Love this place -the service, the food and the ambiance are just all very nice. We return here time after time!
Gone are the glory days of this place.
The place is still pretty classic, but the food doesn't live up to what it once used to be. There are also very good alternative options all over the city so that really takes away from the appeal of this place.

I came here alone, figured I couldn't try many yakitori items so I got one of the dinner set, which included sashimi, soba noodles, rice, shrimp tempura and some side dishes. Oh my gosh everything was so delicious! And the dinner set also came with dessert. I tried green tea mochi which was also super yummy! Service was great, and the ambience was casual but intimate. I can't wait to go back and try their yakitori!

Nice little spot to go to for yakitori - we ordered the Spicy Cucumber Pickle ($7), Takoyaki ($10), Agedashi Tofu (11), and an assortment of skewers and vegetables. The cucumber was good, although I felt like it could have been pickled longer - it seemed like they just put a sauce on top of a whole sliced cucumber. The Agedashi Tofu was just as I wanted and the Takoyaki was standard, but the Chicken Tsukune (meatball - $6), usually my favorite type of skewer, was a letdown. It was just plain ground chicken on a skewer - the meat was not really seasoned and also not in a meatball shape! The Negima (breast w/ scallion - $5) was also bland. It also took a bit to get the waiter's attention when I noticed that the spoon for the Agedashi Tofu was dirty and when we wanted the check. Overall I wanted to enjoy Yakitori Totto more, but it was just okay for me.

Good ingredients, Slipping standards YAKATORI is one of those restaurants that was famed for food quality, an authentic experience, no reservation policy and long lines. For years. Last visit was before COVID Many establishments struggled with / post COVID. Sadly YAKATORI has too. Ingredients are not as fresh, and the flavours on too many dishes have coalesced into "blah" blandness. Old staples like the Japanese Fried Chicken Wings, Chicken Gizzards, and Heart Source were...... meh....... okay. Eggplant was a little on the mushy. The sake selection was suitably impressive. The lamb was grilled to perfection. American "Wagyu" beef was good and succulently grilled Restaurants are made or broken by the food. YAKATORI still has some "gas in the tank". The old gem, however, needs help to recover its former sparkle
Not sure how I haven't reviewed Yakitori Totto before, but
Not sure how I haven't reviewed Yakitori Totto before, but it's really become a required stop every time I'm visiting NYC. It's tiny and feels like it is straight out of a side street in Tokyo but the food is amazing - flavorful and cooked perfectly. Book ahead of time and try to eat right when they open so you have room to breathe. Service can be a bit rushed at times when they are busy but they are quick to serve you and provide drink refills. You have to be able to walk up a pretty steep flight of stairs from street level to get in.
Overcooked rice and eel were too little for the price.
The started Octopus meatball was decent. Otherwise terrible overall food.
Amazing food.
I would order one of the lunch specials with extra skewers. It's a small place and gets packed during lunch time so get there early.
One of the very few restaurants I return to repeatedly.
I'm not vegetarian and I'm not usually a big fan of tofu, but I especially love the agedashi tofu here. And all the skewers are satisfying.

I came here with my friend for dinner, and I couldn't find the entrance for a few minutes haha! You go up a set of stairs to get to the restaurant. I ordered three skewers: the Momo (Chicken Thigh), Tsukune (Chicken Meatball), and Unagi (Eel). We ordered the Takoyaki to share. All the skewers were seasoned and charred perfectly, and it was a pretty good size. The Momo was my favorite, and it was moist and tasty. The Takoyaki was creamy and crunchy on the outside, which I also enjoyed. I will be back!

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

You should probably cancel prior to the cancellation date per the cancellation policy. I would imagine you would only get reimbursed for a sold listing if you happen to be charged?

My first sale took about a week. But as the other commenter said stay ontop of your cancellation windows. There’s no reimbursement for those so make sure you cancel in time then just try again.
