No one takes the phone to order or make a reservation
Wanted to order but nobody takes the phone. I tried all the options and nothing Not sure how they are still in business If you offer a service just honor what you are promising Your website have a number to call but its annoying no one is answering TERRIBLE
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is dishonest, a ripoff and should not be trusted
I was very disappointed with this restaurant because they clearly and intentionally ripped us off. I ordered a Coke with my dinner. I was served a glass that looked to be about 6 ounces that was half ice and half Coke. Virtually all restaurants give free refills of sodas, so after I quickly finished the little bit of Coke they served me, I ordered another Coke. I was served another glass that was half ice and half Coke. I was shocked to receive our bill in which I was charged $5.00 twice. It is bad enough to charge $5.00 for a glass of Coke because it costs the restaurant less than $1.00, but to serve a glass that is half ice and half Coke and to charge for a refill is nothing more than a rip off. And to top it off, our waiter told us after I complained to him that next time I should order a can of Coke that would also cost $5.00. Of course, a can of Coke is 12 ounces. I was not given that option to begin with. Now I know this restaurant is dishonest and intentionally rips off its customers. UI will never return to Sushi Garage in Cocowalk.

We had a part of 8 people (including a 4 year old child) and went to the Sushi Garage to celebrate a birthday. A member of our party asked the Sushi Chef: can you please cut these rolls smaller bites so my son can eat them, he is only 4 and has trouble with swallowing rolls this size, or give me a knife and i can do it myself. The Sushi Chef actually said, and this is a quote: "I don't have time for games, order something else or leave the restaurant." We would have left the restaurant but with a group of our size our options were limited so we stayed.... but we will NEVER go back there again... and unless you don't mind being treated this way, i suggest to anyone reading this to not to go there.
Be the first to ReplyGo elsewhere in Coconut Grove
Small cup of soup inc 1 round pasta "dumpling" $8 Seaweed salad should be called sodium salad $8 "Korean" short ribs high on fat, short of any meat @$19! Go elsewhere!
Be the first to ReplyDon't try it
Overpriced, small portions And a very rude bartender/server. Had a very bad attitude, treating other customers like gold, unacceptable. Treat all as as equals. This place needs to lighten up....it's not all about the money
Be the first to ReplyBest Sushi, Great Vibe
Loved this place - we were told there was a short wait for a table but could grab drinks at the bar. Sat at the bar and were offered the option to eat there by the barman (Frank) so we could benefit from the happy hour pricing, so we did! Really helpful staff, great quality sushi that was generous on the fish front (no filler rice here). Restaurant was absolutely buzzing for a Wednesday night - great vibe and all round lovely experience, would recommend!
Be the first to ReplyRestaurant was nice
The restaurant and atmosphere was great. The kalbi with onions and bean sprouts also great. Mentaiko noodles undercooked and flavor also lacking. I also suggest the bathroom kept cleaner
Be the first to ReplyDecent Food, Terrible Management and Hostess.
We were told to leave after 1:20 minutes because we weren't spending enough money (our bill for 4 people was already at $170). If you are only allowed to stay at the restaurant for 1:30 minutes maximum between 5-8 pm, the hostess needs to inform us as she is seating us. Instead they abruptly stop taking your order and hand you a check with tip already included. It's a shame because, as locals, you want to support businesses. Sorry guys, you are going to have to change your business module and be professionals.
Be the first to ReplyNot Great
The hostess was rude, and that set the tone. We tried a variety of things, it was all more like fast food, poor quality sushi, but at high end prices. It didn’t taste fresh at all. The only good dish was the edamame with truffles. Service was average. Would not return.
Be the first to ReplyHighly recommend!
Excellent, food, service and cocktails. Toby, Eduardo and Leonardo helped us and their polite, efficient service could not have been faulted. They are an asset to this establishment and to the hospitality industry in which they have chosen to be employed!
Be the first to ReplyTERRIBLE SERVICE!!!
we booked a table at 9.30 and when we arrived we were told the kitchen was closing so order straight away and so we did with all the waiters rushing us. we didn't enjoy dinner at all because throughout the meal they kept taking our plates away and rushing and anxious us in a rude way. they also compulsorily included the 20% gratuity in the bill despite the bad service and we were literally kicked out of the restaurant at 10.45. moreover, they have increased all the prices enormously and are not at all in line with the quality which has deteriorated a lot. I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened and will certainly never go back.

Sushi Garage Cocowalk (Coconut Grove)….. Fantastic sushi. Great setting… Super atmosphere…. Katherine (Kathy) is an excellent hostess…. She knows the meaning of hospitality… Have had a wonderful evening and will no doubt come back again…. 👍

Be the first to ReplyFirst visit, won’t be the last
Great venue, super staff and excellent authentic food. This is a great addition to Miami Beach. The prices are reasonable for the food and service.
