The Mustard Seed Restaurant Inverness Reviews from The Last Year
Great food, great service and excellent value for money.
We had dinner with choices from menu and specials board, all excellently prepared, seasoned and served. Attentive service throughout meal, not too rushed and always available. Have now been a number of times and each time not been disappointed. You need to book though, as we saw a number of walk-ins being turned away.
Special find in Inverness
We were so lucky to get the last lunchtime walk-in here. Staff super-friendly and welcoming, the decor and atmosphere is lovely and the food was delicious and great value for money on the lunch deal. Highlight for me was the pineapple and cucumber salad - don’t knock it til you’ve tried it! Homemade pasta was great, as was the seafood and really every mouthful. Highly recommend, but book if you can, lest the cruise ship crowds get in first! Thanks for a lovely lunch, the cherry on the cake for our visit to beautiful Inverness.
Nice spot for dinner
The Mustard Seed is a nice spot for dinner. It was a quick walk from the Inverness train station. The items we ended up chosing were okay but nothing really special. However, the ambiance and convenience of the restaurant made up for the average meal.
Quality food and great service.
First visit and certainly not last visit. Very impressed with the quality of the food and in particular the attentive service. I had the ribeye steak and it was perfection. Unusual with it being on a bed of vegetables and topped by a breadcrumbed black pudding. The sauce was excellent also. My wife had the chicken dish. Such a big portion I had to gratefully assist finishing it. Waitress was incredibly busy, but always available when needed.
Fabulous restaurant by the river
Fantastic 2 course lunch on a busy Saturday. Always a lovely welcome when I visit and looked after by friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food, wine and cocktails and great buzz in the restaurant. Look forward to our next visit 💛
Great Food. Great Value
We went here after being told about it by our tour guide and we were not disappointed! The food was lovely and very reasonably priced. Everything was cooked well. There was a good wine list and we loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Don't have anything bad to say about it! The lunch menu was great value also!
Service adequate, facility tidy, food mediocre.
Nothing bad happened, its just not delicious especially given the price point so I would not recommend.
Disappointing
The manager said she needed the table back within an hr . This was fine by us . We only ordered main course and it took a while to come resulting in only 10 mins to eat . I asked for a carry out box but the server never came back . The food was very under seasoned , no one came near us to check anything. Staff were grumpy and not very well mannered. Dif wouldn’t go back
Lovely food at a good price
Had a fantastic lunch here on recommendation from our tour guide. Lovely food. Quirky building and really reasonable prices. We loved it.
Lunch on the Ness River
Excellent two course lunch with family overlooking the Ness River. The sea bass, pasta and steak entrees were all perfect. And the dessert, the vanilla and Orkney fudge cheesecake, was absolutely delicious. The ambience was charming and the service prompt and courteous.
Best food & service in Scotland!
Absolutely superb food. Our group of 6 travelled throughout Scotland for 3 weeks and this was our standout best meal. The service was also outstanding. Nothing to fault. Don't pass up the opportunity!
Just arrived as a North American traveller.
Saw their profile online and booked a reso well in advance. Great location on the water, nice building and interior. Warmer than average weather, and they had their patio doors open to keep it nice and cool inside. Specials were excellent and we ordered a lemon sole (£27) as well as the tortellini (£22). Ordered the halloumi fries (£10) to share as an appetizer. Ordered a bottle of wine (which they didn't have, so went with a solid second choice at a decent price (£30) Shared a dark chocolate caramel tart (£9) with ice cream that was wonderful. Tasty all around and would recommend the food all day long. Cons: busy night, so slow service - 15 minutes after being sat, we finally had service, placed all food and Bev orders as well as water. Appetizer arrived before the water and wine. Not that it's necessary, but no one checked in other than to deliver the food. Wine, dessert, tea, water done, no sign of service, had to ask after 30 minutes of waiting to get the cheque, which unlike many of the places we have been here in UK had a tip option (but no ingrained service charge) Food 5 stars, service 2 stars. Would recommend, but ensure that you have both reservations and no plans afterwards.
The service was good but we felt rushed.
we were drinking our cocktails and 3 different people came by to ask if we were ready to order yet (in less than 10 minutes). this place is not cheap and i understand table turnover but the whole meal seemed rushed. I enjoyed the food but the beef was over cooked and tough. Haggis was good. Overall, it was very good but i can't give it 5 stars

Great service - amazing specials- gin was very tasty with many options. Wonderful view of the river! Best meal of our time in Scotland!
First day in Inverness and we found this restaurant.
We were able to get in as someone cancelled. We got the early dinner menu for under 20 pounds for 2 courses. We got the mackerel and salmon pate and Gorgonzola bruschetta. Bruschetta was a bit bready but the pate was very good. For the entree we got the steak and sea bass. Both were good and decent portions for the price. It was a bit quiet as we were early but it did get a bit noisy when larger groups arrived.

Came here with a large group of golfers all of whom are wine snobs. Great wine list with great value, food was fantastic. I had the lamb rump special and it was delicious and cooked perfectly. Wonderful ambiance and the service was fast, responsive and unobtrusive. The perfect mix. Highly recommend

Beautiful location with view of the river, restaurant is charming, nice selection of drinks and wines. Lunch menu had limited vegetarian options though. Cauliflower steaks were very good, saffron pasta with vegetables was average. Our server disappeared after we got our food, we were offered dessert but after we declined the one vegan option, we waited for at least half an hour for the bill. We finally had to leave, found the server downstairs eating her meal, she left her meal to check us out at the front. Just not the great experience we were led to expect from many previous reviews
The service was great even with a large group of ten.
Everyone enjoyed their food. The atmosphere was enjoyable and the lovely woman who welcomed and took our orders was delightful.

Walking along the Ness river in Inverness city center came along this restaurant. Checked the menu and made reservation for lunch the next day. We came earlier than our reserved time and they were able to accommodate us. Very friendly staff and service were great. Good food and nice ambiance. Highly recommended.
Every plate was fantastic.
The salad very refresh me before the main. Venison and monkfish were cooked very perfect. The cheesecake is awesome. Service and environment is great.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
