The Melting Pot - Tacoma Reviews
Fun time.
Good food. Why 3 stars. When you look at your receipt you'll see a seperate "liquor" charge, a separate "wine" charge. Super weird. You'll see a separate "retail" charge. A separate "surcharge". You'll see the normal tax charge. On top of those you'll get the typical "tip" request. 20%,18%.... This of course is on the total amount. Including the wacky included charges and taxes. Disappointed that's the norm....all restaurants do it. A helpful tip: if you are a veteran the MP's website says they offer a 20% military discount. Just bring proof. DD-214....I didn't see that till I got home unfortunately.
I was debating on leaving a comment on this but I felt like
I was debating on leaving a comment on this but I felt like it was important. My boyfriend and I made reservations for our anniversary to celebrate early, I put in the notes of our reservation that I was allergic to pine nuts/walnuts. When we walked for our reservation I made it clear a second time when the Host asked us if we had any allergies before we were checked in for our reservation, I then stated I was severely allergic to pine nuts/walnuts. We were sat and the area was nice! It was romantic for our anniversary and they wished us a happy anniversary as well. However, we ordered the bigger night out and of course ordered our salads. I got the Caesar salad which comes with pine nuts. Now the third time, I made it really clear to my server that I was allergic to pine nuts and I asked her to remove them from my caesar salad. When I got my salad, it had pine nuts on it. I know it may seem small but with so much effort to not have something I'm allergic to on my salad was kind of frustrating. Other than that we made the best of our anniversary :) fondue was yummy though
Bottom line, total ripoff.
Valentine's Day price fixe menu. Five courses. One glass of wine for my wife. Wait for it, wait for it: $375 for TWO. Server was nice and had been there for five years. She said she was going to nursing school, good for her. Food was so average. First dipping course was a cheese sauce that you could dip broccoli or a chopped up pretzel. Main course typical protein plus's a lobster tail. Ok quality. Dessert course included store bought pound cake, banana and strawberry pieces plus some other bits that included a heart shaped macaroon. Don't waste your money. If you want to spend $$$, go fifteen steps further and eat at El Gaucho. El Gaucho gives you a much better experience for the same price.
I think seasonings are a MUST however they don't provide
I think seasonings are a MUST however they don't provide any, the food was bland and honestly not worth the money. The only good parts were the first and last course, which was the cheese and chocolate fondue. The seafood was green hued... honestly highly concerning and still waiting to see how my boyfriend feels because he ate just about the entire lobster tail. the service from our waiter was amazing, she was very sweet along with the bussers. The ambiance was amazing , we went for the valentines 5 course special and it was really pretty. We were set up in a private intimate room with only one other couple hidden behind a rose wall. There was an array of flowers and candles and champagne on the house which was very nice. The drinks were amazing and everything came fairly fast I just worry about the quality of food, nothing that the waitress could control however if my boyfriend ends up sick they will definitely be hearing from us. I think if you're old or have no tastebuds the main course is probably fine for ya, was just extremely bland and just plain blah. You're probably thinking well why didn't you say something and get it comped? I HATE saying something, I hate being a "Karen" lol. But yall deserve to know as guests it's truly not worth it unless you're going for the deserts or cheese
I wouldn't recommend this place based on our experience.
After waiting for half an hour at our table, no one had taken our order because the waiter seemed overwhelmed. Our drinks were also delayed, as they were mistakenly given to another table. When we spoke with the manager, their response felt dismissive. Ultimately, we decided to leave. Update on 1/14/25: The owner reached out after reading the review and said we'd be hearing from the manager, who left a voice message on New Years Eve. When I returned the contact soon thereafter (after the holiday), the manager did not reach back out, in spite of assurances from the owner that the manager would follow up. Based on my experience, it seems this may align with how things are typically managed at that location.
First of all.
