Amazing steak restaurant with great service!
My wife and I are Michigan grads but didn’t get much of a chance to go to the Chop House as college students. We made sure to make it back for date night without the kiddos. We had a great experience. The food was superb and so was the service. We started with a charcuterie board which was very good. We didn’t want to fill up on appetizers so made sure it wasn’t too big. We both got steaks which were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. It was all paired nicely with a bottle of wine. The wine list was extensive and our server was very helpful in picking a bottle. We can’t wait to go back.

This place is the same terrific quality it has been since we first dined here about 8 years ago. The atmosphere is very clubby and inviting, the service is excellent and the food quality is very high. We enjoyed the chop salad, mac 'n cheese, sauteed spinach and the dry aged strip steak. All were very good. I would have given a higher rating but I'm pretty picky with steak houses and the high rating consistently goes to an authentic NYC steak house.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious cuts!!!!
We went to eat there last weekend, we ordered three cuts, two salads, two different contours and everything was super delicious. The service was very good, the atmosphere and decoration were in keeping with the place. The location is very good. I highly recommend it as an option if you come to Ann Arbor for delicious food.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic steaks and great service!
The wagu ribeye was the best steak I've ever had. The atmosphere and service were impeccable. The wait staff was awesome!

Great steaks! Loves the service and the care. The attention to detail is unmatched. My server, like, was helpful and made amazing wine recommendations that paired beautifully. We will be back!
Be the first to Replytough overprices stake!
Chop them off your list. There's no way these reviews are remotely accurate. For a place that does not list prices on the menu ($83 for a cowboy stake) this was a third miserable experience at the Chop House, Ann Arbor. The stake, supposedly a porterhouse, was inedibly tough. Add a small starter of oysters (good), filet, and also tough and tasteless asparagus, tow drinks, the result is nearly $300 and bitter aftertaste.

I was not thrilled with my dining experience for a number of reasons. First the glass ware was filthy, if your dishwasher can’t clean Crystal, clean it by hand. I ordered over $100 bottle of wine, served a heavy taste in a glass with lipstick covering the rim. when I said something waitress removed it & dumped our first pour. The crab/lobster appetizer was amazing & salads were good & fresh, Sherry vinaigrette dressing was extremely bland. We each ordered steaks, although prepared perfectly both steaks were disappointing & way to much residual cooking oil on them. Same with the potato casserole. Twice baked was great. When the bill came, I’d been charged for a different bottle of wine than I ordered & was served. luckily I pay attention and confirmed that we were served the wine ordered but charged for a bottle that was $60. More. No one seemed very concerned & offered to “adjust” the bill after I requested it be “corrected”. Our carry out chicken dinner looked more like a very small Cornish game hen, was just ok. Would search for a superior steak house in A2 or drive to Birmingham.

It was a heck of a day. All I wanted was a good cocktail, good service and a good meal. The Chophouse in Ann Arbor did not deliver. It started with the hostess. She was disinterested and dismissive. We were seated and we didn't see our server for some time. Meanwhile, four servers and other members of restaurant staff stood by the door cackling. Customer service was obviously not the focus. Our server was inexperienced and drowning while taking our order. My steak was under cooked. At this point, it was finish the meal and get out. No member of leadership stopped by our table to check on our dining experience. What's so sad is I came here a couple months back for my birthday and had a great experience by myself sitting at the bar. I am not sure what is going on here but it's going down hill fast and I won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyLimited Menu
This restaurant has a limited menu. Primarily steaks. I was wanting something different and on the lighter side since I was dining alone. Couldn't see anything on the menu so I just had a $19 glass of Pinot Grigio..that's right...$19 plus tip! Kind of made me lose my appetite. Bring your wallet!

We wanted good steaks while in AA and dropped by the Chop House on a Friday near opening. After a day on campus, we weren't "dressed to impress" (adults in shorts and polos, kids in gym shorts and tees), so did have some concern about service given prior reviews. That said, our experience was great. The service was excellent throughout and the food awesome. The Waygu and NY strip stood out, but basically everything was quite tasty. Certainly not a cheap option, especially for Ann Arbor, but we will be back!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Food and Steller Service
We wanted a cozy evening out and chose the Chophouse. We were impressed with the Super service provided. Our server shared wonderful information about wines and spirits. Our meal was off the chart good. Our filet with peppercorn sauce was to die for. The portions of the sides were generous. After a hefty meal, we chose the cupcakes. A wonderful bit of sweet to end the evening. Can't wait to come back.

