Prices have gone up, but still worth every penny.
4 course dinner for $65. High quality ingredients! The beehive is still one of my all time favorite cocktails...can't visit Chicago without coming here.

WOW!! That is the impression I had stepping off the elevator. Don't let the medical office deter you from stopping by. I had been wanting to visit WoodWind for quite some time and now I'm mad at myself for taking so long to check it out. Stepping off the elevator, you are transported into a sultry, swanky and stylish space. There is a lot of wood designed with an ode to Mid-Century Modern. I fell in love on the spot.Once I started interacting with the staff, I realized just how lucky I am to have the fantastic option for lunch, happy hour and dinner in my neighborhood. The hostess was very sweet, our server was attentive, and the General Manager was so gracious. The menu is creative, expertly prepared, and stylishly presented. We tried several dishes and LOVED everything. The House Ricotta with mishmish was so smooth. The Chickpea Fries were stacked like a Jinga game, with fun, yellow tumeric & feta sauce. It offered a crunchy yet soft texture. The Lobster Bao was steamed to perfection with a delicate sauce that finished the flavor palate nicely. With a whimsical flair, bubble gum flavored cotton candy was brought to our table. After our meal, the Sales Manager brought us around to view the event spaces. She was very thoughtful and offered a ton of information regarding events and on or off property catering. The rooms, views and outdoor spaces are incredible. I want to have a party there! This beautiful restaurant offers fun special events. Coming up, they are having ladies' night with cocktails and a flower arranging workshop. It is so easy to park in the attached garage. They validate your ticket that brings the cost down to $16.
Be the first to ReplyGreat happy hour.
You forget you are in a hospital entirely! Marvin was a great bartender recommending all the best happy hour dishes.... Chickpea fries and house ricotta! I had the chickpea fries and I was thoroughly impressed: texture, flavor, feta sauce, all the spices, serving size and oh the Lincoln log stacking presentation was all too perfect! Worth the visit for just this app! Had the burger with side salad, and again was I pressed and so satisfied. I had one meal this day and it was at Woodwind and I'm glad I had an appetite for it all!!
Be the first to ReplyWe have eaten here twice in the last month.
First the food, almost everything was excellent, portions were good. Our first time was during restaurant week and we all had the prix-fixe. I am a little picky so didn't love the 1st course but everyone else was thrilled. High marks from family for the tots and caviar. 2nd course the bisque and the maitake mushroom were awesome. All entrees great, mom said the fried chicken and waffles was the best fried chicken ever. On our 2nd trip my mom and I split the duck which was incredible and worth the price. On both visits we were with my elderly parents and they were treated well and our service was very good, friendly and helpful. Hard to believe it is inside a hospital! Given that it is walking distance from my parent's place, I anticipate many more visits.

The view it's heartbreaking since it's on the rooftop of a hospital and in the summer time you can enjoy it from the outdoor terrace. The stuff it's always helpful and the service it's very impeccable they know what they do. The food it's very good and fancy ( I have to say that when I was the first time there in pandemic in 2021 the portion were kinda normal now are very small )but always tasty .I had the octopus this time and I have to say that was the best one (crispy ) that I've had in a while and my husband pork belly Al pastor tacos. The cocktails are mixology and none of them disappointing.:) At the end they have a lovely surprise when they bring you the check it's a pink cotton candy put a smile on my face and felt so nice. Can't wait to go back again to try more.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely phenomenal courses here at Woodwind.
Was treated with great service from the start. Entered the restaurant with high hopes and they went above and beyond. Started out with the Tots and Caviar. Worth every penny of the $30. Followed the Tots up with a Woodwind Burger which was to die for. Something i've truly never tasted before. one of the best burgers I've had in my life. In addition we also had the short rib which indeed, changed my life. Wrapped in the pancakes was game changer but the rib on its own was one of a kind. Definitely will be telling friends and family about this one!-Charlie McArdle
Be the first to ReplyWhat a pleasant surprise to find this upscale restaurant
What a pleasant surprise to find this upscale restaurant tucked away in a downtown medical building.Very nice ambience in this 18th floor restaurant. There is also a rooftop area which we will have to check out when the weather is nicer, to enjoy the beautiful views of the city. We started the meal with a delicious red wine. They have a good wine selection. The couple we went with had some type of ricotta and toast appetizer that they said was very good.My husband and I started with the Aztec salad and it was very flavorful. Next, we enjoyed the perfectly cooked scallops. Our friends split an order of the chicken and waffle which they said was spicy but very good. They recommended getting a side of maple syrup to cut some of the heat of the chicken.Three of the four of us split some type of chocolate mousse dessert that is topped by a glass dome filled with smoke...fancy and yummy. At the end of the meal they bring you freshly made cotton candy with your bill. The service was very good and there are gluten-free options.

