Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, great service.
We walked in on a Friday night and were able to get seated at the bar no problem. I got the mushroom pizza, my friend got the cacio e pepe pasta with a side of broccolini. Waiters were attentive and the food was amazing! We also ordered 2 glasses of wine and they comped both - when we got the receipt it said "love" as to why it was comped, super sweet!

Came here for my birthday dinner and was wildly disappointed with the food, service, ambience and low quality experience for the price. I had to work with the events manager weeks in advance to plan my bday dinner for 10 people and none of the effort was worth it. We spent $150 per person and no one even got full. The portions were tiny and not super flavorful, the service was slow, and we were sat in a back corner with dim lighting. Such a disappointing experience. Maybe it's better as just a date night spot, but I would def not return or recommend.

You can not sit yourself at the bar. You can not order a drink while you wait. Waited 20 min while 8 seats sat empty at the bar. $30 for pasta.

took great care of us and enhanced the ambience for us. Great experience from start to finish and great energy. Food was incredible

The drinks are amazing and the staff is very friendly but the food is horrible. I'm convinced they don't use any seasoning on their food. I ordered the beets salad- delicious, but margarita pizza, worst pizza ever! It was an overpriced piece of dough with tomato pasta. My friend ordered the pasta- it tasted like pasta and olive oil without any ounce of seasoning. If you want to go somewhere for cocktails and ambiance this is your place- The bartenders are the best but eat before you go because the food is trash. 2 stars because I had a great bartender

Booked outside seating because the weather was gorgeous, and the biggest issue with the outside seating is the birds: they're loud and they'll poop on you.Food was excellent: prosciutto, scallop, salad, pizza, pasta dishes were all very good. Swordfish was cooked perfectly though I could do without the sesame rub.

To summarize - for the price point: there's a lot better Italian in Austin.Service left much to be desired. Took a while for us to be greeted, and half our table got their meals ten minutes before the other half. So we all were eating at different times.Ambiance was okay- nice but not my favorite place to go downtown. The food was decent but just missed the mark overall. The noodles were fresh, but the portion sizes for the price were very disappointing. There just wasn't anything noteworthy about the food and I we left hungry. Honestly- I'd recommend Red Ash over this for only a few dollars more (you'll just have to wait for reservations). But when it comes to overall value, flavor, and portions I much prefer/ highly recommend Patrizi's!
Be the first to ReplyAmbience is great! live music, spacious patio, kind staff.
The food was okay. One time go. the beets salad was more cabbage and a friends squid pasta was chewy. My pasta was flavorful but for the high price quantity was less. the salads in general were flavor full and got a warm bread on the side. drink was a little watered down. they keep the Italian feel with lemoncillo at the end.

My meal was terrible but what bothered just as much was the fact that it was overpriced PLUS they add a 4% "employee benefits" charge to the total before tip is expected. Maybe this is old news but it is new to me and it's hard to see it as anything other than an additional tip/profit for the owner who is the one responsible for employee pay and benefits (other than tips). It's offensive especially since it's overpriced to begin with. I'll be avoiding restaurants doing this. Unfortunately for the employees most people will probably give lower tips as well to compensate for that.

I have absolutely no problem spending money when it comes to food. But when it comes to high-priced dishes, I expect to get what I pay for. Il Brutto is overpriced for the mediocre food they're serving, and I wouldn't consider it authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and our server was very nice and attentive, but the food fell short (with the exception of the fornarina bread). I had the lasagna which was barely lukewarm and completely lacked flavor. Weak, small square of "lasagna" for $28? I thought that was a bit much.I went to Il Brutto with high expectations but left pretty disappointed. This is the type of restaurant you eat at and then go to a food truck or fast-food joint afterwards as you're still hungry when you leave. I will continue my hunt for a good Italian restaurant in Austin.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing experience.
The food was super expensive and I say out of the three things we ordered one of them was kind of good. We ordered the truffle burrata Crostini and we received one piece served on a coaster for $25. There was tons of shaved truffle on this yet the entire thing was flavorless tasted like cold cream really unsure how the truffle added absolutely no flavor to this. We are also told that everything should be ordered family style to share and when we ordered a pasta, we thought that would be enough for the two of us. The size of the pasta dish was the size for one person take a look at the other photos you'll see that it's just like a fist full of pasta. How is that enough to share family style? We then ordered the pork chop and the outside of it was very tasty in season very well. The inside of it was completely raw. I understand that pork chop is usually served a little bit pink on the inside, I cook them myself, I've eaten them out at restaurants before but this was completely raw. The food is way too expensive and not good enough for the price. I don't understand how in town full of good food this place is somehow packed. My only Very disappointing experience. We reserved a special table for my 40th birthday and we're sat in a cold white corner almost as an afterthought. Spoke with the host and she refused to seat us based on our request from over 3 weeks ago even though there were plenty of tables that stayed empty the entire time we were there The squid ink pasta was overly fishy. Their heirloom tomatoes are on a burrata purรฉe and Was so overly salty it was hard to eat. Would not return. Our waiter was good that's why 2 stars and not 1

