What a great experience! It's a 6 course tasting menu.
You don't know what you're getting until each course is brought out, or if you're super nosey and listen to what someone else got across the room. also got the wine pairing, which is with 5 of the 6 courses. The food was great, but I think some Charleston, SC restaurants deserve some Michelin love. Some right at this level, if not better. Anyway...Course 1: Seared scallop with chestnuts and a parsnip sauce.Course 2: Venison Carpaccio with young buck and figCourse 3: Cod with something I missed... and a mushroom sauce. (My fav.. so good I forgot to write down 1 of the main ingredients)Course 4: Filet with mushrooms couple veggies and bonus mushrooms, cause my wife doesn't like them Course 5: Chocolate, pear, and pumpkin. Course 6: Clementine, honeycomb, and yogurt. Each dish, was simple, delicious, and had balanced flavors and textures. My favorite being the cod. Close second was the seared scallop. The sommelier did a great job, as the wines complimented each course perfectly. If you're adventurous with you food, I highly recommend.

Every dish of the six course tasting was perfect - each offering something new, unique and distinct from each other. Wine pairing was excellent as well. Come here over OX when in Belfast. Actually, come here over all when on the island.
Be the first to ReplyThe Muddlers Club has quickly become my favorite restaurant
The Muddlers Club has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Belfast this time around town working on season 7 of Game of Thrones. I've been for dinner three times already and am going again tonight. The first night was a little less stellar than the next two ... considering that both dishes that I had, the pigeon and foie gras appetizer as well as the steak main course, needed a touch of an acidic lift. But, I just asked for a wedge of lemon and that did the trick. The bottle of red wine that I ordered was quite too warm, so, it went on ice for 10 minutes and I had the chance to try the "Smoked Fashion" in the meantime. If you like all things smoky, this cocktail hits the spot! It's now the way I start every meal there :)On the next visit, the short rib tortellini was a knock-out appetizer and the smoked monkfish out of this world. The chef's arrangements of veggies that accompany each course are spectacular, adding not just color, but incredibly well-defined flavors and textures because they are cooked to perfection (meaning not a second over the ideal cooking time). On my third visit, the monkfish wasn't smoked but accompanied by a risotto with a squid ink sauce. I nearly licked the plate when I was done! And the red wine was perfect drinking temperature due to a quick note to the manager after my first visit. Now, that's a way to keep a costumer coming back. Next I am hoping that the wine list will expand a little bit since I am keen on trying a new wine (or a few, if I am ordering glasses) on every visit.Although I am not a big desert person, I have been lured into having one each time and they have always hit the spot. The atmosphere is as great as the food. The restaurant is small, so there is usually a lively buzz going on. Love the fact that it's an open kitchen and one can see chef Gareth plating his dishes. The use of natural wood and warm lighting creates a cozy feel that compliments the strong flavors of the food perfectly. As does the staff which is always cheerful and never not inquisitive. Now, the word has obviously gotten around town, so, if you plan to dine there on a Friday or Saturday night, call early in the week or even a week ahead since the restaurant books up quickly on these nights! And if you check out the gallery on the restaurant website, make sure you click on "show more" at the bottom of the photos initially shown because there are lots of shots of the beautiful dishes which taste even better than they look!

The food, drink, service and surroundings of this restaurant make it an excellent venue for an intimate dining experience or celebration of a special occasion. My mouth still waters when thinking about the scallop starter and white chocolate cocktail tasted on a recent visit.

I paid Gareth a visit to congratulate him on winning The Ulster Tatler Best Restaurant Award. Gareth is the proprietor and head chef here. He has carefully hand selected his front of house and kitchen staff and his ethos is, quote "happy people at work".He explained to me that he likes to keep his menus small and only ever uses local produce, except mushrooms which come from France thrice a week!! His kitchen staff and himself would often forage for food. The lunch menu looks lovely and is changed bi weekly, the evening menu is seasonal. Due to the fact that the menu is small I would suggest to look at it online before going as the selection may not appeal to everyone all the time. The restaurant seats 50 and is closed Sunday and Monday. Will have to try the food next time!!

Date: Friday 16 September 2016 at 1pm for lunch, my sister and I pre-booked a table for a visit prior to Culture Night.Food: Phenomenal, the best meal I've had in a very, very, very long time. Gourmet is the word that springs to mind. The lunch menu may be small but the food is perfect. We both ordered butternut squash gnocchi plus sides of mixed garden veg and broccoli with black olives & chilli. Fantastic, beautiful flavours and there's no salt or pepper on the tables in Muddlers Club, because it's just not needed. This restaurant serve absolutely delicious, gorgeous, high-quality food. My one and only gripe being that chips are cooked in beef dripping, so I would love to see a vegetarian version offered, however our Waitress was wise enough to advise us of this when we ordered, which was good.Drink: Our Pinot Grigio was spot-on and cocktails of Liberte Martini and Pistol Berry Mojito the best I've ever tasted. Muddlers Club definitely serve the best cocktails in Belfast - scrumptious.Price: Fair for the exceptionally high quality at £10 a plate for lunch, sides £4, wines circa £20 and cocktails £8.Decor/ Ambience: Such a relaxed, luxurious, welcoming restaurant. I loved everything about it from the wooden tables to the soft blue walls. We also enjoyed watching the Chefs at work in the open kitchen. Service: Attentive, friendly and helpful. The Waitress who served us was knowledgeable about the food and menu, plus we felt extremely well looked after. Flawless service which is a credit to Muddlers Club and its staff.Overall: Muddlers Club offer an exceptionally fantastic dining experience and I've definitely found my new favourite restaurant. I would highly recommend that everyone try this place out and I cannot wait to return with friends and family.

This place has to be seen and tried, hands down the best food I have had of recent. A real treat to visit. The main feature I liked was the open kitchen, that always gives me a good feeling when I walk in to a restaurant. From the offset, each staff member was at the ready, from the host welcoming us to the person that came to get us started with out order. They got us drinks and then brought us a small entrée to wet the appetite. Very relaxed and pleasant. Myself and my girlfriend had the steak which was to die for, the only issue was that the waitress misheard her order and got her steak medium instead of medium rare, but it wasn't too overdone for her liking and was still able to enjoy it besides this very small mistake. (She is too kind to complain) This was the only fault of what was an absolutely fantastic night. Will be back again at first chance
Be the first to ReplyHad a fantastic evening here on wednesday night.
The staff were friendly and very helpful with recommendations with the cocktail menu. I didn't really know what to expect as I hadn't heard much about it but will definitly be back. The menu is quite small. For starters we had the ricotta ravioli and the scallops, both cooked beautifully. For mains we both had the Ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. Its always a plus when you can see the kitchen and the chefs. For dessert we decided on cocktails; the chilli margarita and a smokey fashioned. They were so nice we got another 2. Thank god the taxi man knew where exactly it was or we may never have found it..definitly a hidden gem.

I was treated to dinner in the Muddlers club for my birthday at the start of December 2015. What a treat it was! On arrival I was shown to my table by a very friendly, helpful waiter. I noticed that the decor was modern and interesting with an open view hatch to the kichen. Very interesting menu. I had the scallops to start, followed by the duck, turnip, apple, cavolo nero and foie gras jus. All I can say is that it was delicious, small but very tasty. We both had delicious sweets too. It was expensive enough, but totally worth it. The restaurant became busy, so I was glad to get a table in the corner by the window, so it was still intimate and I could see what was going on inside the restaurant and outside. Lovely atmosphere, I would definately recommend dining in The Muddlers Club!
