The Morris San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
Our experience started with the warmest of welcomes as we
Our experience started with the warmest of welcomes as we walked in, greeted by a beaming server, a front-facing kitchen emanating an incredible aroma, and rows of chartreuse bottles of varying ages. Our party of four opted to sit outside which was cozy and nicely warmed. After a brief and informative lecture about chartreuse from one of several excellent servers, I dove into the chartreuse slushy which was fantastic. Not too boozy, too sweet or too lemony, it was the perfect pre-dinner drink. We had the full Monty charcuterie which looked massive but quickly disappeared. It had a variety of very interesting meats and everyone had a different favorite. We then shared the small plate of Dungeness crab with peas and passion fruit which was an excellent combination of flavors. Next came the whole duck with root vegetables and delicious fries--far and away the best duck any of us had experienced. We took leftovers home. Lastly, the chocolate pudding and donuts were both incredible desserts and not too sweet or filling. Food, ambience and service were all outstanding so I cannot recommend The Morris more enthusiastically!
Cool spot, but very rich food
Cool spot with great vibes; we came for a girls’ night, but this restaurant can easily be booked for a date night or even a family night. The restaurant was busy upon arrival but offers a lot of tables well into the bar area; just make a reservation if you can. The food was tasty but a little on the rich side for me. Maybe next time I don’t get bearnaise sauce topped on a perfectly cooked steak over creamy mashed potatoes. Was a little disappointed in the fries. They were kinda limp and undercooked in my opinion, but it did the trick to absorb our alcohol. The staff is friendly and attentive. Didn’t take note of parking as we Ubered.

Food 4.
0/5.0 Service 4.0/5.0 Value 3.0/5.0 Decor 3.5/5.0 Overall 4.0/5.0 The food was very good. The duck was a little underwhelming (gotta feed the IG though) whereas the cassoulet was excellent. Would come back.
Food looks great, but oddly lacked flavor.
We had to ask for salt to add some seasoning
Great food, and even better staff.
Highly recommend, and this really is a place that takes care and pride in its craft.
From start to end, it was a memorable dinner.
We started with the caviar which came with a lovely brioche and some condiments. We tried the pork cracklings and the duck heart skewers, super tasty. The mushroom profiteroles was a bit too heavy on the bread for my likes but my friend really enjoyed them. The heirloom tomatoes salad was super good. It came with a kind of a sauce that was incredible with the sourdough (probably one of the best sourdough breads I've had in San Francisco). The charred broccoli with squid was super tasty although I prefer if the squid came whole rather than in chunks. The pork belly was spectacular: it literally melted in your mouth and the skin was super crunchy. The beans and sauce were light and hearty... We washed the feast with a mezcal cocktail (Saint patron) and some doughnuts. It was a wonderful feast and I'll be back (for a lighter dinner!) and try their charcuterie. I have to mention we had a table outdoors and they were very accommodating to make sure we weren't cold. The set up is great and atmosphere was lovely. I gave only four stars to the service because they offered to taste the wine to the only man amongst us. They said it was because they thought he was the one ordering the wine. Even if that was the case, I appreciate if they asked the table instead of assuming is the man who chooses and tries the wine. They apologised, but I thought is worth mentioning.
The food is always perfect! I have never had a bad meal
The food is always perfect! I have never had a bad meal there. My most recent visit the sommelier recommended a wine pairing with our meal that was so spot on I literally was doing the good food happy dance. The service and ambiance is fantastic.
Last night was my second time at The Morris.
It's the perfect spot for dinner before any game, concert or event at The Chase Center. Or just go because you want a delicious meal with generous portions. Like last time, the cocktails were spectacular (we had a Last Word and Chartreuse slushy) and every dish was perfect. The charcuterie, little gems, and pork cracklins were definite favorites. After all that meat, you may wonder why we also needed a steak. Well, we didn't, but had already placed the order. The staff at The Morris not only tolerated my weird request to box up the steak and keep it in their fridge until I could pick it up after work the next day (I couldn't bring it to the Chase Center!), but they went over and above to accommodate me. The manager Amy checked in to make sure the courses were served in a timely fashion, which they had been. She gave me her business card so I could text on my way over today to retrieve my doggie bag. I arrived at the restaurant early this evening and had a fun chat with Gavin, one of the owners. He let me know that they'd actually made me a fresh steak, and it was being boxed up. Thank you Morris staff! Your generosity is appreciated. Yum.
Wonderful outdoor parklet.
