Always excellent food and service.
Great for every day dining or special occasions. When music is playing best to sit in back room for easier conversation.

...did not disappoint. Great old historical building, full of charm. Extensive menu, do not pass up the table side prepared from scratch Caesar Salad. Creative entrees, served by our world class waiter, Joe. Throw in the live entertainment and you have a first class evening out.

He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and made a great evening fantastic!

Just had another great meal at 76 house! Our waiter, Joe was attentive and pleasant. We ordered the Caesar salad which he made table side and it was the real deal.We also got Sheppard's pie, crab cakes, grilled chicken sandwich, and a burger.Would recommend each and every one of these dishes!Atmosphere is fantastic for colonial history buffs.

The food, service and the entertainment was great. Orders came out for everyone at the same time. Love the history when your there you feel like you are back in time, you can ask questions the owner and staff know the history which my family loved. The staff is very friendly and the kitchen was able to to accommodate a request my husband ask for on his meal. My husband and I have been going for years and will continue to go.

Food was great, service was prompt, waiter was great and the atmosphere was lovely. On the pricey side but worth it for a special occasion.

I had dinner here and I am usually a frequent visitor with family or with my job. I was part of a dinner party with a pre-chosen menu. The restaurant was made aware someone in the family had food allergies and would be specific about them. Everything that was brought out, I asked what was in it or if it contained nuts.I had the Chinois Salad, but told them no cashews or ginger dressing because of my allergies. So they bring out a Chinois salad with balsamic dressing instead. As I'm eating it, I find cashews in the salad. I brought it to the attention of the waitress who said "oh I thought I got them all out". That made me stop. Food service industry should know how to serve food properly to those that need accommodations. Taking the nuts off the salad is still dangerous as its now cross-contaminated. My salad should have been prepared separately away from nuts or nut products...not thrown on a plate and the nuts picked out.Thank goodness the epi-pens didn't have to be used, but the anxiety over eating anything greatly increased. I ask for you to better train your restaurant staff - kitchen and wait staff about the dangers of this. They need to know how to handle food allergy preparation.

We found parking in the parking lot, we were quickly seated with reservations made, the service was great, and the food was delicious and filling, the atmosphere was very nice Lille going back in time with live jazz music playing. Our table felt like it was about to collapse unlike an old sturdy wooden tables made by hand to last forever.

easily the most unique dining experience in our area! where else can you get history lessons, ghost stories and an amazing meal all in one spot?! we had the pleasure of being served by joe & laura who are amazing friendly and so so kind. the owner, robert, was full of historical knowledge and took ample time to chat with us and the rest of the patrons which made the experience so special. an absolute must-try -- we are repeat customers and leave happy each and every time. thanks guys!!
Be the first to ReplyThis place was simply amazing.
Not only is the history fascinating, but the staff and owner were incredibly gracious. The owner gave us a tour of the place and even gifted our handicapped daughter a present to make her smile (she has cerebral palsy). We drove all the way from Virginia just to eat here, and we are so thankful we did. The food was superb and the atmosphere was just as we hoped. Wonderful experience from beginning to end! Make sure to read the history of this place before you go--it's remarkable
Be the first to ReplyPlace was really amazing.
Those thanksgiving egg rolls are one of the best things ever. I had a terrific chopped salad that I added salmon to. Amazing history and great food. On the pricey side but you get a museum experience along with your meal
Be the first to ReplyDon't ever go here.
Huge mistake and total embarrassment as host of special family occasion. Place is dirty and neglected. Staff awkward and unprofessional. Food is processed and clumsy. Nothing fresh. Charging NYC prices - just about fell off my chair when the bill arrived. Such a shame.
Be the first to ReplyWe enjoyed a very good meal.
..all 4 of us had different appetizers and main courses and agreed the food was very good. The live music was a welcome addition...not too loud and the song selection was perfect. Joe was an excellent waiter...very attentive and personable. food was hot and fresh. I would definitely recommend this restaurant....both for the food experience and the historical background.

