Arranged a birthday dinner here, because of our party size
Arranged a birthday dinner here, because of our party size we did a Prix Fixe. When I arrived at the restaurant the table was not ready and they even sat another party at our table. When the hostess came to seat us she brought regular menus and then I had to mention something to her and then they held us in the lobby for a good 30 minutes from our reservation before they got it right. Keep in mind we paid for a 3 hour open bar which was a great deal but when 10pm came around they were trying to close up and basically rushed us out the restaurant so we didn't even get the 3 hours open bar as we paid for. Appetizers, drinks and dessert were good, entrees were a bit on the salty side. Environment seemed clean and nice for a Spanish spot.
Be the first to ReplyOur favorite restaurant in New York since 1985.
The food, the service, the ambiance are all super excellent. We have recommended Victors to dozens of family and friends over the years. Everyone loved it. The best Cuban/Spanish/ Caribbean food in NYC. Among many favorites, they serve red snapper, ox tails and fried plantains on the menu. And, last but not least THE BEST CEVICHE EVER! Bar none!
Be the first to ReplyThe service and food are both excellent here.
We went for brunch, and the sangria is awesome. The empanadas are also so good. Their homemade hot sauce is incredible. It's a beautiful spot and I highly recommend.

I actually would have given a lower rating, but we were running late and told the staff we needed to get through brunch quickly to catch a show, so it's possible the food would have been better if they weren't trying to rush. I also didn't raise the issues with the staff because we really didn't have time for second attempts. My wife had the Lechon Asado, which was good. The yucca that comes with it was an odd preparation. I ordered the Ropa Vieja, a dish I normally love. Their version was mediocre at best, and came to the table room temperature, as if they forgot to heat it up before sending it out. The black beans that came with it were overly salty. We also ordered a side of the fried sweet plantains, which were overcooked and dried out. Portions were very small for the price, but it wasn't like I wanted more of anything. My wife had flan for dessert, which was closer to packaged vanilla pudding than flan. The espresso was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful, and may have been able to address our concerns if we'd had time to wait for it, but there certainly wasn't much that the kitchen got right on the first try.

Ambiance is full of energy! Service is always on point - very attentive! Food is always amazing! I have here many times over the years and the food and service never disappoint. This is not a place to come for an intimate dinner - music and conversation fills the dining rooms.
Be the first to ReplyI was seeing a play in the neighborhood with some long time
I was seeing a play in the neighborhood with some long time friends from out of town and suggested we eat at Victor's Cafe and I'm glad I did. The food AND the service were both wonderful. I had to change the reservation at the last minute and they were so nice about it. The woman at the desk went beyond just being professional and courteous, she was very sweet and I found that warm hospitality carried over to everyone else who worked there as well. There are several rooms from elegant to more casual but all with a lot of "character" and lots of atmosphere. There's an interesting cocktail list. I wanted something spicy to drink and they recommended the Spicy Papaya Margarita which I loved. It had just enough spiciness and wasn't overly sweet. We shared appetizers and the 1492 Apertivo Cubano was a nice mix that gave us a chance to try a few different appetizers and we liked all of them. The Ropa Vieja melted in my mouth, succulent and tender, and came with rice and beans and we all agreed that they really know how to bring out flavors at Victor's. The various sauces that come with everything from the appetizers to the churros were wonderful. Then they even went out of their way to help me celebrate a birthday by singing and even presenting me with a signed card. My out of town friends will be recommending this to others when visiting NY and, since I live here, I know I'll be back with my husband.

Love the location of this restaurant, which leans toward business casual. The plantains, empanadas and yucca fries are all very good appetizer options. The vaca frita, ropa vieja and lechon asada are delicious choices and a great option for anyone who is unfamiliar with Cuban food. I will say that the prices are a little high for Cuban food - not surprising when you consider the location. But this is good dinner option if you want to get dressed up a little and catch a show afterwards.

Damon( sp?) was soooo charming, as he told us there were no tables available in the dining area, as we slipped in before our show. But he suggested we sip in the bar area, at a table. I wish our waiter had been as attentive as he was. We loved the vibe in the bar. But the wait was excessive until I flagged down someone who wasn't our waiter, after all. He then got someone else, who took our order. New waiter. We ordered La Jefe and Havana Spice. Both were delicious. We decided on appetizers due to the time constraints. We ordered Cuban quesadilla and empanadas de pollo. Both were delicious and satisfying . This is a very popular restaurant and I'd love to spend more time here.

My friends and I, all from California, were in New York for a ballroom dance competition. We had the pleasure of dining at Victor's on Saturday night. The food was absolutely delicious, served piping hot and with great finesses. Service was outstanding. We loved the atmosphere. The vibe was classy and lively. We will definitely recommend Victor's to our friends.
Be the first to ReplyOne of our favorites! Great food and atmosphere.
The menu offers lots of options. The seafood paella and the bistec are one of our favorites.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a really good time at Victor's.
It is a huge place, for theatre dinners, at first I thought it would be disappointing, but no.Service is impeccable, ambiance is bubbly and the food was great. I really enjoyed my shrimps, Camarones Enchilados, and the black beans with rice. I tasted also a bit of the tapas served to share of my friends, quesadillas. All good!

