The best Sichuan restaurant in San Francisco, great flavor,
The best Sichuan restaurant in San Francisco, great flavor, fast service and very reasonable priced - my entire meal for 2 was under $100 and we had enough leftovers for like 3 more meals lol. Couldn't recommend more
Be the first to ReplyI think I need to come here again and try different things
I think I need to come here again and try different things from the menu.Today was just a lazy day for me, being at home all day even though I was having a day off from work. The forecast was also not helping by telling us this evening is supposedly to be raining, when as of a matter of fact it is actually dry like spruce burger without cheese.I was in the mood for something funky this evening, So I got myself orders of Pork belly in brown sauce (hong shao rou), Pig intestine stir fry and Pig brain in Szechuan chili oil.Man o man ..The pig brain was good but I didn't know it would come in such a big portion! I think I will finish this in two weeks or more (is that even possible?)Or maybe toss it, gotta be careful with the cholesterol. The pork belly in brown sauce was good but it was way too fatty since the meat ratio to the skin are very minimal. The pig intestine was crunchy, spicy and this is the one I enjoyed the most out of the three orders I did this evening.Overall I could taste the good cooking in the food and will definitely coming back someday.I just ordered the wrong things today. That's all.
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoy Sichuan Home.
The food is really tasty and had great spice level. Everything is spicy hence sichuan and is flavored so well! I loved all the dishes we received. Definitely is a great go to spot!

Quality/Quantity - My guest did not want to come here as she said the food is too spicy???Lucky for them and I, her two other choices were closed, LOL.So we got to come here after all, and I made sure we did NOT order any spicy food.Today we got the following:Pumpkin Sesame Rice Cake - This came last, I thought it was an appetizer, but maybe a dessert? It can pass for either. The pumpkin flavor was very faint, but the red bean was good, a little too sweet for me.Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs - My guest ordered this and it quickly became my favorite dish. This dish is also very sweet, but NOT too sweet. Glad she chose it.Singapore Rice Noodle - Good and generous quantity, including the shrimp. But I would have preferred the flavor to be a little more robust and with a little more Singapore kick. They also gave complimentary tea and a pickled side dish which was not bad.Atmosphere - Open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm, Yelp hours differ slightly.Small local restaurant, and yes they have bathrooms here, see previous SF Yelp.Love the side table that slides out from under the regular table. Because sometimes we order too many dishes, and we like to do "family style" so we can try everything and Yelp about it all and having an extra side table makes a BIG difference.Service - Excellent, I believe she was the owner. She also suggested a pork shoulder CNY dish, which we did not want to try.Price - $41.39 + tip. Cash discount available, not sure how that worked as she only took $1.39 off the bill to make it $40 + tip. Other businesses usually take off the sales tax $3.29 in this case.Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2011. Hope to frequent here more often.

Better tasting than several other more expensive Chinese restaurants in SF. Highly recommend!!!

What a beautiful hidden gem to discover on a rare sunny day in the Richmond District. We took advantage of the one day break in torrential rains to try this place, which we've had on our list for years. With several Michelin recommendations (a more casual designation than the star) plastered in the windows we suspected we were in for a quality culinary experience. What really elevated it was the friendly and enthusiastic attitude of our server May (maybe an owner?). She ushered us in and recommended the crab and noodle special which was a feast fit for a queen! Buttery, ginger infused noodles capped off by succulent fresh crab did not disappoint. On the side - just to say we ate our veggies, we had mushrooms with baby bok choy . It was a delightful dish as well.Looking forward to returning to try many other delicious delicacies.

We were a group of 8 who dined here for a friends birthday and it's truly a great place to enjoy hearty Asian food at super affordable rates.Ambience: It's a small casual restaurant and on the weekday we visited, it was completely empty. Street parking was easy to find but I imagine it would be busier and harder on weekends.Food: We ordered the spicy fish, onion pancake, smashed cucumber, clay pot beef, dan dan noodles, mapo tofu, chow mein, and tea smoked duck. Everything tasted great but had a similar flavor profile with the Szechuan spices. Our favorites were the dan dan noodles, mapo tofu, and pancakes. We also got the fresh watermelon juice which added a refreshing sweet balance to the meal.Service: The servers were extremely friendly and accommodating. They were able to provide several vegetarian options and also allowed us to serve our own birthday cake at the end. They adjusted portion sizes as well based on our group size.Overall, I highly recommend Sichuan home if you're looking for warm, spicy, comforting food to enjoy with friends.