Be the first to Replyvery cool historical tavern with great food.
we've been coming here a few years now and we haven't ever had a bad meal. drinks from the bar are delicious and service is excellent. i would consider this place more of a fancy restaurant than a tavern. my only complaint is the live music, which totally brings this place down a notch. the music they have is what you would expect at bar or tavern and it just doesnt match the vibe in the rest of the restaurant. plus they have someone scheduled EVERY night. the only way i go here now is if i get there around 5 or 530 and leave before it starts. it's a shame. the food is really delicious and we had a great time during our last visit. they do have a piano in the restaurant.....maybe hire someone to play some classy background music while people eat? could be a hit!
Be the first to ReplyFood is underwhelming but we didn't come here for that.
.. staff are friendly enough but it's more hype than quality. We came for the historical aspect of the building itself - and to see where Major Andre was imprisoned- and found that the inner rooms are full of history and many interesting items on the walls to show the significance of the place. Sunday brunch was overpriced however for what turned out to be a bland pre-prepped serving - and my eggs (Arnold Benedict ) were cold but I didn't mind too much. Don't think I'll return for the food anytime soon, but might come back to give the jazz sessions at the bar a try one evening-
Be the first to ReplyWe had 3 appetizers.
They were amazing. The history of this place is incredible. Every nook and cranny is packet with character. My duck couldn't have been more perfect.
Be the first to ReplyI have been to this establishment several times throughout
I have been to this establishment several times throughout the years. Their food is always fresh and delicious. The brunch buffet is filled with delicious yummy things like French toast, bacon, sausage, eggs and then you move to the other side of the buffet and you'll find yourself surrounded with things like poached salmon, Yankee pot roast, and a wide variety of salads and much more. So then why four stars, well I'll tell you... we went for Easter this year and although we are at the tail end of a pandemic I found myself packed into a restaurant that was way over capacity. The waiting area for your table and the line for the buffet merge together. I felt the need to apologize to people waiting on line for the buffet as I had to cut the line in order to get to the bathroom. I understand that the last two years has been very hard on all establishments and they want to make the most out of the day, but it was very hard to maneuver and by the time you waited online to get your food the rest of your party who was sitting at your table was done eating. I will go back but probably not on a holiday.

I called and asked if there was going to be a band on by specific name I was told yes. When I arrived that person was not on stage and she said he would be. I stayed and ate dinner. The drinks were water down. I can't tell you anything was good and appetizer and or the dinners that were served. Although the service was good the food leaves something to be thought about. It amazes me that they draw the crowds if they do end of food in my belief is below par. They really should work on the rest but recipes and their seasoning was terrible.

Celebrated a wedding brunch for my son and his beautiful bride on Sunday afternoon. We were a party of nine and had a special needs young man with us. Laura gave us phenomenal service!!!! Our glasses were never empty. Whatever we requested was brought promptly and she made our entire party feel welcome and valued. She was patient with our young man even taking time out to talk to him. Laura gave us the best service I have experienced in years. If you go to to the 76 House request Laura. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Laura

A sub-satisfactory lunch, a $4 surcharge on the bill, and a guy whom I presume to be the owner of the place, marching around in his Village People leather pants. The $4 came out of the waiter's tip, but how do you unsee a 60+ year old in leather trousers prancing around?

Our family just held a bridal shower at '76 House and we couldn't be happier. The folks at '76 House know what they're doing and they do it well. We had ample time to set up and decorate the room. The staff helped when we asked for suggestions, after all, they've seen many events in these rooms. The food was delicious and served in an organized manner. Champagne, Mimosas and soft drinks were included and the glasses were never left empty. The owner/manager popped in a few times to see how things were going. Such a friendly staff. Oh, and there was live music in another section--Dawn Melody--singing, and that was a nice bonus. Not too loud, but just right. It added a nice vibe to the event. Relaxed and fun. The bottom line is that this event went really well and many thanks go to the folks at '76 house--in every way, they did a terrific job. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyProbably one of the best dining experiences in a long time.
Loved the history of the building and atmosphere. The food was totally amazing, as well as the drinks. Pot Roast was off the charts great. Also have to mention the staff. Our server was so pleasant & the owner spent some time talking to us about the history. Can't wait to go back. Definitely 5 star rating. Cheers !
