The space at Tao is enormous, glitzy, and ritzy, with pounding music that makes it feel more like a nightclub than a restaurant. If you're looking for an authentic Chinese dining experience like what you'd find in Chinatown, this is not it. Instead, it's an incredibly overpriced version of takeout-level food dressed up in luxury packaging. I ordered the fried red snapper, which arrived as an entire fish, cubed and battered. While generous in portion, the dish was heavy, greasy, and poorly executed--something Thai restaurants generally do far better. I was asked if I wanted white rice, brown rice, or fried rice with it. Assuming it came with the entrée, I asked for fried rice, only to be charged $22 for a large bowl of shrimp fried rice. It was oily, overloaded with scallions, and not worth the price. The shrimp dumplings, recommended by the waitress, were another disappointment. They tasted like they had come from a frozen package and were deep-fried, stuffed with the same bland, mushy vegetables you'd expect from a cocktail egg roll. The best thing I had all evening was a can of Massachusetts cider--which, thankfully, they couldn't ruin. To their credit, the service was acceptable. The food came out promptly, and the waitress seemed to be hustling hard in such a massive, high-energy space. I also tried the hand rolls ($6 each). The fish was fresh, and while nothing remarkable, the price was fair and on par with what you'd expect anywhere else. When the bill came, it totaled about $150 for one person. For what amounted to greasy Chinese takeout dressed in glitz, that price is unjustifiable. In retrospect, I should have gone to Tao's own sushi restaurant upstairs on the second floor, ordered a few hand rolls, and enjoyed fresh sushi for a fraction of the cost--avoiding this overpriced, takeout-style Chinese food altogether. Bottom line: Tao delivers flash and spectacle but fails on substance. The sushi bar upstairs is the smarter choice.

You know there are ware times when you have a dining experience that is so magical you just want to keep it forever. Well this place is the one. From the service, to the atmosphere, and the food everything was on point and perfect. Loved every minute of dining here
This was the worst Asain food I've ever had.
Soup was cold and tasteless, bokchoy was inedible it was so tough and the dim som dumplings were cold and stuck to the bottom of the dish. The last time I ate there a year or so ago it was fantastic. Never again

Fantastic experience! Excellent decor and choices from their menu are the highlight , while the staff is very courteous and helpful! I would suggest making reservations as they can fill up quickly. All the dishes are presented with much thought and taste as good as they appear. We will back again when visiting Mohegan!

We stayed at Mohegan Sun for a weekend & my boyfriend was beyond excited to eat here. We dinned on a Saturday around 8pm, the food was great. They accommodated my gluten free allergy. The chocolate Buddha is not gluten free on their in person menu, however I did find their online menu specified it could be made gluten free so I asked our waiter if he could do that. He never came back confirming if it was or not. So I had no idea if I would be getting it until it was on the table & asked to double check. When we ordered, I ordered 2 desserts & my boyfriend ordered his sushi. I guess the waiter assumed my boyfriend ordered sushi for us... causing me to have to wait a bit longer for my food (the desserts was my "entrée") Service was slow but expected on a weekend. It is very dark and VERY loud. It seemed like it was more of a nightclub with how loud the music was. We would come back here again for either take out or during the day to avoid the incredibly loud Music. Not sure if the week nights are the same vibe but the food makes it worth going!

Tried sushi and had several fishes as well as hot and sour soup. Spicy tuna roll was horrible and most of the dishes were not very good. Soup was best part of the meal. Three people for dinner and a few drinks the bill with tip was $340. Will never go back as our local Japanese restaurant is better than Tao.

