Woodcut Barangaroo Reviews from The Last Year
Fabulous lunch!
We had Sunday lunch at Woodcut for my birthday. Not only did it have a fantastic view to dine by, the food and wines were excellent, the menu had everything I wanted and more. Delicious and well presented dishes, the food and the staff were amazing, and made my birthday very special, thoroughly recommend it.
Amazing service
Top restaurant with brilliant food and amazing service. Atmosphere is very nice for a special occasion but highlight is the excellent food
Christmas Eve dinner GREAT EXPERIENCE
A christmas eve dinner Delicious, we ordered meats, wine, sides and my daughter a dish from the kids menu which was world class. The service was first class. It is an expensive restaurant but worth the experience, we chose the terrace which has a beautiful water view. We will be back. Special thanks to Victor (I hope that's is spelled) Very friendly and professional. Five starts
Delicious but expensive
Invariably when I visit any of the ‘Big’ cities located around our fabulous world I like to take myself out for a ‘special’ dinner and so when visiting Sydney recently I did a little research and settled on The WoodCut at the new and somewhat controversial Barangaroo Crown Hotel and Casino. Finding a venue to dine solo in these days is neither as haphazard or difficult as it used to be, although given that my chosen dining date was the Friday before Christmas meant that some of the restaurants that I was hoping to dine out were completely booked out. WoodCut also had no availability via their online booking facility however a quick call later I secured a seat at the Chef’s table which I always enjoy .. both for the entertainment value of watching the ‘kitchen ballet’ but also for the often convivial nature of this dining area and the chance to chat to other like minded solo diners and travellers. I chose to have a cocktail upstairs at Cinq on the 26th floor however in hindsight I think I would have preferred to have had a pre-dinner drink at the bar at WoodCut which looked quite nice. Cinq was posey and fairly ordinary .. but the less said about that the better. On arriving I was pleasantly greeted, escorted to my seat and given the option of a few different areas around the kitchen bar area dependant on my bent for viewing. I opted for a seat close to the corner which allowed for a view of the action without the fear of it being too smokey or noisy. I was quickly offered a menu and asked if I would like sparkling water. I was then given time to peruse the drink and food menu before the lovely wait person came to take my order. On ordering the sirloin I was politely informed that due to the cut of beef with bone in it would possibly take 40 minutes, which seemed a little excessive given that the restaurant was really not very busy and I was having my steak rare, but none the less it was good to be informed. My wine arrived promptly and as there was in fact one other solo diner at the table we chatted amicably until each of our meals arrived. I could not fault the steak, it was cooked perfectly and the sides of spinach and potato were delicious and very generous in size. Suggestive feedback on the meal would be that the sides could be offered in smaller solo portions as I would imagine that they are designed to be shared by the table and as it was of course just me .,. there was no way I could consume all of them however the price of each side significantly increased the final bill. Just as I finished my glass of wine the waitperson magically arrived to ask if I would like another glass and as I was still working my way through the very large sirloin and massive sides I of course replied “why not”. So the verdict …. Delicious but.very much on the expensive side and smaller meal portion options would be appreciated .. oh and the fact that I was charged $6 for the glass of sparkling water was .. well just a little offensive .. at these prices and the fact that the sparkling is from a communal bottle made on premise with their soda-stream system .. seriously Crown .. this could be complimentary. All in All though a delicious entertaining meal and I would definitely recommend and return.
Worth to visit Woodcut
Ate at Woodcut tonight (3 Nov) in Crown Towers Sydney for the 1st time. They use wood to cook. Steak was good. Saw a lot of diners ordering octopus which i did not. Never mind, next time. Total damage A$258. I ordered the following: a) Grilled Black Tasmsnian Garlic Bread - A$12 b) Wagyu beef skewer -A$22 c) Stone Axe Sirloin Steak and Green Peppercorn Sauce - A$185 d) Skin on Chips - A$13.00 e) Cheesecake cocktail - A$26.00 Total -A$258
Exceptional experience.
We had an exceptional night with superb service and staff who were very attentive and professional, food quality and experience was phenomenal and couldn’t fault. Advanced and fantastic quality wine list. Enjoyed a fantastic birthday dinner and look forward to visiting again. Would highly recommend Woodcut to anyone looking for a fantastic dinning experience. There was nothing to fault from the time we arrived to the time we left.
Delicious and great service
My husband and I ate here for lunch on Saturday. We've been here a few times and this time didn't disappoint. The service from our wait person was great and the food still is amazing. Thanks everyone, we'll be back
Great lunch for families
Amazing steaks, good varied menu and a big well priced wine list. Dessert was as thick and dense as my daughter, who enjoyed the colouring in provided.
Beyond expectations
Exceeding expectations. We’re recommended by a friend and it lived up to its reputation. Excellent food and staff service and demeanor the best. The steak was beautifully done and all accompanied small/side dishes of high standard

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
