Brutto London Reviews from The Last Year
Amazing food, great service.
We walked in on a Friday night and were able to get seated at the bar no problem. I got the mushroom pizza, my friend got the cacio e pepe pasta with a side of broccolini. Waiters were attentive and the food was amazing! We also ordered 2 glasses of wine and they comped both - when we got the receipt it said "love" as to why it was comped, super sweet!

Sarah MC was great she made me and my sisters feel so welcomed and surprised my sister with desert for her birthday! Food was delicious, service even better so happy with that everything! Highly recommend checking this place out if you get the chance!

Came here for my birthday dinner and was wildly disappointed with the food, service, ambience and low quality experience for the price. I had to work with the events manager weeks in advance to plan my bday dinner for 10 people and none of the effort was worth it. We spent $150 per person and no one even got full. The portions were tiny and not super flavorful, the service was slow, and we were sat in a back corner with dim lighting. Such a disappointing experience. Maybe it's better as just a date night spot, but I would def not return or recommend.

There is no waitlist.
You can not sit yourself at the bar. You can not order a drink while you wait. Waited 20 min while 8 seats sat empty at the bar. $30 for pasta.

Wonderful food and great service! Sara was so fun and gave great recommendations...plus half price wine on Wednesday!
Went on a first date here and Sarah M.
took great care of us and enhanced the ambience for us. Great experience from start to finish and great energy. Food was incredible
Maybe unlucky
Service is fine. But I'd avoid the Castelfranco with parmesan £10.50 which is just 2 large lettuce leafs. Also avoid the Gnocchi with Girolles which tastes ok but looks so sad and not worth £16.80. And 2 small glasses of uninteresting house red. We had to leave after that to avoid further disappointment. £43 of disappointment. I do hope we just chose the wrong starters and that everything else if as wonderful as they say.
Good as always but a complaint about the cooking
Would have preferred to write this as a direct email but it's not easy so in public it is. Great and fun lunch today as always, but three of our dishes (meat tagliatelle, sausages and shredded beef) were oversalted to a fault, while the fennel side tasted almost unseasoned.
Fantastic, authentic Italian
I came to Brutto for a birthday meal with my partner. Lovely ambiance, friendly service (they were clearly busy but nothing felt rushed) & great drinks menu. The food was nothing short of fantastic - authentic Italian dishes. We’ll be coming again - this really is a special restaurant.
Average food
I can’t understand the hype. Perhaps there was some vibe at lunch hour - happily busy, but the food was surprisingly average and very overpriced. Still cannot work out how they justify charging £16.20 for a small bowl of Tagliatelle al Ragu with a tiny bit of reddish sauce speckled with a few hard brown meaty pellets. Service was nice. I will not be rushing back though.
Losing your virginity can be disappointing
Been looking forward to coming here for ages. Evening started well, we were early and the front of house handled it perfectly…and then it kind of fell apart. We had the boy from the magic roundabout serving us. He took out drinks order and then came back to ask if we wanted some drinks a few mins later..wine came and it was warm. After the third time of me saying it was warm and him pretty much saying it will go cold, I said, I don’t want it to go cold later, I want to drink it now. Are there no cold bottles…he looked at me like I was stupid and said it will go cold again. About 20 mins later it’s was nearly cool enough. Shame the £40 vermentino was awful. Yes we are in London blah blah. Food came. Veg crudité which was basically a lump of fennel with a couple of radish and a foetus sized carrot. The lardo toasts were good. After asking for more water for the third time, magic roundabout looked at the table and said…oh I’ve taken your jug haven’t i?! Yes when I asked the first time! Mains came…pasta with a bone broth. Clap cold and pasta so underdone it was hard. Other dish was rare roast beef, cooked nicely enough and tasty smeared in a thick gravy. “Would you like dessert?” Errr no. I’m sure if they read this they will think we don’t know what we are talking about. Maybe we don’t. After spending our lives in the food and restaurant game, we know a little possibly. But the place is full and buzzy. So what do they care. The modern way is sadly becoming style over substance…but you can very quickly fall out of favour. Would we return? Nah.
Wonderful lunch
This was my 4th visit and I wanted to share this experience with Jo, my friend of 45 years. We had table 34, which is my favourite as it is bang in the middle of the restaurant. We each had a £5 Negroni, which was delicious and shared a plate of "cuddles" - deep fried dough balls with soft cheese and prosciutto. My friend had pasta with rabbit and I had tortellini in broth. Both were exceptional. We ordered a carafe of house red and white. Sarah looked after us really well and remembered me from before, which was nice to know. It felt sad knowing that the founder of this marvellous restaurant Russell Norman is no longer with us but we raised a glass to him with affection.
Bathroom stink worst than public toilets
The service has little experience. If you offer an Italian menu, the waiter must be able to take orders in Italian; otherwise, don't bother writing the menu in Italian if you expect the customer to translate it. The men restroom stinks so horrible that almost made me loose appetite. Possible that none of the managers can handle it? Does that show cleanliness in other places, such as the kitchen (which has a door next to the bathroom)? The food is adequate. The starter and the main course failed to impress. On our way out, hardly one said goodbye or even thanked us.
Service with a snarl
Sadly my twice yearly catch up at Brutto with a good friend and former colleague will be relocated after our most recent visit. Whilst the food was as expected, the same cannot be said for the service. Incredibly rude waitress who quite clearly wanted to be anywhere but serving us. We were made to feel like a huge inconvenience from start to finish. Constantly being told we had limited time, however having to wait 15 minutes before someone came over with a wine list, then having no plates when the shared food arrived. At the end of the meal we made it clear we didn’t want dessert and asked for a cocktail, then after a wait the waitress returned to see want we wanted for dessert… which we had already declined. After waiting for our cocktails, 10 minutes before our allotted time was up being aggressively told the table was needed back IMMEDIATELY. Never felt less welcome in a restaurant. Having always had nothing but praise for the place and recommending highly to all I shall now avoid and suggest others do the same. Classic case of a successful restaurant getting complacent and showing little care or courtesy to customers.
An evening in Italy
Booked my Birthday meal here Its always fully booked and you can only book 2 weeks in advance Its darkly lit with a lot of atmosphere The food tastes and feels authentic. Tried the anchovy with sough-dough, penne with tomato , beef strips and fig panna cotta with a carafe of house wine A lovely alternative evening
Wonderful birthday lunch
I had eaten here a couple of times before but my friend had never been. I knew she loved pasta and Negronis, so this was the obvious choice. We shared a plate of "cuddles"- deep fried savoury doughnuts, which come either prosciutto and soft cheese, which you stuff into the warm cuddles. My friend had penne in a vodka tomato sauce, which she loved and I had trofie in a cavolo nero and hazelnut pesto. The house Negronis are a bargain at £5 each. We had a lovely, leisurely meal. The Brutto team were very welcoming and friendly. Great value and excellent food.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
