Poor customer service
Having taken many corporate clients to this restaurant and spent significant sums of money my experience going as a couple was very different. Firstly, after waiting 36 minutes I had to actively reach out to be served, we requested a bowl of crackers smaller than the standard size but agreed to pay the full menu price. We were informed by our waitress that the manager could not accommodate this request, I think it’s fair to say this set the mood for the evening. The carafe of fairly expensive Chablis then arrived, not as cold as a we would have liked but by then we just wanted to start our evening. The food (which I really do enjoy) then started to arrive but in an express fashion, the pace of delivery was ridiculous and we had to ask that they slowed down so we could actually finish the preceding course and enjoy a few minutes in-between. The food is really good but I can’t help but think that their customer service is now a secondary consideration as they are constantly busy and not short of clientele. I asked that they withdraw the discretionary 13.5% service charge and reminded our server that a £1 bowl of crackers had led to loss of a £43 service fee – from these amounts you can see we are not averse to spending money on what we hoped would be an enjoyable evening. It wasn’t.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely worth a visit
Visited in February 2023. Macarons were first class in terms of texture and text, with some good combination of flavours. Arrived in the evening but would imagine this place would be equally busy during lunchtime.
Be the first to ReplySuperb food
Came here once for a Saturday brunch, exquisite food, reasonably priced, the desserts were out of this world
Be the first to ReplySimply fabulous!
I wasn’t sure what to expect from a modern Chinese dining experience but on visiting Yuaatcha City in Broadgate, London (last weekend) I was certainly not disappointed. The staff were polite and friendly from the moment we arrived. The restaurant itself is in a large space but due to the ambient lighting and the attentiveness of the staff we felt relaxed and cosy. As it was a birthday treat, we opted for the Brunch menu for two people which included a cocktail plus half a bottle of champagne. Each course of the menu was excellent, the Dim Sum was particularly tasty with clearly defined flavours in each dumpling! The remaining courses were also very good and the hand made patisseries to finish off the meal were a delight. The brunch menu was good value for money given the quality of the food and I can’t wait to celebrate there again.
Be the first to ReplyChinese Dim Sum - WOW! Authentic and some of the best Dim Sum ever!
First time visiting Yauatcha City and they have some the best Chinese Dim Sum I have ever tasted. The food was fresh, tasty, and service was excellent. Deserts were amazing too! My family enjoyed the food, service, and location was all the best!
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed that someone can be made to feel this way in 2022. So unprofessional
A friend of mine visited and found a strand of food in her hair which she was told had come from a wig and not a member of staff as ‘all staff had short hair’. They were ignored and treated unprofessionally by the staff in the restaurant. Open displays of racism should not be tolerated in such environments and I would avoid this place at all costs.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible and irresponsible
Booked for work Christmas lunch 2 weeks in advance only to be told AT THE DOOR the kitchen was not functional hence only one type of menu available. Asked the receptionist why not advised earlier and we’d like to cancel for proper lunch elsewhere only for her to tell me the system charged £50 per person cancellation fee £250 total. She didn’t care and just told us to find her manager if any issues. Terrible day - nice weather though.
Be the first to ReplyDinner with unpleasant table
Food was good, we were given a table for three nearby the toilets and an exit door to the terrace, despite an online reservation. Customers and staff were constantly in and out, which was frankly unpleasant and quite rude. We paid a hefty GBP 400 and it was not worth it given the unpleasant table location. We know the Houston place, and it is not yet at this level.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful food, every dish so good.
Another great evening at Yuatcha. The food was excellent as always, every dish an absolute taste sensation! Our waitress Maria was a delight too, cannot fault anything. Our favourite go to restaurant when in the City.
Be the first to ReplyNow just a good Chinese restaurant
Used to be my favourite restaurant in London but not just a good Chinese restaurant. The place still has a great ambience but the service and overall food quality is no longer Michelin star quality. I can see why they lost the star. Even the old menus etc need replacing. Need some changes to get back to the top
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it, save your money
Went for a family lunch on a Saturday and restaurant was fairly quiet. Even though it was quiet, staff forgot food items and trying to catch the eye of the waiter was nearly impossible. Food was nice but super unfriendly staff that can’t really be bothered to speak to their customers and adding 13.5% tip to a table for 4 was really taking the Michael. I wouldn’t rush back.
Be the first to ReplyRed snapper curry
Had good time, plenty of tasty dim sum. Spotlight dor me has to be this curry with green rice. Rare find to come across something special that leaves you happy after you finish and thinking about days after. Must try
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing
We have been coming to Yauatcha since 2016 & this recent visit was really quite disappointing. The food although still great was let down massively by the service. Lots of staff all running around looking very busy but like headless chickens with no proper direction from management. Our server was very good, but spent more time apologising than anything else. Had to ask for water refills, our 2nd wine order & lobster didn’t even arrive & at no point did anyone ask whether we had had a good experience or I’d have been happy to give feedback. On leaving the ‘bouncer’ if that’s what he was, was too busy chatting away to the receptionist to offer to open the door he was actually paid to be in charge of. Basic stuff & a real shame as used to be one of our favourites but I doubt we’d go back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, poor service
It felt like an inconvenience to have a food intolerance. In fact I almost thought they were going to ask us to leave. My 2nd visit and on both occasions being flexible with the set menu with similar priced items seemed a problem. The food was absolutely delicious but I am discouraged from returning since this experience.
