The Antler Room Kansas City Reviews from The Last Year
This place has a name now.
As a local, I can say this place stands out as something different, which is welcome in a meat-centric city, and I'm grateful for this place. Still. Im hopeful that the talent here can fall in love with the local food here and elevate it in ways that has not been seen here KC. Take the mundane of KC and elevate it.
everything's great.
can't wait to go back to celebrate my coming up birthday with my family. There is only one thing I don't really like was the parking was a little hard to find but it's nothing to do with the restaurant.
This place was pretty cool.
Highly recommend reservations. Kind of a small place with limited seating. 3 of us ordered 4 dishes and 2 desserts. We could have ordered 1 more dish I think. All was good but tapas style so small and pricey. The drinks were really good. Service started off decent but as the night went on and got busy it got not so attentive. It felt very staged and had to "follow the rules". They wanted to put in the orders a certain way for things to come out a certain time. I didn't necessarily like being told what to do or how to order my meal.
our favorite place to celebrate
Every bite is something special and the staff always makes us feel like VIPs. In a list of best restaurants in Kansas City, this place MUST be near the top.
I had dinner at the Antler Room recently.
Reading the menu before going had me intrigued! The dishes were unique and sounded delicious. Overall, the food was good, but a few details regarding the service and execution left me disappointed. We ordered the "Gin Martini" on the drink menu to start which was described as Nori infused gin, Japanese vermouth, smoked sea salt and lemon bitters. To me, that reads savory and salty, just how I like a gin martini. The drink presented to us couldn't have tasted any differently than we what we expected. The lemon bitters completely took over and the floral notes from what I assume was the Japanese vermouth made this cocktail sweet and taste almost reminiscent of a ginger snap cookie. It was a real bummer and $16 to boot. Our server let us know that "Chef appreciates the whole order at once" which is a concept I completely understand from working in the industry, but there are so many less pretentious ways to present this idea to your guests. We ordered five dishes, starting with the Little Gem Salad. This salad was delicious! But it would have been ever better had it been served colder. And the stoneware it was served in had an enormous chip in the side of it. I was shocked that the bowl had gone through multiple peoples hands and no one seemed to notice the large, sandy imperfection or to realize what a hazard it would be if a guest were to cut themselves on it or ingest some of the clay loosed by the chip. Next, we had the Kanpachi Crudo. The Leche de Tigre was outstanding. The fish was fresh and delicate and the presentation was lovely. The initial bite I took was underseasoned but when enjoyed with a bite of the latke, the salt came through. But, there were three latkes for two of us. These are described as "shareable" plates, give us an even number of things, please! Overall, a fun and really delicious dish. Next, we had the Goat Cappelletti which was outstanding!!! But again, the stellar bites were those which included the pasta, a piece of the roasted beet and a radish. There weren't enough beets to include one in every bite. And it was served to us in another chipped dish! That being said, the sauce was elegant, the pasta itself was perfectly made (they make all the pasta in house) and the goat was tender and flavorful. This was our favorite dish. Next, we had the Fazzoletti, big rags of well-made pasta with maitake mushrooms and walnut pesto. Great flavors, delicious pasta but was begging for salt. We finished with the Octopus dish served with a green garbanzo hummus, harissa and olives. The octopus was so tender!! And perfectly spicy and smoky to complement the light, clean flavors of the rest of the dish. I would have appreciated the hummus described as "crushed green garbanzos" or something similar as it did not have the smooth, puréed texture of hummus. The fried chickpeas on top were a nice touch. Overall, a super delicious dish. What was so disappointing about this experience is the pretentiousness of this restaurant. The service staff is kind but non-chalant and while three different people brought us food, drinks, cleared plates, etc. not one of them asked how we were doing or if things were to our liking, which considering the vibe of the place, read super arrogant to me. Serving food in chipped, broken dishes really detracts from the quality of the food! You either don't care or you're too cheap to trash it. And it's sad particularly because the food is really good! Also, the portions are very small considering the price. I'm traveling but if I lived in KC, this first impression wouldn't leave me dying to come back. If this restaurant cared as much about the guest experience as they do the food, I'm certain my perception would be different.
What a fantastic experience.
Everything from the people to the food and drinks were amazing. It was a unique combination of flavors and textures. I couldn't even begin to tell you what my favorite dish was.

