Street & Co Portland Reviews from The Last Year
Vacation highlight
Longstanding seafood restaurant with a well deserved reputation for excellence. Scored a table the same day for dinner. The restaurant is on a cobblestone street and has several inviting and lively rooms and a comfortable bar/waiting area. We had an innovative and fresh three course meal--wonderfully fresh oysters, shared arugula and cherry salad and scallops over farro and branzino cooked with fresh tomatoes. Delightful. Our servers were so polite and attentive. A vacation highlight.
All time favorite food
We had not been back to Street and Company for a few years, and this visit did not disappoint. We made the reservations a month ago even though we were not in peak season. I’ll note that Google maps says you can drive on Dana Street and the down Wharf Street. Not correct. It is blocked off for pedestrians only, but the parking garage on Fore Street is nearby. It is five star for food and service. The mussels are the best we ever have, and we’ve had them all over the world. You do have to like garlic, and we do. The noise level and crowded tables brings things down a notch. We decided not to wait so long to go back as we’re still raving about Street and Co 24 hours later.
Great oysters! Good lobster
I had some of the best maine oysters ever here. Freshly shucked by a charming young lady at the bar counter and served with good wines. The lobster dish was very fresh but the pasta was bland. The asparagus and sauce gribiche was good. Its worth visiting when in portland.
Great Night
Such a charming restaurant. The lobster Diavolo was amazing. Flavors were excellent. Huge portion. More than enough for two. Service was excellent. Fun first night in Portland.
Go. Just go.
Absolutely worth the hype. One of the best meals I've had in months. Highly recommend the scallops and the broccolini side if they have it.
Nice decor with great service from Charlie
Celebrating an anniversary with Street & Co. Lucky to get an early reservation with only a week’s notice. Had a nice corner table in the first dining room with the kitchen. Was able to see these chefs do their magic. Menu is all fish and we loved it. Charlie was welcoming, friendly and efficient. We had a small glitch with our order but Charlie took care of us. The halibut and the sole were delicious with fresh veggies and potatoes. Can’t go wrong here.
Go eat dinner here!
Fabulous food, staff and atmosphere! Every course was delicious! Reasonably priced! Try the tuna or the linguini and have dessert! Oysters fresh!
Lives Up To Its Reputation
This is a popular place which requires a reservation (well) in advance if you can plan ahead. The food quality is very good, with a good range of choices for starters, mains + dessert. The wine list was adequately good. The service is also very good. Pricing is a little high. The one draw back is the tight quarters and noise level. Likely not an issue for the young, but a bit more of an issue as one gets older !! LOL. Nonetheless, I would recommend it.
Favourite Seafood Restaurant in Portland
Still one of the very best in Portland for fish lovers. We enjoy the warm cozy atmosphere . Octopus app can be shared as we did. In fact they allow you to share entrees too, which we did not ut our friends did. Monkfish dish superb, and the usual favourite of mine Sole Francoise in a pan. Yum. The monticello was a good white wine we enjoyed. Will return for sure, but next up may be Scales just for some fair play.
Nestled in the heart of Old Port off of an uneven
Nestled in the heart of Old Port off of an uneven cobblestone road, Street & Co. captures the essence of a rustic seaside restaurant with charming decor and an intimate setting. Their menu is impressive--both classic and creative--and consistently delicious. As a creature of habit, I'm a sucker for their tuna bolognese (a special), smoked steelhead paté, and Kisses and Poppies cocktail (a citrusy/floral tequila-based drink). Their servers are both attentive, friendly, and welcoming. No matter what you order, you're guaranteed a memorable meal and dining experience. Quite the gem!
Enjoyed dinner here.
Staff was friendly and inviting. Provided good suggestions on meals.
Great food and atmosphere, highly recommended, lobster
Great food and atmosphere, highly recommended, lobster diabolo in particular was great!
Always a favorite
This is THE restaurant we go to in old port. Every time we come to this area, we tell each other we won’t go to street and co.. But.... we can’t help ourselves!! Terrific seafood... wines drinks.. atmosphere.. always very busy so reservations are recommended although they do take walk ins.
Amazing experience.
We called to make reservations the day of and they were fully booked but told us we could try as a walk-in so we did. We were very lucky they had three seats available at the bar when we showed up at 7:30pm. The bartender was very friendly and really made sure we had everything we needed. We started with a special for our appetizer, a cod fish mashed potato spread and it was DELICIOUS! My daughter has the seared tuna and she loved it. My husband had the linguini and clams and it was very flavorful. The portions were also pretty generous. My swordfish was also cooked to perfection. We would definitely return. The bar is in a big open lounge area so it was a nice setup. And everyone was very friendly.
