Chicken Sandwich Euphoria
This place has been on my Santa Monica list for years. We arrived about 30 minutes before they opened, no problem since its so centrally located near 3rd street promenade. We walked up to the hostess about 10 minutes before opening and were quickly greeted and seated inside near the window. The first thing that stands out is the decor i mean wow its beautiful in there. An homage to the prohibition area of the 1920's. seats were comfortable and the atmosphere was awesome. I imagine on a busy afternoon or evening this place is bustling! Food: Crispy Chicken Sandwich - jidori chicken breast. fennel slaw. granny smith apple. spicy mayo This is the star! one of the top 10 chicken sandwiches i have ever eaten. The coleslaw was fresh and the chicken fried to perfection. The sauce was heavenly and the apple slice at the bottom was an amazing surprise. GET THIS! The Smash Burger - double patty. tillamook cheddar. red onion. pickles. lettuce. tomato. secret sauce Very good burger, but compared to the chicken sandwich it pales in comparison. Hand Cut Kennebec Fries - Crispy salty delicious and HUGE enough for 3 people at least. Sauce Tip: Get the house-made honey mustard it's AMAZING Drinks: They have a huge bar that really is the centerpoint of the restaurant with anything you could possibly want. Service: Both the Hostess and the server were extremely friendly and the food came out very quickly. Dessert: Had both the pistachio and mint ice creams, both were super underwhelming, with the mint one being the most egregious. This was the most bitter ice cream I have eaten, I see what they were going for here but the bits of actual mint leaves just kinda ruined the flavor overall. Price: We went for Lunch and it was on the more expensive side. The sandwiches dont come with any sides so add $10 for them and you are looking in the $22 range without drinks. Compared to other places in the area I think it's right in line for the price. You are better off with the complimentary sea salt cookies as you walk out. Parking tip - Use the public parking structure on Santa Monica & 4th street you get 90 minutes for free. 1444 4th St, Santa Monica, CA 90401 Overall a great experience and a top restaurant in Santa Monica check it out!

Had a delicious dinner here recently! So tasty. Easy to park nearby and Santa Monica looked so pretty with the trees lit up outside. It's a great bar and the menu is amazing! Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Place, Great Food, Great Service
Great food, great place, great service. We had the crispy chicken sandwich, the house salad, the sichuan tomatoes and the clams&muscles, everything was great.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and vibes
Our son recommended this restaurant when we arrived in LA. Big shout out to our waiter Sage who was personable and charming! Our lobster sandwiches (I forgot what you call them!) were amazing. Great ambiance and super nice manager! Weโll be back!
Be the first to ReplyDiscriminatory and Unprofessionally
Discriminatory and threatening and unsafe conduct from staff. The manager told us to "F*** off" when he said he would sit us and then changed his mind. The host then proceeded to call me pathetic and miserable and then they called the police on us. The general manager then threatened physical force to remove us. We explained to the police what happened. The police agreed that it was bad customer service on the part of the restaurant but that the level of cursing and threats didn't rise to physical criminal threats under Cal. Penal Code 422. I didn't agree that it wasn't physically threatening. The backstory is that my friends and I, from out of town, tried to get a seat at the Misfit on a Friday night. Both are from the inner City, and I wanted them to have a nice meal. I had problems arranging with their Yelp seating. We can at 11:30, they're last call, but the host said we came at 11:35. Really; it appears that the host didn't want to sit us because he wanted to go home. (Instead, he should have been focused on the reputation and service of the restaurant and the way he is representing the owner and founder of the place.) The manager agreed to sit us for appetizers, but for some reason, after talking to the tired host, the manager then changed his mind. Two of my friends were young Hispanic guys, and I'm a minority myself. The two that were cursing and yelling at us were both white males. We believe we were discriminated against. It's clear the guy who cussed at us, threatened us physically, and called the police has anger issues and self-control issues. It's my view he really shouldn't be in charge of managing people. I called the restaurant the next day to complain. The manager said she'd call me back in an hour and never did. I emailed the management team and heard nothing as well. I also called their corporate office to leave a message. I'm very disappointed in how this restaurant treated us. I'm disappointed that the management team never addressed our concerns. All they had to tell us, if they were really unable to sit us, is that they were sorry we drove so far and that they would make it up to us by making sure we had a seat next time for sure. They really get an "F" for customer service, an "F" for racial sensitivity, and an "F" for friendliness and kindness and commonsense. In times like these, with the pandemic and racial tensions, management in fine dining establishment have to learn not to behave themselves so discriminatory and unprofessionally.
