The Flatiron Room New York Reviews from The Last Year
Fantastic bar with excellent ambiance.
The bartender was most kind and friendly. I felt extremely welcome, immediately. Service was prompt and on point. Drinks, delicious. I'll be back! Check it out.
We really enjoyed our dinner at The Flatiron Room.
We were looking for a NY feeling and definitely got it. Food was delicious, bourbon flight even better, and the jazz music added to the overall experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the bourbon and oysters. Plus he was more than attentive, which added to our overall experience. We all thought this was our favorite dinner while visiting NYC and will definitely be back.
Such a fun spot for a unique night out.
We had front row seating for the live music, though I wouldn't call the music jazz. Tonight's entertainment was two men singing cover songs of oldies, not necessarily jazz music. Still fun nonetheless and great romantic ambiance. We also ordered the fries, which were tasty with the truffle sauce, and the focaccia which was extremely dry. We also got dessert after some drinks- the sphere was enticing but deceiving because once broken, the cake inside is teeny and dry. Definitely would recommend for ambiance and drinks but maybe not so much for food!
Booked reservations on Valentines Day and it was simply the

Great Ambiance and service.
Food was good too and last but not least great live music.
Restaurant week 2024.
It's been a while since I've ventured to celebrating this event in NYC. This is my 2nd trip to The Flatiron Room - Nomad. My first time was incredible with the jazz stage, blues music, unique cocktails and a nice selection of food. For Restaurant Week, I always am hesitant on what restaurants to try because the menu is usually limited with their select dishes and you're playing roulette on quality and portions. My experience here did not do well for me. This place has a fancy and fabulous vibe with beautiful interior and a chilax atmosphere after a long hard work day. The food and the service was subpar. Our server disappeared in the middle of our dining session and we were left not given any notice of being switched to a new server, until 30 minutes into the dining. The Restaurant Week menu offered each section (appetizers, entree and dessert) with a complimentary wine to pair. 3 wines were meant for each section but was only given two - and had no idea they still charged me for all 3 glasses. Some of them items were fresh such as the beetroot salad and mac and cheese meatballs. But majority of my dishes felt very dry and stale like they've been sitting out for too long and waiting for the next party to serve them. Overall not my best restaurant week experience and the price put out for this was extremely high. If I wanted to impress any guests asking me for recs on a blues atmosphere venue to enjoy small bites and a drink - that would do. But the food and quality of it - it needs to be adjusted to level the expectations of the venue itself.
Came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and this
Came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and this place did not disappoint. Super romantic and quaint vibes. The live music adds such a nice touch. The drink menu and scotch selection is fantastic and we really enjoyed the scotch flight. The food was really good also! Our waitress was super accommodating and continually checked in on us throughout our dinner service. Only negative i guess is how expensive it was. My bill came out to $350 with tip. But i guess you get what you pay for. Will definitely visit this restaurant again.
Came here for the $60 restaurant week deal.
Haven't been to a restaurant with a coat check in a while, so we were feeling bougie. When we arrived at 6:15 the place was quite empty, but by the time we left it had filled up. The live music was entertaining, and the ambience was on point, so that is the only things saving this review from being 1 star. I started with a mocktail, the Free Spirited. It was good, but tasted almost like a mango lassi, except for triple the price. The service was not the best though. They messed up one of our orders and brought out a seasonal salad when we ordered a beet salad so we asked for a replacement. The appetizers were alright; the macaroni was probably the best, but the beet salad and meatballs were not so great. When the main course came, I was very surprised by how small the portions of salmon were; I'm not sure if that's the normal size entree or if it's smaller for restaurant week. It was tasty, but I just wish it were bigger. When we had finished our water carafe they took it away but it was quite a while without one so eventually we had to ask for another one. I was also surprised they didn't fill our glasses but had us do that ourselves, which seemed odd to me at this type of establishment. Anyways, that was just a very minor detail, but what happened next was the worst part... Our dessert just didn't come. After about half an hour past when we finished eating our entree we noticed we hadn't seen our server in a long time. We flagged down another server to ask, and she told us that our server hadn't been feeling well (yikes!) so he had left. I couldn't believe that they hadn't come over to mention that to us until we asked. Eventually they brought out the dessert, a sticky toffee pudding, which was not particularly sticky nor flavorful. I thought it was ice cream on top, but was surprised that it was just whipped cream that looked exactly like ice cream. After we left, I realized that my friend had only got 2 of her 3 glasses of wine for the pairing she did since they forgot to bring out the glass with dessert, but we still had to pay for it.
