Should be better
A beautiful building and setting and should be really good. Have visited a few times over the years and was a regular at Jim’s Yard, the owners previous venture. My recent visit wasn’t good though. Sharon wasn’t there which really changed the experience…perhaps it has changed hands. We had booked a table but once seated were ignored until we asked for menus. You could literally feel the stress from the young team and where we sat we could hear constant yelling in the kitchen. Perhaps they are in fear of the chef. Pizzas should have been good as they have a wood fired oven oven but mine was bland and doughy. Won’t be rushing back.

Enjoyed a splendid meal on the outside covered terrace at The Six Bells on a lovely sunny evening. Food was delicious and the service was first class even though they were very busy. Good value for money and would definitely eat there the next time we are in the area.

The food was wonderful, the atmosphere congenial and the hosts warm and welcoming. If you haven't yet discovered this gem of a place then you are missing out.

Food ordered : Olives, sun blusher tomatoes and bread. Bread didn't arrive, had to ask again for it Mains: caesar salad and Cornish hake. All food tasted wonderful, really lovely. Staff were very friendly, but the service really wasn't good. It all appeared a bit hit and miss and disorganised . We were served by 4 or 5 different people. By the time we were brought the dessert menu, it was relatively quiet outside. Soon after this, we needed our drinks replenishing. Sadly, after handing us the dessert menu, no one came out of the building to take our orders. We sat for 30 -40 minutes, then gave up. My husband had to hunt around inside to find someone so that he could pay the bill. It felt like someone needed to properly manage and oversee the table service of the place. To be honest, it took the shine off it all a bit. My husband explained that we had given up waiting and the waitress apologised, but we just expected something better from this establishment. We may eat here again, as the food was excellent, but the service really needs sorting out.

Booked for 2 nights. Arrived Friday lunchtime just as they had finished serving lunches. Simone had a word with Chef and we were able to order some lunch and drinks. Lovely food and such friendly staff. Breakfast on both mornings was superb and good choices. BedRoom and bathroom was spotless. The whole place was superb.
Be the first to ReplyEvening meal very very good
Many years ago I recorded a reasonably good review of lunch at the 6 bells. I subsequently went a few more times at lunch time and became a little disappointed with the limited menu and the 'coldness ' of the main bar area. Did not go during the lockdown but members of my family said that the Evening restaurant was very good. I have more recently been 3 times, as a family and as a couple most recently, last week. I have now booked for a larger family group for our next special birthday celebration next month. On each of my recent visits the 6 Bells has proved a very reliable and good quality local eating option with exceptional levels of service. Last week my calves liver was especially delicious although my starter (trout salad ) was a little bland. However it is clear from my own experience and from many other recommendations from family and friends that the 6 Bells is one of the very best eating experiences in South Lincolnshire

Visited this delightful place yet again with friends. The menu is a combination of seasonal locally sourced produce as well as pasta and pizzas. Serving staff are polite and discreet. James as always friendly and informative about the menu and wines. Whenever we go it is always busy so definitely advise to use their online booking which is very easy to navigate.
