Be the first to ReplyLockdown has me dreaming about one of my last Girl's Night
Lockdown has me dreaming about one of my last Girl's Night Out food extravaganzas. Thankfully, my girl friend and I really did it up by coming to Zenkichi for after-work drinks and dinner.I had come here before and raved about it, but actually didn't remember the name, just the location. So when I passed by it again, I made it my mission to find the name and bookmark it on Yelp. I had to give it another try after all of those years. We made a reservations since we didn't want to risk having to wait to begin our experience and I am happy we did. When we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess in the cutest little dimly-lit zen garden, then immediately escorted upstairs to our super cozy booth. Privacy screen and all. We were social distancing before we knew social distancing was a thing. I'll note that the restaurant overall was in pristine condition - SUPER clean. I definitely appreciated this.We each decided to do the Omakase (highly-recommend) which was not only picture-worthy, but also one of the most delicious meals I've ever had right here in Brooklyn. Every little dish was divine from our starters to our desserts. In addition to the great food and ambiance, our waitress was super friendly and helpful. She explained every dish to us and was very conscious of my request for no sesame seeds (THANK YOU!). This was especially appreciated since I did not do the Omakase during my last meal here. Our meal was a bit pricey, but totally worth the splurge. I would 100% come back for another experience.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a place to be to celebrate a romantic anniversary.
A little tricky to find the entrance and we had to call the restaurant to ask them for directions. Lol. Their ambience literally takes you to Japan. Everything is so calming and zen, you just fall in love with this place instantly. You get a private booth of your own and they also have a call to the server. It was our first time trying Omakase with sake pairing and it did not disappoint us. Our server was really nice and explained us each of the plates that were on the table. A little overpriced but the experience is worth it!

Escape from New York to Japan in the heart of Williamsburg! Love the setup of this place, where each party gets their own private booth, tucked away along dimly lit, labyrinthine hallways. The added touch of curtains for each booth, with service only arriving if you ring the bell, makes this place perfect for a romantic evening or a solid catch-up with friends.I've been three times, and everything we've ordered has always been delicious! A bit on the pricey side, and many dishes are a bit small, making it hard to share, particularly with larger groups. Can't wait to return again!

While yes it's obviously on the pricy side.. It's well worth it... Every course was better than the previous ...I can't wait to go back

I brought my best friend here for her birthday and I must say what an experience. The owners of this place are trying very hard to sell you the full experience and we were so there for it! The servers are extremely kind and very accommodating. They knew we had somewhere to be after dinner and tried their best to make sure we left on time. The food was very delicious. We've never had hot Omakase before and it was first for us. They even brought out dessert and wrote happy birthday as well! How sweet was that! Be prepared to spend $$$, but well worth everything that is happening.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the most overhyped dininn experiences ever.
The concept is great except when there's other people sitting on top of you from all sides. Avoid the tasting menu if your e looking for flavor or taste. The design of the restaurant is stunning.
Be the first to ReplyThe most disgusting meal of my life at an astronomical cost.
As a visitor to the Williamsburg area, I performed Google search to find a Japanese restaurant with consistent ratings. I was looking forward to visiting Zenkichi as the reviews and feedback was overall favorable. In hindsight I wish I looked more at the pictures of indiscernible fish and other fried alleged foods. At the recommendation of the waiter my companion and I ordered the 8 course $75.00 per person omakase tasting menu. To say it was a disastrous disappointment is an understatement and I just pray the few bites of food I ingested doesn't lead to food poisoning. (I am writing this immediately after leaving the restaurant so I don't leave out any details and will be sure to report if I did indeed have a brush of food poisoning). The first course was a large plate with 5 mini saucers, one more disgusting looking than the next. It's sad that a "5 star" restaurant the radish garnish may have been the most edible portion of the meal. It is impossible to say what was worse the rare fruits that resembled human boogers or the scallops in semen. The next course was an inedible gelatinous tofu with spicy onions followed by a fried monkfish that Long John Silvers wouldn't even serve. The "must have" $11 two piece shrimp tempura was nothing more than a grease stick. The sashimi was the least offensive course but tantamount to eating sushi at Duane Reade. The waiter warned of the bones in the bland overrated cod fish. At this point I was praying the meal was almost over but NO THERE WAS MORE. A soup with raw egg and dog meat. The last course was burnt rice from an ice cube tray with a sad truffle. We ordered the desert since we paid for it but planned on just leaving it. I cannot even say the service was satisfactory as the waiter saw we didn't eat any course and never followed up to determine if we were at all dissatisfied. If visiting Brooklyn go ANYWHERE ELSE.

I make sure to come here at least once a year with my husband and it's always a treat! I think we've been about 4 times now and we always get their omakase which changes seasonally. It's fun to see how each dish will be prepared and the atmosphere is super romantic, perfect for couples. Each seat is divided so you basically get your own "mini room" with a roll up door partition thing that the waiter will roll down every time he leaves. The service is great and for those wondering, it's the typical japanese omakase that initially worries you about how full you'll be at the end because of the smaller portions but you leave feeling very full and satisfied at the end.

I've come here twice for my birthday dinner and it's delicious. I don't think there was anything that I've had here that I didn't like. We made reservations for a table of 3 on Saturday evening and all ordered the omakase tasting menu. ALL delicious. We also decided to order the hot green tea since it was a chilly day in December. The service is great--they have a calling button for the server when you need assistance, and they come and clear the table and bring out each dish in a timely manner. My favorite courses were the sashimi (salmon, sea bream and yellowtail), the homemade tofu was also quite delicious with caviar, and monkfish karage. The staff was also nice enough to write "happy birthday" on the desserts that come with the tasting menu. If you have the money to splurge for a nice occasion, would recommend coming here for the tasting menu course.
