Weekend getaway
Renaissance was proactive in reaching out to their guest even before they arrive to introduce their property via an email I had a very present stay with the Renaissance JHB and was extremely impressed with their customer service team . A very friendly customer service team – check in team , door man , lounge team , BLD café . Wan Li 😊 Compliments to EVAN ( not sure if I spelt his name correctly ) who was polite and friendly . Check us in swiftly and arranged for us to wait in the lounge as room was not ready . Special thanks also to the lady on duty at the lounge on 13APR evening ( about 9pm ) – did not get her name . She patiently catered to our request for room service to be served at the lounge at that hour ! Location of the property is very convenient with lots of food places near the hotel . There is even an Aeon within walking distance . Kudos to the Team at the Renaissance
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay but outdated lift doors without sensors are a hazard
While we received a room upgrade due to our Titanium Elite status, upon request we were further upgraded to a suite! No complaints about the room, the kids loved it and it had two WCs even. The air conditioning's thermostat however may be slightly wonky, as the room measured 21.5 after a night of being set at 26 degrees celsius. The staff were fabulously friendly, I loved swimming in the 1.4m deep pool and the food at the executive lounge and breakfast buffet were delicious. I was surprised to hear that the hotel was renovated about 10 years ago, as the facilities and hotel room were very well maintained. I was hoping to pass our thanks and compliments to the GM about how much we enjoyed our stay but had no luck each day when we asked the front desk staff if he/she was around. The nearest malls would be Midvalley Southkey, Aeon Tebrau and Toppen Shopping Center. We did pay aeon permas jaya a visit but it was relatively more run down and has a tiny tenant mix. If your stay overlaps with a sunday evening, next to the hotel is a supremely long night market (Pasar Malam) that would take you about 10-15mins to stroll through (20-30mins to the end and back to the hotel). I have uploaded a photo of it from the viewing area outside our room. Things to improve (some are real serious issues, the last is slight nitpicking): - Elevator/lift doors DO NOT have motion sensors, almost sandwiching my 2 year old who suddenly dashed in - hopefully this safety concern can be address at the next upgrading! - Bathtub was very slippery and should have just a mixer tap rather than a full length shower rail and shower head - I'd imagine surely somebody would have slipped and gotten badly injured trying to shower there (a bathtub should be for soaking, not bathing) - Houseflies were buzzing around the noodle station's ingredients and our table at breakfast - Executive lounge: 80% of the staple food were spicy (would have appreciated more kids-friendly non-spicy staple food); was surprised that no hot chocolate was available Upon arrival, I saw a large sign stating that valet parking was RM30 and was told by the staff that the charge was by per entry. However, after we had made full payment, the front desk staff approached us while we were having lunch that actually it was a RM30 charge per day. Perhaps better signs could be put up, and staff be updated about what the actual rates are. Interestingly (as pictured), the original valet coupon made no mention of the per-day charge, but the subsequent one they slapped onto our windshield did have that fine print on the back. A small issue but it did make our stay slightly less perfect and less compelled to make a return visit...
Good Hotel with Excellent Staff
The Renaissance Johor Bahru is an excellent hotel. The staff are attentive and ready to help at any and all times. I had a really good time there and have on all other occasions too. I have been, and will be, a regular visitor to this hotel. It gives me great pleasure to recommend this particular hotel to all who wish a superb stay looked after by the excellent staff.
Going The Extra Mile
Once again, excellent hospitality service provided by Front Desk Manager, Evan Wong. Really appreciate his pro-activeness, care and diligence in ensuring our comfortable stay in Renaissance. His speedy resolution to our requests even during his off-days shows his dedication towards meeting the customers' needs. Renaissance is definitely our Go-To hotel whenever we are in JB.
Like the hotel.
Room wise is decently spacious. Amenities are provided sufficient and good. Bed and pillow are one the best I slept in JB? 😂 location wise is a little far from ciq and jb city center area. Bout 15 min drive? However, it has massage parlor, hair salon and food around the hotel. After 12mn nothing much. Pool, lobby are well maintained. Will stay again.
Terrible Laundry Service!
This hotel has the most terrible laundry service! I have been staying for more than 5 nights now and I have to call everyday around 7pm to ask them for laundry return, for the laundry that I had send the night before. For all the laundry that I had send, I chose the 'within same day' option which is 20% more than regular service and yet the service provided is way below par. Complained to the Front Desk Manager on 2nd Apr 2024 and did not see any improvements at all. In fact today, the front desk told me that the laundry that I send last night will only be able to be send to me tomorrow (that is more than 24 hours!) and with the option of 'within the same day' Seriously, Renaissance JB, get your act together. This is really ridiculous and I do feel cheated. Other than their Laundry service, the other departments in this Hotel is providing good service
Red light district/ Terrible lounge
In the middle of the Red Light district, yup, within 1 block are three massage parlors, open till 4 am. And it gets worse. First the good ( thats why they get one star) 3 stars- The room is a typical king room, large with very comfy bedding. The shower/ toilet are good with good pressure and very hot water. Amenities are average, no more. 0 stars- television. Not a smart tv, only 3 English speaking channels, mostly game show junk. 1 star- breakfast. They get one star as they do have a western omelet station, but it takes several days for the cook to learn how to cook an omelet so its not runny. And you have to ask for a normal sized omelet. If not, you will get what has to be the smallest omelet in the world. For some reason, the cooks in this hotel cant just cook anything, they have to add an array of spices, cayenne peppers, etc to EVERYTHING! Even the baked tomatoes on the breakfast bar are over spiced. Only one meat, many times lunch meat slices in liquid. There are numerous types of asian food, as long as you want it hot! 0 stars- lounge is the worst lounge that Ive encountered in 34 countries across the globe, over 13 yrs of travel. Most of the time, lounge reviews are what steers me to a hotel. I would rather not even have a lounge as have one where the food is inedible. This lounge has salad, and cheese. Then... the absolute worst variety of HOT ASIAN food imaginable. I live 80 mikes from Mexico, in Arizona, so yes, I eat hot food, but this is a new level. Cayenne's and curry, and other Thai/Indian oriented food. Did I mention that the lounge and breakfast area play a non stop loop of LOUD MALAYSIAN ethnic music! Non stop sitar. Oh one more thing, its not an 'Exec' lounge, Its a club lounge and they upsell the heck out of their rooms. One night there were more children than adults. So, its the Doubletree or any other hotel for me from now on!