Be the first to ReplyGood vibe, GF and top food
We had a 30 min wait to be seated, but they used a txt app so we went for drinks elsewhere first (weird we werenโt invited into the bar). Good gluten free choices and both ours chose the burgers. Fries also GF, but the bowls were HUGE. We had ceviche and half a chicken on kale. Both v good. 4% kitchen tax added to bill BEFORE the service charge (effectively paying service on 104%). Watch this! Good service and lovely vibe in the bar/restaurant. We went with 2 adults and our 3 childre - 21, 16 & 14.
Be the first to ReplyThe Misfit is a Must Do!
Vacationing in Santa Monica, CA and came across this fabulous restaurant. It's a great place for a family dinner or with a group of friends. Fun modern atmosphere. Excellent food and excellent service. Flavorful California menu with exceptional gluten-free choices. We had the GF avacado toast and GF crispy chicken sandwich - delicious!!
Be the first to ReplyRude server and โkitchen feeโ?
We were quickly seated with no issues and our server Raheem greeted us. We ordered drinks and said we needed a minute to decide on a food order. He quickly returned with drinks and I ordered, Hummus to share and Pico Tacos and my husband ordered the pan roasted chicken. Our server said - well just so you know that will take about 20 minutes. I said - thatโs fine just bring the hummus as an appetizer and then the rest together. He says to me โwell thatโs not how we do things hereโ. - I was in a little shock. I said - well no we want to eat our entrees together. He says - well your tacos will take like 3 minutes. - Still in shock I simply said; well if my tacos come out before his - I will simple send them back. Well then Raheem says โyou donโt need to get an attitude with meโ. And walked away. Both our jaws dropped. I never raised my voice or gave โattitudeโ. I did not realize asking to eat our entree together was such a problem. We did get the food - hummus first and I guess while this place โdoes not do it this wayโ - they found a way to serve the entrees together. The food was good - but the experience was ruined. Needless to say - we decided to go someplace else for more drinks and not spend 1 more penny or minute in the place. I was also surprised to see a 4% โkitchen feeโ added to the bill. Really? A kitchen fee? Maybe this was for the special instructions or maybe it is for everyone. I did not see a โbartenderโ or โrentโ fee on my bill - so who knows. Needless to say - I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Venue! So accommodating!
Fabulous dining experience! We took our 2 and 4 year olds with us and the entire staff was very accommodating and patient with us. They showed us the best place to park our stroller and even brought us water and our kids waters (with lids and straws) upon arrival. They also offered to put in the kids' food orders first so their food would come out sooner. Genius! Randy and Johnnie did a magnificent job of waiting on us. Randy was our server and Johnnie took the time to ensure we were well take care of too. The other staff members were also kind and friendly. The cocktails and food were delectable! The atmosphere is eclectic, chill and warm. We were beyond impressed and will most definitely be back! Thank you for such an amazing lunch!

Enjoyed the upscale restaurant with family. Great food, attentive service. Pleasant experience overall.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience!
Such a fantastic restaurant! The food and drinks were amazing! But our waiter, Harry, by far made the experience. He was super attentive and really made us feel special!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, a bit disorganized on service
Recommended by our hotel and a really good location for diverse food creations. Sichuan marinated tomatoes were a great starter and can also recommend the Radio Milano Pasta Trofie and the Falafel Lettuce Wraps. Service was not very well coordinated, food delivery was poorly timed and we had four different people cover service for us.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious variety
I loved it here. The menu has something for everyone! We were a party of four two burgers and two of us had sharing plates of garlic shrimps and macaroni cheese plus a portion of fries which was enough for everyone. We settled on baba ganoush, as a sharer to start. The staff were super attentive from the beginning answering our many question and taking time with us despite it being busy and we were also given delicious cookies at the end! I would love to eat here again and try some
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food and Even Better Service
I was keen to sit outside and there was only one table, for six people free, when I was on my own. I feared the worst but the amazing lady who seated me had no hesitation in letting me take it, even though it was quite a busy night. She just said it was free at the time so I could have it. I am 49 and never sure if I will be asked for ID in the US but I hate carrying my passport around. When I voiced my concerns she said it would depend who would be serving me. The fantastic guy who served me had a great time winding me up pretending to ask me for ID when I ordered wine, after being tipped off by the lady. I ordered NY steak and frites/chips/fries/whatever which was amazing enough as it was but the sauce/jus/gravy was so good. The sparkling rosรฉ I had to myself was perfect for a nice warm evening too. I find LA to be a very expensive place to eat out but found Misfit to be very reasonable in that I'd consider it to be mid to hi-end as a restaurant but not all that much more expensive than Subway or McDonalds. The guy who took over serving me after his colleague finished his shift could not have been nicer either. The only negative thing I could say is that one person I think may have worked in the kitchen who brought me my meal was quiet bordering on the rude. Maybe I wouldn't have noticed if the rest of the staff hadn't been so exceptional but he stood out and was not in keeping with the rest of the people who worked there.