Be the first to ReplyBest Sushi Happy Hour in South Beach
I was here with my family and the Happy Hour deal is great, all the appetizers where great. Also the sushi and sashimi was top quality,
Be the first to ReplyPork Does not Belong in Sushi…cat food sushi
We really really wanted to like this place as we love sushi. Sushi might be the worst we’ve ever had. It was the kind you would expect from an all you can eat buffet..not worthy of $26 a roll. My son had the tuna chicharoon roll. Who came up with tuna and pork together. The coconut shrimp roll was vile in soy paper with boiled shrimp. Absolutely no taste or flavor in anything we ate. The rainbow roll was filled with only veggies. Biggest waste of money. We had high hopes but truly the food was horrible. Many of our local neighborhood joints are way better and half the price. Better off going to Miyako south miami or matsuri.
Be the first to ReplyChaos - good for standing around and waiting, not esting. Would never come back
Badly run and disorganized. Reservations are disregarded. Waiting, waiting > 40 minutes. No one In charge. Just standing around with a party of 8.
Be the first to ReplyStaff trained to curse and insult to kick people out after 1:15 hr
Horrible experience. Cocktails tasted like syrup, food was just ok, and service is extremely rude. They have a 1:15hr limit per table, which they forgot to tell us. When our time was over we were kicked out of the restaurant. Staff saying “get the f..k out of here”. I thought the problem was us letting the situation escalate, but went through Yelp, Google and TripAdvisor and this restaurant is full of reviews about similar incidents. It seems like the staff is trained to use the “Get the f..k out of here” phrase to kindly ask customers to release the table
Be the first to ReplyThrown out of restaurant after 1 hour
We went for the happy hour and ordered drinks and food and after an hour we were TOLD to leave our table as there were people waiting for a table. I still had a drink in my hand and was completely shocked. When I asked what I was supposed to do with my drink I was told to stand outside the restaurant to finish it. I was completely gobsmacked. My husband and I had to leave the table which we had booked
When a restaurant feels it can treat its customers like that it’s not worth going
Just sad and horrible
COCONUT GROVE LOCATION!!!
Eek. I hate writing negative reviews for new business until I encountered Al. Owners and management: I know he's in upper management but please for the sake of customer service and staying open past two years: please take him off your floor.
Attached in my receipt. We were sooooo excited for this establishment to open in the grove. (I live 2 miles away)
Last night we finally went (a party of 3) out the gate we ordered 167.00 bottle of saki. We got chili dumplings, 2 chicken tacos, and a few other apps. For the main course I ordered the sashimi plate which the chef picks for you and 2 sushi rolls.
I ate a salmon sashimi. I could smell it a little but still ate it. I had to throw it out in my napkin. Happens. Ate a piece of tuna. Had to throw it out in my napkin. I didn't want to make a deal out of it so I didn't say anything. My friend ate a piece of octopus and spit it out and was like omg this is awful.
He called the manager, Al, and we nicely explained to him the situation (management you can pull video) and said please go back and taste it. In the mean time I ordered more food and drinks because I'm there to eat.
He comes back semi aggressive and tell us that the sous chefs and him tried it and it's perfectly fine. I said that's ok I don't want it I'll still pay for it bc you all think it's fine. He got nasty w me and rudely asked what he can get me and I said not to worry bc I already ordered food. I'm not here for a free meal I wanted good sushi. He gets offended and I said to him:. Listen I get it. Your restaurant serves sub par sushi and that's what you are used to. It's ok I'm not and I'll pay for it even though I didn't eat it bc it's to your restaurant standards. I told him he should visit local sushi places like gramercy, matsuria (not sure of the spelling but it's on bird next to Milan market) even hillstones has AMAZING sushi and they are a steakhouse. . I said I'm not comparing you to nobu, or even bond st ( my fave sushi place 15 years ago) but if it's iron sushi or Sushi maki level you can't expect to charge what you do. He proceeded to tell me they sat 390 guests today and I said that great! I still don't like your sushi. He started going on how it's a juvia restaurant and I said ok, I've been there once also and never went back. Like am I suppose to be impressed? I told him to have a nice night with his sub par sushi () bc he was killing my vibe and tuned around.
Management can make or break a place. Bad food can make or break you. But when you have the dynamic duo of both, it's only a matter of time. (As per other reviews), I really thought I was going to be an anomaly writing a bad review but clearly there are plenty of other bad reviews
I'm seriously getting tired of overpaying for bad food and horrible experiences. I get the whole covid thing but it's really not the case.