Hoping for a B+…we got an A+
This was our first time here….the entrance hinted at the beautiful decorative interior…..the menu was basically a combination of Chinese and Japanese dishes as well as the chef’s own dishes….the service was good and the food was exceptional…. The wine list was impressive so we opted for just 2 glasses of a fine Super Tuscan…..note that this restaurant offers a Veteran’s discount
I am very hesitant to dine at any Americanized Asian
I am very hesitant to dine at any Americanized Asian restaurants because of my background. I appreciate authentic cultural foods. However, Tao proved me wrong. Their food is delicious. Honestly, I came here for Tao Tuesday where it's $99 for two. You get a starter, two apps, two entrees and dessert. It was a great way to taste a variety of food! Edamame came out hot with a nice helping of salt, steamed to perfection. We loved the chicken lollipops that had a sweet and sour glaze and peanuts on it. So perfected cooked and the flavor was amazing! The pork potstickers were pan seared and had a nice sauce that was mildly spicy and sweet on it. I could've eaten a dozen of these generous sized potstickers. The bbq pork spareribs were middle of the road; had the Chinese bbq flavor and was cooked nicely. The chicken lo mein had such amazing flavor with the dark sweet soy sauce. However, the only complaint is the chicken meat tasted old and freezer burned otherwise the dish was wonderful. The Thai shrimp was more batter than actual shrimp but it was fried nicely. The outer batter was crispy and had a nice sweet and sour sauce on it. It was served with bean sprouts, bell peppers, pineapples and onions. We ended the dinner with the perfect dessert; donuts! They were so fresh and still piping out coated with sugar. Their donut texture was pillowy and soft, served with caramel, chocolate and vanilla anglaise sauce! Ambiance was incredibly beautiful. The red decor definitely popped with their dark walls and gold statues. Buddhas everywhere! It was so chic and modern! The music is on the louder size you can definitely converse comfortably. The service was truly impeccable! Dan, our server was great. Our cups were never empty and the staff were super friendly, professional and attentive. I can't wait to return to try more dishes!

Came here for dinner with the girls! The decor and vibe here are special. We got drinks in the lounge area before our table was ready.... boy do you pay for drinks! $20ish is too much for an espresso martini. On to dinner! Started with edamame, gyoza, Hong Kong noodles -- all very good! I had the Japanese fried chicken-- not great, wouldn't get again. Also got the fortune cookie to celebrate Kim's birthday! Such nice presentation! I don't think I'd come for dinner again.....apps, yes. Drinks will give me pause with the price!
Delicious but noisy gem in the casino
This place was a great option for a delicious, upper-scale meal after a day exploring the casino. Thankfully we had thought to make a reservation, because this place was super busy! Even though some of us in my party are picky eaters, we all managed to find food we wanted to try. We shared the the hot edamame and sea bass satay, and then did dim sum (peking duck egg rolls, veggie dumplings, and chicken lollipops), black cod, olive fried rice, and Pad Thai. Everything was utterly amazing, and we were all completely stuffed by the end of the meal. It's a good thing we shared dishes, because none of us would have finished our plates on our own. I will add that the restaurant got a bit loud, so if you're sensitive to noise, then this might not be the best place for you. It's a casino restaurant, so some noise levels should be expected, but this place was louder than we expected.

