Stand Étterem Budapest Reviews
Great food served with love
You can feel that they are very proud of their achievements and do their outmost to give us a great experience. I would argue that they achieved this. A great variety of tastes and more than enough food for us. Many great dishes but in our opinion then their signature dish was the weakest. (Venison). I will add that we prefer seafood over meat so we may stand alone with this opinion.
It's OK.
I liked the welcome snacks and the desserts. The other dishes are not to my taste. Though I like fine dining. The air conditioning was too strong, I was freezing.
The Stand-A perfect Hungarian Harmony
The Stand was an exceptional dining experience in Budapest. Each dish was a true masterpiece, blending Hungarian heritage with modern creativity and elegance. The flavours were distinctive and thoughtfully crafted, making this one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had. I highly recommend opting for the Hungarian wine pairing—it perfectly complements the menu and adds authenticity to the experience. The staff was warm, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable, enhancing the overall atmosphere. To finish, the dessert was an absolute triump!!! Arguably one of the best I’ve had at any Michelin-starred restaurant.
Top notch service and food
This was the most outstanding dining experience we’ve ever had. Everyone of the staff made us feel special and comfortable throughout the evening. The food was amazing as expected. Each course was another delightful surprise. In years to come, we may forget exactly what we ate, but we will never forget the superior service of the staff!
A special experience at a 2-Michelin-star restaurant
An evening of a special experience. Unlike any restaurant we've been to. All the dishes were special and of course super delicious. Truly works of art. The best raw materials and the appearance and execution are perfect. In fact, it's about 12 dishes, because some of the dishes come at the restaurant's expense. Estimated cost without extras and without alcohol, about 300 euros per person. For anyone who's worried, don't leave hungry.
Stand Restaurant plates works of art.
One of the best restaurants in Europe? I am not sure how to praise this restaurant that hasn’t already been said as they are much better at creating a dining experience than I am at writing about it. Since I am far from being a restaurant reviewer, I will try to relate our impressions. Nice atmosphere. Upscale without being stuffy. We had our anniversary dinner here and they seated us as a cozy table in back. The service was well executed, however it was also friendly and personal. That is such a fine line to balance isn’t it? Perfect service that is also personable. We had the full tasting menu. The food was a gourmet focus on region cuisine. If you have heard how good the food is in Hungary, the Stand will verify this. If you have not heard how good the food is in Hungary, this will convince you. Other gourmet restaurants artistically plate their food. The Stand plates works of art. The food in my opinion was too beautiful to eat. I have only seen 2 restaurants that presented their dishes as artistically as the Stand and those are 3 Michelin star restaurants and one of them is closed. We chose the wine pairing that focuses on local and regional wines instead of the alternate fine European wines and I am glad we did. One of the things we like to do is experience and learn about wine in the region and just as importantly, see how those wines are paired with regional food. Staff at Stand are very willing to share their expertise in this area. This Stand is now on my top restaurant experiences list. We have been fortunate over the years to have visited many Michelin star restaurants on 3 continents. Therefore, it is nearly impossible to break into my personal “top restaurants ever” list. It was one of the highlights of our trip to the Danube. I have had a little while to reflect on our dining experience and I think I might just schedule a trip to Budapest simply to visit Stand. Summary: Food: Some of the best in the world. Presentation: Unbelievable Execution: Practically perfect yet personal and warm. Ambiance: Elegant without being stuffy.
The most expensive and least memorable meal we’ve had
We’ve dined at several luxury Michelin-starred restaurants, including in Paris, and never have we paid €820 for a meal for two. The menu we were given had no description of the dishes included, leaving us completely in the dark. We asked the waiter for guidance, and he suggested dishes like the langoustine, without warning us that they were extra charges. We also ordered wine by the glass (just three glasses total), as a full bottle didn’t make sense. With cocktails, water, and a 15% service charge, the bill skyrocketed without any prior indication. We’ve had much better meals at similar restaurants for half the price, and with far more clarity and respect toward the customer. The food did not justify the cost, and the overall experience left a bitter aftertaste. I do not recommend.