Be the first to ReplyLoved it
We didn't eat anything, just had some very strong drinks as it was a random late evening find. Very attentive barman who knew every cocktail we wanted, and a good atmosphere. In an old bank I think it was. Great find. Toilets very decent and clean. Thoroughly recommend anyone comes in at least for a drink
Be the first to ReplyHummus
I love the hummus and the Hennessy sidecar but the service is horrible chicken sandwich was good and the wings were okay big bowl of fries for 50
Be the first to ReplyโKitchen tipโ
Please check your ticket!! At the bottom there is an extra percent for the kitchen. They say itโs a tip for the chefs. I refused to pay it and they took it off my bill. And if you look it up online itโs absolutely not mandatory.
Be the first to ReplyThe place to Drink!
Seafood appetizer prepared nicely. Mix with the locals at happy hour and they buy you a quality drink so that they can sit together. Quaint upstairs hideaway niche may prove beneficial.
Be the first to ReplyWent downhill.
The service is horrible. Def a restaurant that lost all charm during pandemic. Bartenders doesnโt look like actor wannabe but uglier but still with an attitude
Be the first to ReplyBad drinks and so bad food
Service was bad and food worse. Bartenders were rude. Donโt go! Overrated place with no sound and extremely bad food and even worse bartenders. Skip this!
Be the first to ReplyNice Overall Experience at Misfit.
Came here for dinner while in town. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table. We shared Brussel sprouts, lobster sliders and steak frites which came with a nice side salad. Slides were very good. The steak was sliced and well seasoned. Brussel Sprouts weโre cooked and seasoned very good. Service was good.
Be the first to ReplyDonโt hesitate! This place is a diners dream.
Attentive and friendly staff. Great location. Gorgeous interior. DELICIOUS FOOD! The menu satisfies every type of pallet, diet and craving! Half off happy hour?! FANTASTIC!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Happy Hour !
Great deal for Happy Hour, 7 days a week! Cocktails are half off! We sat at the bar this afternoon and I ordered their new menu item, Beef tacos! It was delicious! I had Jenna help me decide what cocktails to order and she suggested a cucumber mint one called Fin n juice, ( gin, cucumber, lime, mint) which was very refreshing. My second one was a grapefruit one ( Goodnight Emily: gin, grapefruit, mint, honey and bitters!) What a perfect way to have lunch and get half off on my cocktails!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Find!
We stumbled into this place during a happy hour that lasts until 7pm on Sundays. The drinks were outstanding as was the food. We tried a bunch of different menu options and they were all excellent. I wish I lived closer so I could come back
Be the first to ReplyThere's a reason why this place has 4.5 stars.....
Love this place. This was one of my finds to potentially watch the playoff games for the 2022 Super Bowl. We wanted a bar atmosphere, but a lowkey one. This was exactly it. Although a full-on restaurant, they have a vibrant bar scene. Most were there to actually hang out with their group; we wanted to watch football. Lucky for us, we got three of the best seats in the house, right next to the ONLY TV they had.
The bartenders are all soooo great and made really good cocktails. Iโm picky about my French 75 and my dirty martinis; both were PERFECT! They have happy hour all day (even weekends) till 7pm. Drinks were tasty and not watered down at all. Only drinks NOT on HH menu were nonalcoholic and beer; this worked for us bc we are cocktail drinkers. We ordered a bowl of French fries to snack on and man it was like made for five people. Our final bill after drinking for 3+ hours was $200 which included tax and tip.
We liked it so much we came back for more after dinner. Would definitely go back.
