While, visiting Washington DC I wanted to find a place to bring my grandchildren for our last night. I wanted to show them a unique restaurant. This was definitely the place for the unique and delicious part of the restaurant. The website said that the food was served family style. I assumed that would mean that families would fit in. First of all the restaurant is nearly hidden in the back of the Blagdon alley. But it's a really cool alley with lots of cool spots! The restaurant posted of several Michelin stars and the food was great. I would not say it's a place to bring children. However, our waiter/bartender, Jack, never let on that it was probably not the best place for children and he served up Shirley Temples along with my cocktails. We had the last duck serving of the night some fried rice and several appetizers. I did not know what the Jah Leung was but Jack recommended it; it was so good. We ordered a second one. The fried rice had pork and shrimp. I'm allergic to shrimp, so I was just going to avoid it. However, Jack said no problem they would add the shrimp on the side. I would go back again there in a heartbeat, but not with children. It's definitely a happening place for adults in downtown. Washington DC. It was loud and crowded and absolutely a great experience. if you're in the area, I highly recommend at least a cocktail and some Jah Leung.

I still think this place slides under the radar for modernized Asian food. I went here for Chinese new year celebrations and sat at the bar. It was so fun and I really loved the lion dance. The menu wasn't as extensive as I had remembered - still very good though. Wish there were more choices.

Tiger Fork is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a lively and cozy ambiance that sets the perfect tone for the evening. Let's talk about the food - the fish bao buns are simply incredible. Bursting with flavor and expertly crafted, they're a true standout on the menu. And paired with their fantastic cocktails, it's a match made in heaven. Speaking of cocktails, Tiger Fork doesn't disappoint in that department either. Each drink is carefully crafted and deliciously satisfying, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to your dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I can't recommend Tiger Fork enough.

Such a cool restaurant with excellent food! The crispy pork belly was amazing, fantastic texture. And I loved the green dipping sauce. The skin was on the salty side, but that was tempered by the sauce. I also loved the brisket chow fun. It was extremely flavorful with an excellent touch of umami. I'll definitely be back, probably for their excellent happy hour! The cocktails looked amazing.

Tucked away in Blagden Alley, this place was packed and our reservation was at 10 pm which is a testament to how popular it is. The decor was fun and the food was yummy! For how small the menu was, there were a decent amount of vegetarian options which I appreciated. We got the roasted mixed mushroom chow fun which was delicious! We also got the fried tofu and bok choy fried rice which lacked a bit of flavor but was still good.

Last night my partner and I dined here to celebrate his birthday and the experience was *mostly* fantastic. We didn't have a reservation but luckily the manager, I think, was able to get us a table. The food and drinks were delicious, had a great atmosphere, service was exceptional. However, we did have a less than professional encounter with the hostess as we were leaving which is why I'm writing this review in the first place. We opened the door and noticed it was raining, stood there for a minute to decide what to do, and then stepped back inside. We looked at at the hostess and she had her arms crossed (I guess because of the breeze, fair) but she was making a "shooing" motion. We said "Sorry?" And she said "Just leave!" and because we thought we heard her incorrectly, again asked "Excuse me?" to which she said "JUST LEAVE" again, with the shooing motion, and then walked away from the hostess stand to stand up against the wall with an angry look on her face. We considered asking for a manager but ended up leaving because we felt unwelcome at that point, and honestly kinda shocked. It was just a bit bizarre. Like I said, overall the experience was really great and I would be open to going back. I've just never had anything like that happen to me before, especially at an upscale restaurant... and it was still bothering me today.
Be the first to ReplyGreat for sharing plates with a few people.
Inside had a really cool industrial vibe mixed with Chinese decor - felt kinda hipster. Our favorite dish was the Peach Pork Moo Shu.