Beautiful restaurant, and a terrace for outdoor dining in warm weather. I know this area well, so the restaurant was easy to find (inside the hospital). A sparkling modern interior with tables that are comfortably far from one another. We did restaurant week and I absolutely adored the mushroom entree with fish flakes and a carmelized sauce. The short rib was tender and tasty too, and the chive cream fraiche with the tater tots?! YUM. My gripe is that our meal was terribly long: 2.5 hours. I sat for far too long and needed to walk around. A little faster service would've been nice
Be the first to ReplyThis meal was just BAD.
Atmosphere - if you enjoy walking through a hospital to get to a restaurant with no view, this is your place.RICE CHICHARRÓN - read carefully - its says "flavors of bagels and lox" in reality you get a rice cake with some nasty foam to dip it in.BLOOMIN' MAITAKE - amazing looking mushroom - no sauce or flavorChicken and Waffles - WTF how do you mess this up. The chicken was so spicy i only took three bites. Each bite was so intensely hot. The waffle was flat and tasteless.Staff was ok, clearly they dont love it. No one seemed super happy. Even when they bring you cotton candy it was with a frown.
Be the first to ReplyEasily becoming one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
I first came over the summer for happy hour drinks and apps - the rooftop bar is really special because it's super spacious and has a beautiful view of the sunset behind the skyline. They make the bee hive drink into a delicious mocktail - one of the best I've ever had! This really sold me as the presentation was wonderful and its made with quality ingredients. Their apps were all delicious especially the house made ricotta and chickpea fries - highlighting that even vegetarian items can pack a great flavor punch. I came back again recently for restaurant week lunch and the service here is top notch. Juan took great care of me and helped make sure I was in and out in under an hour since I popped on during my lunch break. Their short rib is super tender with just enough fat and tons of flavor that's paired nicely with an acidic radish/carrot slaw. The ube woodwich dessert was unique and had wonderful textures though I wish the ube flavor came through a bit more. This is a great place to come with coworkers for an after work meet up but also great for little treat yourself meal. They have prefix menus year round for lunch and dinner! The menu is not extensive which I appreciate because they seem to really put thought and care into what items they serve. They not only put out quality food but pair it with wonderful ambiance and excellent service. This is a place I'd highly recommend whether you're a traveling guest passing through or live in the city.

Woodwind hosted an amazing event for the Yelp! Elite squad! The drinks were beautifully crafted and delicious. Woodwind has one of the best views of Chicago and the service was great! My only complaint was the lack of Vegan items :( otherwise a great experience for my friend and me.
Be the first to ReplyWOWWWWWW.
This meal was unbelievable. We stopped in for dinner on a whim and I am so glad we did. Our server was so fun and generous, and the FOOD! We had so many different things and he gave us every dessert because it was a friends birthday. Honestly it was all so delicious and I would order everything again. We split everything family style and that was for sure the way to go. Cannot wait to go back!!!
Be the first to ReplyCute rooftop scene.
If you are looking for a nice rooftop with fun drinks and some decent food- consider the WoodWind. On more sunny days, there is an area with slight amount of covering.

I went to WoodWind on a beautiful Chicago summer evening with a friend and had a great time! Their rooftop boasts beautiful views. Their drinks are really refreshing and tasty. There are great vibes both inside and outside and it's a great place to hang out with friends or go on a date or even just hang out solo to take in the views. I definitely recommend!

An ACTUAL hidden gem! Enter through Northwestern Memorial and take the elevator up to the 18th floor to discover a gorgeous high-end rooftop dining space with breathtaking views of the city and the lake. Before I go any further, I have to give a shout out to the absolute gem of a server, Juan. Juan truly provided *perfect* service, was a pleasure to talk to, and (most importantly!) it was clear he really enjoys his job at WoodWind. We decided to go tapas style and started with the chickpea fries, house ricotta, and peas a la cacio e pepe. The ricotta was almost a dessert, it was so rich, decadent, and delicious. The peas were really the star of the show, and a unique twist on cacio e pepe. the flavors was absolutely incredible! The short rib came highly recommended by Juan and the other staff working, so we decided to split that and the scallops as well. The short rib came with lemongrass, carrot purée, pickled slaw, scallion pancakes. The pancakes allowed us to make a short rib taco and the flavors were top notch. The short rib was cooked to perfection. The thoughtfulness Chef Alex puts into the menu truly shines through in the food quality and presentation. We were celebrating a friends birthday and went all out with desserts, and let me tell you all are phenomenal! My favorite was definitely the smoked chocolate pot de creme though. The smokey flavor balanced by the sweet caramel and rich chocolate was unlike anything I've ever had.I cannot wait to come back to WoodWind! I'm really excited to give the brunch menu a try one of these days.
Be the first to ReplyStreeterville sleeper.
Woodwind is a fantastic establishment. Came here for a rooftop event and decided to stay for dinner. The rooftop is amazing. Nestled 18 floors up within the Northwestern Medical Center. So many views of Chicago City skyline. Can also see the Lake and Ohio Street Beach. My absolute favorite thing about this rooftop, is the up close views of the surrounding architecture. Woodwind has been opened for a few years and vibe is so customer service focused. Juan was our waiter for the evening. He was so pleasant, and so funny. We had the greatest time talking about his love for sports and his home land Mexico. He was able to describe with specificity what dishes would complement each other. We decided to go family style. That way we could try a few different items. For Food: House-made Ricotta, Chickpea Fries, Peas a La Cacio E Pepe, Seared Scallops, and Grilled Short Rib with scallion pancakes. By far the Short Rib was my favorite. The meat was so tender, while the carrot puree and pickled slaw just set it off. Next time, I ain't sharing this dish!!! For Dessert we went slightly overboard, in a good way. It was the night before my birthday so why not. Strawberry Sorbet, Rhubard Tart, Smoked Pot de Creme and even Cotton Candy. Time and time again, I will get the Smoked Pot de Creme. First of all, there is caramel in the middle of chocolate mousse. Then it comes out all smoky and seductive. You just feel like you are having roasted smores inside of your cabin in the woods. It was so good. I would recommend this dish hands down if you love chocolate. Other desserts were also fantastic and offered a well balanced flavor profile. This evening was perfect. Not only did Chef Alex come to our table to discuss the inception of Woodwind, he also described how the menu changes seasonally. All I know is that I need to get back to get more ricotta, more short rib and topped off with Smoked Pot de Creme. So fancy but also feel good food. Come visit this restaurant for brunch, lunch, happy hour or dinner. I promise you will not be disappointed. They have mixologist who is masterful at creating cocktails. If you are a big fan of Old Fashions, then this one is a must. I have already penciled in my calendar for my second coming of Woodwind. The prix fixe is a steal for both Lunch and Dinner.

