Definitively worth it ! Food was great, be sure to call and book a table in the evening it becomes quite crowded. Excellent horse sausage ! Good service. The only challenge... a little tricky to find a parking nearby.
Great food and ambience
Well patronised restaurant. Friendly and helpful wait staff. Thoroughly enjoyed puréed fava beans, the broccolini pasta and meatballs and herb salad. Can recommend.

Recommended by the great "Franchino the criminal" who never makes mistakes. 2 starters, onion tarts and Roman tripe, both really good 2 carbinara with 10 cum laude 1 good tiramisu.su 1 dessert, their particular carasau bread wafer with chocolate mousse, rosemary, extra virgin olive oil and salt... really good Bloody fabulous bread, not to be underestimated for the shoes,) 2 beers 2 coffees 2 water Total 80 euros

Trattoria that feels a little classy. If he's playing around a little, the less I feed you and the more I make you pay because that's in fashion now. Very welcome soft lights, nice, small and welcoming place with friendly, polite, professional and fast staff. Dried tomato sauce offered to spread on bread, the gesture was appreciated but really not very good. Good firsts. Good seconds, but when you're done you're still hungry. Very little sheep hunter and I also had to get the fried sweetbreads because I was very hungry and those were really good. The food is good overall, but when you go out you are still hungry and not only me, but also the two people who were with me. Everyone agrees that they ate well, little, and above all spent a lot. The prices are a little higher in my opinion. I don't think we will return

I went to this restaurant today for lunch with a friend, and I absolutely have to share the fantastic experience! We chose this restaurant a bit by chance, we were in the Ostiense area and searching on the web we found this place. The place has a very welcoming atmosphere, with tables both inside and outside. The waiters are very good, they present themselves very well, with neat and clean aprons, they are very professional and polite, very knowledgeable about the menu and obviously smiling and kind, in short, I already liked the welcome a lot. The menu has few but really interesting choices, there are both traditional dishes and innovative dishes, as well as some off-menu choices. Before starting we were brought a small welcome gift, very welcome and above all delicious, and they immediately brought us drinks. The water is filtered drinkable, so in addition to costing very little compared to other restaurants (€1.50 for a large bottle), it is also an ecological choice. As an appetizer we shared an onion tart with mixed salad and goat's robiola. The portion wasn't huge but we still managed to share it without any problems. What can I say, truly particular but totally successful combinations. The contrast between flavours, textures and temperatures was really interesting and showed great skill on the part of the chef, it felt like eating a gourmet restaurant dish. As the main course I took a carbonara, while my friend took the cod with crushed chickpeas, which was actually among the appetizers, and potatoes as a side dish. Carbonara isn't actually one of my favorite dishes, but being in Rome I wanted to stay traditional, and living here recently I still missed tasting real carbonara, especially the one made with short pasta. What can I say, the pasta was nice and thick and not overcooked, as I like it, the cream was abundant but not annoying, the bacon was crunchy and tasty, the pecorino and pepper were perfectly balanced. The whole dish was balanced and really tasty, I liked it a lot. Here too, the portion is neither large nor small, but certainly rich. But let's move on to the highlight of lunch, the dessert. Having been intrigued by the chocolate mousse with carasau bread, oil, salt and rosemary, I decided to try this strange combination. Surprising, not only was it delicious, but it was so successful and balanced that it made me wonder why we don't usually put oil and salt on chocolate. It wasn't forced at all. The mousse was already perfect, it really tasted like good chocolate, the consistency was perfect and I must say that in this case the portion was also quite generous. The grains of salt and the oil, obviously of excellent quality, went really well with this already delicious mousse, and the carasau bread once again created that truly interesting play of textures. The rosemary was present but without standing out. An absolutely must-try dessert! In summary I can say that we perceived an excellent quality of the raw materials, as well as an enormous ability to combine apparently different flavors. The games of textures and flavor contrasts are truly super successful. There are many good trattorias around, but it is the first choice ingredients that make good food exceptional, and for me this trattoria is exceptional. Lastly, I cannot fail to mention the fact that after asking for the bill we were also offered bitters, which doesn't often happen in trattorias, in fact we really enjoyed the offer. Overall for the onion tart, the cod, the potatoes, the carbonara, the dessert, two coffees and two bottles of water we spent €54, very little for what we ate. I don't think they made us pay the cover charge. I will definitely return to this restaurant, curious to try all the other dishes on the menu.
A Trattoria that tastes like a chef
The neighborhood is Roman and this trattoria with its dishes is in tune with the area. But it is not the usual Osteria where you smell rancid mixed with the perfume of the ladies, with the usual dishes and the usual cheap jewels. This is a nice place where you can eat traditional dishes revisited by the chef in an emotional way. For example, tripe with anchovy sauce is not a mistake, but it means knowing how to find the magical balance that our palate needs. Young and friendly staff, pleasant environment for lunch and dinner. Stocked wine bar and fun wines.