Excellent stay
Comfortable clean hotel, friendly staffs, good food in the neighbourhood. I wish there is a Bluetooth speaker in the room. Maybe there is a Bluetooth function that can be enabled in the TV, This will come very useful for guest to play their favourite songs from their smart phones.
Good to be back
Back to this property. Again everything is full marks. Clean, good room, good breakfast, good service. Check in by front desk team is solid. Lounge as usual good. And always good to see old friends… Shamini and Ryan! You guys and your team always the best! Keep it up!
An Enjoyable Stay! And just a few improvements for consideration…
Another highly enjoyable stay! Our top-floor room (no elite upgrade this time), overlooking the golf course and straits beyond, was bathed in natural light and felt roomier than it was. It was clean and well maintained. Water pressure was also good. Breakfast was an elaborate affair, and featured many local options. We enjoyed our evening at the Executive Lounge, where the happy-hour offering was varied and tasty. Kudos to the staff, who are, as always, warm and welcoming, and proactively trying to please. Finally, just a few suggestions for improvement: 1) please include on-arrival pressing as part of the executive privileges offered to Bonvoy elites; 2) room amenities should include a bluetooth speaker-and-clock, like the JBL Horizon, which many hotels use; and 3) empower staff to offer alternative benefits when room upgrade for top-tier members are not available.
Great Stay in JB!
Wow, this was one of the best stays! Due to my Bonvoy status (lifetime Titanium), they upgraded us to a suite. The room was very clean and tidy, everything is where it is supposed to be. Service was spot on. All members were friendly and professional. The Club was amazing. Great food and cocktails!
Superb check in experience

Great Hotel Experience
Great hotel, comfortable, extremely clean and professional. We stayed there 5 times and were impressed by their consistent service excellence, especially their front front desk manager, Evan Wong. Evan is not just professional, friendly and efficient. He goes out of his way to make the guests feel special and at home. One of the memorable instances was my birthday celebration which was not pre-arranged. I happened to stay in Renaissance during my birthday recently and he actually remembered my birthday from a previous conversation sometime back and arranged for a cake to be sent to my room and even decorated it with balloons on my actual day. I believe this is what hospitality truly should be about. A successful hotel should not be just a place of accommodation but it should endeavor to be a home away from home for its guests. A human touch makes a world of difference and transforms the guest experience immeasurably.
Amazing View
Having been on the road regularly, nothing beats having a couple of drinks in the club longe with an amazing view after a long day. A call out to Akmal, who is warm and friendly, and very attentive to the guests in the lounge. The location is near to many nice eating places, talk to a navigator, they will point you in the right direction.
Flooding in toilets
Staff were courteous and friendly … service was great but….toilets were a safety hazard as shower doors are not water sealed that leads to flooding in the toilet floor .. had to call housekeeping regularly to clean up toilets and also provide extra bath mats … families visiting with kids and elderly folks please beware . Thanks

During my recent stay at the Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru from January 27 to 29, I had the pleasure of encountering several outstanding employees whose exceptional service and dedication greatly enhanced my experience. Shahid and Safiq Musa from the front office were instrumental in ensuring a seamless and welcoming check-in process, providing valuable information about the hotel's amenities, and demonstrating a high level of professionalism throughout my stay. In the BLD Restaurant, Fatin, Shema, and Zul exemplified the epitome of hospitality, consistently delivering attentive and friendly service during my dining experiences. Their knowledge of the menu and genuine warmth made each meal a delight. Nice place for staycation
Stayed one night in this hotel. The room is clean as expected. The bed and pillows are very comfy. The swimming pool water is clear. We also paid for the breakfast buffet which is quite affordable. We pig out and eat a lot. Hahaha. It's a nice place to relax and unwind. Will come back again.
Quick getaway from the busy Singapore
I’ve had the pleasure to stay at Renaissance for the third time now. The staff is friendly and they accomodate all your request with a smile. Although oI was disappointed they didn’t upgrade my room. I’m a gold member with Marriott and we pay premium price for the stay so we can have the room upgrade. They didn’t upgrade my room and it was rather disappointing. I could have booked via booking.com and save 15% from the price but I go via Marriott App so I can benefit of the upgrade but they asked me 160 Singapore dollar for the upgrade for 2 nights.
Always a pleasure
I usually stay here on business trips. This time combined business trip with pleasure. Always nice to be here. Lounge & Breakfast are great. I especially like the treatment given by From Desk Manager Ms. Shamini & Indian chef Mr. John. I also get very good services in lounge from all staff.
