Nothing Beats The Herbfarm.
This is the ABSOLUTE best dining experience ever. The food is truly farm to table with service that is unparalleled. The wine matching is extraordinary. I’ve been a couple of times and can’t wait to return.

I would say that the experience that I had at this restaurant was one of the best things I have done. The attention to details was just fabulous the food was exceptional and the service was great. I went by myself and sat at the farm table where I not only had great food but also enjoyed meeting wonderful people. It was such an amazing time and I will be going again. It was more than just a meal it was an experience. Before the meal you get the option to walk in the garden that is filled with edible flowers and the herbs that you will be having in the 9 course meal which you can taste before the meal starts.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Place!
The Herb Farm is a fabulous place. The seismic shift the world shared a few years ago, has resulted in not so professional customer service and less than pleasant personal encounters. Not so at this wonderful restaurant (although restaurant is an inadequate title... more of a perfectly magical dining tour). This was our 5th visit, for our 30th Anniversary, and we brought our daughter for her 14th birthday, her first visit. She loved it as much as we do and called it a "theatre performance". We were prepared for experience erosion, instead we received welcoming, warm, subtly attentive service, exemplary, original delicacies, cleverly paired beverages, and beautiful, yet comfortable surroundings with the perfect musical accompaniment. We were delighted when our servers played along with our Would You Rather question game (meant to keep the teenager amused, though she thought the 4 hour dinner flew by in an hour, without assistance) Do your life a favour and treat yourself and others to this uniquely amazing experience! Absolutely unforgettable!
Be the first to ReplyLost Its Luster
We’ve gone to the Herb farm five times now, and this past visit will be our last. There’s new owners, and that may be part of the problem as they struggle to provide great food and wines, with appropriate portions so you don’t come away hungry. And handle the crowd better. Big issues for us: • It seems they are really reducing food quantity. I’m small, and not remotely a big eater. This was the first time ever in a fine dining, multi-course tasting menu that I left hungry. I never eat bread, yet that was the only thing they had a lot of, and helped to fill me up. We’ve eaten at terrific restaurants all over the world with great tasting menus, so we’re accustomed to the small portions typically served. But this was too little for most courses. • The lamb course was ridiculously small—2 small thumb sized pieces—but was delicious. And the salmon was drowned in way too much broth. 1 halved new potato was another course way too small, but the paddlefish roe accompaniment was terrific. The apricot dessert was boring. • We did the wine pairing and were disappointed there as well. Most were very simple wines, and the pours for most were about 2 ounces. In the past, there was always a decent size pour, and they walked around doing refills for those who wanted. And the wines were always terrific. • There was a table with about 9 women that was ridiculously loud. So much so they completely drowned out the Spanish guitar player (who I think was great if we could have heard him), and conversations at many tables. Management should have definitely had them quiet down so the rest of the diners could enjoy their meal. After many years of visiting this wonderful restaurant, it’s a shame to not have a first rate experience like in the past. Hopefully they can turn things around.
Be the first to ReplyA once in a lifetime pricey experience with exquisitely curated small portions
Having previously lived in the Kirkland area more than a decade ago and never making it to Herbfarm, my wife and I made it a point to dine here on our recent visit to the area. We were greeted with a small hors d’oeuvres and a chilled glass of kombucha and then toured the herb garden. Chef Chris Weber’s passion for his food and the herbs really came across to us from the beginning. It was interesting to learn about some of the herbs that were going to be in our courses that evening. The wine pours with each course were generous and the staff was overall really attentive. The creativity with each course and the intentionality of the ingredients used came through well. If I had to critique anything, it was the portion size of each course. When you have nine courses, you don’t expect every course to be substantial, but none of the courses were substantial. At the end of the night, the only thing that left us somewhat satisfied was the additional bread that kept us from having to go somewhere else to get dinner following dinner. We noticed other tables also had to ask for more bread. One other slight annoyance was trying to get the sommelier over to our table to add the additional wine pairings. In the end, we just purchased one additional glass of wine that wasn’t even on the pairings list. We were told that we could only purchase all of the wines on the additional wine list and not any of them individually (again by the time the sommelier had come over, we were already into the 5th course). Big highlights were Chef Chris and the rest of the serving staff and the flavors of the food were there. Decor was eclectic and felt special. But, if I am being completely honest, we have had much better meal experiences for about half the cost of this experience (it cost us about $900 for two people).
Be the first to ReplyBIGGEST RIP OFF IN MY 77 YEARS
I paid a small fortune for us to try this heavily advertised foodie joint. To make a long story short, we finished the "dinner" quite hungry and went elsewhere for actual food. The endless lectures and small portions may be good for wealthy foodies who like to be seen but not for ordinary professionals. This joint has survived on the upper 1% of our population.
Be the first to ReplyService and Food are superb!
One of the best restaurant experiences we have had anywhere, reminiscent of Alain Chapel’s 3 Michelin-starred restaurant in Mionnay (France)! Dining here is like attending a play in which the servers, kitchen staff and sommelier are first-rate, flawless performers who, while presumably have done it over and over, act as if you are their special guests! Portions were just right for our nine course meal paired with interesting wines. Our favorite was the sweet corn soup with fried shallots and chicken liver mousse (sure tasted like Chapel’s famous foie gras to me), then perhaps the melt-in-your-mouth duck and duck confit. While one of the four of us does not eat meat and another no diary, by giving the restaurant advance notice of the dietary restrictions, we each got superb food and service. Expensive to say the least, but well worth the trip!
Be the first to ReplyA very memorable evening
We dined at Herbfarm in late August and have not stopped talking about the experience. We did the garden tour before dinner- informative & educational. Dinner was not just dinner- it was an evening of fabulous food & wine & education about both. There were 11 “tasting courses” accompanied by 6 wine selections. As the first course was served, we were welcomed by one of the owners who talked about the farm, how it came to be and the philosophy of the institution. Then the chef described each course, including what he was trying to accomplish with the selections, where the food was sourced (great story about the farmer who grew the melons for the three melon sherbet) and how members of his team contributed to creating the selections we were being served. The sommelier then described the wines and talked about how he and the chef collaborate in creating the wine/food pairings. The wines were excellent and took the food to an even higher level. Everyone we interacted with made us feel welcome, the service was graceful and unhurried; it felt personal. We had coffee and tea (best blackberry tea I have ever had) which came in individual French presses. At the end of the evening, each member of the Herbfarm team was introduced. We hope to make this an annual experience. We stayed at the Willows Lodge right next door. Wonderful place. (Contrast the Herbfarm w/ my review of Willows Inn on Lummi Island- they are not in the same league. Recommend you skip Willows Inn).