Delicious!!

Not what it used to be
The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the service is excellent, and the food--well, everything (especially the octopus starter) was great EXCEPT that I was sorely disappointed in the signature sole francaise. My memory of it from prior visits 20 and more years ago was of a crisply pan fried delectable fish. Tonight, it came in in two pieces that were attractively browned but SOGGY and tasted on the old side of fresh. Truly a letdown from a place I have held fondly in my memory all these years. My wife had the lobster with garlicky lemony linguini and it did not disappoint.
Charming restaurant! The lobster was top quality and there
Charming restaurant! The lobster was top quality and there was a huge portion for my sister and I to enjoy and share. And of course after seafood, the lemon and towels was a great touch.
Had a fantastic date night with the Mrs.
Really great stuff we will be back once the winter is over. We want to try more of the menu. Thanks for a fun night
My boyfriend wanted to try this place.
Apparently they have 3 restaurants in the area - 4th street, street & co, and scales. All the same owner. Ambiance was nice on a Thursday night. Quiet. We arrived late. We were about an hour and a half from closing time. Everyone was so nice. We sat at the bar. We started with the fresh, local oysters. The best is the John's River. Then Weskeag and third the empress. While they were shucked perfectly and fresh and delicious, I can't say we would spend about $5/oyster again. Other places have oyster specials for $1-$2/oyster. We ordered the prosciutto. It's $10. Meat is fresh and appetizing amount. Freshest we had was in Rome, Italy. We ordered the bluefin tuna bolognese appetizer. It disappointed me. Nothing tuna about it. It's mostly pasta. Flavorful. But I would be able to tell you if it were tuna or beef. And $20 for that is just too much. Not worth it. The monkfish was cooked as it should be. Flavor was nice. However, I made it better! It's best in butter and garlic, like a lobster. It's called the "poor man's lobster" for a reason lol. The cannellini beans were good. 3 Clams fine. Would I order again? No. It was $37. The branzino had perfect flavor. Seasoned perfectly. My boyfriend said it was delicious. Guanciale & kale chips minimal in the risotto. Not worth $40. He said should be $20. I agree. The beers are also pricey. Just why? Simon was great. There's a new girl working there and she is great too. She is being trained on oysters and she did an amazing job! Staff is great. Service is great. Food is ok, but seriously overpriced. We spent over $200 here. Crazy. Will we come here again? No.
You can't be the ambiance.
Food is almost always good (seafood only) but sometimes they are off, they accommodate any challenges - service has been spotty since COVID
We had a fabulous meal on Saturday night.
The service and food were impeccable!! We can't wait to come back. Everything was delicious!! This is a very special restaurant.
Best restaurant for seafood in town.
Amazing service and food. Call ahead for a reservation!

Extraordinary meal Everytime we eat here - salads, seafood, pasta - all are delicious- wonderful service and great drinks - thanks
Food was phenomenal as expected! Ambiance was warm and cozy
Food was phenomenal as expected! Ambiance was warm and cozy feels like a hole in the wall cafe somewhere in France. Quite literally elbow to elbow with the next table but that's no problem as the vibe makes you ok with talking to the stranger next to you about each other's meal and maybe even make a new friend(even if just for the evening). Casual yet Impeccable service. It feels like you've been coming here for years and the staff is equally as familiar.

My meal was absolutely perfect from the unique cocktail to the bread, the fish to the vegetables. Everything was perfect. The service was welcoming, knowledgeable and and informal. the price was just right.
Food as always was some of the best in Portland.
The ambiance is quaint and filled with great smells. Couldn't ask for better/attentive servers. Just great

Great food of course, but their service is above and beyond, some of the best table side manner I have ever experienced!
Great food! Classic Old Port restaurant, one of the best in Portland.
