I used to think Tadokoro was outstanding. I don't think so any more. I'm sure their sushi and sashimi are very good, but: First, they've discontinued my favorite dish, chirashi-sushi. No explanation. Second, the assorted tempura (two shrimp and several vegetables) was only average. The shrimp were good, but the vegetables were mushy. Third, even the little bowl of white rice ($4) that I ordered to accompany my tempura was mediocre. Fourth, my friend ordered his favorite, mushroom salad, and found that the variety of mushrooms is less than before, though the dressing is still delicious. In their favor, the service was good and the ambience is pleasing. Parking wasn't a problem for us, but I can see that it might be a problem when they're busy. I won't be going back to Tadokoro, sadly. Some of the Japanese restaurants in the Convoy area of San Diego are more to my taste now. (I should add that I lived in Japan for about 15 years and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto.)