We've eaten at many wine pairing events from Grant Achatz at Alinea in Chicago to Arzak in San Sebastián and dozens in between. We were completely enchanted by this experience. Carrie gave a playful tour of the herb garden that set the tone for the night. She was interesting and entertaining and didn't drown you with info you don't care about. Every person we were served by had an attitude of grace and delight and that comes from the top so kudos to Carrie and chef Chris Weber. Now for the food. Each course celebrated the fresh herbs/produce of the day. The dishes were so artfully conceived that your senses were lifted to new realms. All this delight was without heavy sauces and over-dependence on protein being the star of the show. I've never left a pairing dinner feeling so satisfied and energized. Because my body was full of so many good things, I slept like a baby that night. We cannot recommend this experience highly enough.
Be the first to ReplyAn unexpected experience and positive surprise
This actually was the highlight of our weekend in the North-West. We didn't know what to expect but from the get-go it was top notch, starting with the tour through the herb garden. The food was delicious throughout. The wine pairing was not to my liking, however with the "Bible", their book of rarities, at decent prices, this was a quick fix to elevate everything to a whole other level. Certainly will be back if in the area!

Just catching up on reviews from last year.... Made reservations weeks in advance in anticipation of a great dinner experience, and we were not disappointed. Be prepared for a few hours of great food, at a great location and top notch service. And the great friends just added to the fun. We were seated at a table that was personalized for our group. The dinner is always themed, and ours was based on sourcing all the ingredients from within 100 miles of the restaurant. Down to the salt and any other ingredient you can think of. Rather pricey, but who can put a dollar amount on a special occasion. Do not hesitate to do this at least once.

What an amazing experience. I was made to feel special at every turn. From a mini tiara to a little frame with the year I was born. Ended with a special tea and a little knife to cut herbs. The food is local. In the midst of this pandemic, the food was basically from down the street. Paired with wines from the PNW that they have cultivated partnerships with over many years. During the shut down they spent their energy, food and talents serving our local heros who work in hospitals and the front line. My husband works at swedish hospital and properties running infrastructure. They did not know he is one of the people they have been supporting. This is not an inexpensive experience. I feel very loved that my children know me so well that they chose this experience for me. If you have an opportunity to visit this special place. Do not pass it up.

I wanted to be sure you knew how grateful we were this evening at the UWMC Northwest in the ED for our delicious dinner. It was incredibly thoughtful of you to bring such a generous offering to us during a time of stress, one that is especially impacting the hospitality industry. We are grateful and sated. Looking forward to patronizing your restaurant once we are able! Fondly, Melissa Hartley, ED Social Worker