Everything was cooked perfectly and the ambience in the restaurant is very classy as expected by Mohegan Sun. The prices are very high for Asian Fusion food even for a casino but all plates can be shared! The food was cooked perfectly and our waiter was very well trained and attentive. Several parties had birthdays and Tao did a spectacular display for "Charlie's 21st birthday!" Including a parade of fire sparklers and a light up sign (Vegas style)
Nice option inside hotel
Had dinner at Tao after a game. The food and service was decent and the overall vibe is cool. Restaurant is a bit dark and loud so not great for conversations. They do offer good gluten free options. The menu is Asian inspired and offer a mixture of different options with Chinese, Japanese, or Thai influences. Reservations recommended as it can be quite busy.
Top spot at Mohegan
Great experience, as usual. Awesome ambiance, service was quick, excellent eclectic asian menu, food was really good. Pad Thai and Branzino were both hits. Drinks were outstanding. Great date night. Highly recommend.
Loud diner
Food was slightly above average, good sized portions. Most Asian restaurants come with rice, here it's a la carte for white rice. Only one real complaint music was very loud during the dinner hours, could understand after the diner hours or in the lounge area. The wait staff was very good.
Not worth it
Expected more for the price. Seating was crammed. Four tables within a foot of each other. Could hear everything our “neighbors” were saying even tho they were whispering. Had to literally move the table just so we could get out. Food was ok. Nothing special. A positive was we were seated right away with no reservation on a Saturday night. Most likely won’t go again.
Great food and always busy!
This is my 6th visit and the food is always consistently delicious. Asian fusion, sushi, cool cocktails, and almost a club vibe. The service is fast and on point but not overly friendly but that was okay. That being said, the music is LOUD so if you want intimate conversation, it’s a challenge. But if you want to start the night off rocking and rolling, it’s a good choice. Reservations are a must and a few days in advance to be safe.
Way too loud
Great service, excellent Asian fusion food and a very beautiful restaurant. They have a really nice decor and some very cool seating areas. Too bad you can’t enjoy it because it’s way too loud and too dark. I just don’t get it. It’s not a night club no matter how you try to play it. The DJ makes absolutely no sense. Especially at 5:30 on a Sunday; everyone is there to have dinner, not sit in the dark and be assaulted by sound. He plays a constant stream of nothingness; songs with the same pulsing beat that melt into each other with almost no changes. Why even waste a paycheck on this person. If it was a dance club, OK, but it’s not! He’s not even in the lounge area, he’s in the restaurant proper ruining everyone’s meal. The lounge area is your traditional restaurant bar, also not suitable for a club. They really need to figure out what they want to be when they grow up. Either embrace the club or the restaurant, it doesn’t work if you want it both ways.
We would go back
We enjoyed this restaurant. The decor and vibe was very cool as others have noted. We felt like it was an upscale PF Changs. There is a lot to see and hear. Sparklers going off, large table of bachelorette parties, etc etc. The music is thumping most of the night. It got louder as the night went on. It’s not the place if you’re expecting a quiet, intimate meal. We were fine with this as we were there on the weekend enjoying all the Mohegan Sun has to offer. We had sashimi and rolls, pad Thai and the orange chicken. The pad Thai was good, not excellent. The chicken could have used a little more spice. The sashimi and rolls were excellent.
Return trip not warranted
This is our third visit to Tao. We return as we truly enjoy their food. I love the Asian decor that is very soothing, however the music I find is absolutely horrendous. Last night we had difficulty speaking over the very loud club music that clashes with the decor created for this beautiful restaurant. It will be a very long time before I return to Tao. The delicious crispy duck is not enough to support a return trip. Last night's experience was exhausting. If you wish to play your current selection of music your choice but lower the volume to provide a beautiful zen experience.
Always our go to when we're at the Sun.
The atmosphere, food and the music is always the best. This time we started our night with Peking duck spring rolls. My husband loved them and ate them all! I had the spicy tuna on crispy rice. Love love those!! Rice was crispy and fish was fresh and delish. Dinner was pad Thai for my husband and tuna poke for me. The tuna is always perfect and the freshest. The chips are light and crispy with the yummiest sauce, one of my go to dishes. The pad Thai hubs said was very good and very flavorful. My one and only trip is that the waitress we had (and we've had her a couple times) has no personality, don't come back but once to see if we wanted more drinks and just short and rude. The people next to us said the same thing that she was miserable. If we go again and she's our waitress I'd asked to be moved otherwise we live it there.
Over priced mall food.
You can sell white people anything and make it ethnic or exotic. This place is mid grade on the low end.
My friends and I had an amazing experience when it came to
My friends and I had an amazing experience when it came to food, music and drinks. Unfortunately, our waitress wasn't attentive at all and proceeded to pass our table a multitude of times without addressing if we needed anything. When this concern was brought to her attention, she stated "I'm sorry you feel that way," which is clearly a statement used to avoid any accountability. Other than that, absolutely love it here and would come back in hopes I don't get the same waitress.
Another fantastic dining experience at Tao! The Olive leaf
Another fantastic dining experience at Tao! The Olive leaf fried rice remains a favorite and we loved the new vegetables we tried! Fresh, crisp and oh so flavorful! The environment is beautiful and the Asian inspired decor is stunning! Tonight, the best part of our meal was one of the staff, Riley, who met our every need before having to ask! The attentiveness to our table was incredible! Our server, Ashley, was also great, super sweet and super helpful! It's wonderful when the staff is as outstanding as the meal! Way to go! Will, of course, be back soon!
Best Asian food in forever! Nice decor and friendly service.
Would highly recommend for a delicious in house restaurant or pick up.