First time I went here before the pandemic, it felt unique, food seemed exotic, fun and delicious. This past week was a grave disappointment. The veggies--pea shoots and Chinese broccoli were soggy and over cooked, and the meat rubbery (ordered the cumin lamb) and inedible--not sure what this material was, but it definitely was NOT lamb. The potstickers were bready and heavy. I would suggest Dragon Beaux down the street, until this place picks up its game. And I know I shouldn't compare, but if you are charging $100 for take out for two people, then you need to up your quality game people! This is so far from China Live and it made me sad.

Be the first to ReplyWorst Sichuan restaurant I ever tried in US.
I am from Sichuan. Food not fresh. Very different from the menu pictures. Charge you $5 for white rice. When I ask them why braised pork belly was so black/dark, I was told it was supposed to be that color!
Be the first to ReplySichuan home is simply the best.
Amazing food, wonderful people. The best Sichuan food I've found outside of Sichuan.

Solid Sichuan restaurant that's reasonably priced! I took my family here for dinner, and we loved everything we ordered. We got 5 dishes for 5 people and thought it was perfect!Dry Fried String Bean 干煸四季豆 (5/5) - crispy and perfectly seasoned. very addictive!Tofu and Broccoli 玉子豆腐 (5/5) - fantastic dish for your vegetarian/vegan friends!Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken 重庆辣子鸡 (4.5/5) - the chicken was very flavorful without being too saltyChef's Special Fish Stew 钵钵鱼 (4/5) - the fish was soft and incredibly freshEggplant and Pork in Garlic Sauce 鱼香茄条 (3.5/5) - this might be my least favorite dish but still decent if you are an eggplant lover like myselfAs someone who grew up in Sichuan, I did wish the dishes could be spicier. That said, I think most dishes are very authentic. The service was fast, and the lady working there was nice and spoke Sichuan dialect - how I knew I had found the right spot! There are great Sichuan spots in SF, but most are over-priced for what's worth (cough cough Z&Y). On the other hand, this place is your classic family-style spot that makes you feel at home (hence the name)! I will come back whenever I can! Highly recommend it to everyone!

This is an authentic Sichuan food, the place is small, the hygiene is very clean, the taste and taste are very delicious, it is worth recommending a Chinese Sichuan food!
Be the first to ReplyI tried this restaurant because it was near work.
I ordered the Broccoli Beef, spicy. But what came was overly long slices of "velvetized" beef cooked in boxed beef broth and uncooked garlic slices, and huge chunks of steamed broccoli. It had zero flavor, and was a complete disappointment.
Be the first to ReplySichuan Home is a great restaurant in SF's Richmond
Sichuan Home is a great restaurant in SF's Richmond district for Sichuan style food. This small, unassuming restaurant has many Michelin accolades and is a popular option for locals, both for dine-in and take-out. The majority of their dishes are spicy, but you can request a milder version. Based on the worker's recommendations, we ordered the Chef's Special Fish Stew, Sautéed Beef & Asparagus in Black Pepper Sauce, and the Eggplant and Pork in Garlic Sauce. The Chef's Special Fish Stew ($22.95) is their "known for" dish and comes with a white fish filet cooked in a spicy broth with bean sprouts and wood ear. You can request different types of fish as well, but they come with a different price. The most expensive version we were offered was $48. The fish stew was unique and pretty spicy. The sautéed beef and asparagus in black pepper sauce ($22.95) was very tasty and not spicy. The meat had a good texture and good flavor. The eggplant and pork in garlic sauce ($12.95) was also a good order. The pork was minced and the eggplant came in long slices, which the worker helped to cut in front of us. The eggplant tasted really good.Overall, we had a pretty good experience at Sichuan Home. We were able to be seated right away since we came later in the evening. Service was friendly, polite, but also a bit pushy. The restaurant does accept credit card, but they requested cash. If you like spicy Chinese food, Sichuan Home is a good restaurant to try.

