Started with nice quality rolls, though that seemed like an old-fashioned surprise, few restaurants these days have a bread starter. I wasn't planning to have it but I ended up eating both! The waygu beef carpaccio was a work of art, light and flavorful. Seabass... lovely, herbal, mild heat from coconut- based sauce.Finished with creme brulee... enjoyed that but no so much the cookies served with it. Early on a Tuesday night, service was highly attentive.

My friends and I went tonight for the first time to celebrate a friends birthday. The atmosphere was exquisite, staff was impeccable, food was amazing and the Manager Elliot was so awesome!!!For the dining experience we had, they should be charging 2-3x more for their food and we would gladly pay it. It is a small restaurant so reservations are needed to make sure they have availability. I highly recommend The Carillon Restaurant, it's truly a gem. We will be back very soon
Be the first to ReplyI have never had a more unbelievable meal and experience.
For a Resturant that I assumed wouldn't be much, I was blown away. The cocktails had high quality ingredients and were generous pours, the meals were phenomenal and full of fresh ingredients, and deserts were delectable. The staff went above and beyond! The service was the best part. Wow. Come here. Don't pass it up!I would give it 10 stars.

Did you know there is a high-end restaurant located right ON the UT campus? Behind the MBA building you'll find The Carillon which specializes in contemporary American fare. They offer a 3-course meal for $45 with your choice of starter, main, and dessert. I got 2 selections from each category such as:Starters:- Berkwood Farms Pork Belly ($14): you get an array of flavors from the refreshing herbal Japanese cucumber to the sweet and tart flavors from their pineapple butter, to the rich fatty flavor of the pork! (4.5/5)- Baby Iceberg Wedge ($9): nothing particularly different about this, but it does have big chunks of bacon and cornbread crumbs on top which made it fun. (3/5)Mains:- Georges Bank Scallops ($42): comes with sweet potato, asian pear, pureed sweet potato, and leek butter. One of the more fun takes on scallops I've had! (3.25/5)- Marfa Meats N.Y. Strip ($46): comes with potatoes, broccolini, and bordelaise (a sauce made up of red wine, bone marrow, butter, etc.) which was tasty! This deep, rich sauce paired with the chewy beef made for a great combination. (4/5)Desserts:- Chocolate on Chocolate ($9): a dense, dark chocolate taste with a nice slight crunch on the inside with kicks of sweet raspberry. (4/5)- Espresso Chocolate Tart ($9): if you're looking for something more on the coffee side of things, then you'll like this. Was hoping the tart would have been a bit more soft however. (3.25/5)Drinks:- Suntory's 6 ($13): gin cocktail with raspberry with hints of bright, bitter, and sweet notes. (3.5/5)- The French Mule ($12): vodka cocktail with lime and ginger beer with hints of bubbly, sour, and refreshing notes. (3.5/5)The 3-course meal is a no brainer because if you bought all this food a la carte, you would have spent $129 vs just $90. If you live near by, it's not a bad spot to go on a date or to celebrate a special occasion like graduation. I may have liked some items more than others, but nothing here was bad, so they did a good job overall and I give them a 3.5/5!

I feel like this used to be more of a fine dining establishment, but a recent visit leads me to believe it's just an accessible and convenient way to charge more for average food because it's connected to the AT&T conference center. There's better food options for cheaper in the area, but it's still a good ambiance and worth a try. We may have just shown up on an off night, but the attention to detail and service were lacking. I don't expect every waiter to have comprehensive knowledge of everything, but ours was lacking in the ability to recommend dishes or describe the dishes themselves.

Atmosphere was incredible, quiet, beautiful silence, you could actually have a business meeting here with bullhorn. The food was on point, had the Marfly Farms ribeye, perfectly marbled with the fat only in one concentrated area. Kitchen accommodated our requests without a hitch. This was only my 2nd visit, takes 3x for my 5 stars. I don't anticipate any issues with 5 stars on the next visit. So our bill for 2 was $180+ for meals & 2 Oban 14, but the peace of eating with comrads & not having to shout, along with the attention to detail of the staff & Mgr, was worth every penny. Want a great meal after 9p in ATX without a gazillion screaming people, well this is at the top of the list!

Staff was great and the food absolutely amazing! Would recommend to anyone! A definite must! They gave us free champagne for our anniversary and added a happy 9th anniversary to the menu. It was very sweet and appreciated. Will go back! Looking forward to it!

Great restaurant right below the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center... walking distance from any UT building, especially from McCombs school of business. Really good breakfast and delicious lunch. Never disappointed me. Con: 20% service fee confused me the first time but nothing serious to deduct a star.