After seeing a play, we were looking for a place that stays
After seeing a play, we were looking for a place that stays open late for a bite to eat. We found the Flatiron Room, read that they have live music nightly and didn't close until midnight. We walked in at 10:47pm and asked if they were still serving. We were told that we have 13 min. Fine, we can order in 13 minutes. Then we were immediately told "no beanies inside." As if I'd wear a beanie inside a restaurant, but it was 22 degrees outside, so if you're not sure if I'm a Beanie Offender, just give me a minute to remove my 47 layers. We were taken to our table and reminded TWO more times that we only had 13 min by the same guy, which is odd because, at that point we surely only had about 12 minutes. We ordered shishito peppers, French fries, octopus and two cocktails: the Triumph and the the charred dirty martini. They didn't have the shishito peppers, and the martini was served in a glass with (someone else's) lipstick on the rim. While the martini was better, neither was amazing, and they certainly weren't worth the $24 investment. The French fries were lukewarm, the restaurant was chilly inside (if only I had a beanie!), and the "live music" was a bored Deejay playing boring music really loud while we ate cold fries and drank out of dirty glasses. Do better, Flatiron. Our waitress was nice, and the martini was impressively served with a pretty glass (minus the lipstick), and a small bottle on ice to refresh it as you drank. My final vote is...skip it.
My boyfriend planned our date night and picked this spot.
10/10 would recommend. The drinks are a little pricey, but just factor that into the cost of the overall experience. - Complimentary coat check - Quality cocktails - Great music - Good service
Jazz, Food & Whiskey - What else do you need?
Tried this restaurant for a Monday evening especially for the live Jazz and came away impressed by the extensive whiskey selection and the quality of the food.
Did not live up to expectations
Really didn't live up to expectations. Apart from the great live music, I have nothing good to say about this place. Our server was unfriendly and did not make any effort to be welcoming. The food was expensive and just ok with portions on the very small side. I had the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail expecting a jumbo portion but was served with just 4 shrimps - no bread, no garnish - so £8 per shrimp. Wine extortionately priced. Restrooms too dark and dingy. We paid a hefty amount for a very mediocre experience. Can't recommend.
Our New Favorite Place in NYC
Celebrated our anniversary here at a great table in the back - very private. This place is vintage NYC style and has great live music. Every night. Food was excellent and service exceptional. Loved the vibe and decor of the place. We will be back!
Great Night Out
The Flatiron Room is a fun and unique experience. It is a step back in time with a certain 1920s swagger. You get amazingly unique live entertainment surrounded by an extremely large whiskey selection. There whiskey selection is quite extensive and our very helpful server guided my wife to a few great whiskey selections. I myself stuck with their outstanding cocktail menu.
Terrific Lounge
I recvd a present to attend a whiskey tasting at the Flatiron Room. We arrived early and sat at the bar. The spirit section is impressive to say the least; however, since we were going to a whiskey tasting we were not about to partake. The bartender was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He was polite and generous to share his experiences and knowledge. We enjoyed listening to him. All the while avery nice talented two person musical group was on stage performing songs. We really enjoyed the music. It was perfect for the setting. The staff was professional and escorted us to the upstairs ‘private dining or tasting room’. The tasting itself was fantastic. Again the staff was polite and interesting. We learned a lot. After our tasting we had dinner in the restaurant. The food was fine but the star here is the selection of spirits and of course the gorgeous setting. I would give the review five stars and maybe it deserves five but I’m a foodie and the food was ok. Again the music was something we enjoyed. The setting. The people. There are not that many lounge rooms these days. This is a good one. The bartender who first spoke to us sent over a drink which was really unnecessary. And so unexpected. We were not drinking any more but the thought was very nice. And we had some to be polite. Everyone from the hostess to the waitress to the bartender, to all of the staff that put together the tasting (it was through James Beard) was absolutely wonderful. They made the experience a very nice night. If you are looking for a very civilized evening in a nice setting with good people the Flatiron Room is a good place to go. Especially if you are a fan of lounges.