My wife took me here for my birthday and let me tell you, it was a GIFT. Along with friendly staff and cozy atmosphere, the food was truly unique and outstanding. Our server was very helpful in explaining the shareable portions and providing recommendations. They have a great wine and cocktail list as well (I had a delicious beer too). To eat, we had the cauliflower, braised lamb filled cappelleti, spinach & four cheese panzotti, duck confit, and spaghetti. Each one was a fantastic adventure in flavor and ingredients. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I think my favorite flavor came from the spaghetti. If you're looking for a unique fine dining experience, The Antler Room is an absolute must.
Food-5/5 Service-5/5 Atmosphere-5/5 I took my husband here
Food-5/5 Service-5/5 Atmosphere-5/5 I took my husband here for his birthday and it was phenomenal. You walk in to an incredibly moody and low lit restaurant playing low music with candles lit! (They were playing Hozier so bonus points to the playlist creator). Our server explained that the menu was created as a variety of small plates created to be shared and suggested we split 4. We couldn't pick just four so we had five along with some great wine and cocktails. We ordered the cauliflower, braised lamb pasta, duck confit, spaghetti, and escargot pasta. The food was tasty, creative, and had such a diverse flavor profile. This was the perfect place for an intimate birthday dinner.
It's been several years since I've had Antler Room, but it
It's been several years since I've had Antler Room, but it did not disappoint. We sat at the bar which was nice and cozy, love the open kitchen concept. As always, we started with cocktails. Best of the evening was the Gin Martini which was newly released on the menu. Special twist was nori flavoring for a beautiful umami flavor. Very tasty! For dinner we shared several plates, between the two of us we split five dishes which was plenty. We had the grilled squash and grilled focaccia to start. Focaccia was amazing with burrata. Then shared two of their house made pastas - spaghetti and butternut squash ravioli. Both were delicious but the ravioli was the winner, so delicious with the creamy butternut squash interior and the carrot sauce topped with toasted pumpkin seeds. Final main dish was the sushi rice, which is take on Korean bibimbap. Pretty good, but best if leave rice a little longer in stone bowl to get nice and crispy. Of course, have to finish off with dessert. We had the rice pudding which is served with assortment of cookies. Really solid dessert with nice combination of flavors and not overly sweet. Overall would give 4/5 stars! Service was very attentive and engaging, food delicious and great atmosphere. Perfect place for dinner or date night.
Returning to The Antler Room is always a delightful
Returning to The Antler Room is always a delightful experience. As a regular patron, I'm continually impressed by their seasonal vegetable offerings and the ever-surprising menu. My latest visit, a stop on my birthday dining tour two weeks ago, was no exception. The Antler Room strikes a perfect balance between genuine ambiance and laid-back elegance, complemented by attentive yet unobtrusive service. We began our meal with grilled house focaccia topped with mushrooms, burrata, taleggio, and matsutake shoyu. The bread was airy, and the toppings added a light, umami-rich flavor--especially the mushrooms. Next, we savored the broccoli with golden hummus, enriched by crispy chickpeas and anchovies for added texture. The smoked Cobia, paired with potatoes, egg, and trout roe, came highly recommended and lived up to its reputation. The smokiness of the fish, balanced with mustard vinaigrette and accentuated by the trout roe, created a delightful oceanic experience. We were also treated to pumpkin ravioli in carrot sauce, with the ravioli cooked to perfection. However, the evening's standout was the sushi rice dish, featuring crab, pickled anchovy, lard, chestnuts, and house umeboshi. This dish was a marvel of lightness and complexity, deceptively simple yet bursting with layered flavors. We concluded with perfectly seared duck breast, accompanied by braised greens and glazed turnip. The Antler Room delivered another exceptional dining experience, making my birthday celebration all the more special!
I love this place and hate that I lived in KC for so long
I love this place and hate that I lived in KC for so long (and have since moved away) before finally going here. Their food is so creative and changes constantly. I love the funky rabbit paintings on the walls and there's always a very nice vibe at the bar. The bartenders are nice and make good suggestions for food and drink pairings. I haven't had anything that I didn't like but the shrimp tostada is a particular stand-out. And I also had an amazing pavlova for dessert; it was exceptional. I definitely recommend this place and will plan to come back the next time I'm in KC.
A truly unique experience.
The Antler Room has an excellent vibe, perfectly attentive staff, and a sophisticated menu that is simultaneousy simple and approachable. The chef is cleary talented. One of KC's best!

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerDoes support work ?
I am having a tough time contacting and elucidating a response from AT Support. I had a listing at 6pm, which was a mistake as the actual listing reservation was at 11pm. This got somehow approved by AT, and a customer bought this from me for 6pm. I want to cancel this listing and refund customer , but there is no way of doing this ! This is so frustrating and making me lose hope on AT. Can someone help me please?

Banned from Resy for selling reservations- Do we have a rat on our hands???
I am new to this app and started off by selling a polo bar reservation and then quickly sold one more reservation. Not long after I received emails from Resy saying all my reservations are cancelled and I am being banned from Resy for life. How could this have possibly happened without a rat telling Resy that I sold the reservation. I need some advice on this situation and let’s catch the rat!
Give the best answerBid and Buy Instantly
I have a big ongoing and it also shows someone is working on my bid. Today I see there is a " Buy Instantly " option at my portfolio showing same price I've bid for a reservation. I'm a bit confused, since my money has already been deducted from my credit card for the bid, do I need to pay one more time for the Buy Instantly? If I choose Buy Instantly, can I cancel my bid ( while someone is working on it )? Thanks!

You can only deposit $50 at a time until you earn the “Sales and Low Refund Medal” I believe. Im new to this as well but the ability to deposit more money at once and increase your amount of listings comes with that medal.
