary on Netflix "You are what you eat" - the selection of dishes is amazing, all of them are well paired with a variety of local and international wines. Overall great service and unique experience

O.m.g. This place is AMAZING!! I'm not vegan but HOLY this vegan food ...I LOVED! The service is top tier. We sat in the lounge/bar area and the ambiance was amazing. Would love to go again!
There are culinary experiences that you hear and read about
There are culinary experiences that you hear and read about and they make you so curious that you will put anything in motion just to experience it first hand. That is exactly how I felt about EMP and why I booked two tickets to take my mom to NYC to see for ourselves. I opted for the 12 course lunch reservation. Serendipitously, Daniel Humm just released his new book and they had a small Christmas market just outside. I was able to snag a book and proceeded to say hello to the Chef who was graciously signing copies. We had a lovely conversation and meeting my favorite chef is now on video. Walking into the restaurant you feel immediately like your known and old friends, as you are taken to your table. We had one of the best tables in my opinion as we were able to see the entire restaurant and be mesmerized by the flow and service of the staff. My mom even joked that she wanted to be sure she followed the format and walk the right direction as not to interrupt. What stood out to me were obviously the flavors and the composition of each dish. To be able to think them up and the meticulous detail - awe inspiring. Service was impeccable and when we were invited to a kitchen tour, it was the icing on the cake to see my moms expression as the whole lunch, touched her and reminded her of my grandfather who was a professional waiter in Budapest. He would have loved the art deco design of the restaurant along with the service and despite not being pescatarian like his granddaughter, he would have enjoyed the flavors. Thank you to the entire staff and especially Chef Daniel for a truly unforgettable experience!! I can't wait to go back.
Food good and creative.
Noise was unacceptable due to the restaurant's choice of disco instrumental music. This is not relaxing. Dinner should be relaxing. Choose "Chill jazz" instrumentals, or something similar, but not that obnoxious noisy loud invasive tension-inducing cacophany.
As good as we thought
Wonderful setting with exceptional staff who ensure your every request is catered for. Food is some of the best we have ever eaten. Would recommend to anyone looking for a high end experience with beautiful landscape
Ambiance - 4 stars Food- 4.
5 stars Service- 5 Stars Everything was superb and thought out and like most Michelin restaurants at this caliber, I did't have a lot of complaints. However, this review might be moot as I was there back when they were still serving meat and everything that was buttery goodness!
11 courses of gastronomical plant perfection! My mouth
11 courses of gastronomical plant perfection! My mouth experienced flavors here that I have never tasted before and won't soon forget. Bravo for dropping meat without dropping those stars!
When you go to Eleven Madison Park, you go with the highest
When you go to Eleven Madison Park, you go with the highest expectations. And despite everyone's high expectations to experience the best meal of their life, they still maintain nearly a perfect score on Yelp. That really says all you need to know. I think their adoption of vegan menu was brilliant. I'm not vegan, but I enjoyed the meal immensely and I'm so impressed that instead of just doing what people expect they are adventuring boldly into new frontiers of culinary experimentation. They are leading from the top, showing the world that vegan food can be excellent. While I'm not personally vegan I know the planet needs us all to embrace more plants in our diet. Another perfectly cooked steak from a top tier restaurant is fine, but go to Eleven Madison Park if you want to experience food at a level of excellence and innovation you won't find anywhere else. I rarely find restaurants live up to the hype so high expectations can be a curse, Eleven Madison Park exceeds them.

What an maxing experience here! From the staff, to the attention to detail, to the descriptions of the food. I truly enjoyed my time here. My reservation was at 9:15 so I do have to admit, staff did get a little lax once we got closer to closing time but overall I truly enjoyed my time here. The chef's here are doing an awesome job of making plant based dining a delicious journey.
one of the best meals of my entire life.
just book it...lunch, dinner, at the bar, whatever you can get. absolutely amazing. the service was also out of the world and they bent over backwards to accommodate my sister, who suffers from Celiac. I hope one day to return. perfection!

This weekend was the first time I've been there since they went vegan. Overall the food was very good, the staff was friendly, but there were some inconsistencies. Some servers who would explain the dishes were not as thorough as other servers serving the same dish to nearby tables. The service started off very good but we felt like as we came to the end, the service fell off significantly to where we felt like we were forgotten about - the table next to us started after us but ended up finishing before us.