Such an awesome experience overall, hostess/server was too sweet and extremely helpful throughout our entire experience. It such such an intimate and nice atmosphere that really drew attention to who you're sharing your meal with. Ofc the food was top tier and honestly I can't wait to go back! Did I mention I went 45 minutes before closing and was still able to be seated? I was nervous. This is an experience not just a place to sit and eat. So be prepared that it may be a 1.5-2 hour sit down :)
They have their Oktoberfest meal going on this month and on
They have their Oktoberfest meal going on this month and on the flyer it looked absolutely delicious but when they brought the entrée out, it was a joke. I asked the waitress if this was the first one since we had ordered three and she said no this is all three. My husband and I looked at each other in shock. There were six cubes of summer sausage, a quarter of diced green apple 10 cardboard, thin pieces of bratwurst that if you were to have put together would equal half a bratwurst, six tiny cubes of steak and about 20 small bite-size pieces of bread. Then there were the 3 small salad which we had to ask for the Cesar dressing for said Cesar salad. Mind you we ordered three of these Oktoberfest meals, which were each 50+ dollars. Needless to say for $181.74 we are at home making frozen pizza.
I've been wanting to go to The Melting Pot for a while and
I've been wanting to go to The Melting Pot for a while and finally got my chance today! The environment: Dimly lit, however it was relaxing in a way - and the spacious area and ceiling ensured it wasn't a claustrophobic feel. Very clean place as well! The service: The staff were very nice and excellently helpful! They answered any and all questions we had. I witnessed them cleaning up a broken glass at a different table within literally five minutes. The food: Oh gosh, the food was absolutely, deliriously amazing. The food wasn't overly rich, but it was filling. It was ridiculously good. So there's this burner thing in the middle of the tabletop that they set the melting pot on top of. You have the option to order a cheese fondue, a salad, an entree, and a chocolate fondue. There's roughly 6+ different options for each entree. The cheese fondue comes with little cubes of bread, apples, broccoli, etc. to dip in the fondue. The entree is the interesting part, though! You essentially get to cook your own meat within the simmering fondue pot. You get all the meat raw and you can stick it in the melting pot with the broth. It typically only takes 3-4 minutes to cook all the way. For the chocolate desert, there's whichever chocolate combination you ordered within the melting pot. You get bite-sized brownies, cookies, waffles, rice crispies, bananas, strawberries, etc. to dip into the chocolate. Final thoughts: The Melting Pot is such an experience! Especially nice since there tends to be a 10-25 minute wait between courses of the meal. It's just so fascinating because this is an experience unlike any other restaurant!
Ok I have been to this location multiple times before as
Ok I have been to this location multiple times before as well as others, but it has been a few years (we just don't eat out as much anymore). I came in knowing what to expect and left feeling disappointed. First, we didn't have a reservation but it was early (4:30pm) and weeknight for birthday celebration, there was almost no one there, but the attitude from the hostess was plain rude. Party of 3 and seated immediately, the restaurant looked exactly the same as it always has. We ordered a pretty basic menu, I am allergic to most seafood. The cheese course was ok, bread was mostly stale and we basically got bread and a couple apples and a couple broccoli. We got the beer cheese and it was mostly beer, less cheese. The salads were maybe 5 bites and the vinaigrette was extremely sharp tasting. The chicken with our main was pretty low quality, and no seasoning, I think they over estimate how much flavor the broth can give. They maybe gave enough sauce for one not three, like two small spoons of each. I would have asked for more if I ever saw the waitress. The dessert was good but I remember the dippers use to be more creative, mostly banana and strawberries. We were never asked for drink or water refills and the waitress never checked on us beyond bringing the courses and leaving quickly. They charge a surcharge but this is Tacoma and not Seattle, so really? I would say the food was just ok but the service was what I would expect at Denny's not Melting Pot. Just not worth it for the prices and fees, sad to say since this use to be our go to place for special occasions.

Jacob, our waiter, was FANTASTIC, he provided superior service. Darin, the General Manager, knew this was our 10 year old grandsons first visit and went above and beyond to make his experience memorable, Jackson had a smile from ear to ear:) As expected every morsel on our taste buds was an explosion of flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and cozy, as well as the top notch service.