Looking for a rooftop with great cocktails downtown? Look no further, this place is the perfect happy hour spot. You'll have sun until the sunsets and pleasant breezes too! I absolutely loved the lavender caprianha, it was beautiful with the orchid and we'll balanced too. Not too sweet at all and probably sneaky strong. I had an opportunity to attend a Yelp Elite event here and got to try a handful of cocktails and small bites. Service was phenomenal!! The lavender caprianha was a standout for me, worth going back just for that beautiful beverage. The beehive was delicious too! Bring your mask to get in because you do need to walk through the entry Hospitals Lavin pavilion. What a lovely hidden gem in Streeterville!
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere with a rooftop outdoor seating in the city.
Good cocktails. Excellent food. Loved the taste preparation and presentation. Reasoning for 4 stars is because of some design flaws with the experience. For example, every chair does not have pads so when you move your chair it screeches a loud noise and makes everyone uncomfortable. Service is good during dinner, but not so good after 8pm.

Amazing service and incredible meal in a stunning location! I had the prix fixe menu and was blown away by the peas and salmon in particular. The wait staff could not have been more generous, kind or attentive... this midwestern soccer mom felt like Hollywood with the extra care to every detail (my waiter Victor even asked if I wanted to go inside after the sun set- how thoughtful!). This hidden gem is one of the city's best kept secrets!

So the view is beautiful and even the physical aspects of this restaurant is gorgeous. Food - bad. Service - terrible and slow. To be honest we only went here because other popular places were booked. This place had plenty of spots open, which should have rang a bell. The waiter was a nice guy, but there were hardly any people and it took FOREVER to get our drinks food and bill. We had the oysters, gnocchi, onion soup, Aztec salad. Oysters were alright, but the onion soup was atrocious and very very salty. The gnocchi tasted way too fishy - not in a good seafood way. They have a pre fixed menu and I am so glad I didn't do it because I would have been very upset.Anyways this place has so much potential.

Woodwind is phenomenal! I went here with a group of girl friends during restaurant week and it did not disappoint. The interior is gorgeous. The food was delicious and the service was AMAZING. The waiters were so kind and loved how they engaged with us and made us laugh. They were the highlight of our dinner! Props to the chef for the heavenly dishes and for taking the last picture for our disposable camera, haha! Will definitely be back and recommend to friends & family. It was a pleasure to dine here.

Fantastic choice for Restaurant Week--amazing value, service, quality food, chill vibe away from the city noise. I couldn't have been happier as a solo diner-adequate attention but mindful of when I was engrossed in my book :). Their house made pickles are amazing!!
Be the first to ReplyWent for restaurant week over the weekend with a party of 8.
Oscar, our server, was amazing and his attention to detail really made our night! From the Foggy Forest drink, cocktail flights and the 4 course meal, it was perfect! We cannot wait to go back and enjoy their patio! Thanks again Woodwind and Oscar for a fun night out in the city!

Everything was excellent with large portions. The smoked pot de crème was amazing. Lovely location, excellent service. Highly recommend.

WoodWind was amazing! We were definitely thrown off by it's location (18th floor of a medical building) but don't let it deter you! We came for Restaurant Week and had the prix fixe menu with the cocktail pairing. WOW WERE WE IMPRESSED. We had the chickpea fries, honey ricotta, butternut squash soup, Brussels sprouts, short rib, chicken and waffles, smoked chocolate pot de creme, and apple dessert flambé. EVERYTHING WAS FANTASTIC and so well-plated. The cocktail pairing had a grapefruit aromatic which was just a perfect touch. The check even came with a pineapple cotton candy. I definitely can't wait to come back and try their other offerings.