First impression - not a fan of standing in the hallway for 20 min before being seated. Should have lounges open at least a half hour before seating starts to allow people to sit and get a drink. I actually had to check in twice because they were seating people who came in well after me. Was a bit chaotic at the start. - The building had a rustic feel Cleanliness- very clean kitchen and dining area Service - host was very nice and but did ll it let a gentleman sit before being seated who had a bad back. - Server was thorough in explaining the specials. - Oysters came out after my soup Food ordered - oysters, butternut squash soup, pan seared scallops Food Appearance - bread came out in a basket without a napkin, bread was fresh but the butter was basic, would have been nice to have a sweet butter with this bread. Unfortunately that took it down a notch - Oysters came out in typical ice tray with a vinegar sauce. - Soup was in a very simple clean bowl with some garnish on top. Food Taste - soup was amazing! - Oysters were clean and well shucked -Scallops were perfectly cooked and had amazing flavor -tiramisu was very fresh and rich. Absolutely the best I have ever had Notes Had view of the kitchen and it was as a very well run operation. The staff had a system for everything,
Solid Old Port Eatery
All in all a good meal. I had oysters for app( offering 2 differently sourced)- and couldn't help but over hearing different servers state completely different origins: Damariscotta, Bremen, Brunswick...by end of night they all seemed to get on the same page. Soup app was luke warm...good, but i like my soup served hot. One salad was delicious and well presented, the other, an arugula salad appeared as if it might have been dropped on the way to the table and did not contain any grapes as was described on menu. I found the sole francaise to be overly greasy...without much seasoning. Desserts: a delicious Basque cheesecake , and a Lemon pudding cake, Bread and butter served upon seating, and replenished. Water topped off throughout service. 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 deserts, sans alcohol -$ 160 plus tip. Tepid soup and a salad with missing ingredients.
Past its prime
Whenever I can easily prepare something a lot better in my own kitchen, I feel compelled to say so. The food and presentation were lazy and Street & Co are clearly resting on their laurels, I’m sorry to say. Nothing special. Nothing interesting. One star
A little bit of heaven in downtown Portland
Thoroughly delightful meal after the Magic of Christmas performance. The servers were attentive and friendly. Mussels were delicious and the spinach salad was one of the best I’ve ever had - the right amount of dressing to not overwhelm and delicious bacon. Fluke over leaks and bacon with cauliflower rabe - A+. Scallops were delicious too. Ended the meal with an orange creme brûlée. An absolutely gem of a restaurant. We’ll be back!
Best ever tuna
What a find! Great atmosphere, lots energy as soon has open the door. I've had tuna a few times in the past - but the fusions of taste on that plate were incredible. Definitely my new place in Portland. Parking in the Old Port, I'll review that elsewhere.
All good, except for a ridiculous surcharge.
Love the food, love the servers, love the ambiance. But last night we were taken by surprise... The spinach salad had barely a touch of buttermilk dressing. The spinach didn't even look damp. So I asked our waiter for some more, which duly appeared in a tiny dish. When we paid, we discovered that a TWO DOLLAR charge had been added to our bill! We were tired and needed to be elsewhere, so we paid and left, disappointed.
This local's favourite
First revisit since the pandemic due to the intimate nature and size of this establishment. It was marvelous. Tatyana helped us enjoy our evening, though her assistant shopped the food a couple of times. Tell a kitchen by its soup and this one was delicious. Other very good items were clams with pasta, octopus and the sole Francoise. I expected a "cakier" cheesecake. A super good evening to mark our return.
Seafood heaven
Solo diner, great service at the bar, oysters expertly shucked and delicious. Special scallops appetizer really tasty. Crusty bread made the dish rock! Good wine by-the-glass selections. Only complaint is that they refused to sell me a soup to take to my sick spouse at the hotel because they didn’t have a container .
Great food, nice place, cool staff
Amazing food, casual and cozy place. Busy, but cool staff, and delicious cocktails while you wait for your table. We had lobster with linguine. I’m not a lobster expert, but I love it. Also the butter squash soup was perfect and heirloom tomatoes salad too. We had basque cheese cake as dessert and it was authentic. WHite wine by the glass was okay…
Aroma!
Earlier in the day, I’d taken a tour and the guide suggested a walk down Wharf St. I returned that evening and strolled along the cobblestone alley. About halfway, I was swept off my feet by the aroma of garlic and pasta. I observed people dining excitedly on the patio of a restaurant. Then I saw it. Pans of steaming lobster, scallops, mussels, clams, and shrimp. That was enough for me to walk in, request a table for one on the patio, and wait. An hour passed before a table was ready for me (I suggest making a reservation in advance). I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio along with Shrimp with Butter and Garlic over Linguine. And for the next hour, I savored an exquisite meal and sipped wine under the night sky.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