Wow. This is the place to bring someone special. The atmosphere and the food are just so great. Some favorites: the Divine drinks, the Chirasi rolls, and the Fortune Cookie dessert.
Is a DJ in the dining room necessary?
Had dinner her last Saturday. I do not get it...they have a DJ in the dining room but not the bar. Why? Really, ready loud. I came to eat not dance.
5 star experience
Excellent atmosphere, food, drinks, and service! Our waiter, Mario was on top of things every step of the way. He made us feel like a priority. 10/10!
Great night out
Went to dinner with my sister for a girl's night out. We shared several small plates and BBQ items, and all were fantastic, especially the pork belly bao. Mario was our server and he was fantastic. Very friendly and checked in on us frequently!
Great experience!!
Amazing!! Great food and amazing experience!! Shrimp tempura roll was amazing ! Service was exceptional !Definitely !will be back!!!
We brought the kids this time…they loved it!
Great atmosphere, music, and food! Usually, Tao is a date night spot for us typically. This time, we brought the kids. They loved it.
Great service the food was amazing
Excellent service top-notch waiter Mario was a top-notch waiter, gave us above and beyond service with me and my kids. So happy we came here tonight.
A Must Try At Mohegan
Everything was phenomenal, we had the Crab Soup, Lobster Wontons, Salmon, Vegetable Noodles, Giant Forturne Cookie & Ice Cream. Will absolutely be coming back, especially to try some drinks next time. Evan was an awesome & super professional server!
WOULD RECOMMEND!!!!!
We saw many great reviews of this place and decided to try it. We had to reserve for a later date since the place was entirely reserved. We had the Peeking Duck, Triple Pork Fried Rice, Crispy Pork Belly Buns, King Crab Egg Drop Soup, Shishito Peppers, and Molten Lava Cake. The Best was the Peeking Duck for 2, and the only thing that we did not like was the King Crab Egg Drop Soup, would not recommend that soup, but everything else we enjoyed. We did not wait that long for the food and it was definitely enough to fill the 4 of us up.
Good food, good vibe, best service.
The food was great. The atmosphere was great. The servers really steal the show though. They are working hard and make the whole operation seem smooth and easy.
Felt like we were invisible while everyone else were acknowledged
Went 3/15/24 for anniversary dinner, seated at 8:30pm and we waited for an hour and a half before we got our food, everyone around us got their food first but were seated after us. When our food came it was cold, I told the waitress and they took the food back and when it came back it was still cold, waitress said she talked to a manager and he said according to her that they can give us a round of drinks and dessert. We sat forever so my hubby asked a guy in a suit a manager I’m guessing if we could get our bill to pay as at this point we had been there for two hours. We told him what happened and he said this is the first of hearing about our experience. So we are assuming the waitress never spoke to a manager. The manager gave us free dessert, however this does not make up for the bad experience on our anniversary. We probably will not be returning which is unfortunate as we love the food there. Awful waitress she never came by to see if we needed drink refills or anything.
Do not go!!!!
Seated 30 min after reservation. Service super slow. 30 min between each course. Food came out cold and missing Ingredients. Had to ask multiple times for ordered drinks and soy sauce. Never going there again. Being busy is not an excuse for a restaurant.

