Perfect atmosphere!
We were there to celebrate a 70th birthday and the staff made us feel like we were family. So welcoming and accommodating for our family of 12. Food was outstanding and no words for the amazing, thoughtful service we received. Thank you Calvert’s for making our celebration perfect!
Be the first to ReplySuperb in every way
Superb in every way- 1. atmosphere 2. service. 3. presentation of food 4. quality and flavor of food. Expensive, but worth it for a special dinning experience.
Be the first to ReplyVery Special Celebratory Dinner
Went to dinner here for an anniversary. The food was pricey but very good. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The decor and vibe of the restaurant was a bit dated but seemed clean. We received a free desert for our anniversary celebration and was the best part of our meal! Getting the chocolate roulade is a must!

For the $144 I paid I at least expect a mediocre meal but Calverts fell way short. I was served the worst Ossining Buco I have ever had. If it was truly veal, which I doubt, it was the toughest and most fatty veal I ever had while it was lacking in flavor. My wife’s seared tuna stake was over cooked, dry and also lacked any semblance of flavor. Our four other friends also were unhappy with the quality of their dishes as well. The place seems alway pact but for the life of me, I have no idea why. I certainly will never return. On a positive note, the service was very good. If you like good service and very bad food, by all means go to Calverts otherwise head elsewhere.

We almost didn't go, having read some recent reviews. But we've loved Calvert's for 40+ years, so decided to try it again. I had the Filet with mushrooms and hubby had the chicken roulade-both were wonderful! We shared a nice bottle of Pinot Noir, and finished with sharing the chocolate roulade for dessert! Everything was fantastic; can't wait to go back! The staff was great too, very attentive!

We were there with a large group of friends. We had a separate room. The Calvert’s servers were great, always attentive to our needs. I had a large delicious tenderloin and my wife had a stuffed chicken breast. The steak was perfectly cooked. It was tender and savory. My wife reported she had never had a stuffed chicken breast this phenomenal. All of our friends had nothing but great things to say of the Calvert’s meal and servers.
Be the first to Replyfor the money...go elsewhere.
Service: super friendly staff members that try to be available and helpful..but totally overworked. Entrees start at $29.99 - there are two entrees at that price, the rest are $39.99 and above. They not come with salads, so it's pretty pricey....and I would forgive that if the food was worth it. It just wasn't. Salmon on top of shrimp on top of weird seasoned pasta. The veal was good, but NOT for that price. We all said we would have preferred to go to Ruby Tuesdays...at least we could have enjoyed a decent salad bar. The only reason why I am not giving this one star is because of the server. He tried, he really tried...but he just had way too many tables to cover.
Be the first to ReplyLow Quality, Expensive, Uninspired Sad Food
I have lived in Augusta for over 10 years and never tried Calverts but was always curious. I checked out the menu and was excited to finally give this place a try. This was one of the most overpriced, uninspired, low-quality “restaurants” I’ve ever experienced outside of a public school cafeteria. I ordered the salmon with shrimp scampi which was retuned as the salmon was low-quality and excessively over cooked, lacked flavor, was dry and just not pleasant. The replacement was wasabi tuna which was described as fresh. This tuna was obviously frozen, mealy, full of connective tissue, and ultimately inedible. The tuna tartare appetizer was grossly and excessive marinated in a soy/sesame concoction that cooked the previously frozen fish leaving it very bitter and and ugly brown color. I don’t understand how this establishment has remained open - utterly disappointing and grossly overpriced. I have satisfied my curiosity to check this place out and will never be back again.

Visiting Augusta, we were looking for a nice restaurant in the area. Reservations were made the day before and had no problem. Serves was good and the food also.
Be the first to ReplyStill One of August's Best Fine Dining Establishments
Over the years I've dined at Calvert's many times but not recently. It was my wife's birthday and we wanted to celebrate somewhere special. We had an early Friday reservation so things were slow but picked up quickly as the main dinner hour approached. Terrance, our primary server, and the other staff did a fine job addressing our needs. For appetizers we had raw oysters and oysters Rockefeller, both of which were excellent. I had the iceberg wedge salad which was also very good. For entrees, my wife chose the Lobster Savannah (seafood stuffed lobster) and I had the veal Osso Buco. Both dishes were beautiful presentations, plentiful and very tasty. For dessert our waiter surprised her with the chocolate roulade. It may get a little bit noisy near the bar but overall you can expect to have a very leisurely, quiet, romantic dinner. We're still talking about how good the meal was. In my opinion, Calvert's remains one of the very best fine dining establishments in the Augusta area.

We had an incredible meal and the ambiance was wonderful. Maybe 2020 was tough on the owners, but 2021 was exceptional. It was our first visit.
Be the first to ReplyWorst meal of 2020
We went years ago and it was so good. Decided to go New Years Eve 2020 and it was terrible. We should have turned around and walked out the moment we stepped inside. The host was rude, we were seated near the kitchen, and our server was awful. Someone in the kitchen scorched a bag of popcorn and filled the dining area we were in with the stench of smoke and burnt popcorn. We thought the kitchen was perhaps on fire. We were ready to evacuate. Next, after we all ordered steak and lobster and were served, one dish was missing the crab meat (Bagger style) and had to be sent back. Another plate had the correct items, but the filet mignon was ROTTEN. The smell was so nauseous it turned our stomachs. It was sent back too and the server confirmed it was bad and admitted the cook said it was bad as well. Did they take it off our bill, you might ask, the answer is no. They brought another questionable plate out to us. More cold food. The rest of us tried to eat what we could and not complain, but none of it was good. Everything was cold. Bread was stale. We all hesitated to eat the steak. What we did enjoy was the sweet tea, and cheesecake. That was it. Nothing else was worth the price tag... total was $300.00 and some odd cents. We will not go back and we do not recommend Calvert's to anyone. Save your time and money. Go to French market Grille.
Be the first to ReplyMy sister lives in Augusta
My sister lives in Augusta and said we had to go here. The place is very nice and homey but a little noisy. My husband got short rib and loved it. I got the escargot to start and was really disappointed that it sat on a mushroom with a wine sauce but not much garlic like I am used to. My main course was sea bass and lobster on a pasta. The seafood was good but the pasta was bitter and distasteful. For dessert we had the cake that Arnold Palmer loved. It was chocolate cake rolled with cream. It was dry and too sweet for us. The prices are high so doubt if we will go back.
