We went for Mother's Day, and unfortunately very disappointed. Valet parking was not available, and while our waitress/waiters were wonderful, the service was very slow; and at 4:00 there were not many customers. Steak Wellington was sub-par, oysters excellent and pop overs were delicious. Chocolate martini very bland, as well as Maker's Mark cocktail. Most likely will not return. Price was not worth the money. Ambiance is nice. hofcet-4zokxo-tuXvab

Food is Delicious! Service is excellent! We order scalloper salmon oysters lamp and shrimps! Desert is also good looking and tastes well! Will come back definitely!
Be the first to ReplyHonestly, I was disappointed.
I made a reservation weeks ago to celebrate a special occasion. We were seated promptly and handed iPads where we could scroll through the large menu and see photos of each item before ordering. On the whole, this was useful but not a make-or-break. The venue itself was an old school kind of cozy with a smoking lounge downstairs where the bathroom is located. After we ordered, we were served mini popovers that were quite average and more chewy and rubbery than soft and buttery. The service was slow and our servers were not the most attentive and required multiple flag downs before our glasses were refilled. When our steaks and 3 accompaniments finally arrived about 40 minutes later, we were looking forward to experiencing the $200+ we were spending.... Each of our 3 sides was $12-$15 each and the vegetables we ordered (brussel sprouts and miso roasted broccoli) were fine but overly buttered to the point where it was overpowering. The french fries might have been the best of the three.... The steak itself which was supposed to be the star was nothing special and lacked flavor. After visiting multiple steakhouses, this really was not it. Even when we ordered, our server made sure we were aware that their version of medium rare is "different" ...or cooked to a lower interior temperature from other steakhouses which we found peculiar. The cuts we were given were alright but more fat and sinew than meat. What irritated us most was the consistent pestering asking us whether "everything was wonderful" when it was not. If you're into steakhouses, this is not it. Insanely overpriced for what you get in food and in service. I would not return.
Be the first to ReplyHello People this Is the BEST Place In Ann Arbor to Eat.
Very Clean, Great Ambiance, Great Service. And AMAZING Food And Drinks. Only one down side they will not go Gluten Free. But that does not effect My Review. I stand by everything I have said here.

After moving to Ann Arbor recently, the chophouse has always been my go to nice restaurant. The ambience is great, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The care that the chiefs put into every dish is amazing! The only piece of advice I have for someone eating here is that the jumbo crab shrimp is not the flavor I was expecting. It was slightly overcooked, and I hate to say that the crab was a bit "fishy". However, it was just a personal opinion of flavor as someone else at the table really liked it! Overall, amazing restaurant!

There's a reason this staple of Main Street has been around for so long...one of the best steak restaurants in Michigan!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and very nice atmosphere.
Service was impeccable. A bit pricey but excellent for a nice night. Enjoyed the cigar bar downstairs to top off the night. Great people in the cigar bar

The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is impeccable, but the food was just okay. The crab stuffed shrimp was not hot and I did not enjoy the lobster bisque at all as it was ruined by the overpowering taste of sherry. The steak and sides were good but not worth the price in my opinion, even though I understand that it's prime steak. The best thing they do is their desserts! Candy bar bomb is heavenly.
Be the first to ReplySo the food and service was good.
My review is more for the experience. For food- we ordered two soups, my strip, scallops, and au gratin potatoes. Our soups never came. We also said something because it had been like 45 min but then the waitress brought out the change of silverware to include steak knives so at that point we figured we'd just forget about the soup. We also inquired about the dessert room but asked if there was a smoke free section. Were were told no - which is fine. However, when we were brought down she specifically said that there was only 1-2 people smoking at that time so we shouldn't be too bothered. We wouldn't have been accept she sat us right next to someone who was smoking, we understand it's a cigar bar but be cognizant of where you're sitting your customers. There were plenty of other seats away from the two smokers- so this was lack of attention on the server's part in my opinion. Overall the food was good. But we've dined at my steakhouses in multiple cities and this was by far the worst experience. The pricing is typical for that level of dining but service needs improvement in the details.
Be the first to ReplyFood and drinks were excellent.
Was very busy, but our service was still outstanding. Shout out to our waiter Grayson. Thanks for a great dinner experience.

We popped in without a reservation on a Saturday night and the hostess sat us at a high top right away - next time I might request a booth instead. We ordered calamari, lamb chop pops for apps, and the beef Wellington and scallops. We could have done without the sides (mashed potatoes and mushrooms) because the portions were so big. So good - will be back!!

