If you have watched Jiro sushi on Netflix.
This is probably about as close as you get to it. Only a few seats available in each seating and it is probably one of the hardest place to get a table in London due to the number of seats available. Believe it or not there are only 7 seats available in one seating. They still use the old telephone to take bookings and you only can select the exact time slots available. You cannot sit later or come earlier. Limited to 3 hours per slot. I believe there is a minimum order of £50 per person and food is also non-shareable (you can't steal your friend's food!). I find it a bit restrictive and too many rules but given the number of seats I suppose they have to find a way to survive. The process in making the sushi up until it is served to your plate is like an art performance and everyone enjoys watching the chef performs. I think everyone should try this place at least once as the sushi is beautifully made but I feel that this is more of a come once type of place just to experience as it is extremely hard to book and there is a minimum £50 price. I also don't recall the quality is so much crazy superior that I must come here to get my sushi all the time. I came here some time ago but I don't find myself having to come back that quickly. One thing which I realised which maybe it is just me. I ordered the expensive Omakase sashimi + sushi and it so happens that my friend ordered ala carte. What I understood was that this should be a special selection of what the chef believes is the freshest / best quality on that day. The food is served in one direction each time and it repeats when it reaches the full round of 7 ppl. I think it was left to right customer of the chef. My friend sits next to me and every time it is time to serve my friends, I get the same sushi as my friend who ordered ala carte. Just skeptical if it was just done as it was convenience over 'special selection. So she paid ala carte which made it cheaper but I paid more for Omakase which basically is about nearly the same as what she ate plus slightly more. I felt that my friend's ala carte selection dictates also what I will be eating most of the time.

DELICIOUS! After calling 180 times (not an exaggeration), I finally got a reservation for what was a lovely dinner. Bear in mind my expectations for the food were very high but Tetsu did not disappoint. The hostess, waiter and sushiman are very friendly and welcoming. The food is meticulously prepared to perfection. I have not been to Japan yet but my friends that were dining with me (and have been there a few times) said it is very authentic. Main difference was that the sushiman at Tetsu is much friendlier, which is greatly appreciated. In addition, the sakes were marvelous!

For his birthday, my friend's only wish was to come here for an omakase and I cannot stop thinking about it! I had to make about 200 calls to get a reservation but it was worth it.There are two sittings for omakase each day, one at 5:30PM and one at 8:30PM. The interior is very intimate and each sitting serves 7 people only. Bookings are made at least two weeks to one month in advance depending on their policy which changes from time to time. They only accept reservations through phone calls and based on my experience, it was pretty hard to get through so I'd definitely recommend reading through their website for what to do to secure yourself a reservation. My friend and I both got the sushi & sashimi omakase, which comes with three plates of sashimi, 7 pieces of sushi (all seasonally selected!) and a sweet tamago at the end. The sashimi and sushi are all seasonally selected and exotic! I got to try gurnard and turbot sushi which I've never had raw before! The fish is not only high quality and delicious but prepped and presented beautifully too. The variety of condiments selected for each sushi was carefully thought out, elevating each mouthful. The service was impeccable as was the food. The chef's wife and the waiters always came to check-in with us and walk us through the proper dining etiquette. Under the chef's wife's recommendation, we also shared some sake and plum wine. It was lovely watching the chef prep and make each piece of sushi, exhibiting his intent and passion with every movement. The whole session lasted a little over 2 hours and we enjoyed every bit of it!I highly recommend checking out Sushi Tetsu at least once in your life! Not to mention the omakase was only for £96 (excluding alcohol and any service charge), which is cheap for the amount of food you get and cheaper than many other omakase meals found in London.

A really great experience, the food was top quality as was the service. If in London, and you truly want to have a great dining experience, you have to check this place out. Small but very intimate just perfect for a cold rainy night.

Saw the reviews and wanted to check for myself what the hype is all about and was able to get a seat following their Twitter account. I've heard from the other diners that they tried calling 40-50x to get a booking. This is one incredibly good sushi restaurant. Only seats 7, so you'll feel quite special getting a seat! The setting is intimate and I definitely got to know the other diners after the service. The sushi and sashimi served here is something I've never tried before. Chef Toru Takahashi (former Nobu) puts on a great show and I was mesmerised by how each sushi is prepared. The taste of each dish is a burst of flavour, that leaves one wanting more! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. Yes, it's expensive and a mission to get a seat - but it's all worth it. You're not only buying the food, but you're also buying an unforgettable experience. UPDATED REVIEW (Oct 2017):After my first time here a few months ago, I just had to come back and experience it all over again. This time came with my husband to celebrate his birthday. Tried the booking line and one thing I have to say is, you just have to be patient and keep on calling. I tried 157x and eventually got through. Although follow them on Twitter as they announce there if they have free seats the next day. I called due to booking a specific date. Again, this restaurant is just amazing. We ordered the sushi and sashimi omakase. The fish is just incredible. Everything just melts in your mouth and the flavours are mind blowing. This is how Sushi should be eaten. I still yet have to travel to Japan - and I can just imagine being in that country whenever I'm in Sushi Tetsu. If you've never tried this restaurant before and you're a big sushi lover, do yourself a favour and try this place. The experience is just amazing. If I can afford to come here every week, I would!!

Went for dinner with a friend, who had to call 139 times to get a reservation. But it was worth it all. She had omakase, whilst I had a la carte. I had a combination of octopus sashimi, tuna sashimi, squid nigiri, sweet shrimp nigiri, jumbo shrimp nigiri, scallops nigiri, tuna rolls, razor clam rolls and yellowtail hand roll. Everything was remarkably fresh and perfect, down to every ratio of sushi to rice and the temperature. Afterwards, we commented whether we would ever be able to have sushi elsewhere. Ambience was very cozy and intimate. Maximum seating of seven seats, hence very difficult to get a spot. Felt like I was in a local restaurant in the heart of Tokyo. Perfect for an intimate date or professional meal. Service was also top notch. At times, I felt they were a bit too mechanical, but I guess precision and propriety are part of the Japanese experience. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Sushi Tetsu defines greatness and the chef's precision and dedication is apparent on every plate. This place exudes class and much respect to the service-oriented staff and master chef himself. It is obvious he takes pride in his job and you will taste it in every bite. This is the sort of experience where you must be open to anything. They will ask if you have any food aversions or allergies and then build the most customised, local, fresh meal to enjoy. Every visit will be a different experience. As others have mentioned, it is worth booking well in advance, as they have their reservations down to a science. With select space at the bar only and only two seatings per night, you will see why this is so. It's worth the price for an overall quality experience from start to finish. We even received some tips for our upcoming travels to Japan.

Unique presentation, and great atmosphere. This is one time where quite expensive was worth it.

Went twice, despite the booking and price, It worth every single penny you spend there! And it is THE BEST, not one of many, THE BEST in London! It is more than just food, it will open that door of the name "Japan", and the really meaning of Japanese food, culture, spirits and beyond. This place really sublimes the meaning of eating and enjoying.YOU HAVE TO GO ONCE! Take your best friend or your loved ones, the moment will bring you all an unforgettable time together.

I went a few months back spontaneously when they tweeted they had room for one. I thought it was great. Too many pieces to name or remember exactly for that matter. It's VERY hard to get a spot here so best to stay tuned with notifications on their twitter, but it is very good... but very expensive. But I loved it as it was the closest I had dined to when I went to Sushi Dai (one of the best in the world) in Tokyo Fish Market.