Be the first to ReplyWorth a visit!
Had an absolutely great time here at the weekend for a friends birthday! The food was delicious, I had the crispy duck roll to start. It was one of the nicest things I’ve eaten!
For my mains I was a tad disappointed. I had the Kung pao chicken for my main. This can only be described as chillis with a side of chicken and cashews. It was literally a plate of chillis and was almost unbearable to eat. I had the egg fried rice, the portion was huge and definitely for 2!
My first cocktail wasn’t great, the Mango Mule. I then drank the Lychee Ginger Collins for the rest of the evening which was amazing.
The venue is so cool and trendy, great atmosphere.
Thank you
Recommended by our concierge this restaurant was fantastic. The food was amazing, so much choice. service first class delivered with attention to detail. Will definitely recommend..
Be the first to ReplyManager so rude.
I have been a customer since this restaurant opened. Yes since Covid the staff have struggled to keep up service expectations but I understand the challenge. What is totally unacceptable is after having the wrong food brought to table and the right food dropped on floor the surly rude manager (new since Covid - the previous was most courteous) to ask us to move table mid meal due to our time limitation! We hadn’t had time to eat what we ordered due to bad service! Not a complimentary drink for the inconvenience but aggressively told to move mid meal. Staff may be hard to find but this manager needs to be removed he clearly doesn’t understand customer service.

Sadly it was very disappointing, we have been to Yautcha many times and this was by far the worst visit, food was average and the service wow!! Poor at best sadly, the “manager” was soo condescending towards us, we will not be coming back for a while!!
Be the first to ReplyDelivery from Deliveroo
Ordered a set menu costing £80 plus on Deliveroo from the restaurant, only got the dessert, not a single main or dim sum at all. Apparently they said the driver stole the food, and it happened a lot. Then complained and spent 30 mins on the phone, got zero compensation back, and no food!!! Extremely disappointed for a such a premium restaurant and the partnership between them and Deliveroo. If they knew the problem exist and try to do the blame game, why don’t you just solve the problem from the root. Would not recommend to anyone!!!
Be the first to ReplyGood ambience but overpriced
Vibrant nightclubby ambience for evening drinks and small plates after work, expect to spend at least 20 pounds per head plus 13.5% service charge. But for proper meals with friends and family, the main courses - chinese food average quality (normally found in less pricey Chinatown) - example biggest rip-off was bowl of jasmine white rice at 6 pounds! Service efficient but "robotic" - did not feel the 6*star quality expected of this overhyped "Hakkasan group" brand sold by entreprenuer Alan Yau to overseas investors (who do not really understand authentic chinese cuisine). Overrated form of Wagamma for Westerners?
Be the first to ReplyGood food let down by service and atmosphere
We’ve attended Yauatcha Soho and had a great time, and this was a few years ago. Unfortunately our visit this time was less than stellar.
The food was good, venison puffs, edemame and truffle / iberico pork dumplings all good. But service was a real let down. We were sat for a good 15 minutes before we had to flag someone down to take our order. No offer of water, requested it and throughout the meal we had to keep asking to get our glasses topped up. Just no real care in the service which was very disappointing. Mentioned it was my wife’s birthday, not expecting anything extravagant but an acknowledgment with a candle or something simple is always appreciated, but nothing.
Music very loud so hard to chat, full of people more interested in ‘being seen’ and wanting pictures/selfies for their Instagram pages than the food.
With the significant price rises since our last visit you expect a pretty seamless experience. But I can’t see us returning, there is just as good if not better dim sum in London, for less, and with much better service and ambiance.
It's good.
Yauatcha is actually a really great dim sum restaurant. Though some reviewers have said it's noisy, that is true and the noise come from loud customers, and from some who get over-excited to be in a restaurant. There do tend to be larger groups with huge coats and rucksacks sometimes.
The food is consistently good and I only have the dim sum and cheung fun, I don't really go for the other foods like spring rolls as they can be eaten in many other oriental restaurants.
The service is good, but staff can be really rushed off their feets.
You won't get better dim sum anywhere else.
Average Restaurant
My friends had invited me to Yauatcha City, after reading the reviews I was quite scared to have a bad experience. The service is a real hit or miss. There are some very friendly waiters who will provide a good experience for you and there some not necessarily rude but impatient waiters who look down on you and are stuck up. We ordered dimsum and 1 main. Honestly with the mains, you might as well go to Chinatown and find it at a cheaper price and more delicious. With the dimsum, they were really small and their value did not match their value at all. Nevertheless, I ordered Jasmine Tea which was very fragrant!
The waitress was quite quick to pack up our dishes without asking at all. It was also quite noisy in the restaurant as well and closely packed together. The bill came up to £145. I wish they were more transparent and clear with their deposit rules and addition of other items.
In all I think Yauatcha City is mediocre and you might as well go to Chinatown for better value and a better price.
Good food but very noisy restaurant
Good food but very noisy restaurant and having the menu online with no hard copy is both annoying and makes ordering more difficult. The waiter also kept leaning forward and touching my phone screen to navigate the menu which was totally unnecessary and also very unhygienic, especially in times of covid - if he’s touching my screen then he’s touching those of other customers as well, and I doubt he’s washing his hands in between.