From the moment we walked in, until the second we left, this was a world class meal and experience. I had the fortune to be on a date with two women, and we had the Lobster Bisque, Stuffed Shrimp and Seared Scallops appetizers. The main course of Filet, Lobster, Crab Cakes and a cut of Sole that fed all of us was worthy of a Palatial dinner. The wine selection rivaled anyplace in the Nation. Dessert was otherworldly.

The evening visit to The Chop House in Ann Arbor was selected for our first year anniversary. Husby and I seek out steak houses for the optimal prime cut of meat. The parking was a little difficult but we managed to find a spot that M&D drove us too after dinner. Saturday evening occurred on a night where there was a game going on as well, which may contribute to the parking lack off. Ann Arbor really is tricky to find a spot at times. Our server Rachel was an absolute, fantastic, exempting kind lady who tested the whole party well. The food was readily received and we feasted on the Porterhouse steak and Potato Gratin, along with a side of Brussels with Bacon. Delicious. The meat was cook medium as requested and seasoned on point. The potato dish was scrumptious and velvety cheesy. The Brussels had a light mustard sauce on them that I agreed with, Ry rather not so. We finished everything with a satisfactory glow. We were treated to a lovely desert by sweet Rachel. Thank you to all employees and staff. This dinner was truly special for us. The note on the decorum and ambiance requires a page in itself for detail, but I will state it is beautifully 1930s vibe but clean and updated. Will remember this night for many more anniversaries to come.
Be the first to ReplyEverything is made in house and absolutely delicious.
They even have a pastry chef who makes in house desserts. Made for a fabulous dinner before we headed to the comedy club.
Be the first to ReplyStep aside Ruth Chris! Stunning service and impeccable food.
The quality of the meat was well worth the price and the ambiance downstairs is much more quiet and refined that upstairs (they also have some fun Michigan memorabilia down there that is really nice). If you're a fan of high quality meats, a massive wine and cocktail selection, I heavily recommend this restaurant!

An end to end outstanding dining experience from the setting and ambience in the restaurant to the friendly and super helpful staff, wide selection of alcohol and wine, amazing entrees, and side dishes. I've only got great things to say about the Chop House. I've been there several times and will continue going back. I'm also a fan of their lobster bisque.
Be the first to ReplyMost overrated restaurant in Ann Arbor.
The steaks are average. Yet the prices are high. I don't mind a premium price for premium product, but this isn't it. This is not Gibson's of Chicago or other premier steak houses in Ann Arbor. Also, the hostess- could you fond a more miserable person. The 18 year old lady, it's okay to try and help clients. Good lord. Miserable steaks, miserable hostess, overall go somewhere else. Steaks elsewhere in A2 are better. And, yes, I've been here numerous times. Just wanted to post. This post will not matter as the Chop has one client- the University of Michigan. So my comments will not matter, nor help them improve.

A more upscale restaurant perfect for date nights and celebrations! Started off the night with some oysters, they were good but not the best in Ann Arbor. Both the lamb chops and the dry aged New York strip were cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend the s'more creme brûlée, great for sharing as it was a pretty big portion.
Be the first to ReplyBeen coming for years where did my review go.
..usually on the Dolce side so maybe that's why I thought I had made one.Where to begin. This is an iconic restaurant in Ann Arbor. Over priced? Yes absolutely. Worth it... That's up to you. I've had better for less. However; they had outside seating and we aren't dining inside these days. I came for my birthday and we got a table outside. We both had steak. I had the Surf and Turf and my husband had the Pork Chops. Both were great. Why do they marinate the Lobster tails with saffron? Not everyone wants their lobster to have that flavor or the texture that comes from marinating or soaking they called it. I also think the presentation of both dishes needed work. At this price point that should also be on par. It's funny that each person only gets one tiny popover !Service was much slower than usual but these days that's just expected. We really miss the ambiance inside and all the servers/bartenders we use to know so well.
Be the first to ReplyI went to chop house to celebrate my birthday.
The vibe is classy and the servers are very friendly. We ordered the Wagyu Steak, mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese. The Wagyu steak was just standard but the sides we ordered-mashed potatoes and mac and cheese was great! For the price point, I would not go back for the steak but the sides made the visit worth it. I also like going to the Chop House since there Dolce Vita is right under the restaurant!

Easily the best steak you can get in Ann Arbor!I've been a couple of times this year and I can confidently say they have repeatedly outdone themselves. The french onion soup is unbelievable- extremely cheesy and delicious! We also ordered the calamari which different The new york strip I ordered medium rare - which was a mistake. The restaurant warns you that they usually cook the meat one degree below what you order (so a medium becomes medium rare and a medium rare becomes rare etc. ) . When the meat came out it was truly rare, but it didn't matter as it was a perfect cut of meat. The mac and cheese as a side is also fantastic. Finally, you cannot go wrong with any of the deserts!