Sucks because I'll stick to other sushi joint and other places arising my house, I was really hoping for great times and great food there)
I was cursed at, insulted, laughed and yelled at by the Daniel the manager.
I’m never been so disrespected by an individual in my entire life. Today is my wife’s birthday as a surprise I took her and her best friend for dinner. Mind you we are regulars on average we attend happy hour at least 5-8x a month. Tonight upon being seated we were told by the hostess you have 1hr and 15 mins to eat, drink and leave. Not the greatest start to a birthday celebration but nevertheless we sat down and ordered a ton of food & drinks. After we received her birthday desert we were approached by manager Daniel. This is where things took a turn for the worse. We’ve been coming to sushi garage for years and we’ve seen Daniel before he’s even been our server a few times and needless to say he is simply the WORST. I’m actually surprised they would promote someone like him into management. Fun fact: The last time he was our server not only did he have a black eye and a busted lip but he attempted to charge us for items we never received and then argue with us saying we were lying.
Tonight was the last straw instead of asking us in a polite matter to give up the table his exact words were “I noticed you paid your bill and if your not ordering anymore food you need to leave I have other people waiting for the table” At this point not only did we feel disrespected but we just spent close to $200 only to be treated like crap. My wife being upset as she rightfully deserved to be told him you don’t need to speak to us in that matter we come here all the time and every time you give us attitude. Daniel laughed in her face and said I don’t care get the fu*k out I have people waiting to spend money. I told him don’t ever speak to us in matter and with an arrogant smile on his face he said if you have a problem with my management style call Juvia and tell them Daniel sent you, we’ll see what good that will do. I told him I will and not only was I going to report him but I wanted his bosses information he proceed laugh in my face and say “You dumb fu*k I am the boss so fu*k you, now get the fu*k out of my restaurant. Matter of a fact don’t ever bother coming back here because I’m going to blacklist you right now. I don’t ever want to see any of your faces here again and if I do I’m going to personally spilt in your food” I was in absolute shock I couldn’t believe someone let alone a manager of a restaurant was speaking to us in this matter. As I walked out I told him I’m going to call Juvia Corp you will not get away with speaking / treating us in this matter. He continued laughing and said report me all you want, you dumb fu*k if you think you’re the first person to write a bad review about me thinking it will do anything you’re going to be seriously disappointed now get the fu*k out your holding up my line.
I’m posting this for two reasons one because no one should ever be treated how we were tonight and two because if Juvia allows this to go unpunished. I will make it my mission to post this same message across all review sites and will email the entire Juvia management team daily until I receive a response on how they are going to handle this incident.
To the management if you’re reading this if I don’t hear from you within 48hrs. I will report you to the better business bureau and attach all the complaints listed on here against Daniel until you do the right thing which is FIRE him.
Good food horrible managemen that puts a bad taste in your mouth
Tonight I celebrated my birthday at sushi garage with my husband and best friend. My husband and I frequent this restaurant often and live in the neighborhood. We come so often that the servers know us well. This evening the food was excellent and our server was sweet and attentive.. As we were getting ready to exit the manager( Daniel) came to the table and pointed at his watch and said we needed to get up because someone’s was waiting on our table. He didn’t introduce himself nor ask how our dinner was. He was very rude and I said we had paid our bill and he said I know you need to go now. After such a nice birthday dinner this was so disappointing to be talked to in this way. I work in hospitality and would never speak to a guest in this way. As I exited I said to my friend and husband this was not the first time he had been rude to us. We had a encounter with him before when he was our server. He not only had a broken lip and black eye while serving us but he charged us for items on our bill we didn’t get. He argued with us about items he never brought. So fast forward to this evening. As I exited tonight he laughed and looked at me with so much anger and shouted at me I would be black listed from the restaurant …all while new guests are entering. . I have never been treated so awful at a restaurant. This is a shame and I won’t be returning here which is very disappointing. I always want to support local businesses but not be coming back until he is gone. He has horrible hostile energy and is extremely unprofessional. Sushi Garage this is bringing down your value and I will bring my business elsewhere.
Be the first to Reply$9 for a bottle of still water, skimpy sashimi.
Sat down and offered sparkling or still water. Wasn’t told that still water was $9. In addition sashimi was so pathetically skimpy that it was transparent. All of the sushi was very skimpy on fish. But $9 for a single bottle of water… really deceptive. Never again.
Be the first to ReplyTASTELESS SUSHI
TASTELESS SUSHI, try it without sauce and you will see.
Also, truly poor service. Not worth the money!
Good ambiance though, that’s why I gave them two stars.