Ate brunch here and was surprised to find out it was still Restaurant Week in NYC. In addition to the regular brunch menu, they offered a prix fixe menu which included 3 courses for $30 (alcohol not included). I always like to try multiple dishes when I am visiting a new restaurant so prix fixe dining was the best option. Considering the price, this was a steal for NYC dining. Food was good with the Cuban Eggs Benedict being a stand out entree choice. This dish was a spin on the traditional dish with Ropa Vieja in place of the meat. The meat was well seasoned and super tender. My reservation occurred pre-theater matinee time. The restaurant was crowded when I arrived. Noise level was a bit high for my liking but considering the amount of customers and the timing it was acceptable. Serving staff was polite and efficient getting the customers fed and out the door in a reasonable amount of time to get to the theater. Overall, I would recommend for lunch. A reservation is required. Location is good if looking for a bite to eat before a Saturday matinee.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for pre/post Broadway show eats.
I highly recommend you make a reservation because it can get CROWDED! Personally, the sangria didn't give me the kick I hoped. The champagne one was good though... Better than the other flavor (I can't recall if it was red or white because it was not memorable - driving home my point). Kind of pricey in that annoying way of, this really should be a few bucks less and it just adds up over a three course meal with drinks. But the service was lovely and the food was truly enjoyable. I'd return.

Came here for brunch and had a fantastic time! It had been on my list for forever and so I was excited to finally get a chance to eat here. We were seated in the back of the restaurant under the skylights which was really pretty. I got the vaca frita hash and a side of maduros and both were DELICIOUS. We also split an order of churros for dessert which comes with three different dipping sauces and were amazing. I highly recommend for brunch if you like Cuban food - their menu has a lot of different options so there is something for everyone. I can't wait to come back for dinner!
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievable!! The decor and the atmosphere to the service
Unbelievable!! The decor and the atmosphere to the service to the food was divine! After eating there I wished we would've gone back a second time before we left the city. The mojito was absolutely the best mojito I've ever had. Our waiter told us their process of making them too. The black beans were so smooth and delicious, and I don't normally like black beans. My husband got the fish and wow oh wow!!! Worth every Penny at this place!
Be the first to ReplyI came here on a Sunday afternoon for brunch.
The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and the layout is pretty spacious as well. The staff was very attentive, polite and professional. For an appetizer we got the empanadas de pollo and these plantain balls (forgot the name of the dish) which were both tasty. I had the Cuban eggs Benedict which was flavorful and delicious! It doesn't come with the traditional egg muffin but the bread was buttery and flaky. I had the El Fuerte drink which was strong just how I like it. My friend had the coconut mojito which was pretty good to. My daughter had the sliders which came with very thin fried potatoes they were thinner than shoestring fries. But she still enjoyed it. Overall I would definitely return and recommend others to try out this restaurant. I will definitely be back for dinner next time.
Be the first to ReplyIt was a choice between this restaurant and another local
It was a choice between this restaurant and another local Cuban place. A colleague recommended this one. However it has also been a long time since she frequented this establishment. It seems to have quite a few good reviews so maybe I just went on a bad day. We had reservations and arrived 30 minutes early but was seated right away which was a plus. First we asked for water with lemon, 3 times yet no lemon. I would have to say the only meal that was good was the Havana Guac for starter. It was very fresh wish they would just add more root chip since you only get 4 thin. For dinner, we ordered the Ropa Vieja, proportion was a bit off, not enough rice/beans for the meat. Paella De Vegetales which was dry in my opinion and Yucca fries. For dessert, Flan which was more of a cream cheese taste to it and Tres leches cake which was ok. The atmosphere was nice and I have to say they didn't rush us out especially since it was peak hour.

Ask for Diego as your server if you can! Order the Ropa Vieja! This is the best version of Ropa Vieja I've ever had in any Cuban restaurant. Instead of eating dessert at the end, we got the tropical chips. That was a good way to end the meal. I never thought chips could taste so good and unique. They serve it with some salsas that were super unique and tasty as well. This place doesn't disappoint and apparently I've been 4 times now.
Be the first to ReplyI've been wanting to come here for 3 years.
My family have been here several times and recommended it. We all ordered the Churrasco con Chimichurri which came with rice & beans, not pictured. Everything was amazing and did not disappoint. The plantains was delicious. The shrimp was in a delicious sauce. The beans was my favorite over white rice. The meat was perfectly cooked just add the chimichurri sauce, everything I imagined it would be. Cute Havana ambiance. We ordered pitchers of the red sangria. I would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyI had an amazing Tim for dinner with my family tonight.

The food was amazing and the black beans were out of this world! The wait staff were friendly and attentive. Nice ambiance. Would definitely dine again and recommend to family and friends.

Same day Sat dinner reservations?! Such luck when trying to find a decent meal in Times Square walking distance from our hotel. We arrived a bit early, was seated immediately & our waiter Isaac was top tier, so nice & attentive without being down our throats. Lots of chatter & birthdays going on but the food, drinks & service overpower that. Will be back whenever I'm seeing a Broadway show!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect meal, start to finish.
The service was excellent. Diego especially is an amazing ambassador for the menu. We very wisely shared the 1492 Aperitivo Cubano sampler of appetizers and couldn't decide which was our favorite. The Lechon Asado was exquisitely tender with an amazingly deep and layered flavor. The Ropa Vieja was everything you would want in a restaurant's special dish ... fall-apart tender and simmered in an amazing sherry creole sauce. Hands down this is the best Cuban restaurant we've been to in decades. Do not miss a chance to visit.

First of all, I order chips and gauc and this mf came out with 6 chips on top of gauc for fucking $13. Then I ordered the coconut mojito and that tasting like sunscreen. Almost had to spit it out. Not real Cuban food. I'm from Miami this ain't shit. It's a scam.