I ordered Mongolian chicken and rice of the lunch menu and it's the worst thing I've ever ate in my life and I'm not sure it was chicken if I'm being honest I had two pieces of "chicken" and threw the rest in the bin
Be the first to ReplyAs a girl from chengdu, Sichuan, I think most dishes here
As a girl from chengdu, Sichuan, I think most dishes here are authentic! My favorite is definitely the spicy fish with fresh fish. Fresh fish has more fish bones but the texture is softer compared to regular fish filet. It looks like it's a spicy dish, but it's only mildly spicy. The dishes are pretty big. We ordered 6 dishes for 3 people and had to take most food home. The server is super nice and we got to converse in sichuan dialect. I really liked the pork wonton in spicy sauce and she told me it is all handmade. Additionally, the owner purposely added more soup to the recipe because most customers want soup. Some other dishes that she recommended that we didn't get to order are the grilled fish, Chongqing style spicy chicken, Mapo Tofu, and Ham, beef tripe, pork blood, intestine in spicy sauce.
Be the first to ReplySichuan Home has been on my radar for a while.
The menu offerings will please those who are looking for your typical Sichuan style crowd pleasers such as kung pao chicken or spicy veggie dishes. Yet, they also have dishes for those willing to dive deep into Sichuanese cuisine like the spicy pig brain, which was really great. A work colleague introduced pig brain to me while i was living while I was living in Hangzhou, and I have been hooked ever since! Glad to see it on the menu here. It has a lovely soft texture and melts in one's mouth like tofu! The spicy roasted cumin lamb was also absolutely incredible. The skin was crunchy; the fat rapidly dissolved in the mouth; and the meat absorbed all of the incredible spices. It also tasted incredible as leftovers after 10 minutes in the oven at around 400 F.I absolutely cannot wait to return and explore more of the menu!
Be the first to ReplySooo good! I think this might be my favorite Szechuan
Sooo good! I think this might be my favorite Szechuan restaurant overall. The staff were all very friendly. When I walked through the kitchen to get to the bathroom, I was very impressed by how clean and tidy the kitchen is.The chicken dish had a surplus of bine and not lot of actual meat but it was nevertheless good.I think the already delicious food would be even better if they used more of their specialty dried red peppers. My family and I had a very enjoyable experience here and will definitely be back again.
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant came highly recommended on the Michelin
This restaurant came highly recommended on the Michelin restaurant website. Upon entering the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised with the decor, the cleanliness, and the pleasant music. The menu looked similar to that online so we were able to find what we wanted fairly easily. They have a large selection from which to choose and they all sound delicious. We were pleasantly greeted by our waitress named Anna and she was sweet and very attentive. But that's where the positiveness stopped. We ordered Jasmine tea, but they only had their house specialty which she said was excellent. It was extremely bland and had very little flavor. We even let the teabags steep in the pot until the end of the meal but that did not change the "unflavorfullness" of the tea itself. We ordered a dish of Chinese broccoli with brown sauce which was tasty. We also ordered the mixed mushroom dish and there was very little flavor at all. We were extremely disappointed. My husband ordered the chicken corn soup and said he would not buy it again because it was "super bland".The waitress also comped us a rice dessert which was, to me very bland, the only sweetener being the brown sugar on top of the processed rice rectangles. As mentioned above, when we entered the restaurant there was pleasant music playing but partly into our hors d'oeuvres a television show came on with what sounded like inappropriate language, and brutality (it was all in Chinese) and very annoying as a customer in a dining environment.I told our waitress how much we appreciated the music and she said oh thank you but did nothing to turn the TV off and the music back on. I finally motioned to her and ask her if she would turn the television off and put the music on that they had played when we walked in.She was very accommodating and did put music on but you could still hear the TV in the background playing what was probably a soap opera... Just guessing because like I said everything was in Chinese. We will not be returning to this restaurant and we would not recommend it either.

This place is my favorite restaurant to get some authentic Sichuan food, Service is very good as well.
Be the first to ReplyReally good food and friendly staff.
We ordered the spicy whole crab and the hot chilli beef. Both were really good. The spring rolls aren't that great though. Overall I'd recommend!
Be the first to ReplyOmg the FLAVORS.
So good, so intense, not for the faint of heart. I crave the fish soup all the time (and I have never once been intrigued by the thought of fish soup prior to this)! Must try!