Impressive Eleven tMadison Park Hits It Out Of The Park On All Scores
Eleven Madison Park’s (EMP) Executive Chef, Daniel Humm, is all of the following — Pioneer, Visionary, Maestro — but as impressive as being able to easily claim these titles, is his ability to follow up in all he does with meticulous precision, at the same time remaining amiable in his interactions. The Swiss-born chef, who came to the U.S. to take a top culinary position in a highly-regarded San Francisco restaurant, then moved to NYC to EMP, later buying it with a partner. Humm’s latest achievement has been revisioning EMP as only serving plant-based dishes, while also awaking with this move all to the fact the food industry must change. This he shows can be done with no loss of deliciousness. Open 7 nights & lunch on Saturdays from 12 to 2pm. Michelin gives EMP three stars, saying his bold plant- based menu takes the concept to unparalleled new heights. As a vegetarian, as a young woman with a young son some decades back, my commitment to making sure I fed nutritious but also delicious food to him was no easy task to fulfill when eating out. Even now one can find it hard to find eateries where the plant- based menu sings. It does at EMP. One can also eat @ the bar -but only six coveted stools available! His whole team is perfect & makes EMP perfect, especially to eat at with Earth Hour & Earth Day coming up. Just the place to go. Humm has been in the kitchen since 14 years old: May he stay on forever. Posted by S Fuller
I made a reservation for Saturday lunch, and it was a 6
I made a reservation for Saturday lunch, and it was a 6 course meal for the bar tasting menu. We were stuffed by the end - they offer their bread (onion this time around with onion butter topped with garlic confit) repeatedly, I think partly to make sure you are full. We got two orders of those. ONION: the food was so cozy, and a nice start to the meal with food that tasted familiar in some way. Tea with Roasted Leeks and Brown Rice Marinated Leek Salad Rice with Onion and Thai Basil SWEET POTATO: this was my favorite. A well contrived balance of sweet/savory as well as crunchy/soft textures. I could've eaten 6 of these. Fried with Plantain and Sea Fennel GAI LAN: there was some pasta wrapped around the vegetable, which added to the flavor. Not my favorite but still liked it. Steamed with Black Truffle and Myoga MAITAKE: My 2nd favorite. I haven't had too much seitan before but again the textures and flavors of this were nice, although more familiar with the dark soy sauce/sweeter taste. With Pine, Seitan and Juniper MANGO: the white one was my favorite, which was wrapped in white chocolate. The saffron was a bit too tart? With Kulfi and Pistachio SESAME: nice end to the meal with housemade vermouth. They even had a nonalcoholic version for my wife that was sweeter and grape-forward. Pretzel with Chocolate Cocktails: I ordered the Sansho, which was strong and refreshing, but not as nuanced with other flavors as I expected. Tried a sip of the Squash which had more flavors to it I think and a sip of the Cashew which was very creamy. My wife ordered a coffee and they kept refilling the cup, without any rush to get us off the table. Really quality service all throughout. They also gave us Granola to take home, a bit on the sweeter side for my taste but I really like the texture. Forgot to ask for a menu to print out but I asked through email so I knew what I got. All in all, a little under $300 a person with tax and tip. The most expensive meal I've had but worth the experience.
We came here after seeing it on Netflix's the "Twin Study".
It's apparently one of the top restaurants in the world, I think maybe #3. It used to have an omnivorous menu however, the chef Daniel Humm decided to go all vegetarian. It's easily one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. If you're willing to shell out the money, go. We have eaten at some pretty nice restaurants here and there throughout the city and my husband said this was the best he ever had. This is high praise coming from him because everything else is just "alright". You can probably see each course in the pictures attached but it starts with a tea/consumme thingy and then moves into the solid foods and finally ends with a sorbet dessert thing. The best dish? The bread lol. Their rolls are completely vegan and their butter is made out of sunflowers and coconuts and the 2 together are a match made in vegan heaven. I think we had about 2 or 3 orders of the bread (they offer it to you so if you want more you can have more). It was that good. It's warm and flaky, almost like a croissant. The rest of the dishes were very good, flavorful and each had their own unique texture and flavor profile. For some reason, I found the sorbet at the end a bit strange, or maybe I was just really full. The interior is beautiful, service was great and ambiance was wonderful. Very quiet and the wait staff are very orderly. A wonderful restaurant that you should try at least once in your life.
This restaurant is an absolute disgrace.
