Located on Northern Blvd just outside of one of the 36th St subway exits is Via Caramico, one of several pizza joints in this emerging part of LIC. Many moons ago I would be ordering from here every other week or stopping by for a casual slice while heading out to the subway. I'm not sure what happened in the last few years, but it's become a very average place at best. The shop is fairly small and I don't recall any actual seating. It's primarily a takeout / delivery joint with a particular focus on pizza. Their phone is usually constantly ringing off the hook and there's usually a couple of guys making food and running around. I used to opt for a slice or two for whatever was in the display but later pivoted to more delivery since they were fast.I have to admit, the pizza (sauce, condiments ratio, etc.) has become a bit watered down. I'm not sure if it's pandemic related or new management issues, but it's become fairly obvious with all of their pies. Their specialty pizzas have been the most disappointing, with a lackluster nonna grandma and a very dreadful chicken caesar. When in doubt, go for a plain pie or pepperoni. The rest of the menu is the usual mixes of pastas, strombolis, garlic knots, wings, salads, and sandwiches. I can't say I'm a particular fan of any of them but it's possible I've simply been ordering the wrong stuff all along.Where they err on the positive side is their friendly pricing and for being an actual option in an area with such limited food options. Service can be a hot mess, so another reason to opt for delivery / takeout.
Be the first to ReplyWas working nearby and needed to buy lunch for my team.
Needed something simple and not the hipster sushi ramen typical of the area now. Was pleased to find this unassuming little pizza place walking distance away. Very pleasantly surprised by the excellent pizza quality and the friendly service. Will certainly be back.

Italian restaurant owned by a Bangladeshi ownerDon't like to leave negative review, but the owner was so nice that I had to. While I was there having my meal (which was over priced $11 to 2 pizza slices and a can of soda). I heard the owner speaking to one of his other customer that "I don't eat Indian food, I hate Indian good. They are all bad".Excuse me wasn't India the country who helped you get your Independence from Pakistan when they were forcing there language "Urdu" on to you guys ? Who also butchered 3,000,000 people and raped 1,000,000 women.I felt that the comment made by the owner was very racist. I will not be going back to that establishment ever again. And urge everybody who is reading not to go there.I still don't know the reason for this hatred that he developed for Indians, but that was so messed up. What's funny is that he said his son was studying to be a lawyer and his daughter was doing her MBA. Than why did they not teach him history.

Beyond just pizza, I work in the neighborhood and come here weekly for their specials. Their sandwiches and pastas are amazing. This business went through many owners but I think the right owner has finally taken over. Their pizza is always fresh and they always have a variety of slices to chose from.

I ordered a penne a la vodka and it was delicious!!!! Definitely recommend.

Im not one to complain but after being home all day , not feeling - well .....deciding from hundreds of italian restaurants to order from , I choose this place. I ordered the chicken franchise and for my side I chose pasta and I SPECIFICALLY asked for vodka sauce, but thats not what I got. I got plain pasta AND my soda was missing. Im upset over this because I paid for something and didn't receive it. I understand mistakes happen but if I'm writing I want vodka sauce, why would the pasta come plain? Anyways, the chicken wasn't bad but it wasa little too thick. The sauce on the chicken was decent and I ate the pasta with that since I didn't get the vodka sauce. I don't recommend the service here when It comes too following what customers want in the notes on seamless. Its like they totally ignored what I wrote. Its okay, maybe the in person experience is better !!!!!! Maybe the actual pizza is better !!!!!
Be the first to ReplyNice slice, very nice.
Nice slice, very nice.More yummy pizza brings me great delight!Apologies to Ambrosia, but hey, the pizza in New Yawk sings to me. Lots of places near me in Maryland advertise New York pizza - but even a bad pie in NYC is better than the best pie at home. Via Caramico's pizza is fantastic. Crisp crust, rich sauce, pungent pepperoni; Sicilian or traditional, every slice I tasted was perfect. But don't just listen to me. My granddaughter positively INHALED an entire slice of Sicilian pie. She knows great pizza when she tastes it - and she's only 16 months old.The only negative thing I can say is that I didn't eat here every day. Next time I'm in Queens I will right that wrong!

The brunch is awesome!!! I love the food there and it's quite cheap. This is my first time to this restaurant and everyone is very nice. They patiently recommended some food to me. The flavor is so good that they absolutely deserve five star!

Love this place! I just started working nearby and most of the other dining destinations within walking distance leave much to be desired. The staff here are great, very friendly and courteous. I've tried a few of the different slices and today I got the QDan panini, it is SOOOOOOOO DELICIOUS! It was just what was needed on this hot day, something lightly flavored and filling enough that I don't feel like I had a food baby. I will now definitely venture out of my pizza comfort zone and try more of the other items on the menu. Definitely a gem in this neighborhood. I wish they were in Forest Hills since the closest pizzerias near me are horrible. Keep up the great work, you guys are awesome and your food is delicious.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time I ever came into here to eat.
First the staff members are welcoming. The place is pretty clean and they have a great taste in music. I would highly recommend this little Italian cafe. I had chesse slices of pizza with the garlic knots and the pizza was a perfect texture and the knots were wonderful.