Fantastic service. The charcuterie plate is to die for. HUGE, fed 7 of us. We couldn't believe we had more to eat afterward! Everything was so good. Pro tip, call ahead if you want the cassoulet to be gluten free, they can make it without the bread crumbs in it. It didn't look as delicious as the bread crumby one but it sure tasted great.
Great service and nice outdoor seating area.
It was a bit loud at times because of a party upstairs, though. Would recommend the little gems salad and brussel sprouts. The cod was pretty good too, if a bit on the salty side. The French fries were not that crispy but the garlic aioli it came with was delicious. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the duck by the time we arrived. Overall: would come back again if in the area. Solid entreés and great service.
Fabulous meal at The Morris last night.
Smoked Duck is their specialty and it is amazing. The Cassoulet is unique and very special. Don't miss either of these but get there early they run out. The buckwheat donuts and pudding were deserts benefitting of the meal. Also, the bread is a must have. Excellent service on top of everything else.
We had an amazing dinner.
Our server, Camryn, was fantastic. We had the whole duck for our entree and it lived up to the high reviews we saw when planning our dinner. We were only in town one night and were happy that we chose this restaurant.
Food: perfect.
Love the smoke duck. Ambiance: great neighborhood feel but upscale. Though not snobby. Just chill. Service: excellent. My family was happy.
In San Fran for a work conference and the final night, one
In San Fran for a work conference and the final night, one of our colleagues took us to The Morris. Not knowing much about the place, I had to check it out and to my surprise, it was excellent! First of all, we traveled about 10-15 minutes from the Union Square area and I will say, this part of SF might not be the best but that could also be because I don't know the area well. The restaurant is very trendy and quaint and as soon as you walk in, you smell what they are known for - smoked duck! The place is a little small and therefore it gets loud (plus we were next to a large birthday party group that had a lot to drink!) Two things you should know before going to The Morris: (1) the smoked duck is a must (and I'm not a fan of duck, even growing up as a duck hunter), and (2) Chartreuse - apparently, the owner of The Morris has one of the largest Chartreuse collections, much like wine, and the Chartreuse slushy is a must try! On a hot summer day, this would be a great refreshing drink - either way, everyone in our party ordered one to try and we all enjoyed it, even on this rainy, colder night. As for the food, we started with the full monty, which is a loaded charcuterie board with lots of unique meats - you must have a open mind and palette to try some of these things like duck liver mousse, spicy headcheese, rabbit terrine, duck rillette, and Pâté de campagne, to name a few. It was a unique experience and everything was very good and also tasty! For the remainder of our meal, we ordered several things including some nibbles like the Brussels sprout (excellent), beet salad, and charred broccoli with squid chili lime, as well as the crab porridge. Of course, we had to order the smoked duck, which is served with root vegetables. Like I said earlier, growing up, I didn't like duck because of the gamey taste but this was unbelievable - the smokiness and crisp skin really made this dish. Admittedly, it's probably not the most healthy dish and I can't imagine eating this weekly but it was special and I understand why people go to The Morris for this dish! All that said, we didn't leave any room for dessert (after several glasses of wine), although the buckwheat donuts really seemed like the go to sweet treat. I was really impressed with the food, quality of detail, flavors and the service was excellent - definitely check out The Morris next time you are in SF, you won't be disappointed!
Came over for a Monday dinner, the dining area is a bit
Came over for a Monday dinner, the dining area is a bit crowded but I guess the intimacy vibe was intentional (?) bathroom projectors were such a great idea. We had some of the signature appetizers- radish was very much in the lean portion side, so as the Brussel sprouts. Duck hearts skewers were the best of all, so very tender and flavorful. Made me think that I should make a comeback for their smoked duck main course. The sourdough bread was quite nice though wish they were a bit warmer. My black cod was great, crispy skin, super tender and juicy meat. Apple tart was quite good, I feel could be a bit more crispy on the top with thinner slices. Rosemary ice cream stole the show for sure.
Went there for NYE's from 9:30-00:30 and had a blast.
The atmosphere was vibrant, if a little loud, but appropriate for the event. The service was on point, and the sommelier was incredibly helpful navigating a fantastic wine list. They had a set menu which was delicious combination of seafood from their associate with Sea Stephanie Fish and the smoked duck which was probably the best duck I have had (maybe to the exclusion of foie gras, or peking duck in Beijing). There was also decadent caviar bumps being served. We had a blast and would definitely do this again!
Great dinner at the Morris
I took my company and some customers here for dinner. We had a pre-fixe menu, great wine, great service, The staff was exceptional. They were so helpful planning a wonderful night for all of us. I highly recommend the Morris!

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