I have no words. They had plenty of reservations available and would not let us reschedule so they could keep our $700 payment. The staff is rude and unintelligent. NEVER MAKE A RESERVATION HERE. Run far away!
friday, march 1st special black truffle dinner event
friday, march 1st special black truffle dinner event approx $1,000/guest was a major disappointment. having experienced the dinning room at least a dozen times and a private dinner upstairs, the event friday evening was a major letdown. it was akin to a quiet reception at a budget hotel minus carpet stains and scuffs on the wall. the atmosphere and service screamed impersonal. the up charge for the better wines was not worth the two sips of each pairing served. the cocktail reception area had exactly four tables...not at all welcoming for the attendees lining the walls . personally, we enjoy both white and black truffles...even go hunting for white truffles in italy. sadly, the black truffles served friday did not "dance" on selections served. all truffles "dance." it was a very expensive sterile event that made me wonder if dinner was being served by unenthusiastic off duty flight attendants.the personal connection between the guest and serving staff in the main dining room was missing. sorry, but i have loved every dining experience at eleven madison park until march 1st. what happened????? still a patron
Love this place - everything about it!
It's such a great place - we were just there two months ago and liked it so much we went back again. The food is creative, presented incredibly well and delicious. And the wine pairings are amongst the best - they're so good and so well executed. And service is amazing. Can't wait to go back in the spring with all the fresh greens!
TLDR: Disappointing for a 3 Michelin Star Restaurant I
TLDR: Disappointing for a 3 Michelin Star Restaurant I want to start off by highlighting that the presentation, ambiance, and service were all impeccable. The tasting menu of 11 courses came out to $400+ per person. For this price tag I was expecting a way better flavor profile from each dish. Sadly, most of the dishes fell flat. The presentation and style were all there but at the end of the day, no savory dish made me feel like I have to return for this bite. The desserts however were standouts for me. I particularly enjoyed the Chocolate pretzels.
To die for! Whether vegan or vegetarian or any meat eater
To die for! Whether vegan or vegetarian or any meat eater would appreciate this amazing restaurant! LOVE it! Will be back when in NYC..
Amazing food and service
The Food was really delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful. I would Definietly Come back again to try a New course.
Delicious vegan food in an opulent setting.
We booked the shorter tasting menu with wine pairings and seating in the bar area. The space is modern and airy - quite unlike your typically crowded Manhattan restaurant. The cocktails were excellent. The food was exceptionally good and the wines were well suited. The service was impeccable. Exactly what we expected and a very enjoyable evening.
Simply one of the best experiences of my life
Simply mindblowing. The attention to detail, the personalised treatment, the flavours and presentation of each dish, the expertise of the staff and the beautifully decorated restaurant were enough of an experience as it was. The cherry on the cake was the fact that the staff were wonderful enough to give us a tour of the kitchen due to it being our wedding day and make us a drink while we were in there. They even drew us a lovely little post card of us getting married and gave us a bowl of granola to take home! I'll never forget our visit to Eleven Madison Park, it really was one of those moments in life where you feel on top of the world and lucky to be alive.
12 courses in heaven
This restaurant is top-notch! The service was not just attentive but also personable, making it a really enjoyable experience. The food was not only delicious (12 courses) but also beautifully presented. What sets it apart is the interactive element – special table presentations, personalizing flavors, and even assisting in the cooking process. Sure, I miss the foie gras and caviar, but it's still among the best culinary experiences in the country. Definitely worth a special journey.
A bit of food poisoning will ruin an otherwise great night out!
We had a great evening at Eleven Madison Park. The service was excellent. The staff were friendly, informative, and attentive. The food was really interesting--beautifully plated and very delicious. Great flavor combinations that were fresh and interesting. Unfortunately, about 6 hours after we left, my wife had the chills, was nauseous, threw up, and had diarrhea. After 8-10 hours of that, she was feeling better. Not sure what she had, but something at dinner was not right.
Fantastic and creative food with amazing wine pairings.
We did the full tasting and the wine pairing - what a great night! The food was fantastic - so many flavors and textures all reflecting the season so well. Each course was presented in an amazing way, and each was delicious with each one building upon the last. And the service and explanations of each course was excellent as well. The wine pairings were also among the best we've had. We've been to many Michelin starred restaurants (I know, that sounds snobby, sorry) and this was easily one of our favorites.
foody
delicious food nice and kind staff very hygenic most important serviice was very very good..must visit place to eat your favourite foods.