Sushi rolls are yummy, shrimp tempura roll, chicken lollipops are fantastic every time. Noodle dishes are fresh and a great shareable item, and if it's your birthday you MUST get the giant fortune cookie!

I went to Tao this week for the second time and like the first time it was a good experience. I went in with a large party this trip and the service was fantastic. The foodie in the group took it upon herself to order appetizers for the table and there was some of almost everything on the menu. Other than some vegetarian green roll I tried everything and it was all excellent. The potstickers were my favorite. For an entree I had the crispy Thai Shrimp. The shrimp were crispy outside and cooked perfectly with a sweet and spicy chili sauce. We also ordered three different fried rice dishes, the Shang Hai fried rice was my favorite. We also had a bunch of drinks and some of the House Sake for the table. All in all Tao was excellent from start to finish!
Tao @ Mohegan is a vibe
Marcus was awesome and the vibe was awesome. DJ was playing all the songs. Left very happy. The food was really good. I honestly don’t feel you can choose wrong. I would choose the Tao Tini for a drink was very nice if you like a martini.
Perfect date night
Great atmosphere, fast cleanly service with a smile and amazing food. Our waiter Marcus and the other floating wait staff were a wonderful help with the menu and moving fluidly through the meal
Date night
Markus at tao was 10/10 the great. Gave us his suggestions of what to order. And they were all fantastic. We can't wait to come back to Tao and Mohegan.
Atmospheric excellent Resturant
Waiter (Marcus) was excellent, drinks were spectacular, definitely recommend the Tao-Tini and food was outstanding. Definitely recommend eating and experiencing this food. 10/10
Amazing
Fantastic time with family! From the time we walked through the doors our experience was amazing. Food was delicious. Our waiter was right on top of things.

Hit out of the park today! Could not ask for a better dining experience! Our server, Tiffany, was lovely, helpful, knowledgeable about the menu and super attentive!!!! The atmosphere is always wonderful! The meal- simply superb!!!! Her suggestion of the olive fried rice was perfect! Such a unique, delicious flavor! Every dish was outstanding! Can't wait to go back!
Came here with my sister for her birthday.
This place is very spacious and decorated nicely. We ordered the pork potstickers appetizer, it had a perfect texture and a nice kick. We were supposed to share one chicken lo mien but it was so delicious we ordered another. Our filet mignon came out perfect as ordered. The sever was very attentive and friendly. For dessert we ordered the dessert platter that came with mini donuts and a giant fortune cookie, we also ordered the potted carrot cake. We had several drinks from the menu and it was flavorful. Everything was presented well and photo worthy, it was just a bit dark; next time I'll invest in a camera light. Our bill was $400 for only 2 people before tip! Although it's expensive, I'd definitely be willing to come again.
I have been coming here since it opened.
Never had a bad meal ever. The servers sometimes are not so good(forgetful and slow). The ambiance is amazing, very modern, live DJ, fountain etc. pricy but expected. Definitely coming back
Hit AND miss.
Reservation a must. Gorgeous entrance/lobby/wait area. Service is lovely. Now, the food: edamame was so over salted that even my salt-obsessed kid had to shake the pieces off before eating. Best thing on the menu: cracking pork belly. Go here and eat this and leave happy happy. The bubbles and berries is large and in charge and refreshing as a summer breeze. The Hong king fried noodles (not authentic-zero crispy noodles) and Chinese broccoli were okay. The sushi was like anyplace else. The worst thing to order would be the orange chicken. What an embarrassment. $36 and Panda Express does it better. Tsk tsk. We thought that in a place like Tao they would experiment or make it somehow extraordinary. Nope. Do not get this. Total let down. Overall you pay big time for the vibe and decor and with dishes like the orange chicken I would definitely save my $200 and eat someplace else and still afford dessert.
