Atrium Cafe Restaurant Callander Reviews from The Last Year
NOT GOOD
Called hear for Breakfast on the way back from Glencoe on May 9th discovered they dont do breakfast only hot rolls , we ordered two bacon and egg rolls and asked for well done eggs, when our rolls arrived the bacon was burnt and the eggs hardly done, when I complained to the waitress, she replied {you asked for well done bacon} I relied I certainly did not,I asked for well done eggs. later a rather curt lady brought what we had asked for, no apology was offererd. In future we we use ; Taste of the Trossachs which is much much better but had opened later on that day.
Total rip off prices
My husband and I popped into the cafe for two pots of tea and also ordered a couple of empire biscuits. On receiving the bill which was £14.60 I was extremely taken aback to be charged £9 for the two biscuits. I mistakenly thought the biscuits would be less expensive than the cakes. Not so. No prices were advertised at the cake stand. This must change and prices clearly displayed. It’s downright robbery to charge £4.50 for an individual biscuit. To add to this the card machine wasn’t working and, after several attempts, my husband was asked if he had cash. He didn’t so had to find a cash machine. I mentioned to the waitress that there should be a deduction for the inconvenience but it was met with a stony silence and a couldn’t care less attitude. Won’t be back. I’ve noticed that no reviews get any feedback so it shows that the staff clearly don’t care about their customers.
Very small portions, overpriced and poor service.
Went for lunch with a friend, they have battered haddock on the menu but it comes on a sandwich so didn't want that, we settled on a tuna and cheese open sandwich on sourdough bread, what came was half a slice of bread with tuna and cheese on accompanied with one cherry tomato half a slice of cucumber and some lettuce and a tiny portion of coleslaw, thankfully we also had a side portion of chips. The 2 girls serving lacked any customer service skills.
Dog friendly ! Staff so kind
I love coming here for some quiet time just me and my dog! The staff are always so kind and friendly and I really appreciate that. The soup is always amazing and I’ve been very adventurous since coming here and tasted different soups I normally wouldn’t, I can honestly say I have never been disappointed! I kinda wish I could buy the soup to take home also
Customer Service with a smile and style
Following on from my justifiably negative review of a few months ago, I feel it only fair to report on a recent revisit to The Atrium Cafe. The environment, the staff and the coffee were all excellent - customer service was delivered with a smile and a friendly chat and when we went back the day after our initial visit, we were greeted with 'do you want the same as yesterday'. Well done to the staff working on 28th and 29th December - it was a pleasure to be there.
Lovely staff and very cosy
Visited as a recommendation. Only stayed for a cup of tea but the staff were lovely and cakes looked wonderful. Only reason I didn't try the food was time. Would love to go back!
Not good for gluten free
I was told when I arrived that multiple dishes could be made gluten free, however when I ordered a sandwich I was told it wasn’t bread but oatcakes instead. They had no gluten free bread at all. I ended up ordering soup which came with a side of oatcakes instead of bread. It’s not that difficult to keep some gluten free bread in case anyone needs it.
New location but just as good
Been visitors when they were at Brig O’Turk, and also at Poppies. So glad finally managed to visit at their new location in Callander ( The Atrium). Food just as good as at previous establishments. Will definitely be back.
Expensive and underwhelming sandwich
Got some coffee and a cranberry and brie sandwich. Sandwich was over £8 and consisted of the cheese and Cranberry inside 2 ordinary slices of what looked like supermarket style brown bread with a few crisps and a tiny bit of salad. Some nice crusty bread would have been nice. Bill about £12. Is a nice comfortable cafe but unfortunately very overpriced for what I received. Will look elsewhere for a quick bite.
Extremely overpriced!
We visited for a light lunch. Brie & cranberry sandwich and avocado open sandwich. Sandwich untoasted and avocado sandwich bland. Both grossly overpriced. £26 inc Tea & Coffee. Not an enjoyable experience, felt ripped off. Don’t recommend.
