Great vegetarian food.
Went at opening on a Saturday and noticed there were already a couple of parties waiting to be seated. Very poppin for a vegetarian place! I ordered the spring rolls, egg rolls, bun bo hue and some com Tam dish. Super yummy and will be coming here with my vegetarian relatives.

Be the first to ReplyAfter the longest and sloooowest round of round of golf
After the longest and sloooowest round of round of golf ever played, I was starving! Needing to get back home asap, I was looking for something quick, but then I came across Au Lac. Tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, plant-based restaurant sounded sooo good! As you approach, the windows are tinted and there is no real visible preview of what's to come if you do decide to enter...I love the suspense! Upon entering, I was greeted immediately and welcomed. I was seated in a booth and provided with my very own bootle of chilled water (something I always considered a plus when dining out). I asked my waiter for suggestion which helped me narrow down the following choices:- Egg Rolls (5 out of 5)- Spring Rolls (4 out of 5 - could have had a bit more flavor)- Sweet and Sour Chicken (4 out of 5 - too soupy for my liking, but was flavorful)- Dragon Roll - (3 out of 5 - lacked taste IMO, but the portion was big)- Rainbow In The Sky (4 out of 5 - got better as it began to thaw, but again flavor was great)Overall Experience: 4 out of 5 - I'd definitely return to try other dishes. Stop by and try for yourself!
Be the first to ReplyOkay, my rating here is a little bit conflicting.
I didn't enjoy my visit to Au lac and left feeling conflicted because the experience was horrible but the food was really good. Let me explain. My wife and I decided to come here on a Saturday night for date night. We arrived around 7:30pm and the restaurant was incredibly busy and bustling. There were people standing around in front of the door and people sitting waiting to be seated for dinner, there was no hostess to greet anyone so we weren't sure where to put our name down. After standing around for a few minutes of not being acknowledged my wife was able to locate a clip board where you write down your name and time you arrived and we found some seats to wait so we sat down. The restaurant was a bit warm and stuffy and loud. The wait was maybe 20-25 minutes before we got a table which was fine. We were seated in the extra room they have away from the main dining area. The server came over and took our order pretty quickly but after this everything went down hill. We ordered a ginger tea, bbq pork rolls, seafood soup, green papaya salad, and the crispy seafood noodles. We sat for an incredibly long time waiting for food. We saw tables around us getting their food, even ones that arrived after us. We realized what had happened after watching the servers realize they forgot to bring us our food and some of our food went to other tables. They didn't admit the error but instead said the kitchen was backed up and said the food will be a longer wait. After hearing this we started pulling out our phones and looking to see if there was another vegan place in the area that was open to eat because we just wanted to get out of there, but not long after this the crispy seafood noodles and the green papaya salad came out, so we started eating. Halfway through these dishes they brought out our tea then 20 minutes later they brought our bbq pork appetizer and soup. Everything came out at very different times. When we finally did get a chance to try everything it was fantastic, the food was so fresh and good! But I was still feeling really annoyed at this whole experience. We needed some boxes and the server brought us a bunch of white take our boxes but we had multiple items that were liquidy and we questioned if they would make it home without leaking but we didn't want to wait for other boxes so we packed it up and hoped for the best (it ended up leaking on the way home). I was a little bit annoyed at the way you pay here because you are given a tablet by the server to pay and tip while they are standing over your shoulder watching how much you tip. I always tip no matter what but it just made me uncomfortable to have them hovering watching you tap the tip amount. We just paid and left right away, when we got to the car we checked the time and it was 9:30! We were in there way too long! Overall, it was a sour experience, but they do have some of the best vegan food around. I think if we were to come here again we would have to order for take out. I recommend trying the food but be warned about the service and overall experience.
Be the first to ReplyAu Lac is amazing.
Kevin and Emily are very friendly and make you feel so welcomed. The food is out of this world delicious. It's one of my favorite places to eat. I love there spring rolls, egg rolls, salty mushrooms, seafood soft noodle dish, I can go on and on. Everything I've tried is delicious. I recommend this place 100%.The ambiance is cozy and I just love it.
Be the first to ReplyGood and flavorful food.
However since they are short staff and the restaurant was packed we waited a while to get our bill to leave. Definitely recommend the egg rolls!

