A unique and lovely gem!
For years I’ve known about The Crossing and I have no idea why my husband and I haven’t gone. I think like some people you get stuck in a rut and don’t venture out of your neighborhood perhaps as much as you did when you were younger. Well, today I learned a valuable lesson. It was my birthday and I made a last minute reservation. First, there was our waiter Jake, who was possibly one of the kindest, warmest, most wonderful new friends I’ve made in a long time! A true pro, he was handling the whole room by himself and didn’t break a sweat and didn’t seem phased and didn’t seem too busy to talk to us. I could NOT get over him. Most importantly, our lunch, each of our lunches, were the best we’ve had in a long time. And for a restaurant of its caliber and for what prices are today and for the QUALITY of what we each had, I felt it was worth every penny. My husband had a Caesar salad with the most wonderful, LARGE shrimp, cooked to perfection. I had an incredible piece of salmon on top of a melange of delicious vegetables and under the vegetables were silky, mashed potatoes with a light, beautifully done lemon sauce. For dessert!! Each offering by the way sounded better than the next. We ordered a lemon Semifreddo(an Italian sort of frozen custard), with a scoop of raspberry sorbet on top and the most delicate, delicious candied lemon peel which made it look fanciful! It was such a great combination!! This is beginning to look like a college paper in length- so I’ll conclude by saying I can’t wait to go back. The Crossing is small, charming and VERY SPECIAL.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and excellent food
We have been here many times and they have always taken great care of us. The beet salad is excellent and either the tasting menu or ala carte are both great choices This last time we chose tasting. Veal chop was very good and my wife had porchetta that she enjoyed. The service is excellent and I’m pleased to know they use beef tallow to cook with. A healthy choice and no seed oil

The Crossing is an amazing restaurant with even more amazing food. My sisters and I chose the 4 course tasting menu w/ wine pairings. The presentations were all beautiful and the food really was some of the best food I've ever eaten. I have not one single complaint about the whole experience. Our server, Joshua, was super attentive and patient, and very knowledgeable about both the menu and the wines. It's a little pricey, but not overpriced, definitely worth every penny. I highly recommend The Crossing, and I will be back. Excellent celebration restaurant too.
Be the first to ReplyRestaurant Has Doubled Menu Prices
Very poor way of handling business. Their regular 4 course dinner is $65 per person. We made a reservation for Valentine's Day evening in December. We were not told when we were making our reservation nor a few days ago when Brooke from the Crossing called us to confirm our reservation that dinner prices were more than doubled from $65 per person to $135 per person for Valentine's Day. The new pricing was just uploaded to the website within the past 48 hours. If we would have known that dinner would be over $350 (including tax and gratuity), we would have booked somewhere else. Now they have us trapped two days before Valentine's Day as there are obviously no Valentine's Day reservations available anywhere. Now our only options are paying over $350 for dinner or not being able to go out on Valentine's Day, which is an event we've planned ahead for since December and have been looking forward to.

The free dip was delicious and the cocktail I ordered was perfectly paired with it; the four course menu was awesome, especially the FOIE GRAS and the best Quail I’ve ever had. The wine pairing was a wonderful value. Given the chef’s sensibilities I’d be happy to order the full tasting menu when time is not a concern.

Extremely racist staff! It’s evident they do not want people of color dining at this establishment. Disgusting behavior by all staff working!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Team - Grat Food
I found The Crossing on a business trip to St. Louis by accident, as it was quite close to my hotel. The location is nice, no AC switched on in Winter. As party of one, I got a good table, not normal in many restaurants, if you pop up single. The team is professional and kind, savvy in both wine and food. The food was very good, there is simply not more to say! Bottom line: A great dinner-experience in St. Louis/ Clayton!

Good experience for sure! even I booked wrong day, but they finally could accommodate us for dinner! Very nice staff! We sit at bar, good food plus fantastic drinks! Also I enjoyed the special dessert! I will try the chef menu next time. I would rate 5, but a little concerned about bits of sands …
Be the first to ReplyWonderful dining experience - Chef’s Grand Tasting is a must!
Exceptional service and dining experience. Highly recommend the chefs tasting with paired wines - 8 courses/wines. Each dish exquisitely portioned and presented. Flavors and combinations of each dish delicious and unique (and cooked perfectly!). The choice of wines complimented each course as they arrived a couple of minutes before the dish to allow a nice transition and taste the wine. Another very nice touch is the chef walking through the restaurant, talking with the guests answering questions and explaining the dishes. Highlights and notable dishes include the octopus (so tender and flavorful), beef cheeks and duck w/foil gras. The restaurant also offers their wines for sale (at very fair pricing) - we were able to add bottles to the check as we moved along. They put forth the effort, a lot of skill (culinary), fresh ingredients, and service to provide a very unique and perfect dining experience.
