Easily my favorite restaurant in LA.
Cannot say enough good things. The sushi is incredible, and the service is SO sweet and nice. It is owned and largely staffed as a family affair - a great LA story. I have gone on dates here, brought family here, and attended many group dinners here over the past 15 years. Ta-Ke is cozy, modest, and authentically Japanese. Oftentimes they have Japanese baseball on the TV in the main room. If you want to have a group, make sure to call ahead to reserve the back room (max 6 peeps is comfortable), and plan for a longer dinner - they can only make food so fast. The only problem that Ta-Ke has created for me is that I am resistant to go to any other sushi place in LA - I only want to go here. I am no sushi connoisseur, but I've been to many other fancy/popular sushi places and this sushi is frankly better in my opinion, as you see who is making it and the care that they are taking in preparing the food. If I ever moved from LA, Ta-Ke would be one of the places I'd miss the most.

My Japanese father in law introduced us to this place when we first moved to L.A. and we have been coming back for a decade now. The sushi is fresh and Kino-San the chef owner takes so much care to create beautiful dishes. No frills restaurant that is 100% food focused. Get the omakase sushi, you won't be disappointed!

Tiny spot. Sat at the bar, and the chef just kept slinging out great stuff. Friendly crowd. Really enjoyed the place and will go back next time I stay in West Hollywood.
Be the first to ReplyI really love family that owns this place.
However, prices are high never seen anywhere that charges $10 for edamame before but I really want this place to succeed and I think it's been doing good since 1990.

Delicious authentic sushi, the spicy yellowtail cut roll is a must try! Unbelievably fresh and so tasty! Definitely recommend.

I found out after I walked up to the front of the door that there is parking available in the rear. The inside is really tiny, I'd guess they might get packed on some weekends. The menu is a little small outside of the big sushi selection. But its well made, the portions made me full, and it was the best eel bowl and tuna roll I've ever had in my life. It is just a little bit pricey, so I can only afford to come on rare occasions. It's in between Beverly hills and west Hollywood so I understand. Would love to come again and try their other menu items.

Was in the area and had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. First off the owner was eating food behind the sushi bar with his bare hands and while he rinsed his hands he didn't use soap. Food arrived and I ordered a spicy tuna roll and the avocado eel roll. Wasabi was BLAND and the spicy tuna had no spice level whatsoever. Service sucked because the server never checked on me because he was too busy watching the Vikings game and the miso soup was cold.

This roll was amazing! I ordered the tempura California roll and substituted tofu instead of crab, and it was delicious!! The service was quick and attentive and the restaurant has a very cute vibe inside. 10/10 recommend trying this spot out when you want some sushi!

There were a couple of restaurants we stopped into during our December vacation in LA that turned out to be highlights of our trip. Ta-ke Sushi on sunset at San Vicente was one. At first it seems like a hole in the wall sushi bar but our waiter led our party of 7 (and then party of 9 two days later) to a cozy private room which was perfect - just like dining at home but with a waiter and food tailored for each person in the party. The food was excellent. No one in our party was less than very happy. The miso soup, calamari, udon soup, and shrimp tempura rolls were about as good as I've had anywhere. The service was also excellent. The sushi chefs clearly are proud of their fine work and our waiter was really flexible and attentive.

Can I just say WOW?!A friend picked this place for us last night as it was right next to the Roxy, where we were heading. I'm so glad she did! While dining I truthfully was getting a little irritated at the speed of serving; however, I later realized a) it's a small family owned establishment and b) the chef was taking delicate care of each dish he made. Boy was it WORTH it! I'm the dummy that left us not enough time to enjoy more.10/10- black pepper tuna 10/10- yellowtail jalapeño roll.I'll be back! Totally my new sushi spot while in WeHo.

What a wonderful spot! Was welcomed by the staff who were A+. Food was delicious had the Sashimi plate (fresh & perfectly prepared), Unagi (best thing I had - delicious!), Tofu Miso (rich and flavorful), and the spicy yellowtail roll (nice kick of spice and had some tasty masago mixed in). Can't wait to come back.
Be the first to ReplyThe best sushi I've ever had.
The people running it are humble and work hard. Service is great! It's amazing watching the chef work. Great place location and staff.

Hidden gem. Food is delicious, but not fast- which means they are doing it right! Went alone, but saw small groups of friends and people enjoying romantic dates. There was even a celebrity taking selfies with someone who asked politely. Relaxed, warm environment, and the food is worth mentioning again. Highly recommend the yellowtail jalapeño roll!

We reserved a table for 16 for a birthday. We came and ordered as soon as we sat down, waited for over TWO HOURS only to get 3 of our appetizers with many people not having gotten their food at all. We ended up going up to ask where our food is to be told by the server that he was about to ask if we wanted to scratch anything from our bill after 140 minutes of waiting! They still charged us OVER what the bill had added up to and tried to charge us 4 dollars for a side of eel sauce WITHOUT WVWN GIVING US THE FOOD TO EAT THE SAUCE WITH. Ridiculous and awful service. Handed us a bag of hi chew candy as we left to make up for leaving us with no food and a 200+ dollar bill. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A PARTY OF LESS THAN 2 people as we were told there is one chef after we had payed the ridiculous bill and the slow service is normal for them.

We went there at 8:05 and we only got soup by 8:40 than they brought sushi for my kids and put wasabi in it. The Waitres didn't even bring plates. Very rude and unorganized. Never coming back. They ruined our night. Never coming back here.

OMG. I got the sushi plate on Uber eats and this sushi is incredible. So fresh. I legit thought of Nobu eating this sushi..you guys won't be disappointed. The fish melts in your mouth. They also follow special requests :) SO GOOD! Will be here all the time now
Be the first to ReplyDelicious, run by a family.
I ordered the grilled cod (it was so delicious), salmon avocado cucumber roll (you can make your own) and vegetable tempura. All were delicious but the grilled cod was DELICIOUS!

Been coming here regularly for over ten years now, and the sushi never disappoints. I've been to nearly every high end sushi restaurant in LA, and comparatively Take is better than most of them. This isn't hyperbole. Do yourself a favor and visit something special. And yes, service can be slow at times, and the sushi chef won't smile at you until you've been a regular for a year or two, but that's all part of the charm. Cheers.

Real deal Japanese family making great food, sweet people. It reminds me of being in Japan, make a reservation because it's a smaller place and gets busy. Sushi was fantastic, will definitely be back when I am in town, keep up the good work.