I was visiting Austin the other night and I probably had the best lasagna I've ever had in my life (that I can recall). Spinach noodles, bechamel, you name it. We opted for the Cacio e Pepe as our first course. Noodles cooked to Al dente ( our server mentioned hand prepared pasta & pizza). A simple dish prepared to perfection. Next up was the bolognese with a lamb Ragu. Some of the lamb was overtly prepared/cooked/prepared which detracted from the overall experience....

Came in for dinner a few weeks ago and had a lovely dinner for two. To start we had a round of Aperol Spritz with the Scallop Crudo and Heirloom Tomatoes. The crudo was OK (lacked flavor), but the tomatoes were super fresh and the burrata that came with it was delicious. For the mains we got the Cacio e Pepe and Pappardelle with lamb ragu. The pappardelle was our favorite, but the cacio was just as good. We saved room for dessert and got the tiramisu which was incredible - definitely leave room for this! They had a great wine list by the glass, and topped off your meal with a shot of delicious limoncello with your bill. Excellent service to top it all off, will definitely be back to taste more!!

I was visiting Austin to celebrate a friend's birthday! One of the girls in our group is local and she suggested dinner at Il Brutto before going out for the night. I'm an Italian girl and this place did not disappoint! We ordered a bunch of items from appetizers to pizza to pasta and shared it all so that we could try a little bit of everything. We started with the Trio Tasting which comes with their signature bread and 3 sauces for dipping: basil pesto, 4 cheese fonduta, and 'nduja mousse. I honestly can't decide which one I loved the most because they were all phenomenal! We also had the Heirloom tomatoes with creamy burrata which was so fresh and delicious. For pizzas, we ordered the margherita and the spicy sausage. I really loved the sausage one the most, and I probably could have skipped the margherita. The pasta dishes were the star of the show for me though. I'm a sucker for homemade pasta and they just do it so well here. We got the cacio e pepe, ciriole (squid ink pasta available on Fridays & Saturdays only), and the pappardelle lamb ragรบ. All three dishes were amazing! I'm obsessed with squid ink pasta and I was so happy to see it on the menu. The lamb ragรบ had the most tender meat and we were actually surprised that this ended up being our group's favorite dish of the night. At the end of the meal, they bring everyone limoncello shots with the check which is such a fun surprise -- especially when celebrating. But beware, those shots are STRONG!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Italian restaurant.
Food and drinks were very good. The pastas are fresh made daily and so delicious.
Be the first to ReplyNeighborhood Italian restaurant serving homemade authentic
Neighborhood Italian restaurant serving homemade authentic Italian cuisine..: Food (4/5 Stars): Delicious menu featuring handmade pizza and pastas. We enjoyed the Cacio e Pepe and Burrata Pizza. All of the ingredients were super fresh (especially the burrata!) and the portion sizes were decent..: Drink (4/5 Stars): Very unique selection of cocktails, vermouth, wine, and beer. I enjoyed their classic Espresso Martini. They serve a separate "specialty" Espresso Martini that has more of an "earthy" taste that I did not particularly enjoy. Our table also ordered the Vermouth and Aperitivi Flights that were fun to sample..: Service (5/5): Our server was super friendly and accommodating. We had a reservation (which I would recommend making on the weekends) and were seated right away. Our check came with a few limoncello shots, which was definitely a nice touch!.: Atmosphere (5/5 Stars): Charming upbeat atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The patio has fans, is nicely shaded, and is decorated with cute bistro lights hanging from the large tree in the middle of the deck. Parking can get tricky - especially on weekends and during busy hours.
