I was really disappointed to see that i could not navigate
I was really disappointed to see that i could not navigate their website without agreeing to permit over a dozen cookies (as in website cookies) that allow the hotel, Google and Facebook to track you and send you targeted advertising. Seriously? You are selling my info to Meta?? That is the price i have to pay just to look at the pictures of the rooms and check availability? Don't buy that bs about cookies being needed to make the website more convenient to use... cookies are used by the one company to target you for marketing or to sell to another company (to then target you for marketing). If you value your privacy, try looking at the websites offered up by The Wall Street Hotel, The Carlyle, the Ritz Nomad (among dozens of others).. they operate just fine without me having to adjust my privacy settings. I mean, I know that accepting cookies will not result in a catastrophic tech event... but they are still bullshyt. And if we register our discontent, business websites will eventually modify their policies. Otherwise... looks like a nice hotel from the few photos i could see on their site.

Wonderful. Beautiful venue. Stupendous ambiance. Our go-to hotel in NYC. Majorelle the classic very fine French dining room. Beats 'Le Grenouille' and all of Daniel's most contemporary menus/venues. Elegant in every sense. Love it!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat hotel and location.
Rooms are nice and clean. Service is 5 star. Staff is very welcoming and friendly.

Let me start by saying that my wife and I have stayed at this property 5-6 times over the last 5-10 years. Our last stay was 11/2019 and could not have been more enjoyable. On past stays we have always been thrilled with our experience, expensive but worth it, hence the return visits. The front desk, concierge, and managers have always been very welcoming especially on return visits. We often felt like we were returning to our "home" in NYC. Not so on this visit. On this visit, 1.5 weeks prior to XMAS 2021, we were more than a little disappointed. On arrival our reception by the front desk staff was at best distracted. Some diminutive septuagenarian female speaking French, peppered with English, was demanding ALL the resources of the front desk and concierge. Unfortunately none ofthem could seem to break off from this modern day "M Antionette" as she sucked all of the oxygen out of the room. Leaving us, and other guests, watching this spectacle while waiting to register. When our turn finally came to register we were treated with exhausted indifference. Only the bellman, who has been there for several years, welcomed us as a return guest. I had booked a jr. suite with either a balcony or fireplace. We received the balcony option overlooking the rear alleyway of the hotel, no charm or view, even less useful in the 40 degree weather. Interestingly, I called the front desk several days prior to arrival and was told that they were planning on putting us in a room with no fireplace as none were available, but that they had picked a " guest favorite" suite with a balcony possessing "great southern" views of the NYC buildings. At best imaginative, at worst a very disingenuous staff description. We were also disappointed to find out that the Club Room, " reserved for the use of guests only", was reserved for large private (outside?) parties every evening of our stay, and was for all intents and purposes completely unavailable to their vaccinated hotel guests. While we did not dine at Majorelle, I do want to say that the Pembroke Room and attendant staff remain professional, friendly, and it is a great pleasure to start your day with them having a delicious breakfast. The gym remains small but nice. Housekeeping at this hotel is truly excellent as well. Bellmen, Doormen are also on the spot and helpful. Overall, not the "number one hotel in NYC" experience we had grown accustomed too.
Be the first to ReplyA generous 2 star review.
The good: Beautiful public spaces. Also the staff is personableAnd professional. The bad: our room was drab and overlooked an air shaft. The furniturelooked like it came from a second hand store. The room was so dark (no ceiling light) that it was impossible to read in the middle of the day.The room did not accommodate a chair that could be used to watch TV.Way, way Over rated.

Beautiful hotel, rooms are well appointed and a great size for NYC. Facilities are excellent as well, in particular Majorelle, ate there almost every day of our stay and never had a less than stellar experience.

I stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every minute of it.

Today was our second and probably our last visit back to the Pembroke Tea Room. Although, we arrived on-time (4:30 pm) the on-duty manager - Gerardo made us wait 15 minutes while there were empty tables in the center of the room. He then sat us at a small table in the corner and insisted our party of seven could only pick three pots of tea to share. It puzzled us because on our first visit we each received our own tea service and a large table to accommodate our tea pots. Gerardo's excuse was he didn't have enough pots to serve us. The sandwiches were tasteless, dry and few compared to the previous year. We were given one cold scone each and we were told it was so busy earlier in the day that they ran out of the plain scones. There was no white glove service. This time the Lowell Imperial Tea was not worth it. Next year, we plan to return to The Russian Tea Room or The Plaza for our annual tea. I am only giving one star because the waiter - Joseph was so nice. Gerardo was rude and unapologetic. We never saw him again after we were seated. I am updating my review to say I was called by the Lowell Hotel management who apologized and offered to remedy our visit. Unfortunately, we were unable to take them up on their offer because two of our party members were from out of town; so, we took a refund instead. We thank the Lowell management and Joseph, the waiter for trying their best to correct an unpleasant moment

The service, rooms, decor, and overall ambience of the hotel are spectacular. I stayed here for several days during a birthday trip in NYC. The hotel service was top-notch. I had little surprises from my husband that the hotel accommodated. Waiting for me was chilled champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and a beautiful birthday cake. My husband told them what he would like and the hotel made it happen. The toiletries are lovely. In my room, the bathroom floors were heated and had a bathtub AND shower, which is so luxurious for such a small hotel in NYC. There was also a steam option in the shower. The lighting is perfect in the bathroom and dimmable. I took one star away simply because of the mattress, which is absolutely crucial for me when staying at a hotel. For the price of the rooms here, the mattresses should be better. They do have a nice topper on them and the linens are a quality thread count, but those two factors still won't mask a poor quality mattress. Side note - I did NOT complain to management about the mattress. Perhaps they could have accommodated me with a replacement. It IS a small hotel with not many rooms. But, with all of the high positives with this hotel, I didn't want to complain and make a huge deal, especially since I wasn't sure if a replacement was even possible. Overall, I would absolutely stay again at The Lowell. Every single person employed there was top-notch in their service.