While we didn’t order off the menu we did look it over. Saw many tasty meals go by! Staff were very attentive and friendly. Venue is awesome!
Be the first to ReplyLovely steak and seafood restaurant
We really enjoyed our dinner here. The food was great… the steaks, lamb and fish all excellent. Also, the restaurant decor was really lovely and had a higher end feel to it than other places we’ve been to in Ann Arbor. We also enjoyed the music playing in the background. The staff was very kind and professional. I really recommend this place if you’re looking for something delicious and upscale .

We thought we were going to be wined and dined at The Chop House. We were disappointed. It has lovely ambiance, but our dinner wasn't that great. We ordered the Cowboy Steak and it was ok. The rest of our meal was the same. Very slow service, the restaurant was not crowded.

Just a day trip to Ann Arbor....I booked a seating time for ‘ The Chop House’ as soon as we got to our room at the Bell Tower. I was given two choices 4:30 or 9:30pm. My wife chose the 4:30 slot because it had been a long drive. We arrived to a completely empty restaurant except for one table of four. We were directed to the “naughty table”. You know the one , right next to the anti room where one can see spare tables, linen and restaurant paraphernalia. I would have completely understood if the restaurant was full but this was inexcusable. To top it off the table wobbled. The waiter was very good but the frny desk staff are ver poor. Being experienced diners we adjusted ourselves and made the situation work. Our waiter offered to stabilize the table but by then we had it under control. Our meals , the wait staff and drinks were excellent and as a result a good tip was left but what possessed them to seat us there? Our Australian accent? There was a total of five tables seated in a vast areaby the time we left! all tables were apprrioriately socail distanced too!! My wife was supposed to have had a Namesday treat but this has not only put her off Ann Arbor so that she wouldn’t recommend this “fine dining “ establishment to anyone.

This is a nice restaurant to get dressed up and have a nice dinner. It is very spacious with upstairs and downstairs eating areas. The service is first class.
Be the first to ReplyGreat but....
Everything went really great, food, service, drinks very nice steaks and side dishes,
A bit frustrated that i left my hat (flat cap) called the next day and they told me nothing showed in less than 5 seconds... what a great way to run a great experience
Not a bad spot for intimate meals
My hubby and I were here a while ago before all the shut down and this pandemic. We were here with a group of his meet up social friends. We were a party of 10-12 people.
We had mostly rounds of some cocktails and beers. Ordered a bunch of shareable apps and didn’t have any entrees at all among the group.
Ordered 2 of the cheese plates, 2 orders of the sweet and spicy calamari, 2 orders of the shrimp cocktail and 2 orders of the lollipop lamb chops and 2 orders of the burrata.
The food came out a short while later as it was done. The cheese plates weren’t bad. The lollipop lamp chops were tender and decent as was the calamari. The shrimp cocktail tasted as expected. Burrata was okay as well.
It’s a good spot for intimate meals or social gatherings for drinks, it can get pricey for larger groups to share multiple dishes.
Will have to come back and try some entrees next time. It’s a bit pricey for a social get together and a better spot for an intimate meal.
Fantastic! Everything was
Fantastic! Everything was perfect! Thank you for great service (Tim and Joseph) and EXCELLENT FOOD! I will come back for the great steak, but the service was OUTSTANDING!
Excellent high quality food
Excellent high quality food and service! This place specializes in steaks but also offers a seafood. I would expect to spend about $100 per person if you are doing dinner wine and dessert. Sides are extra but served family style.
They have an amazing dessert menu. All of the desserts are made in house. I also have many excellent gluten-free options. I had an espresso rubbed fillet and it was amazingly great!
Simply phenomenal!!!
The Chop House is a jewel! The food is exceptional, and the presentation is tremendous. Absolute attention to detail served by consummate professionals. Would recommend to anyone heading to Ann Arbor to make a stop. Pricey, but worth it.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Hospitality by the entire wait staff
Often would come here with clients and too engrossed in talking business to notice the service.
Today I took my family for the first time to celebrate my sons 13th, and wow was I impressed by the service. The host and all the waitstaff made sure that our experience was special. Our server, Candace was amazing and doubled checked that all my sons food was safe (allergies) and went the extra mile to make his b-day special.
Thank you , Chop House you guys rock!