What a great experience! What great good! This restaurant is broken down into a vegan kitchen and a raw kitchen - you choose! We went vegan! The chef is a monk who hadn't spoken in years but makes killer dishes in the kitchen. We did the spring rolls that you build at the table and enjoyed tropical green tea with it. The flavors were abundant! The restaurant itself is nothing fancy but it's always busy because the food and service are great. Will definitely return!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service! We had a long day and came in
Excellent food and service! We had a long day and came in at 8:45pm. The waiter and assistant server were both very helpful, accommodating and we did not feel rushed at all. We got the wonton soup, spring rolls, and chicken pho and they were all amazing! The assistant server noticed we were trying to share so he brought us extra bowls and a serving ladle as well. It is so nice to have good service especially at the end of the night. We will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyDiverse menu with vegan and raw vegan fare.
The raw vegan is the star but the cooked dishes are tasty too. Unfortunately the donut holes (also raw vegan and totally amazing, we're eliminated from the menu. It's my understanding the logistics and waste involved did not justify making them. Hopefully one day Chef Ito will share the recipe.
Be the first to ReplyCame here tonight for a birthday dinner, party of 10.
Long story short: 5/5, knocked it out of the park. Let's get into the details.Atmosphere:Cozy and quaint. Not much to say here, but expect a wait during their busy hours. Seating can be limited, but that can be attributed to the popularity of this place. Good lighting, clean interior, cute murals and decor. A blend of class and home style; all at once fancy and, at the same time, warm and welcoming.Service:The staff was very attentive and incredibly accommodating. For a table for ten, not a single wrong order or missing dish, everything was exactly how we ordered, and they made sure to come by to check in on us throughout the dinner. Friendly waiters who really take care of their guests, you can tell that they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable during service. We brought a birthday cake and they were very accommodating with that, as well.Food:We ordered the egg rolls and spring rolls to start. Egg rolls were fried to perfection, the filling was delicious, especially when complemented by the lettuce and mint leaves and dipped in the fish sauce. The spring rolls were great, and the quintessential peanut sauce was the perfect pairing. The pineapple fried rice was so hearty, the perfect balance of sweet and savory, serving as a great centerpiece to the meal. Highly recommended. The green papaya salad was another dish that dances between sweet and savory, with the fruit adding a brightness that elevated the taste buds. For myself, I ordered the Bun #35, a classic dish, and it did not disappoint. Another example of savory and sweet, the vegetables provide light to a comforting bed of noodles, the savory beef and crunchy peanuts playing key roles for your palate, while the fish sauce adds that key sweetness that binds the whole dish to an exquisite combination of flavors and textures. An exceptional experience, highly recommended.

Nice Vietnamese fusion dishes that are served with a smile and a nice vibe. Salads, eggrolls, noodles - all is pretty good. Just takes a while to serve.

Ordered sweet and sour chicken, which I've eaten there for years. Chicken was not battered. Was barely cooked, hard as a rock. Three pieces of pineapple and almost thirty pieces of onion. Was absolutely terrible. I called and she said she would refund me and she didn't.
Be the first to ReplyJust one of my new favorite places in the whole world.
Ordered way too much food - would get everything again. This place is a gem!
Be the first to ReplyCame back for round 2 with the besties.
It's still as good as I remember. Our kiddos love their pho bowls and I am obsessed with their eggrolls.. they are my favorite! We ordered the raw rice dish but I was not a fan. The owner brought us some taw chocolates made from straight caocao.. idk why but it was a mix from tasting like the chocolate cherry bombs usually found in the front of the liquor store and like strong bitter coffee beans, it was not my cup of tea but he was really nice of him.We weren't too hungry and just came from a bbq not too long ago but every now and then just crave this plc.

Flavors are great, but prices have "vegan tax" ie they are bit expensive, hence the 4 star rating instead of 5 stars.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food.
I am not vegan or vegetarian but will come back to Au Lac very soon to try more dishes. Tasty!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is so good.
I first tried this place several years ago & was amazed of how good vegan food could be. My mom, who is pretty picky about what she likes, was also amazed on how fragrant/delicious the soup broths could be. Now, I'm not going to lie that the food is a bit pricey, but I think it's worth every penny. The servers are so kind and friendly, which is a big deal breaker for me. If you never tried this place, I highly recommend the s&p shrimp & the grilled long fish. It's immaculate!

Great place to bring a loved one to celebrate their birthday! They will make you feel special. The staff is amazing, all their recommendations were spot on, which probably just means ALL the food is delicious! I had the pineapple fried rice, ginger kombucha and the Tirawmisu. Delicious food and great service!
Be the first to ReplyNice but not amazing.
The salt and pepper shrimp were too realistic for me (I was never a shrimp fan). The crispy fish wraps were great. The fish hotpot with eggplant was too salty. The Choconut ecstasy dessert was awesome. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices are very reasonable. Having said all that, I prefer "wheel of life" in Irvine.

Be the first to ReplyFountain Valley, CASettling in with a 4 star average for
Fountain Valley, CASettling in with a 4 star average for now with quite a few more visits. After having such stellar first two visits to this location in January 2022, we have returned a handful of times since. I still really like this Vietnamese plant based/vegan restaurant and appreciate what they are doing. While some menu items are enjoyed as favorites and remain fairly consistent, there have been quite a few very average items on each order since our first two visits. We have found that the menu items can either be really good (like some of our repeatedly ordered favorites) to pretty average. We still really enjoy:egg rolls, BBQ Pork Rolls (Nem Nuong)Sweet and Spicy Tofu with black riceA newly tried item:Papaya Salad 4 stars I would ask for dressing on the side if I ordered this again since there was a pool of dressing on the bottom of the large bowl, and the dressing was pretty sweet, my verdict is out on the "beef jerky" which topped this salad. I enjoyed this salad overall after I asked for a bowl to transfer the salad into so it would not be drenched with the liquid dressing. These are items we would not order again:Royal Noodle Soup 3.25 starsmissing ingredients as listed on the menu (no cabbage, no bean sprouts), just OK. The waitress did not know what one of the protein ingredients in this soup was, even though it was listed on the menu which we pointed to when ordering, and she failed to put in our our order with the protein item we requested it to be left out.Chow Fun 3 starsMai Salad 2 starsdressing had no taste of teriyaki or plum sauce as listed on the menu, ingredients listed are not quite accurate to what is received. There was little to no spring mix, (no dark green leaf), not enjoyable, and over $14 for a very small bowl As much as I really do like this restaurant and concept, it is hard to justify paying for items that are just OK. I understand if there is an item here or there that we don't enjoy, but every visit after our first few visits we have ordered an item that we don't care for, even though it sounds good as written on the menu. I am sure there are more great items we just have not discovered yet but it might be best to stick with what we know are wins.