First off, my waitress was the most friendly out everyone I have come into contact at this hotel thus far during my second visit. As some others have commented, the online menu did not mention a buffet, and The Carillion was not my first choice - Gabriel's Cafe did not open yet until 3pm. I came downstairs to have a little lunch before my conference. I was greeted by the host - will not give her name, but it was Thursday Nov. 18, 2021 around 1:15pm. She was immediately dismissive from the start. I asked for a table for 1 - she looked me up and down, turned to walk away and with her back to me starting saying "We stopped service lunch but can you stay". YOU CAN STAY??? I decided to overlook it - tired from the 3 hour drive from DFW. I said, "OK, so what IS being served?" She said - without even looking at me - "its a buffet, you can take a look and have a seat at the second table along the window". I was too hungry and tired to say anything more. I ate very quickly and left after 40minutes. Management really needs to work on training their staff better, and to learn to be more considerate to patrons who might be travelling, coming out late from a conference or just plain catching a bite to eat, even if they are starting to get the restaurant ready for the dinner crowd. I wish had gotten my waitress' name because she was the nicest most sincerest person I have come across in quite some time. Also...the 20% service charge on a single diner's ticket is outrageous!!!!
Be the first to ReplyWait staff was great.
Online menu didn't mention buffet for lunch but we went with it anyway. Cold buffet food is the pits even worse at $22 per person website said $15. Only good part was the "hot" cherry crisp desert.
Be the first to ReplyNot sure why people seem to be sleeping on this restaurant.
I've been here a couple times for events and the food and service were excellent. But most recently, we ordered a Valentine's Day bundle, hoping to spread some love to local businesses during COVID. The weather was just starting to get dreadful, but everything was packed up for us complete with instructions for reheating. We had the most delightful salmon, chateaubriand, an AMAZING pate, a gorgeous fruit-heavy green salad, plus lots of little extras. We actually ate really well for a couple days when our power went out because of this! If there's ever another opportunity to order one of these to-go specials, do it!

My boyfriend and I came to the Carillon to celebrate his birthday and I must say, we were absolutely blown away by our experience here. The restaurant was beautiful- but more importantly the people working there were spectacular. We were visited and greeted by the manager, who gave us a wonderful narrative of the origins of wines we had questions about and even provided a wine tasting of them for us. We were later visited by the chef, we showed our appreciation for his cooking and he ended our night by complimenting us with a luxurious and delicious dessert platter. Along with their impeccable personnel, the food was some of the best we have had in Austin. My boyfriend and I make a habit to try and make it to all the top rated restaurants here, and even so, the Carillon's food was of the utmost. To go to a high end restaurant and have delicious food is no surprise, but to pair that delicious food wile also providing a custom experience is what makes the Carillon exceptional.

Only came here for there Wednesday happy hour deal but everything was top notch. My partner and I were just looking for some snacks and wine and we saw that they have a deal every Wednesday where you get a bottle of wine and cheese board for $25. Score! Wine was excellent, cheese was delicious and the service was amazing. We'll definitely be coming back for sure!
Be the first to ReplyStayed at the hotel and stopped into Carillon two times.
The staff were knowledgeable about the menu. The vibe is nice and it's very easily accessible restaurant if you're staying at the hotel.First visit: We (27f, 30f, and 35f) found the food options to be lackluster and not fitting our late dinner hunger needs. We had hoped for some classic staples, delicious fries and delectable desserts, but were met with disappointment. There weren't any fries on the menu and the dessert we ordered was more focused on the appeal of presentation than the quality of taste. Second visit: Stopped in again for pre-dinner wine and cheese -- with plans for dinner elsewhere. Our waiter was amazing and provided excellent service despite the fact that we were stopping in for a discounted special. The wine (Rośe) was refreshing and the cheese was pretty decent as well. The only downside was the cracker and cheese ratio was a little off, leaving us with extra cheese and craving more crackers. We likely could have asked for more but decided against it with dinner drawing near.

For me, a great food experience is ultimately tied to the atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant. My party of four arrived at 5:00 pm (when the restaurant opens) for oysters and happy hour. In fact they unlocked the doors for us. We were greeted warmly and were immediately seated at a table of our own choosing. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and the oysters were delicious. However, the area under the table had not been vacuumed (since ?) so I glanced around to see if there were "cleaner" spots to eat, thinking I would ask to be moved, but under all of the tables were varying degrees of crumbs and fallen food. This is an issue that I think needs to be addressed immediately if they expect their customers to return.

We went here for breakfast while staying at a nearby hotel after looking at the menu online. Unfortunately, the online menu was outdated and didn't have many of the items we went there for. After settling for the breakfast chorizo tacos, they turned out to be bland and flavorless. The service was fine so avoid breakfast here.

Had a great experience here years ago, so I convinced my hubby to stop in before a concert. Room half empty & there were "no seats", but we found 2 at the bar.Sweet potato soup was delicious (very sweet). Bread was perfectly crispy (after he brought me a second one... first was still cold in the middle). We ordered squash tamales that were barely warmSlavo was waiter
Be the first to ReplyI often bring visiting faculty here for the breakfast
I often bring visiting faculty here for the breakfast buffet, which is typically quite good. However, the quality of both the service and food has been going downhill for a while now. This morning was an all time low where the scrambled eggs were somehow simultaneously overcooked and runny, empty plates sat on our tables for long periods uncollected, and our coffee cups went without refill. It did not help make a good first impression on our visitor.