We came here on a Wednesday evening and it was bumping! It was my first time dining in Tiger Fork and my partner's first time in the restaurant, though they ordered previously during COVID. We loved our time here. Our service was great, with a super friendly and attentive staff. The cocktails were unique and also not sweet, which we loved. The Bird Market and Peruvian Chef were standouts. Food wise, hands down the wontons and dumplings were amazing starters. The beef brisket was equally incredible. We are looking forward to making this a regular spot in our restaurant rotation.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was packed and I have no idea why.
Service was passable, but the food and drinks were really lacking in flavor and execution. My dining companion and I both thought we might have had COVID for a second it was so bland! We each had a signature cocktail - hers was the mezcal with various ingredients that ended up tasting like almost nothing. I had a gin drink with a large number of herbs, which just ended up tasting like baby aspirin. We started with the cucumber salad, which was tasty enough, but nothing to write home about. The mushroom chow fun, though, was greasy and flavorless - we had to ask for soy just to make the noodles taste like something. And then the duck ... It took forever (but we were given a comped drink for the delay). After such a long wait, we thought we were getting a full duck, but it was just a breast. The fat wasn't properly rendered, but it was a decent medium rare. It has very little flavor and was in a hoisin sauce that hadn't been reduced properly, so it came out bitter. The pancakes served with the duck were inexplicably cut in half. All in all, a pretty forgettable experience and I wouldn't go back.
Be the first to ReplyService was superb/Very professional.
Our favorite dishes were the Chicken Dan Dan, the Char Siu and Green beans (nicely sized portion). We also had the mushroom and broccoli dumplings (they were good, but we ordered a second order mainly because there were not many options for our non-red-meat-eating friend and both desserts (both very good). They have a nice choice of sakes -liked the sparkling and unfiltered sakes. The room is lovely and ambience is special enough for guests/out-of-towners.
Be the first to ReplyCannot recommend this spot enough.
Food is phenomenal, service is excellent and the ambiance is upbeat and welcoming.
Be the first to ReplyLovely new spot with a wonderful ambiance and food.
We came during the evening on a weekday and were promptly seated. The staff were very attentive and did a great job answering any questions we had about the menu.
Be the first to ReplyThe most overrated Asian fusion food I've ever had.
Go literally anywhere else. Char Siu was so tough I couldn't bite into it.

Overall, really great food, a nice vibe inside, and attentive service. The monkey king bread for dessert was INCREDIBLE -- I would go back just for that alone. The combo fried rice was delicious as well, and the peach pork moo shu appetizer was great. The curry crab buns were good, but a bit too much bun to meat ratio and the curry overwhelmed the crab a bit. The Chinese s'mores were good (mostly ice cream based though), but didn't hold a candle to the monkey king bread. The drinks were a bit underwhelming given how small they were for $15 each (photos make them look bigger, but they come in tiny glasses and you get just a couple sips before they're gone). The Peruvian chef in a Chinese kitchen was also very heavy on the midori taste, but good. Knocked down to 4 stars for the drinks and how expensive everything was. For $75 each (for 3 people): 1 drink each, 2 appetizers to share, 2 entrees to share, and 2 desserts to share.

I have been to Tiger Fork a few times and have loved each and every one! While there is a dining room that does take reservations, I have always snagged a seat at the bar. One Saturday night I did struggle to get a seat, but outside of that I have always been able to grab 2-3 seats at the bar for friends and I. Drinks: They have an excellent cocktail menu, but my favorite is the 8 O'clock light show, also known as fatigue. The smoky cinnamon adds the best flavor AND it looks really cool!Food: I love the combo fried rice and get it every time I visit. I'm not used to having sausage in my fried rice but TK does it really well. I'm also a big fan of the greens beans (simple but flavorful), Char Siu Plate, and the Chilled Dan Dan noodles. There are different menus depending on what time of the day you go, but I believe these menu options are always available. I do like that the menu isn't too big though and that they dishes they do serve are all prepared to perfection!Service: Those bartenders are great! I never grab their names but they've always been helpful and really good and making drinks.5 stars every time I visit!

Where were you last Friday night? I was kicking off my weekend in DC with friends at Tiger Fork. I'd been craving good Hong Kong food for a while. I also wanted a cute and affordable restaurant to serve as the backdrop for my dinner with friends. The solution? Tiger Fork. We arrived wondrously and brutally there after making our Uber driver take us all the way down the narrow corridors of Blagden Alley and getting them to drop us off right at the front door. Upon entering under the neon sign, we were greeted with a packed restaurant and bar. Surrounded by tables of yo-pros, we loaded up on carby Jah Leung and Chow Fun which would later soak up the Salazar tequila that would be liberally drunken that night. The restaurant is nicely decorated-- dare I say sexy. The food was good but not amazing, and the cocktails we tried were unique. My best friend captured a part of my experience at Tiger Fork best-- "my grandma can make me these dishes [for much cheaper]". Will I pay to fly all the way to China to have my grandma make me these dishes? No. But if I'm craving it maybe I'll pay the extra five dollars, after factoring inflation, to enjoy it at Tiger Fork.