Everything excellent and fair prices. I particularly recommend the pici and for dessert the chocolate mousse with olive oil and rosemary.
The wait is worth it
Found through recommendations on Youtube, it did not disappoint expectations, excellent food, friendly and precise service and a reasonable price. We had to wait until 2.30pm because we called at the last minute so they were rightly very busy.. Amazing Rigatoni with Pajata!

WOW. WOW. WOW! Do not miss this restaurant! My husband researched restaurants for months leading up to our visit to Italy. Trattoria Pennestri was at the very top of our list & it did not disappoint! The restaurant is quaint, I'd say 12-15 tables, FILLED with local Romans, just off work, ready for a laugh, a great wine & tasty bite. The waiter informed us that the menu changes seasonally. We ordered the onion tart, Cacio e Pepe & Amatriciana. The onion tart knocked our socks off! I asked our waiter for lessons! The cacio e pepe was the best I had in our entire visit. The Amatriciana made me husband a believer! We both went home with full bellies! Cannot recommend this place enough! Go & let me know what you end up ordering!

We tried to get in this place the evening before, with no luck as it was completely booked solid. Made a reservation for the following night at 9 PM which was not ideal for us. A rainy night in Rome made it a little muggy on the restaurant but not unbearable. We were greeted warmly and sat in the middle of the place at a table for two. It's a fairly small place which sells out most nights and has loyal following. Our food was quite good, although lacking a bit on the seasoning side for our tastes. The service is very good overall, but they do tend to leave you alone once the plates have been dropped. We don't care for a fair amount of attention, but a "how's everything" would be nice. The onion tart was very pleasing to look at, and tasted very nice, although the crust was a bit clunky and thick. The ricotta was divine and really made the dish. The small flower looked great, and really added a taste dimension that you wouldn't have thought would be there. The handmade pasta was a little el dente for the lovely K, but I thought it was mere seconds from being excellent. Again the ricotta was spectacular, we have to start perfecting at home. The chicken ala porchetta was quite good, although a little chewy in spots. Sadly I missed the opportunity to add a photo until it was basically done. We shared each dish, and they were kind enough to split each one and plate them separately which you don't often get. The bread was the highlight for us, which is not a bad thing at all in our books, again we just have to master making this at home. Overall we were pleased with our meal, and the service at this great place, it just missed the mark a little bit for a five star review.

Think of a leisurely three hour dinner, where every dish just delights the senses. Definitely get the chocolate mousse is dessert and don't be shy to ask the kitchen to make any classic pasta you might be interested in. The service is top notch and makes all the difference. Never felt rush, perfect wine pairing, and fresh ingredients. It's in a bit of an area outside of the main neighborhoods visitors are likely to stay but worth the trip.

Outstanding food, wonderful ambience, excellent service all at a very reasonable price. The best meal I've had in my vacation in Rome thus far. This is a "Slow Food" restaurant meaning all ingredients are locally sourced and fresh and the owners are dedicated to preserving authentic Roman/local cuisine. The eggplant caponata and rabbit with mixed vegetables were both delicious. The roast duck was perfect, cooked medium rare, and paired nicely with the wine suggested. The tripe was a daily special and THE best tripe I've ever eaten. (I guarantee that even if tripe is not your thing, you would like this!) The pastas were all delicious and perfect. The waitstaff were all very attentive asking how we liked their food without being annoying. I will definitely come back and highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to anyone visiting Rome!