I walked in and was immediately hit with the scent of sesame oil and caught the flare of the wok flame out of the corner of my eye and got excited. I had to do a double take in front of the restaurant to make sure I was in the right place but the decor inside is really nice. The house cocktails all have a medicinal property and we both got the anxiety drinks which were delicious though expensive and we couldn't detect much alcohol in them. The food was delicious! We got green beans which was a huge portion and showered with lots of crispy shallots. The chicken dan dan noodles were a nice twist on the classic but I wish the noodles had a little more bite. Lastly we had the mushroom and broccoli dumplings which were just okay, but had a yummy sauce.Service was the perfect amount of attentive. I would love to come back and sit at the counter and watch the kitchen!

Thank you Morgan, food was great but your service is what it made it. Definitely would recommend and will be most definitely be back.

The food was amazing especially the curry crab bao. Service was outstanding. Definitely get a reservation.
Be the first to ReplyI wasn't sure I was in the right place while I was walking
I wasn't sure I was in the right place while I was walking down the alley, but in google I trust...!Love the ambiance when I walked in-- large circular bar that can probably seat about 30 people!Food is tasty and shareable! We loved the chicken dan dan noodles, green beans (it's huge!) and the crab buns. My drink was interesting... kind of reminded me a little of cough syrup, but I powered through it. My friend had a gin drink that was alright. Definitely will come back again to try more of the menu :)
Be the first to ReplyCame here for dinner before a show.
First - love the space. There weren't any tables available but the bar is first come first serve and it seats about 25 or so folks which is sizable. For cocktails I ordered the FILTH - a gin drink which was good. My friend order the Ship of Fools with bourbon, strawberry and black magic (balsamic syrup, vanilla and sugar). She said it tasted like cough syrup :/My friend and I split three of the starters and sides which surprisingly was plenty -- we got the chicken Dan Dan noodles; the crab buns and the green beans. The greens beans are a BIG portion and they did not skimp on the fried shallots. I had three or four helpings and there was plenty left - no way we were going to finish them. My favorite were the Dan Dan noodles bc of the spice on the chicken (make sure to mix everything so the sauce coats every bite). The crab buns weren't as flavorful as I had hoped. Maybe the bun to filling ratio was off? All in all, a good meal and a good spot.

Was excited to try this place after seeing pictures/reviews online. Came here for a special anniversary. The decor was nice, on par with fancier DC restaurants. Service was ok.Got our food pretty quickly, no complaints. Food was meh. Green beans were bland, fried rice was really sweet , dumplings were unremarkable. It was expensive for the quality. I don't mind paying for good food, but this was so unimpressive. My favorite part of this experience was the decor.

As someone who has grown up devouring these dishes from small Chinatown shops and bustling night markets, it was fun to try Tiger Fork's trendy take on them. And it didn't disappoint. The mapo tofu and pan fried noodle dishes were flavorful and hit me with a decent burst of spice that's enjoyable even for the faint of heart (like myself). The Jah Leung was so tasty to bite into, and that's saying a lot coming from me-someone who absolutely LOVES jah leung and ate a concerning amount of it as a child (but has struggled to find this dish in her DC adulthood)! Tiger Fork is a great place for someone well acquainted with these foods but also a great place for someone looking to get to know them. So book yourself a table! Just remember though, in this cutthroat DC dining scene, you'll have to book a table about three weeks out
Be the first to ReplyPretty high quality Asian food.
I got the Bird Market as a cocktail and it was a really unique drink that included herbal Chinese medicine. You definitely get a kick of the herbal but it was a very small drink for the price you pay. Also got the mango mantou buns and the cold dan dan noodles. The buns were warm and fresh but extremely thick for my preference. The cold dan dan noodles had a good peanut kick but the noodles definitely got overwhelmed by the sauce. The fresh noodles were delicious! This is a good restaurant to hit up if you want a fun environment and to try to some unique takes on classic Asian dishes. I think I'd prefer more comfort style food but this is still a fun experience to try!
